Great value! Loved the patio access with fenced off area for our pup. Easy check in, great room amenities. Only things missing were some coat hooks and a floor lock for the sliding door. Highly recommended!

Access into the property was not convenient off the main busy road into the parking lot. One direction in and out only. I woke up in the morning to a homeless person right behind my car with all her belongings and stolen tools spread out so I had to move my car to load it. Overall not a great experience and won’t be back.

Check-in procedure was well communicated ahead of time. Room was dog friendly, clean, well appointed and had an amazing step-out common dog run out the sliding back door of the room. A few small omissions would have gained it 5 stars - missing a paring or slicing knife in the kitchenette (it did have a vegetable peeler though!); no chair to sit and relax in the room, only 2 backless bar stools for the table; a roll of paper towels for the kitchenette and a box of Kleenex tissues for the room would have been convenient. The property is well priced, very convenient to Nanaimo attractions and has plenty of easy access parking. It should be noted, however, that it is right on a high traffic main highway through Nanaimo and road noise is significant, but is really only noticeable at the door entry to the room and it quiets down in the late evening. We and our dog enjoyed our stay, and would recommend The Spot to others.

The room had a terrible mold odor. Upon investigation we found black mold coming through the wallpaper behind the bed. This is not just an inconvenience issue.... this is a health issue. There is a serious water leak somewhere in the building. Upon returning home every item of clothing (including the ones inside our suitcases) needed laundering due to the imbedded terrible smell.

Genau was man von einer Unterkunft in der Preiskategorie erwartet. Über den Schimmel und den entsprechenden Geruch in unserem Zimmer konnte weder die Renovierung noch die Klimaanlage, welche auf der kältesten Stufe stand, hinwegtäuschen. Der Geruch setzte sich in Kleidung und Haaren fest. Insgesamt also mehr Schein als Sein und nicht mal die 75€ pro Nacht wert. Lieber etwas mehr ausgeben, auch wenn es nur für eine Nacht ist. Hier definitiv nie wieder.

This is a nice little motel with quite clean, nice, updated rooms, and a really nice bathroom. The only downside is the general location is on a pretty busy road, so if you're a light sleeper and they give you one of the street-facing units, that might not work well for you.

This is a quirky tiny motel close to the ferry. The keyless entry is convenient. The room is nicely decorated with eclectic wall surfaces and flooring. There is a barn door on the bathroom and rainshower & handheld shower wand. A small kitchenette with sink, microwave, coffe maker, and small fridge/freezer. The hotel had a small fenced in yard for the 3-4 downstairs rooms with a deck across the back. Each of the downstairs rooms had patio doors into the fenced yard. Small table and chairs were in front of each room. The motel is Tiny and Cute so the bed pretty much takes up all the floor space. It is located on a very busy road.

The room was in good condition and appeared to be clean. I did find a hair ball on the extra blanket. There was a very strong scent in the room which lead me to believe it was covering up something. The rooms and door needs sound proofing as the TV from other units and the road noise was significant. I really appreciated the kitchenette and supplies provided within. Having a dish cloth and tea towel would have been helpful but I managed with a hand towel. I also appreciated having Netflix set up for viewing.

The room was great for the price! Renovated, cozy and everything you needed was there. Loved the rainfall shower and bathroom. The lady at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again. The only downside was the loud traffic outside the motel. But you can fix that with ear plugs and the keypad was touchy and annoying for entry and exit. But like i said great value!

The room itself looks clean enough, and the shower is great. However, when we got there the air "conditioner" was blasting on MAX heat, making the room truly unbearable. It was also only temperate on the coldest setting and louder than a jet plate taking off, which all made for a miserable stay.

booked a stay at The Spot Boutique Hotel and was extremely disappointed with how I was treated. At the last minute, they cancelled my reservation without proper notice or explanation, leaving me completely stranded with nowhere to go. There was no effort made to help me find alternative accommodation or even a sincere apology. This kind of unprofessional behavior is unacceptable for a hotel that claims to care about its guests. If you’re looking for reliability and respect, I strongly recommend booking somewhere else. A business that treats paying customers this way doesn’t deserve your trust.

