Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Doswell Kings Dominion , VA

It was an ok place to stay for the night. The sheets were not changed prior to our arrival. The fridge was not level and would fall over every time we opened it. And the pool was extremely chlorinated to where our swim suits had changed completely different colors and unfortunately my kids were in pain after. They had taken showers immediately after to rinse it off. The front desk did inform us later they closed the pool to try to fix the situation. My one son was too scared to go back in and my other was reluctant tho tried. After 10 minutes he was in pain and had to get out. Breakfast was ok and stuff were extremely nice. Other than the pool the price was right for what we got. Loved being next to the train tracks

The hotel was close to our venue. Only one nearby restaurant that wasn't fast food. The pool was closed, the elevator was not working and my room had a moldy smell. I could have asked to move but i was next door to a friend. The french toast at breakfast was barely edible. And why offer french toast when you have waffles? Only hard boiled eggs available at breakfast.

The first room didn’t have working AC. The entire third floor hall had very little AC. The second room they gave us had better AC. The elevator goes to the third floor but can’t be called to the third floor. Even if the elevator is sitting on the third floor the door wouldn’t open. We had to take the stairs to leave, which had NO AC. Our card frequently didn’t work…so down the stairs to get the card redone. Our door had to be fiddled with to get it to latch closed. I wouldn’t stay here again and I wouldn’t recommend.

2.5 star hotel rather than 3. Indoor pool had issues and was closed without notice. That was one reason i chose this hotel for my daughter's Kings dominion birthday with friends, so our first half day there was just spent watching movies and vegging. Mold problem in rooms. The air conditioner intake outside is covered with mold and moss. The smell and spores is pulled in through the vents and the coils inside are coated. They wipe the machines front off, but you can see and smell it. The windows curtain bottoms are even stained with mold. There were white liquid stains along the bottom of the brown bed skirt closest to the window. The breakfast was little better than continental. Both days of our stay we had the same problems. the microwave scambled eggs were over salted and the syrup was always empty. No regular tea either, just decaf. No sugar, just splenda and diabetic sugar. You cant take your breakfast to the room. They make you sit and eat in the overcrowed dining area even though there are fridges and microwave in the bedrooms and you can order pizza in. Rude breakfast lady never wanted to restock anything and make loud sighs at you if you asked her to do something like wipe a table or restock. She had a tip jar on top of the trash can that was always empty. If she is made to work for tips at a place that breakfast is free and people dont carry cash anymore, how is that fair employee compensation. Walking distance from Kings dominion made it worth it though.

Parking lot was trashy but safe. The elevator wasn't working properly but manager gave me room on 1st floor. Train track is right beside hotel so they provide ear plugs. And rye pool was cold with warm spots.Otherwise very nice &clean! I would stay again.

Nice stay for handicap. Only issue was there is no longer a spa only the indoor pool. But great location to visit Kings Dominion. Also decent breakfast.

Spacious Room, Large Bathroom and Very Clean Facility. Fitness Center had quality machines. Breakfast was good. Good selection of TV channels.

Pretty good service and very clean. Really the only issue was a train blaring its horn at 7 am right behind the hotel. Pool was closed for construction, which wasn’t a big issue, but would have been a nice option. Breakfast was good.

There was hair in the washroom The washroom tub does not drain water, its half blocked The WIFI was laggard, called reception and they said they have only one WIFI link and its sometimes slow. In 2024- The age of Fibre optic internet connectivity this hotel has WIFI lags, imagine! The swimming pool had way too much chlorine in it. My kids had their eyes itchy and burning. The pool water was also unclean, there was visible algae. The gym had 4 machines, of which 2 were broken under maintenance. Terrible experience with this hotel. The staff was lazy and not willing to help. Zero Customer service. They were busy chatting in the back office when we needed help. Another good value hotel chain destroyed. Forgettable experience. Expedia should not list such poor quality hotels on here.

Booked this hotel for indoor pool. When asked where the pool was, they said it was closed all week for maintenance. There’s trucks or some kind of motor running outside our window. It’s so loud. And, the tv doesn’t work. We called and they told us to come down and get another remote. The remotes are not synched up with the direct box.

The room was covered in mold & stink bugs. There was mold on the ceiling, & on furniture. I had to sleep- the little I slept, with the sheet covering my nose. We were told there weren’t any other rooms. We stayed there every year from 2015 through 2022 and had to miss the fair last year. We checked out the next day and were supposed to stay another night. It was prepaid & we weren’t offered a refund when we checked out- even when I told the lady at the front desk. Will never stay there again!

Room seemed ok. Property was dirty. Walking up steps so many stains on the carpet and dirty walls.

The room was good size, but hotel was dirty and unkept. The hallway had trash on the carpet. The elevator smelled and did not look clean and overall condition was very disappointing.

