Good and bad: There were three things I could fault: 1. Lamps in the room used special sockets so on a hot day (and it was hot during our stay), you could not unplug the lamp by the window and plug in a fan as the sockets didn’t match the fan plug, meaning we were just circulating hot air and not able to pull in fresh air from the window using the fan; 2. There was no book in the room with guidance, you were forced to use the online AI to ask questions and get answers, if I want to ask a question, I will ask it of a real person thank you (although it did give the answer), but I would not need to ask if the room had a book with the information already provided (anticipate the question and have already answered before it is asked); 3. Breakfast was not really up to the standard I would expect from a place of such calibre and price (seemed like powdered eggs, bacon tasteless, sausages (had better quality in a b&b)) and on the first day, they were running late so waited on half the items being available (cereal, toast, croissants, fruit and yoghurt all available). Great room otherwise, GREAT STAFF, could not fault the staff, helpful, skilled, knowledgable (judging from the number of cocktails being consumed) and seemed genuinely happy to help. Could order food and drink from anywhere, and we did order from their beautiful terrace and grounds. Spa (pool only used) was great but did need to book in advance. I would stay again in a heartbeat, but not include breakfast.

Lovely grounds in a good location convenient to M5 but no traffic noise. Comfortable room and very clean. Bathroom modern but slightly small. Be ready to walk a long way from reception! Parking was an issue as large events were on and one evening we had difficulty finding a space and then had to walk from an unlit parking area. Pool and sauna very nice but hotel guests need to book slots and this was not mentioned at check in. Breakfast choices excellent. But buffet was crowded and chaotic with 100 people having to carry every plate or cup individually as no trays which was very inconvenient for families. Would visit again. Overall enjoyable but not a ‘luxurious’ experience.

As I have noted in the above survey my wife and I could not falt all of your services. The only point I would make is that there needs to be lots more car charging points for none Tesla cars.

I had a great stay! The hotel building and atmosphere were truly amazing. The bedrooms from 12-17 got quite warm due to poor ventilation in the hallways, so that's something to be aware of. The gym was decent and the sauna, pool, and jacuzzi were a nice bonus. The breakfast was excellent, though the internet connection was a bit spotty. Despite a few minor issues, I would definitely stay here again.

Great stay, we had a very nice pizza in the atrium bar and the cocktails were also nice. Breakfast was a buffet but lots of choice and good quality ingredients. Enjoyed an hour in the little pool, steam and sauna.

The hotel is beautiful and grand aesthetic from the moment of arrival. Staff were very friendly and the choice of restaurants offers a great tasting options. The breakfast was also vast with high quality foods on offer. Spa and gym were good with the pool at a good temperature. The slight negative is layout with the steam too and sauna upstairs. The rooms were clean and well layed out. They felt slightly tired but we're quiet and cosy. Lastly, plenty of electric chargers made the stay easy. Definitely worth it for a couples break or a wedding.

Fantastic venue and great, attentive staff. Food was great. The only downside was the gym doesn't open until 8am.

Had a lovely stay for a birthday get away. Really nice hotel with a good pool and jacuzzi. The sauna and steam room are up a set of stairs which felt odd leaving the pool area but once used to it it was fine. Sauna was way to hot for us though. Room was a basic double and i would upgrade to a better suite if its for comfort. Not to say the room isnt adequate it has everything you need and is more than good enough. Just could of had a little more luxury. Breakfast is great and food on offer is a good selection. It does get busy in the casual diner.

Disappointing. How you find this hotel depends on what you are looking for. It has a fundamental flaw...it has more rooms than it has the facilities to service. It's marketed as a spa hotel, yet you are limited to a single hour because it's too small for the hotel. There is not enough parking, and every day there was a 20 minute queue to get sat for breakfast. They are so intent on pushing numbers through the door that the customers suffer in the process. Would not go back.

We loved our stay here, it’s very spread out so you feel like you have a lot of space. It’s beautiful inside and outside, very comfortable with good facilities. The extras like the tea and coffee and toiletries were of very good quality. We used the spa (which you need to book) and the gym, both were small but had everything you needed. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend and return.

