Our stay was very disappointing. First of all, the hotel was nowhere near the seafront as advertised. You would have to walk about 10-15 minutes to get there. They also advertised King-size bed which turned out to be a Standard Double on the 4th floor with no lifts. My wife and I had to carry our luggages l the way taking a few minutes rest on the 3rd floor. When questioned about the size of the bed the Manager only trued to justify it saying the bed in our room was larger compared to others innother rooms. I don't think we woild ever use this hotel again.

Hotel was good. Staff were helpful. Location is excellent. If you struggle to carry a heavy case ask for a room on lower floor level. There is no lift and no reception cover at night. As I was leaving at 6.30 am I asked for help with my suitcase on departure from reception and no help was forthcoming. I asked again. From the evening receptionist and he was very helpful, although stated that as there is no one on duty overnight was not possible so I was moved to a room on the first floor, resulting in me only carrying heavy case down one flight of stairs. Could be a problem for some.

For the price we paid circa £130 in comparison to other hotels nearby I don’t feel this is value for money. Upon check-in we were greeted with a note “back in ten minutes” not a great start although was actually only a few mins. Check-in process was painless but we were on top floor- 4 flights of stairs and there was no lift. Not ideal for all. Rooms are really small. Literally a double bed and couple chairs. No wardrobe as rooms are so small - just a tiny 10cm front facing rail with 2 hangers on. You couldn’t stay here for longer than a day as you couldn’t hang any clothes. Although small the rooms are pretty well equipped. Tea/coffee/kettle, shower supplies, good towels / TV /Floor standing fan. Water pressure in shower not great and shower tray really slippery - needs a shower mat. Bed really was too soft and worn. Check out easy. They charge you more for breakfast and no free parking so if you want to leave your car parked outside then whack on another £13.30 a day in charges.

Fantastic stay, we were really looked after from check in to extending our stay. The room was spotlessly clean, staff were really helpful and super friendly. Special thanks for letting us use the staff area to park :). Will certainly be back. Thank you :)

Nice clean hotel - modern budget would be best description. Single bed was uncomfortable unfortunately - room was big enough for a small double, but room was nice and clean, staff were lovely. Good WiFi too ! Parking is a free for all on public street outside.

There is no elevator so you have to carry your suitcase up to four flights of stairs unassisted. There are no views from the rooms, only a sign warning you to keep the window closed as they “have a problem with bird poop” There is no air conditioning, fridge, hair dryer or ironing board The rooms are very small and the bed and pillows were hard and lumpy

Very friendly staff on arrival and in all interactions. Public spaces looked nice. Room was clean and simple. Only gripe was the need to de-timescale the taps and shower head. The bathroom was spacious and modern and the stuttering and erratic spray caused by limescale blockages was out of place and could’ve made for a much more pleasant experience. Overall was good value for a single room, was visiting my daughter at uni and would happily stay there again when doing so.

Hotel was clean. Shower was very weak and hot water took ages to come through. Lots of things needed minor repairs which was a bit disappointing. Door handle to bathroom. Light hanging off wall above bed. Handle on sliding door. Was ok but felt a little unloved.

Other than the toilet refusing to flush away the paper, the room and hotel was very nice, a lighter duvet during the summer would be ideal, the room was very warm but fans were available, nice to open the patio door.

While the service and cleanliness were great the window in the room would not close properly and thus had a constant whistling sound throughout the two nights as it was windy outside. We informed the front desk and then sent them a video of the noise through email which we received no response. Great location as it is central to Southsea and the D-Day museum.

Hotel was good. Staff were helpful. Location is excellent. If you struggle to carry a heavy case ask for a room on lower floor level. There is no lift and no reception cover at night. As I was leaving at 6.30 am I asked for help with my suitcase on departure from reception and no help was forthcoming. I asked again. From the evening receptionist and he was very helpful, although stated that as there is no one on duty overnight was not possible so I was moved to a room on the first floor, resulting in me only carrying heavy case down one flight of stairs. Could be a problem for some.

The room was at the from of the hotel and had a great view of Southsea common. However, the road outside was busy and consequently the room was noisy up until 0100. The publicity for the Q8 Hotel should be clearer that breakfast is not available on site. Unfortunately the bistro where breakfast would have been served was closed for refurbishment. Fortunately, there were plenty of good independent establishments nearby in Palmerston Road where a good breakfast could be had.

For the price we paid circa £130 in comparison to other hotels nearby I don’t feel this is value for money. Upon check-in we were greeted with a note “back in ten minutes” not a great start although was actually only a few mins. Check-in process was painless but we were on top floor- 4 flights of stairs and there was no lift. Not ideal for all. Rooms are really small. Literally a double bed and couple chairs. No wardrobe as rooms are so small - just a tiny 10cm front facing rail with 2 hangers on. You couldn’t stay here for longer than a day as you couldn’t hang any clothes. Although small the rooms are pretty well equipped. Tea/coffee/kettle, shower supplies, good towels / TV /Floor standing fan. Water pressure in shower not great and shower tray really slippery - needs a shower mat. Bed really was too soft and worn. Check out easy. They charge you more for breakfast and no free parking so if you want to leave your car parked outside then whack on another £13.30 a day in charges.

Lovely Hotel and helpful staff -looks like my room, possible others refurbished - the reception wasn't staffed when I arrived at the beginning of check in, apparently a one off and door locked but this was rectified within a short time. Fabulous location and very convenient

Firstly, the staff were excellent. The two people I dealt with were both fantastic and very helpful. The rooms were fairly clean but clearly needed abit of updating. Carpets were stained and worn. Bathroom was ok. The things that let this down was no good working fan which in a hot room isn’t nice, the window only opened marginally and let in no breeze. The bed wasn’t great it felt very worn with a visible dip in the middle. Finally, no water in the room which for me is just a basic need these days. Overall it was very ok

Boutique has connotations of something special, it wasn’t. There wasn’t any ice available or a bottle opener to borrow. Our room was quiet but with the window open( no aircon) a big smell of food comes in, no idea where from as hotel has no kitchen and we were on 2nd or 3rd floor. The carpet has a big imprint of an iron burned into it and I had to clean the toilet seat before using it. The shower door was broken and there was no pressure and took ages to get hot water. That said the reception staff were pleasant and overall it was a quiet comfortable night- no frills. Close to Palmerston rd which has great restaurants, pubs, clubs and vibes, and easy to park( paid £9 from 4pm-11am)
