Bentley Hotel

Waited forever for someone to come out to the front desk to check in. Room was ok but the shower was dirty and had a few insects in it. Booked because there was a restaurant to not have to worry about dinner accommodations but when I arrived and asked about it they informed me they were not open but nowhere on the website did it mention that.

Great value for money hotel with nice rooms and amazing breakfast… This is a traditional hotel of fine standards offering great value for money in a good location. The team at the hotel are wonderfully welcoming with check in efficient and professional, the hotel benefits from an on-site bar and restaurant but I did not utilise so cannot give an opinion on. The bedrooms (some on the third floor and there is no lift) are reached via clean and well maintained stairways and corridors. Room 305 was large with two sofas, a desk and a very comfortable bed which aided a lovely nights sleep. The Wi-Fi worked well yet the television was disappointing, old and poor quality (also I could not turn off the subtitles). The en suite shower room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the room, the shower lacked water pressure though. Breakfast was wonderful; served from the menu direct from the kitchen, the full Scottish is truly exceptional; hot, delicious and hearty. The coffee was awful. Located on the edge of the town centre, close to the towns main railway station where you can connect with trains to Glasgow city centre in under twenty minutes and with direct trains to and from London Euston, Preston, Manchester city and airport together with Liverpool Lime Street. There is also an express bus connection to Glasgow from the end of the road. The hotel has its own car park which is free to residents. The hotel offers good value for money and is highly recommended by me.

This is a strange one. One one hand, the hotel was in a great location and was clean and good value. Car parking on site was fine and it was easy enough to find. However, there are issues. Firstly, we arrived at 16:00 which, we believed, to be a normal check-in time especially as the hotel advertises a 24/7 desk. Well, this wasn't the case when we arrived as there was nobody around. And I do mean nobody. We waited a few minutes and just had silence. We rang the Ring doorbell which normally triggers someone's mobile phone and nothing. We waited a few more minutes and rang again - nothing. We called the phone number and listened to it ring and ring and ring. After around 10 minutes we were about to leave and request a refund due when my wife decided to have one last look around and at the very back of the hotel through a few doors, she found someone who came through and took 30 minutes to check us in (with no apology for the wait I should add). Our room was large and clean. Unfortunately it was on the third floor with lots of stairs so anyone with any mobility issues should request a lower floor. Whilst the room was large and clean, it would appear that the bathroom had a direct temperature link to the bowels of the sun. I had a 'visit the facilities' rather quickly after our check-in wait and it is the first time I have ever left a bathroom with swear pouring off me due to the heat. The hotel room was a little tired with some marks on the walls and carpet but at a budget price it was clean and great value for money. The free breakfast was excellent 10/10. The hotel is very close to shops with plenty takeaways nearby. We were booked for half board but there was no chef and we were refunded for that part of our booking it wasn’t a problem for us. You could use the bar to sit and they provided plates/ cutlery. Overall a good experience 👍

Bedroom clean and practical. However We had several issues on a 2 nights stay. First: our shower struggled to drain the water, it took a full night to do so. We booked a 2 nights stay with breakfast. When arriving the person at the desk told us the hours for the differents meals, but when I asked again, she then remembered the restaurant was closed and gave a refund. We had till 10am to check out, between 9.30 and 9.50 no one came at the desk even when ringing. Then finally some came. When I said we would like to check out, that person just took the key card and said "that's it bye!" We wanted to tell them about the shower tub but didn't get the chance... hoping they'll clean it for the next person...

We needed a room for the night and this hotel had the perfect location. The train station was less than 5 minute walk. That is the only benefit, the hotel was old, cracks in doors, you can hear every movement from the upstairs room, and mold in shower. I wanted to get a drink but bar always seemed closed. Overall great location but terrible facilities.

AWFUL...nowhere to park initially as there was a function going on...the receptionist very kindly moved her car for us. Room was cold when we arrived as the radiators were turned off completely, restaurant closed due to a function, VERY shabby decor, shower barely a trickle, no hairdryer. Function carried on well into the early hours with shouting and slamming of doors until at least 2/3am. Veggie breakfast was passable. More worrying were the "fire" doors with huge gaps between the door and the frame! And lack of security at the front door. Staff lovely but clearly stretched. Would NOT recommend (unfortuanately we are already booked for next weekend...not looking forwad to that!)