Good breakfast selection, the major issue i had with my stay was the cleanies of the room, the first room we had the radiator was brooken on full heat, a simple fix which the hotel would have know about prior to us checking into the room if they have done an inspection after the previous people. Their was pen marks on the bed sheets and around the coffee station their was dirt and water in the glasses from when they have been washed. Their was scuff marks all around the hotel, hotel requires a lick of paint. The hotel did accomdiate and allowed us to change rooms. The attention of detail around the hotel when it comes to cleaning needs to increase, i noticed by one of the water stations in the corridor a spider had mades it home and was their 2 days later.

Dirty bathroom - taps, door, floor behind door and bathmat. Reported to reception on first morning, but 2nd attempt only half-hearted, so we cleaned ourselves - last time we hadvto do this was manybyears ago at Pontins, not a 4 star hotel. Noisy plumbing from next room's shower an effective early morning alarm. Very unpleasant evening restaurant supervisor Emilia. Rest of restaurant staff were lovely. All other staff very friendly and helpful, all smiling and greeting us whenever we passed by. Reported everything to reception, who blamed most of the negatives on a high staff turnover - only 2 reasons for this (poor conditions, poor wages) We spent our honeymoon at this hotel, returning for our 5th Anniversary. Such a shame that such a beautiful has gone downhill.

We stayed in Room 168 at De Vere Tortworth Court and were left deeply disappointed. As longstanding De Vere guests, we expected far better. The stay was riddled with failures — some frustrating, others downright dangerous. We were given the wrong room at check-in and had to request a move. No porter assistance was available, despite us struggling with a 10-month-old baby and luggage. A cot we had pre-requested and confirmed by phone was missing, then took over 6 hours to arrive. When it did, it was unsafe and collapsed during the night. Our baby ended up sleeping in our bed. The room itself was dirty: the bathroom was unhygienic, the bathtub filthy, and only one towel was provided for two adults and a baby. The sofabed was unsafe (it collapsed when sat on), stained, and unclean. The outdoor bar was unusable due to a serious wasp infestation. Worst of all, a scalding hot plate of pasta was placed directly in front of our baby in the restaurant. He reached out and burned his hand. No warning was given. This was entirely avoidable and inexcusable. We also found a highchair covered in beer. Overall, we were shocked at the lack of cleanliness, safety, and basic care. This experience fell far below any acceptable standard. Be warned if you’re travelling with children — this hotel is not family-safe.

Rooms need an update, bathroom had lots of mould and bath was always blocked, rooms needed a really good clean of carpets and curtains lots of dust. Decor can do with modernisation, with the amount hotel charge it needs an update and refurb

Room was okay but thick cobwebs were around the curtains,dirty window sills and draughty windows. Food was lovely and the wedding we attended was very well organised but the music was so loud we couldn't hear what anyone was saying. Sorry to say that we could not sleep because of the music blaring till one o'clock in the morning. Tortworth court was a beautiful venue let down by cleanliness and noise,

I don’t usually do reviews but this hotel is stunning. From the beautiful grounds to the premium quality & cleanliness of the rooms, everything was fabulous. I stay in Bristol & Gloucester quite regularly for work purposes & will be using this as a base camp for both. Outstanding!

The location, the manor house and the surrounding area are absolutely stunning. That’s exactly what you would want in a country escape in the Cotswolds. Unfortunately there were a couple of negatives. Firstly, cleanliness. On arrival the rooms were not well cleaned, with stains on the bed sheet and dirt on the bathroom floor. The rooms were also incredibly dusty, causing my mum to have a bad allergic reaction and breathing issues. Secondly, housekeeping. The bed sheets weren’t changed in 3 days, nor were the towels and mugs. We also didn’t like the attitude of the staff at the reception - they were all unnecessarily aggressive towards all of the guests. Other than these few points, we loved our stay at the Tortworth. Breakfast was great, the bar staff were super friendly and the hotel itself is beautiful.

