We chose Harbourside Inn for the location - overlooking Nelson Marina - and because the description said there was a bar and restaurant onsite. In fact those facilities are not on the premises though they are very close. The area is industrial so quiet to walk around at night. It is an easy 20 minute walk to the town centre. The staff were excellent and room had everything we expected, including a balcony to sit out front.

Excellent amenities in the motel, clean, great Breakfast with kitchen facilities that could be used all day. Laundry with detergent available for token cost. Staff were very helpful and available 24/7. Beautiful view over harbour from harbour view rooms, only initial concern was the location on this motel being in an industrial park however we did not experience any problems as a result of this but if booking feel the need to know. Approx 10 minute drive to the beach facilities.

Nice hotel on the harbour. Felt very safe and quiet. There was a free continental breakfast that we didn't have time to check out. The showers had nice water pressure and the room had a mini-fridge. Parking was easy.

Property and the manager were good. Older property but quite clean. Also quite a large room. Nice view across the marina. Only negative is you really need a car. It's quite a walk into the township, especially at night as the lighting isn't great. There is one bar/restaurant across the road called The Anchor. It wasn't open the second night of our stay. We dined there the first night and it was a bit pricey for food that wasn't great. Staff were nice and being located right in the marina us a great asset but the price and food was a little average. One entree, two mains and two drinks was $100 . Not too bad but one of the steaks was rather Chewy.

Beautiful room overlooking the harbour. Very clean room and friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Easy to walk into town (about 30 mins) or to walk to the museums and ‘Centre of NZ’ along the picturesque river. Quiet area for comfortable sleeping and plenty of parking. Highly recommended.

An older hotel but completely modernized. Fantastic staff, clean and very comfortable room, wonderful complimentary breakfast. I also liked that it’s away from the busy streets coming into Nelson and close enough but also far enough away from the CBD. I’d definitely stay here again.

Good sized room that was nicely furnished and very clean. Room for 2 suitcases. Good sized modern bathroom. The manager was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a choice of cereal, yoghurt and fruit and toast and spreads. Not elaborate but similar to home. The motel is situated on the harbour in the industrial area. Good cafe restaurant on the water front and only 50 m from the hotel. Easy drive in Nelsen fir shopping and restaurant options.

Lovely roomy rooms. Shower was over the bath which was a bit treacherous but we had bought our own rubber mat. The bed was one of the best we have slept in while away! Very comfortable!

Unfortunately no sky tv only got a few channels. Was placed on main floor by the check in so lots of noise all night as people try to check in. Best place to eat is Styx 15 minutes walk down the road. Don’t bother with anchor, bad food.

Belinda was an amazing host. We stayed here before and after the Abel Tasman. She was kind enough to store baggage for us during our hike. I recommend paying a little bit more for the harbour view if possible as it was beautiful to wake up to.

The staff at this motel was outstanding! The lady at Reception went out of her way to insure we had a comfortable stay. We were even offered breakfast in the morning which was the first time of the many stays we had previous to this one. The motel was near a marina and it was fun to walk around and look at all the boats.

Harbourside Lodge is between a marina and an industrial park. One decent restaurant next door. We had to walk a few blocks to find other restaurants.We had to go looking for clean towels -management issue I guess. Breakfast offered is underwhelming.

The people managing the property are extremely nice people, the hotel is okay for the one night we stayed the only downside to me was the location. I assumed it was very close to the ocean however despite being on the city marina, it feels more like it is in the industrial park of the city.

The location is ideal - a 20 minute walk into town or the same along the coast to the fantastic Boat shed Restaurant. The bed was extremely comfortable and the views of the harbour excellent. A friendly host too

The motel is really clean and tidy but if you stay here make sure you book a port view otherwise you're pretty much on an industrial estate. That said the port and bar restaurant are a really nice place to finish your day. Town is about a 10 minute walk away....

In the harbour area of Port Nelson we were friendly and welcoming greeted by the owner of the lodge. Got a nice studio on the first floor facing the marinas with a small balcony. Nice and clean. Well maintained. Continental breakfast was a good relaxing start and included in the booking. We would gladly return.