My 11 year old found a dirty used tampon by the bed.

We only stayed for a night. The beds were fine, but thats about it. We were unable to use the shower as it was filthy. It was covered in a brown substance and hair. The toilet barely flushed. When we arrived we were told breakfast was 630-1130am. We were hoping to grab a quick bute before leaving, but when we left a little after 7am there was a sign saying breakfast closed.

Water damage in the hall and in the room. Water damage and mold in the room, strange red stuff in the tub. Mirrors had dirty hand prints and tooth paste....

Very dirty bathroom and beds

Staff was very nice and friendly, the hotel itself is long overdue for a renovation. Carpet throughout was stained and dirty, ceiling repair in bathroom looked horrible. For $110 a night you can do better.

The room was disgusting, from someone else’s food being in there to finger prints on the wall, to so much black grime in the sink. Alerted the front desk staff and they were defensive and acted like they didn’t care. The one plus was the breakfast attendant. She kept that area clean, well stocked and was super pleasant. She, and the free breakfast, is the only thing that place has going for itself.

The ceiling in my bathroom was falling down but bed was comfy.

The hotel was not the cleanest place I’ve stayed (dirt and dust in the corners, smudged mirrors) and it was noisy. People going down the hall or walking above us seemed very loud. Also, there’s a very active railroad directly behind the hotel and the train going by is super noisy, especially in middle of the night. The hotel provided ear plugs in the room. Also, no plugs or phone charging spots by the beds, only on the other side of the room at the desk. On a positive note, the staff was friendly, breakfast was good (my 9 year old is a big fan of the make your own waffle station). The biggest positive for us is the convenient location to King’s Dominion, being right across the street.

The Beds are horrible my back was killing me. They have old cheap Mattress, The Breakfast can use an upgrade The bed skirts was torn, Old furniture. not enough outlets in the room. The manager was polite we had to change the first room the bed looked scary, but the second really no better but i guess you get what you pay for, so glad it was only one night. Oh the shower was the best part !

No internet. Was told to switch rooms, still had issues. Then told I could leave and get a place elsewhere. Not acceptable. This needs to be fixed. Plus staff wouldn’t try to even reset the router to try and fix it. Plus beds are almost as hard as concrete.

While the hotel itself was fine, clean, and i liked my room - i did not see any info about the train tracks directly adjacent to the hotel. My king suite room was onnthe first floor and literally 40 feet from the tracks of a very active train schedule. They did provide foam earplugs ' that did absolutely no good qhen the train came through at 11:30 pm and 3:00 am. Do not recommend.

The front desk staff in the beginning was a little standoffish but warmed up. The elevator is my biggest concern because it would try to move before the door closed. It slipped the second floor and went straight to the third. It just didn't feel safe. There were some aesthetics like unfinished paint jobs but also every light was unplugged. During the multi day stay no one checked to see if we needed more towels or wash cloths and no one collected the used cloths. The breakfast options was minimal wish bacon was included the sausage looked under cooked. Lastly the room had a mostly used toilet paper roll with it back up in the room.

when we got into our room, the temp was set to 80 heat and it had been 80 all day. it took all night for the room to cool off and then the hvac unit fell off the wall in the middle of the night and scared/woke up my family

The customer service is real bad, lack of communication.

When I booked through hotels.com it was advertised as daily housekeeping. Our second night there we arrived back to the room late and very tired and found there were no clean towels or wash cloths. I went to the front desk to request these and was told the hotel has no clean wash cloths and was given hand towels to wash with. The lady at the front desk was very rude about this and I was told I needed to request daily housekeeping with the vendor. I requested daily linens/housekeeping at that time since the booking having daily housekeeping was not sufficient enough. Next day our room was stocked with linens and everything was fine. The next night we again arrived back to the hotel very late to find no linens again. This time there was a man at the front desk who was very rude and handed me a stack of bath mats and told me there is no linens until 9:30 the next morning. The floor in the rooms were disgusting and stained. The paint in the bathroom was coming off the walls. Will never stay here again or recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very close to Kings Dominion, we walked to the park, the property is in good condition, the breakfast was good, the staff was Ok, the first night the attendant was a very nice lady, the second night there was a guy named Mike, a little rough, he didn’t me as customer and treated another customer the same way in front of me. Over all I still recommend the hotel for the price convince

Check-in and check-out were super easy, the room was clean, it was quiet, and we slept well. Hotel a little run-down, but we didn't expect a 5-star hotel! The price was reasonable, we had a good experience, and we'll be back again.

Between the fact that the woman at the check-in counter had AirPods on and was talking to one of her family members while she was checking me in my room smelled like mold and and as I walked around this place, I didn’t know if I needed a penicillin shot from the people that were filthy or a tetanus shot from the number of things that were rusty or just clean filthy in the bathrooms the elevator the door, etc. super close to the entrance to Kings Dominion other than that nothing redeeming about this property.