All public areas, food and location excellent. First room allocated had not been prepared. Second room had mould in bathroom, rusty towel rail , soft bed. Later found mattress smelt musty. Room good size but very dark.

I have used this hotel regularly over the last 9 years and have always really enjoyed staying. Sadly, this stay was poor. The room was in need of an update. The bathroom was quite dirty, the sink plug was left stuck in (I freed it with a teaspoon!) the shower control was so stiff it struggled to move, if an older/arthritic guest had used it they wouldnt have been able to turn it on. It looked warn out along with a very dirty looking rubber bath anti slip mat-I took my chances without using it! The room was basic and very hot with no a/c. There was a lot of guest noise with a wedding taking place. I had a very disturbed night. The tv was ancient and numerous Freeview channel’s were unavailable. It had no ‘smart’ functionality and therefore the ability to stream or even use BBC I player etc was not available. It was like a stay from the 80’s or early 90’s, it just need the Corby trouser press and teas made to complete the look! The restaurant had had a flood and as such was shut on my arrival. I ordered food at the Atrium bar which was ok. No one checked of if the meal was ok or if I’d like more drinks/food. I went back to the bar to order my own. Upon checkout I was not asked how my stay was, I then flagged up some of the issues with my room and was given a simple sorry without any offer of further investigation/ remedy. It was a disappointing end to a disappointing stay, the service I have had and the rooms I have stayed in before have previously been very good.

Overpriced if staying in a courtyard property. A good 5 minute walk to an outlying Courtyard room. Quite a bland room overall. No bottled water supplied in room. Lack of 3 pin plugs near bed. Tiny TV attached to the wall. Uncomfortable bed, 2 single beds stuck together. Food was ok, not special for the price. Setting was very pretty. Staff very friendly. The main building is impressive but if you’re staying in an outlying building it loses the appeal.

Although the reception area is breath taking it kinda went sideways after that. We had a deluxe manor suit which was no where the standard I was expecting. The room itself was okay albeit the carpet needed a good hovering. I and my wife are disabled so being situated on the second floor was at first okay as we knew there was a lift however once you eventually arrived on your floor ( lift is somewhat dated and slow) we found more steps down to our corridor. This didn’t bode well for me as I struggle to bend my knees so finding out once we were in the room that the shower was over a bath. The room decor and presentation was good at first it’s only when you start to dig you find things don’t work right. The view from the window was hugely disappointing with it looking down on the delivery area. So in the morning you had the beeping of Lorrie’s reversing and pallet truck and cages rattling around. There is no aircon in the building so when it’s sunny you just melt. The atrium restaurant was nice but again it has a glass roof so it became unbearable to sit there which is a good thing in some respects as the restaurant is soo expensive a lot of guests try and get in there but it has limited seating. The hotel feels more like it caters for the corporate client not the family holidays and this is very apparent with the average disabled facilities. Having the sauna and steam room on the upper floor is a joke in a dated and poor maintained pool area. Just felt dirty and neglected.

The hotel is beautiful but no aircon in rooms where you can barely open the windows, yes it’s an old building but it was so hot I had zero sleep! A desk fan was not cutting it! If I stayed again it would have to be in The winter months

First room was too small and dingy. 2nd room was better but too noisy because of air con units outside the window. 3rd room was much better until we had a disturbed night's sleep due to the room above having a row at 1.30am. We moved again for our 2nd night to a suite which was fine. The staff throughout all of this were very good - Lois, Richard, and Charlotte Breakfast on both mornings was very good. The hotel is stunning and in wonderful grounds.

