River View Garden Resort

The location of the property is excellent. It is beside the river, beautiful surrounding and one can walk and dip in the river. But the condition of the property is not good. This is the only drawback of the property

Jay is terrific and the gardens are beautiful. The place is a little older but very pleasant. Could use a deep clean, though, in places like the window sills. Could use a new mattress, too.

I loved the private access to the lake, very convenient and beautiful way to start the morning. The manager, Jay, was very kind and flexible despite the curve balls we threw at him. The place was cozy but does need some work. I liked the convenience of having a kitchen.

This is a gorgeous area of the Russian River! The resort has the only beach area we saw on this stretch of the river. The well manicured grounds are a beautiful place to picnic or hang out at the beach. We had a great time in the paddle boat as well as with the kayak. Our room was cozy, although most of our time there was spent outdoors. The area is too beautiful to spend much time inside. The small kitchen met our needs and we used the bbq was awesome to have! The caretaker was so nice that we hated to leave. Definitely a place worth coming back to. The bathroom is very tiny, but worth it when you consider everything else. We had an excellent trip!

We got a mini suite and the bed was comfortable and unit was clean with soft new towels but those were the room highlights as well as a view of the river right in front with access if that is what you will be doing here. This was a step above camping and the property is old. There is no staff full time but self check in went OK. There is Wi-Fi but the whole area is lacking in cell service outside so be aware. We were there for a wedding nearby so did not use the property for leisure. There is a golf course down the road that served an excellent breakfast with a lovely view. The hotels along the river all look pretty old so this may not be uncommon for the area. If you are looking for a bargain this serves the purpose and had small kitchen and fridge but our room had only a large fan and no A/C unit. Some relatives had a room next to ours with free standing rolling A/C unit that sort of worked. Stairs to climb up to top rooms no elevators but we were able. If you need to sleep it’s OK.

Ok so this is a place that you have to appreciate the rustic charm and love the affordability. Jay is great. Responsive. Its not crowded. Theres available parking. The property is beautiful. The river folks are friendly...well most of them anyway. Yes the rugs could use changing, and the outside chairs could use a good scrubbing. But I will be making this my go to definitely.

Staff is great and area is great, 15 - 20 minutes to sonoma coast state park! But the place is completely outdated, not close to good dining, unless you drive. The outside area is dirty, full of dead bugs and the room had dead bugs on the windowsils and stained carpet, also had no fans or air conditioning, it's very very hot at night. Not sure it would be my first choice to stay again there.

This place is filthy! Bugs, mold, no hot water, and completely unsanitary. Do not stay here.

The manager was very friendly and helpful. He was right there when we parked. He lent us an excellent pair of binoculars and a corkscrew. The room was very clean. The view of the grounds and the river were exquisite. We would return in a heartbeat!

Toen we aankwamen was er niemand om ons naar de kamer te wijzen. Na een paar minuten kwam er iemand. Aangekomen in de kamer was deze niet klaar voor 3 personen. We hebben extra handdoeken en beddengoed gekregen voor de uitklapbare slaapbank. Achter de slaapbank lagen 2 legge flessen wodka. Het bed was goed. De kamer is zeker toe aan een update. De accommodatie ligt wel heel mooi aan de Russian River.

It amazes me. Someone could easily renovate the room. As it is, it smelled very bad, the sheets look like they are from a thrift store. Cabinets are damaged and paint is in very poor. They are obviously milking every dime from this place and barely even cleaning. There is someone’s contact lens stuck to the wall in the bathroom.

Like: I had to call the number posted on the front door when I arrived. The call was answered quickly and the host came immediately to check me in. She also added a heater to my room to help heat it up (without me asking). She was very friendly and confirmed where I could grab some food. She came up and knocked shortly before 9pm to make sure I was warm enough and ask if I needed more blankets. I could smell the detergent on the sheets (not sure about the blankets though) Didn't like: The room could use a little updating. The blinds were rickety and did not close properly. Luckily I carry sanitizer wipes because there were a few spots on the toilet seat and under the toilet seat.

