Hotel URH Palacio de Oriol

Very conveniently located for ferries from Bilbao . The building is in need of a little updating . Staff were all,very good . Food ok but nothing special particularly breakfast . Dog friendly which was important to us . Would certainly stay again

Although away from central Bilbao, it was an excellent hotel with character, in a nice populated neighborhood. The fact that they accept pets and their parking garage were significant benefits for us.

This is an architecturally lovely building and because of its age and situation, is not planned out in a conventional way. It is conveniently located within 10 minutes walk of Santurtzi where there are many restaurants and a short 6 - 7 minutes drive (5.6km) to Bilbao Ferry Terminal. The hotel provides shower and hand gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Rooms have air-conditioning. While the shower was over the bath, it was excellent but the screen allowed water onto the floor. The hairdryer needed replaced as it kept overheating and cutting out; an ongoing issue judging by the plastic deformation. During the day, the bar was on the terrace overlooking the bay, the marina and was very pleasant. The car park was underground and available with reservation costing two motorcycles €15 per night. We chose not to eat in either the restaurant or the cafeteria and sampled local fare instead. The lower level second floor smelt a bit damp and fusty, as did our room; as if nobody had been in it for a few days. The hotel hosts functions such as weddings. While any noise is curfewed at mid-night, if you need to sleep before that, it may be difficult especially if your room is located on the 2nd / 3rd floors. I make a plea not to let this place run down any more; the place is tired, needs decorated and management need to make checks on thorough cleaning of rooms and public areas. In my opinion it isnot 4 star quality.

Unique beautiful building, short walk to metro to Bilbao, safe parking, staff spoke excellent English, spacious room. Didn’t like restaurant which served the worst meal we’ve had over 10 day vacation. Food was flavorless, meat was terribly dry. Google maps did not find correct location so we hired an Uber to let us follow to the hotel. Streets are difficult if you don’t know the area.

Biggest problem was the restaurant was shut for dinner and we were told the nearest restaurant was about 800 metres away. There was a shelf of snack meal for sale at very high prices.

La zona de la ducha entre los azulejos tenia moho, nos dijeron que pasaría el de mantenimiento y no paso, nos tuvieron que cambiar de habitación porque caia agua del techo en la bañera y se cai la pintura del techo, y también tenía moho, para el precio que tiene no tenia ningún objeto de cortesía, pedimos un par de horas más que según el papel de nuestra habitación eran 5€ más por hora y nos cobraron 10€ por hora, poca insonorización teniendo las vías del tren al lado...

Excellent location, stayed overnight before a ferry the next day. The hotel is a little tired, but it us clean, great breakfast, close to the centre of the city and free parking. Would use again

Restaurant was nice but the room was disgusting. Very very cold and smelt very strong of drains all through the night. No gesture of good will from the hotel. Apart from wavering the £15 parking fee. Reception staff did not listen and we found them very rude.

I arrived to the hotel after a 10 hours drive from Algeciras because I was driving back to the UK. As mentioned in the description the parking is not always guaranteed, but you can park is the hospital car park across the road whixh is fine. However l had lots fo luggage to unload and asked if someone could help or at least take my car to the carpark unload it then leave. The female receptionist was very rude inconsiderate and unhelpful and said this is a 4* hotel not 5 so no one is available to help. i had to push the trolley is a very steep path and it got stuck and couldn’t move it luckily one of the guests saw me struggling and helped. The place is smells of mould and has mould everywhere. I don’t have asthma and I was struggling as I was coughing the whole night. The room was also dirty. I’m only giving this place a 1 star because of the gentleman next day who allowed me to take my car inside the carpark to load it as its way easier because I just had to take the lif and push the trolly for two seconds instead of a 10 min journey!!!! Will DEFINITELY NOT BE RECOMMENDING THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!! Horrible service.

De kamers worden goed bijgehouden. Kamers onder de grond en naast treinstation . Accommodatie vochtig. Personeel bij de receptie vriendelijk maar verder helaas niet.

Insects and dirty air.

We were not informed of a festival next to the property. We were provided ear plugs at check in. Additionally there was a mustiness to the air. We left immediately when we saw that the earplugs were necessary. This was not disclosed when we made the reservation.

The Air Condition was not cooling, just air like a fan. The hallways we’re coolder than my room. I did talk to the reception people and they change us to another room. Same history, but nobody went to check and Repair.

Initially it was difficult to locate the hotel. But we did so eventually. Warm welcome at reception and a lovely room. But the view was not inspiring. Overlooking the railway which was quite noisy with trains stopping and starting until late at night. We like to sleep with a window open and this was difficult with the noise.

The hotel was fine. It did the job. It's in a good location being so close to the train station - getting into Bilbao is very easy. Some nice places to eat just down the road. Rooms were fine, pretty standard affair, although cleaned to a high standard. Biggest disappointment was the service. Staff at check in and check out were cold and unwelcoming, bordering on rude. Very much not in keeping with how friendly I found Spanish people to be in general. The hotel bar is also a waste of time and not worth visiting. There was no outside seating at all despite clearly having space for it, and it normally being there (according to staff) presumably because it wasn't summer. At the end of the day it does the job.

The Palacio was absolutely superb in so many aspects, great location, superb staff and welcome, magnificent appearance and brilliant food (dinner & breakfast). The room was stunning, so much space and a great outlook. Defo on the return bucket list

An important points to be mentioned on the booking side: Some rooms face the noisy train station. No kettle in the rooms and the hallways need some smell management.

La habitación tenía una ventana redonda diminuta y muy alta. No se podía ver a la calla y daba sensación de claustrofobia.

Outdated property. Impossible to sleep as windows were not sound proof and facing train station (noise). Walls not sound proof.

Everything wonderful apart from having to wait 70 mins queuing at check in. After a 3 hour drive you don’t want to be waiting to get your room key. When I complained it was our fault - we’d arrived at the same time as others. What do you expect at a hotel with lots of rooms ! Also whilst in the queue it appears if you’re Spanish you can just push in ! Had a ground floor room, not a great view but did the job before getting the boat home

Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel breakfast was good many choices.

Why listing such hotel, the most horrible people at the desk. They forgot to call a cab an we lost a connection. Some employees told us the they get poorly paid and that is why desk people don’t care

This hotel was recommended to us as a luxury hotel. The Hotel sits in a great position within Bilbao & has great views. A quick & easy drive to the ferry port. We were disappointed to find that although the hotel is a beautiful building the interior is very modern. Bedroom comfortable. Restaurant very stark especially when eating alone. Food enjoyable.

Second time we’ve enjoyed Palacio Oriol for an extended stay. We recommend it to our friends! Comfortable, has everything we need, good breakfast, Beautiful view! Excellent location. Good price too.

Stayed before. That’s why we chose again this same hotel. Hotel staff are so welcoming and helpful. Evening meal and breakfast was very good and the voice was excellent. Will be booking with this same hotel on our next trip in October.

De locatie en de accomodatie waren prachtig en het was een prima hotel. Het enige echt mindere was het restaurant. Het eten was heerlijk en het personeel was aardig, maar het was een beetje chaos soms en je zat gewoon in een random stukje van het hotel, het voelde niet echt als een restaurant.