Service was great and easy walk to Kings Dominion. Good breakfast. The downside was poor water functions…the toilet didn’t flush all waste on first try and the tub took 15 min to drain after shower. The pillows were lumpy and there was a certain unclean smell in the room.

I booked a room at Country Inn and Suites because my family was going to enjoy Kings Dominion's Winter Fest and bring in the new year. The room was booked several days in advance. Unfortunately, we did not get to stay. As I rolled in on my knee scooter with a cast on my foot and begin the check in process, the receptionist waits to inform me that the elevator was out of service and we would have to take the stairs (to our room on the 3rd floor). HOW was I supposed to climb 3 fights of stairs in a cast??? I couldn't believe I had to point out the obvious of what was seen when I entered the hotel - I had mobility issues. Then she proceeds to tell me that there is no other room available. So I asked for a refund. Her mouth said okay; however, she didn't move, except to start typing on her phone. I began checking the 2 hotels next door. Apparently, she looked up one because she told me they were full as well. She still hadn't processed my refund. Finally, I found a room at the other one and asked about my refund. She told me she hadn't processed it in case the other hotel didn't have a room. Even if they didn't, my situation still had not changed - I was unable to go up the stairs. So finally she processed the refund and immediately was back on her phone on a private call as I signed the paper. At rate, a simple email about the elevator could have helped avoid this awful experience.

Our stay was just okay. There was a weird smell. There were many times where the front desk was unattended. There were times I needed towels and clothes, but took a long to time to obtain.

Beware that the hotel is right on train tracks. We found this both charming (fun to watch) and a little surprising (loud when it came through, obviously.) The pool was small but worked just fine for a short stay. No early check-in allowed unless you pay a fee. Parking was easy. Convenience to King's Dominion - could not be better.

Convenient close to state fair

This property is next to railroad tracks. If it was mentioned in the description, I must have missed it. It was nice of them to offer earplugs, though. This experience has taught me to look at satellite images of properties I'll stay in the future.

Close to Kings Dominion

It was close to the park, affordability, pleasant staff, and the full breakfast.

3 min drive to Kings Dominion which was very convenient.

The hotel itself was great. No complaints. I noticed ear plugs at the bedside and thought nothing of it until I was woken up every night around 3am-4am by a freight train blowing by my window about 50 feet away. If you stay here ask for a room on the front side of the hotel.

The property is very convenient for Kings Dominion. It was clean and well stocked. While close to the railroad tracks, I just brought a fan and didn't hear anything. We thought that there was a hot tub, but there wasn't. Breakfast was good and the staff were amazing.

This place really convenient for our trip to Kings Dominion. Everything was great besides two things. The mattresses in the room that we stayed sunk in a little bit and need to be replaced. The hotel advertises that breakfast is open until 9:30 however we showed up at 9:00 with a sign saying breakfast is closed there were still some items but the person cooking said there would be no more sausage and that breakfast has been open since 6:30! On top of that she was rude to my wife which did not make me happy! I called the front desk in let them know about the situation and she did go to the breakfast area and speak with the kitchen worker and had her cook more sausage but we never should have had to do all this lol! If you say breakfast is up until 9:30 serve breakfast until 9:30.

The breakfast here is terrible. There’s not many options if you are gluten-free. There is pork sausage, and waffles. That’s about it. There was no yogurt, fresh fruit, or eggs for most of our stay.

Its a hotel across from Kings Dominion good for a visit on business travel. Sheets were new. Bathroom was fine-ish. Carpet felt fairly dirty and I wore my shoes all the time. Its exactly what you expect for the money. No more, no less.

The available breakfast items were good but there was no orange juice available. The room seemed clean and the bed was comfortable. There is no plunger available in the bathroom. Toilet clogged easily. When I called the front desk all they did was offer me a plunger which I had to go get and take care of the clog myself. Apparently there was no maintenance man. Staff was pretty quiet. Not very talkative. Not rude, just not engaging.

There is a train behind the property. Rooms that are close to it include earplugs. It did not keep me awake long. The bed is clean and comfortable and the shower is strong and hot. Good breakfast

The lady who helped with the continental breakfast was incredible. I can’t remember her name but she was very friendly and interacted with my 3 year old as if he was her grandson. Top notch customer service!

Heater made noise each time it came on in our room and room couldn’t seem to hold the temperature- ranged from 65-69. No breakfast available at 8:30 am Monday morning-was all gone (eggs and sausage) and counters were pretty dirty from other guests. This has always been my favorite place to stay each month I come to Virginia but things seem to be slipping. The coffee is almost water and has been this way for months.