We got a mini suite and the bed was comfortable and unit was clean with soft new towels but those were the room highlights as well as a view of the river right in front with access if that is what you will be doing here. This was a step above camping and the property is old. There is no staff full time but self check in went OK. There is Wi-Fi but the whole area is lacking in cell service outside so be aware. We were there for a wedding nearby so did not use the property for leisure. There is a golf course down the road that served an excellent breakfast with a lovely view. The kitchen stove was rusty and cabinets were old that the paint were already chipping. The window blinds were broken. We had to kinda fix it to cover atleast most part of the window. The room was a bit dark. Not enough lighting. I didn’t feel comfortable staying inside the room, more so sleeping on the bed. The bed sheets has overwhelming stench. Fortunately, we always carry our own bedsheets, blankets and pillow covers for such situation. Unless they upgrade, we don’t see ourselves staying in this property again.

Right off the hwy, this old delapidated three story rickety place is still beautiful. there are wide lawns overlooking the lake, and trees all around. Manager Jay is delightful, helpful and responsive. But, he can't change the fact that the stove top was rusty and broken, there weren't even two matching glasses, the dishes were chipped and it was all ill-equiped, the couch (which was supposed to be a futon or rollout) was filthy and did not roll out or open up. The window paint was peeling. The cracks in the walls made it look like our cabin would buckle at any moment. Dead mosquitos and flies everywhere. I feel badly giving a bad review because its a pretty area,but rickety , old and not so clean or quiet you can hear the road traffic)--is really what you get. It could be wonderful if they really deep cleaned it and updated it. I'm pretty sure its a health hazard and doesn't meet building and safety standards. Though a bit less expensive than some hotels in the area, it is WAY overpriced for what you get. Again, the manager was very kind and sweet, but that was the main asset of the place!

Property around is nice. Room was clean, bed was good. Otherwise room was utterly without any charm. Like a Motel 6, but with even less decor. Since I only used it for sleeping it was useful. But if I was there for a stay it was a miserable place to be stuck in.

From the moment we arrived, communication was disorganized and unclear. There was no staff onsite, no cell service, no Wi-Fi info, and a sign on the door instructing us to call or message via WhatsApp—without any way to do so. After leaving the property to find reception, I finally got a message directing me to retrieve a key from a dropbox—without any in-person interaction. On top of that, we were placed in a completely different room than the one we reserved. We had specifically booked a room with a private balcony for a special occasion, and instead were given a unit that opened to a shared walkway, with broken blinds and zero privacy. During our stay, we were blocked in by another car. When I asked for help, the only response was to “ask them to move it,” even though there was no indication of whose car it was or how to contact anyone else. No staff were present at any point, and there was no further communication. The room itself was outdated, worn, and clearly not maintained with care. What’s most frustrating is that the property seems to charge a premium simply because it can—not because it offers anything close to a quality experience. It feels like no real effort is made to maintain the space or provide basic hospitality. The attitude seems to be: “people will book it anyway."

A beautiful, charming stay right on the river! Loved being able to sit out on the deck in the sunshine and look out at the redwoods and the river.

I did not get the room I paid for. That was the reason I stayed there, to get the room with the spiral staircase to an upper bedroom. Instead, they put me in a cheaper room and gave my room to someone else. They did not even say sorry or attempt to make it up in any way.

This has now become my new yearly Memorial Day holiday spot. I was greeted immediately by the gentleman who is in charge here and each day he met my husband dog and I with an amazing attitude and smile. It was so peaceful that I didn’t want to leave.

The hotel looked abandoned. There was no one at the hotel when I arrived. I stayed for 30 minutes and returned a second time 15 minutes later. There was no sign of life anywhere. There was an old faded sign on the door with a phone number… and when I called the person didn’t know why their number was even on the door as he didn’t even worked there anymore. Clearly there had been some serious weather at the river in the last few weeks but that is nothing new in Guerneville. Owners need to handle reservations seriously. I had to leave and find a place to stay in the dark. I better not be charged for this.
