The Garrison

Great property! Had a great time and stunning surrounding areas. Staff was great and the rooms were comfortable and clean. I enjoyed my morning coffee with a short walk to the Loch. Quiet and great for kids. Only complaint is that the parking lot is tight and we had to back up a few times to get through the alley…and that is a very small complaint. Great home base to explore the Highlands. Very convenient location for outdoor adventures as well as exploring Fort William.

The Garrison is in a great location and the room was well laid out for my family of 5. Having a washer/dryer in the room was helpful and it was overall, very comfortable.

We stayed in one of the suites and it was very spacious. However there are no elevators in the back so we had to carry our luggage up stairs.

Bar available at night, breakfast in morning. Nice decor and clean . Bathroom hook and towel rack and robes. We had 2 suitcases and stored them under the bed- no space otherwise. No place in shower for personal item. Shower has no lip so you are asked to place mat near door to prevent flooding the carpet . We missed our first of 3 nights due to train service cancellation. No discount, refund or sympathy..

A little tricky finding the reception area due to the conversion from a garrison. Limited parking, but public parking nearby. Had a great breakfast and wonderful service. Couple of craft beer options in the full bar. Room was small but comfortable.

The suites are all at the back of the hotel, in their own building, so don't expect a view. However they come with their own parking spot and are very quiet. Perfect for a young (or not so young) family. By far my favorite 'room' of the whole trip (6 hotels over all).

The hotel had easy check in, parking available on the premises, very clean room which offered a kitchenette and comfortable bed/furniture. The Garrison is a unique experience for a hotel stay.

This is a fantastic hotel. The hotel is a short walk from Fort William, providing access to great food and drink venues. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble. It's a pet friendly hotel and dogs are made to feel very welcome. Very good facilities. Although there is limited free parking on site, a pay and display car park is a short walk away. This a great place to stay. I have been lucky enough to travel around the world but this hotel is one of my favourite stays. Thank you to all the staff!

The suites were tucked back behind the main property, were spacious and clean. They came with covered parking, which was great! Highly recommend

We loved our stay here. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to help us. It was an easy walk to town and parking was easy. Would definitely recommend.

Really nice room although a little small so not much space to put your bags. The shower was very good but dark when you closed the shower curtain. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice touch to have coffee/tea available in the bar. Really nice that they use local products from Highland soap. Perfect location. Would definitely stay again.

Good location. Close high street but quiet. Use wonderful liquid soap and lotion. It should have 5 stars. However, I found there is mould in the electrical kettle and stained towels, so I deducted 1 star out of 5.

Reception was dismissive and rude. Floors were dirty in room. Room was cramped and hot. Only one 8 inch fan was provided. Bed was hard. Shower wss a joke. Only the restaurant service was friendly and accommodating. Otherwise this was not as advertised.

This was our second stay at The Garrison as we were so impressed the first time. Room was spotless and housekeeping change your towels everyday they also made sure our tea, coffee biscuits etc were always topped up. The breakfast was absolutely out this world with a range of choices that would suit everyone. We had a takeaway one night and they provided cutlery napkins and heated the plates which I thought was a nice touch. Staff were so friendly and accommodating. The Garrison is so close to lovely pubs restaurants train station and all amenities. We will definitely be back

Great Staff. Large, clean rooms and bathrooms.

Liked the downtown location, staff was great. Didn't like the West facing room above the entry. The room was hot in the afternoon and could not leave the windows open due to the noise.

We stayed one night in a suite which was great - except there was a bright green exit sign on the door in the bedroom that made it hard to sleep.

Hotel is very good but the rooms are tiiiiny. It’s fine if you’re traveling alone but when there’s two people in one room, it’s very tight and there’s no place to put your suitcase, clothes etc. Breakfast is also very good if a bit overpriced.

The room is too basic= no AC, no room to drop your bag/suitcase. The same for the bathroom: no room for toiletries. There's no shower head, only a ceiling rain shower— so that your hair get soaked, whether you want to shampoo it or not— and it seems all bathrooms are the same in the hotel. No shower cap available at reception.