Although some parts of the hotel are a bit tired, it's very warm & cosy & ideal for a few nights stay. Our room was a great size, spotlessly clean with a comfy bed & tea / coffee & toiletries. Great value. Really enjoyed our breakfast & the staff are very friendly & helpful.

Staff was very nice, property was extremely basic, old, rundown, and not clean. Scuffs on the wall, hole on the ceiling and light shining through the window all night (no sufficient black out curtain). A place to stay only if you are passing through.

Had to wait for staff to book in, not available on arrival. Room very basic and bathroom was absolutely filthy, have photo to show this. Heating on constantly and not able to open window. No toiletries eg shower gel shampoo etc. Not that you would want to use it in that bath. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel had many good features. The rooms were immaculately clean, the bedlinen was good quality and smelt delicious, good lighting in the room, shampoo, showergel and soap good, bathmat in bathroom and some thought had gone in to the decor in the rooms. However, although clean the shower room had rotting skirting boards, the bedside table and desk were cheap and showing wear.The view from the window over a derelict flatroof building was unappealing and the carpark had a lot of litter lying about. The night porter was nowhere to be seen when we left at 8am and there was no bell to summon anyone so we just left our key cards on the reception desk. Most disappointing was that they no longer served breakfast, despite it being advertised as included when we booked through Expedia. That was one thing that attracted us to this hotel. It wasn't on the order confirmation so there was a miscommunication somewhere and we don't feel we got what we thought we paid for. Wouldn't go back.

Staff very friendly and hotel very clean. For the first time ever in a hotel my single room had a huge window, which made it light and airy, with an open view instead of the postage stamp size windows with a view over the backyard! Sadly the shower needed a little more water pressure but it was adequate for purpose. No evening dining was on offer but maybe because it was out of season, however, the centrality of the hotel made it an easy walk to a variety of takeaways and restaurants. The breakfast was more than adequate with good coffee.

We appreciate we did not pay a lot for this hotel, however, perhaps the room could have been a bit cleaner (a coat of paint, bathroom flooring not great and a hair in the shower cubicle.)

The room is large and clean. Free breakfast included with good quality. Public transportations are near the hotel.

The staff are all lovely the breakfast was good although I only tried the full breakfast but it was very good The room well I got the single so not the biggest but I had more than enough room The bed was way to soft and the springs where not the best on my back also throughout the day theres a extractor fan for the kitchen I believe right outside the window do if you want the window open expect a bit of a racket with that big fan goin off The shower was not the best clean enough don't get me wrong but the head of the shower need to be fixed it goes everywhere except on you All in all the area is the best but the hotel is good enough

The room was large and comfortable When we booked breakfast was included but no breakfast for anyone as kitchen was getting renovated. I was a bit annoyed that I hadn’t been notified by hotels.com or the hotel before our stay. The water pressure in the shower was poor but hot enough and the shower tray filled up with water on our last night we had noisy neighbours (if you know what I mean) which spoiled our stay a bit but overall cheap cheerful handy for the town. Loads of pubs and takeaways will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel, great facilities! Only issue we had was the temperature of the room. They couldn’t turn the heating off and it made the room incredibly hot and uncomfortable to sleep in during the hot weather we had

Lovely welcome, room ready early. Room basic but does the job. Really comfortable bed. Shower not the best, not very powerful and took an age to warm up (and then went cold halfway through!)

We had a good stay at The Bentley despite a couple of bumps. There were several leaks from our window during our first night (one from high-up in the ceiling and one from the corner of the window ledge). This did disturb our sleep for a while but after putting a bucket and towel below, it was manageable. The toilet flush was also quite underpowered. Both of these issues were reported to reception in the morning (nothing you can do about the weather though). The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would suggest perhaps extending the breakfast hours as 8:45 seems a little early to be stopping. I gathered by the vans in the car park that most of the guests are tradesmen who need to be up early in the morning, however this does slightly snooker guests who are visiting for leisure purposes.