The check in experience was a nightmare. I was called to see when I was checking in, arrived at the property adn no one there to meet me. Someone had to check me in, could not access the door, tried to call the number that called me and no answer. Drove to the Buccaneer Inn that had called me and was told someone was at the property! Drove back and there still was no one st the desk!! Finally the check jn person saw me. Upon check in you get a piece of pape 2 x 2 with your check in info...so easy to lose! Overall was a frustrating experience

Hotel is right on the highway and central to everything. Yes it can have traffic noise, but putting the fan on in the bathroom creates enough white noise that you can't hear it. For the price point; value is high. Kitchenette is fully stocked. Staff is prompt to reply to any questions. Will be staying there for my next visit.

I've stayed at this hotel three separate times, and each visit has been consistently great. The rooms are very clean, and the staff is incredibly helpful, responding quickly to any questions or issues. I really appreciate that you can communicate with staff via phone call or text, so there's no need to track someone down in person. The self check in and check out process is super convenient, making arrivals and departures hassle-free. The only minor downside is that some of the box springs are quite squeaky, so an update in that area would be nice. There is some road noise depending on where your room is but that's to be expected given the location. I will definitely be back!

Late check-in was a hassle, I had to fill out their automated check in 3 times before I got my door code, the room was not clean, every time I got up from my side of the bed it made a sound like it was going to break, and so NOISY! Not just road noise but the walls are paper thin so you hear everything from everyone. We booked 2 nights but checked out the morning after the first night. The staff did try to place us in a different room but I had already booked elsewhere and wasn\'t interested in spending another sleepless night at The Spot. Even after checking out with the front desk I still received an automated checkout request the next day. The system provided an "invoice" with no price or tax details and it had the wrong room number on it. I have made several requests for a proper invoice but they are completely ignoring me which is why I am leaving this review. We will never be back to this self serve hostel style motel.
Late check-in was a hassle, I had to fill out their automated check in 3 times before I got my door code, the room was not clean, every time I got up from my side of the bed it made a sound like it was going to break, and so NOISY! Not just road noise but the walls are paper thin so you hear everything from everyone. We booked 2 nights but checked out the morning after the first night. The staff did try to place us in a different room but I had already booked elsewhere and wasn\'t interested in spending another sleepless night at The Spot. Even after checking out with the front desk I still received an automated checkout request the next day. The system provided an "invoice" with no price or tax details and it had the wrong room number on it. I have made several requests for a proper invoice but they are completely ignoring me which is why I am leaving this review. We will never be back to this self serve hostel style motel.

This is a nice little motel with quite clean, nice, updated rooms, and a really nice bathroom. The only downside is the general location is on a pretty busy road, so if you're a light sleeper and they give you one of the street-facing units, that might not work well for you.

It's the perfect spot if you are arriving from the ferry and need a place to stay for the night. I arrived there at 11 p.m. Check-in was easy, and communication was great and helpful. It is not quiet, so it is probably not the best for a long stay, but it is definitely very convenient, and everything was efficient. Also, it is pet-friendly, and that was the positive part for us. We will return if we arrive late at night or leave with the early morning ferry.

Clean. Cutely updated. Comfy beds. Beautiful shower and bathroom. Everything we needed for one night stay. We were on the second floor back side and traffic noise was not noticeable.

Access into the property was not convenient off the main busy road into the parking lot. One direction in and out only. I woke up in the morning to a homeless person right behind my car with all her belongings and stolen tools spread out so I had to move my car to load it. Overall not a great experience and won’t be back.

While this property has some nice upgrades… Building and doors are old and sound travels right through. Location is literally on the highway… so expect traffic noise and a lot of foot traffic around the building. While it worked for our short stay, would not stay again.

We loved this boutique hotel. It was conveniently located close to the ferry and not too far from downtown. The room had a fridge, microwave, sink and a 2 burner stove. Not sure why some people were complaining about the check-in process? I thought it was very easy, you get an email that tells you when it's time to check-in and you get the door code. Easy, peasy!

This is a good small hotel. The access was contactless, and went smoothly. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. You could hear road noise because it is on a main road, we could sleep fine.

Aside from the no-contact check-in policy (a major hassle) The Spot exceeded expectations . The location is a bit grotty—but then, this is Nanaimo!—but the property was clean, the staff lovely and the rooms simple but clean. The aid conditioning was a bit noisy but overall good value for a decent price.

The staff is always very helpful and accommodating. The Spot is my go to choice of stay. Rates are good, beds are comfy. This location is pet friendly and is very convenient. I forgot an item there and when I went back at my next stay it was located and cared for. The Spot is my favorite place !