Nice stay at a simple, clean hotel with a cool theme. The room was a bit tight for two, but very quiet at night. Windows opened wide for fresh air which was nice.

Well located. Friendly staff. We’ve stayed a few times. Only downsides - showroom was very dark and parking situation hit and miss. Some of the rooms can be small here so ask for a larger one facing the front.

Located close to restaurants and shops. Great location for highland driving stop over. Adorable town. Great hotel. We stayed in a suite and had our own designated parking space. The suite was great for 4 people, comfortable and clean. Enjoyed the free snacks left for us! Overall, highly recommend.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Looks a little like an office block from outside. The interior though was modern and very well appointed. The staff could not be more helpful ans the breakfast was excellent.

We enjoyed staying at the Garrison. The staff were outstanding and breakfast was delicious and free! They had free snacks in the room and in the evening at the bar. I highly recommend. The only neg was the housekeeping put the clean towels they were going to put into the rooms onto the floor outside of the rooms! But did I die? Nope! I dried off on one of the towels and kept on traveling! I would definitely stay here again. Walk to dinner , overlooking the waterfront, superb friendly staff and free snacks.

If you reserve a suite, it doesn’t mention that it’s in a separate building and there is no elevator. You have to walk, drag your bags behind the main building on pavement that has potholes and carry your bags up 1 or 2 flights depending what floor you are on. They will help you if you ask. My sister-in-laws room in the main building, (which was less money), had breakfast included. My suite did not. Hotels.com says you can get a “to-go” breakfast for £10. They told me they never heard of this and would not honor it. The regular breakfast cost £17.50 per person. I must say it was an excellent breakfast. Both rooms stated that they had king size beds. The room in the main building had a “super-king” and my suite had a “king”. The “super-king” is a regular king size bed in the US and the “king” is a queen size in the US. When mentioning all of these discrepancies to the employees at reception, not one of them offered an apology or claimed any responsibility. When I asked to speak to the manager, they didn’t offer to alert them and instead said they would mention the problems. They did give us one complimentary breakfast for two. When checking out, I told them the microwave didn’t work in my room. The very rude employee said “you have to pull it out from the wall and check the back”. Really!! No apology?! How am I supposed to know this?? Put a sign up then! The hotel had some good amenities including, free drinks and snacks in the room and specialized coffees in the restaurant.

Mostly okay, but the staff are very defensive if you request any type of upgrade or even suggest the dungeon-like rooms are not suitable. The prices are expensive for what you get. Very noisy corridors, I had to tell other guests to be quiet as it was unbearable late at night.

Check in clerk was rude. We asked about breakfast and her answer was that since the room rate didn't include it we could show up but they might or might not let us buy breakfast. This in an area where there wasn't a reasonable outside alternative. At the least she could have been polite in answering. When we asked where our room was she said go outside and around the back. Turned out it was up a few flights of stairs with no lift. Not so easy with luggage. No warning of this on the website and as older folks this proved quite challenging. My sense was that the property figures they'll get the tourist business no matter what and just doesn't care

Great service, upmarket feel at great price. The staff were wonderfully friendly and welcoming. Great location. Nice touches with freebies in room and premium feeling rooms and bathrooms. Only negative was very firm beds. Regardless would be first choice of hotel in fort William.

Modern in a nice location. Good for walking down High Street to the shops, pubs and restaurants. Easy off and easy back on 82.

The Hotel is situated on the High Street which is convenient for the end of the West Highland Way and for socialising and dining.

One of the best breakfast experiences I have had - and I stay away a lot!

The closure of dinner dining was not a welcome surprise as it was advertised on the web and the lack of elevators for the suites building was not acceptable. Hotels.com should make this apparent. Staff were pleasant and proffessional.

We paid for the breakfast but when my husband was served, he was told they ran out of food. They managed to find a bagel for him but that’s it.