We arrived early and the lady on reception booked us in. The breakfast was excellent and room was clean, comfy beds . Bathroom could do with an update ...... but for price we paid was well worth the stay.

Comfortable bed but when booking months in advance i asked fir a lower floor as I have had knee replacements, when checking in i was put on the 3rd floor and no lifts. Water took 10 mins of running the sink before the shower would get warm and the pressure was so low it was like washing under a drip !!

Quiet setting with friendly, helpful staff. Easy walking distance to town centre.

This property has gone downhill since my last stay. It is adequate and no more! Rooms are ok but rough around the edges. There is never any staff available when you book in and have to go searching the hotel to book in. They now do not do a cooked breakfast, just continental. There is no meat or cheese choices you get a choice of toast pastry cereal tea coffee. No choice of preserves or brown or white toast offered. I don’t think many people had breakfast. You also have to be up early 7-830 is breakfast which is crazy.

Excellent staff! Liam, Austin and Joseph made our stay very pleasant! The Hotel is in a good location. It's near a train station, and a short walk to the surrounding area, which has shops and eating options. I highly recommend this hotel!

The room was smaller than expected and didn’t look like the photos. Reception was unmanned and check in took half an hour at least. Free WiFi password wasn’t given on check in, but was provided later.

The staff at this hotel were very pleasant and helpful. The room was ok (what you would expect for a single room) it was big enough (just) but some more facilities in the room would be an improvement…eg: all you get is the ability to make an instant coffee…that’s all…and considering that the only food that is available/included is breakfast…(they have no other food available) plus, a small table & chair in the room would be handy, BUT the hotel is close to all shops,take-away food, restaurants etc and it is central to transport. Overall, my stay there was good and if I was ever back in that part of Scotland I would definitely stay there again. :-)

Extremely run down. Constant tannoy from the railway station next door. Took 15 mins to find ANY staff member to check us in. Woman serving breakfast was lovely. Breakfast was ok. Chef had no whites on cooking with an outside jacket on. Room was tiny and uncomfortable.

Reception staff were excellent. Couldn’t have been more attentive and breakfast left at the room door was a welcome surprise. Room was fine for single guest, but maybe add a towel hook and soap dish to the bathroom?

I run a small kayak club and we came to Scotland to paddle the Falkirk Wheel. I booked this hotel as I loved its old world charm and it was extremely convenient to everything and priced very reasonably. We stayed a week and my group could not have been happier! The Manager Liam was fantastic! Full of information and there to help you for what ever you needed! My group was exceptionally pleased with the hotel and staff. Thank you again!

Very handy place to stay when we were heading to TRNSMT festival. Right near the train station. Easy check in and check out. Friendly and helpful staff (not always on reception, but made it clear where you could find someone later on if you needed to). Room had what we needed. Decor could do with a tidy up in places in the room/bathroom but was clean. Only issue really was the shower, as that didn't always work and was poor pressure when it did. Breakfast was easy and included in price. Would stay again if we needed to be in the area.

This is a good three-star hotel located close to the town centre of Motherwell as well as the railway station and bus connections. The rooms are well-presented and very clean. Single room 105 had a comfortable bed and was very warm on a cold night. The room could do with some more table top space including a bedside shelf or cabinet.

Good, honest budget hotel. The staff were really good, as was the breakfast. Several options for food within minutes of walking - including a very good Chinese. If traveling by rail, five mins walk from the station. Have stayed before and will stay again.

My daughter and I stayed at the Bentley for 6 nights while exploring Scotland. The convenience of a 5 munute walk to town and the train station made the trip manageable. The hotel was cozy, clean, historic, and relaxing. A full breakfast was served daily to begin our daily adventures and the staff was like family. I would stay here again. Thanks to the staff for welcoming us.

We booked half board but found out on arrival that it's now only B&B so had to get refunded for the non dinners. The breakfasts were very good though and couldn't fault those. We obviously had to go out for dinner each evening.This hotel really needs a lot of refurbishments. Can't fault the staff as their doing as best they can. Staff were pleasant and lovely to speak to. I would only stay there again if they did the refurbishment it so badly needs.

Breakfast was a bonus as it was included in price. I can confirm it was excellent, freshly cooked with tea and coffee. Really pleasantly surprised