A grand-looking property and there are some good aspects to it for sure - the dining and kitchen-related aspects are the highlight being well-cooked and well-prepared with serving staff that are courteous and good-humoured. The main hotel experience itself however is a bit of a let-down. The staff around the the accommodation and front-of-house seem worn-down and a bit disinterested. Our first room had ants in it - not just around the patio doors but they were also in the bed. The desk clerk didn't seem too concerned by this and offered no apology, simply asking where the ants were seen. We were moved to a different room upstairs and on the other side of the block (even though we'd paid more to have the courtyard...) and whilst this room did not have ants, it did have to suffer with the loud thumping noise of an event until the middle of the evening. The rooms don't have air conditioning so it's quite stifling on a hot day. The windows all have security cables preventing them from being opened properly unless you trapse back down to reception to sign a waiver and get someone to come back up (over an hour later) to unlock them for you - the chap mentioned this being a frequent request - which begs the question as to why they don't pro-actively offer this on arrival if they know it's going to happen? The creaky, super-budget desk-fan supplied fell apart when we touched it, sending a shower of dust across the room. The mattress quality was OK - which was one saving grace.

The hotel is in a nice setting within large private parkland but also convenient to the motorway and touring the Cotswolds. Parking is good and the hotel has good facilities and a nice restaurant. I had a deluxe room. Fine for just one night and the bathroom was good. However, it did not feel 'deluxe'. The fridge/ mini bar had been removed, so nowhere to store cold drinks and water: I stayed in the summer heat. Bed pillows were small and rubbish. And this not acceptable in a deluxe room.The TV system was too dated. So, I could not stream onto it with my devices.

I can only award this hotel 3 stars, sorry. The surroundings are fabulous. It’s beautiful as you drive up to Tortworth Court and when you enter, the decor is lovely. Unfortunately, the receptionist that greeted me couldn’t even crack a smile, but I thought maybe she’s had a bad day and gave her the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, fast forward to when I get to my room. It’s freezing. Obviously the housekeeping in this “4 star” establishment didn’t think to turn the radiators on ready for when guests arrive…when it’s barely 5 degrees outside. I thought I’d ring down to reception to ask for a heater. No answer. Apparently they don’t like to answer the phone. They like guests to use a chat bot. So 3/4’s of an hour later, I get a heater delivered, by which time this has allowed me to check out the room (232). All I can say is, I’ve stayed in better premier inn rooms. There were no 4 star touches. It was drab. I was staying there with my disabled son and he is easily pleased. So, unfortunately, I had to stay put, otherwise I would have braved the long walk to reception to see the miserable receptionist and got the room changed because, to me, it was not good enough. I can add photos to this review, if it will let me, but otherwise you’ll just have to imagine all the lack of attention to detail because I ran out of space to explain. On a positive note, the staff in the Atrium were lovely. Breakfast was nice, but some rude staff who couldn’t be bothered to speak ruined it.

A beautiful hotel and grounds, staff were good especially Alex in the Atrium. Food was lovely for dinner and breakfast. Only downside was that room was so hot even with a fan. We stayed on a Friday night and it was extremely busy with a wedding and prom, so think we’d try mid week next time

The room we were booked into had some maintenance issues and seen better days. Alex the Duty manager was great- showed us an alternative room in the main building and personally took care of moving luggage. Only thing that takes away from 5* was the attitude and service of some of the bar and waiting staff, breakfast seemed a bit all over the place in both getting a table and the service, young staff arguing about what time it finished and bumping into tables - some 6th form common room vibes going on! The library bar was a wonderful room although the shut early with the barman ignoring a number of people (myself included) who had not realised and were waiting to be served. Told bluntly we could stay in the room but would have to get any drinks from the atrium bar- walked there only to be met a service charge on the drinks I was taking back to the library and a ‘it’s policy’ with a shrug from whom I can only guess was the manager as she was not in uniform. Maybe I should have countered that with my own service charge for the legwork. Little things like this detract from the great service others delivered during our stay.

We had a lovely time at Tortworth Court. The food was exceptional- staff very friendly throughout- breakfast staff need a bit of direction as was a bit chaotic- all very young so easy fix. Grounds and venue are spectacular the high ceiling are really high ceiling with beautiful artwork on the ceiling and period silk wall papers throughout the ground floor. The atrium and orangery are stunning. As are the grounds. Smart TVs in bedrooms would be a nice upgrade. All in all very pleasant stay

Great hotel, poor service Check in - 4pm Arrive early and couldn't get in (this is fine we were aware we were early), told to come back at 4pm Arrived at 4pm to be told room not ready and check in is between 15.00-17.00) and come back in 20 mins, go back and told still not ready Room finally available at 16.45, room was an accessible room but furthest possible location away 2 days in, keys stopped working so had to track all the way to reception to get resolved. Hotel was nice but customer service needs to improve a lot and think about guests with disabilities are affected by their failures Also as well as paying for room they take an additional £50 for every night there to hold (nowhere was this mentioned) this is not returned for 7-10 days after leaving.

We had a sudden death in the family and Expedia emailed/phoned the property and we phoned so many times but no response at all. I even sent an Instagram message. Disappointed with this poor service.

Wonderful hotel with lovely grounds perfect for a summer evening , rooms were well kept and the beds perfectly soft, dinner was superb and a huge choice for breakfast. Location is great for day trips to both bath and Bristol as well as into the Cotswolds but a car is a must as location of the hotel is a bit secluded. the staff are great and very friendly, Will definitely be coming back

Nice hotel and lovely location. The food in the restaurant was good and we had excellent service at the hotel. Some long distances to some of the rooms so make sure you want to put your steps in. It would be a big benefit if there were more regular DC EV chargers (not all Tesla) - we were unable to charge our vehicle at the hotel.

Blown away. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Stunning venue & grounds, wonderful staff, comfy well equipped room, amazing dinner and breakfast. Can’t wait to return.

Lovely couple of days away at the Tortworth. Rooms have been refurbished which are tasteful - main restaurant needs a new carpet! Nice furnishings throughout otherwise. Bit of a maize inside to find though. The food in the main restaurant was very good, the Atrium bar left a bit to be desired with pricing and what you had for the money. Overall thought the food was pricey enough. Staff very pleasant. Couple of maintenance issues in the room but after a big refurb to be expected really. Pool was lovely and my Husband said the gym was good.

We had a mostly enjoyable stay at this hotel. The setting was lovely, with beautiful grounds, and our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Despite initial concerns from some reviews, we found the accommodations to be well-maintained. The breakfast and reception staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, which made our stay even more pleasant. However, the experience was soured by the staff at the Atrium Bar, who were borderline rude and seemed uninterested in providing good service. Unfortunately, the food at the Atrium Bar was overpriced and disappointing, which discouraged us from dining at the restaurant, especially since parts of the menu overlapped. Breakfast was the highlight of the dining options, but the overall experience at the bar left a lot to be desired.

We were very impressed by the Tortworth court . We stayed in a standard room which was of a good size and well furnished . We enjoyed our evening meal in the bistro. A very good breakfast was served in the restaurant with views over the beautiful gardens.The staff were pleasant and helpful.

The hotel was lovely especially the grounds. Staff friendly and always available. However when we had our anniversary meal my salmon was dry along with purple mash that was extremely dry and hard like a rock cake. I left it and the lovely waitress got as a free bottle of Prosecco and a cheese board to make up for what I couldn’t eat. The night ended with me being sick which has put me off fish for a while. I would stay at the hotel again, but I wouldn’t eat in the restaurant again.

A lovely building set in beautiful grounds, it looks stunning as you approach on the drive in. Quick and easy check-in process, but unfortunately, our first room was stiflingly hot and we changed rooms without issue. The evening meal in the 1853 was just OK….the £13 ‘Duck Terrine’ starter just looked like Pâté, the £7 Caesar Salad was dressed with what tasted like a generic supermarket bottled dressing and the £9 Tiramisu was ‘sweaty’ suggesting it had been prepared away from the property. Overall, I get the impression the building and fabulous grounds do a lot of ‘heavy lifting’ for the rest of the experience. Just my opinion…..

The breakfast and provision for gluten free was outstanding.
