It was absolutely fine nice hotel nice rooms only downside is the hotel due to its town center location doesn’t have a carpark but there a carpark 5 minutes walk away. Also you can park outside for an hour so you don’t have to walk with your bags

The radiator wasn't working,but the manager sorted that. The room was of good standard for the price. Breakfast was to order plus cereals etc. And under a tenner! I've had some terrible buffet breakfasts in hotels before. The only downside was I parked the car too far away in a public car park as there is no on site parking. I later found out there was a nearer car park, but mine was only about 10 minutes away. I expected more noise from outside at night, but wasn't disturbed.I always travel with an eye mask and earplugs just in case.

I really liked the fact that this was a traditional town centre hotel, with local staff who knew what was wanted, nothing fancy but very good for an overnight stay. I also liked the fact that I could book room only. However, there is nothing on the website about parking - I think it needs to say that there is no dedicated parking, that there are bays outside for one hour only, so okay to load and unload, but needs to be an indication that there is a short stay car park behind the hotel and a long stay one a little further away.

If you go by car, Brecon is not the place to go. Parking is a nightmare. Even though the hotel informs you that there is no onsite parking it doesn’t tell you the the car parks are mostly short stay so you have to keep moving your car around to every 2-4 hours. Not a very relaxing way to have a break, worrying about getting a fixed penalty notice! Parking is free between 6pm - 8am so no chance of a lie in!! This should all be made clear in the hotel’s blurb. We would never of booked it if we’d known. What a waste of money.

Room was perfect for me for a 1 night stay. I was sorry there was no lift but I understand the problems with a listed building. I was on the 2nd floor but will certainly ask for 1st or ground floor next time.

Excellent location in the town centre with easy walking access to the cathedral and the canal basin. I had a clean and comfortable room with a nice en suite. Breakfast and dinner were very good. A pity there's no lift but I was warned about that and I managed the 2 flights of stairs despite being 70 and lame. I would certainly like to stay at the Wellington again.

The Wellington is a lovely place in the middle of town, a real wood fire in the middle of the pub and a great menu. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only down fall is the parking but there are plenty of carpacks near to the hotel.

Central Hotel but Brecon has no 24hr parking, you can park until 8am but you have to put a ticket on rom this time. We manage to find a parking space in the street about quarter of a mile away rom the hotel 😩

I booked us in for two nights through Hotels.com, and then read the online reviews, which were far from positive... On arrival they couldn't find any trace of our booking, but did book us in. The room wasn't serviced during our stay, it was tired and needed a deep clean, the TV didn't work. All of the staff need customer care training. Lots of items werent available on the menu and it was extremely slow service. There were things missing or the food was luke warm when it came out. No, we didn't bother to complain to the staff as we knew it would be pointless, but I will be following it up with Brains and Marston HQ.

Had to move rooms due to no tv remote. Staff gave us a replacement but still didn’t work. The room they gave us was less superior than the room we booked. Hairs found in the bedding and in the bathroom along with dirty black mould.

May fair! Directly outside our window from 1st night set up to dismantle until midnight. 3 days of LOUD noise! No secondary glazing and window didn’t shut completely. Should have been warned when booking!! 4th day beer delivery directly below our room!! No sleep at all. Luke warm water so no bath just very quick shower. Had to ask for fresh towels and toilet roll on day 3. Shower rail and radiator falling off wall and mould in bathroom.

The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The shower room could do with some attention. Rusty soap marks down the wall by the sink where the handwash is attached to the wall. The shower hose needs replacing and the shower doors look like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks. The young lady serving breakfast was lovely, but let down by the rather poor breakfast options. Honestly-Cocoa Pops, Rice Crisies and Frosties and Crunchy nut cornflakes- not a 3 year old to be seen. No jam, no marmalade and no yoghurt. Nice staff and bedroom spoiled by grotty shower room and poor breakfast.

Check in was fine, manager told us restaurant open til 9pm for food, did not recommend us to book, around 6.30pm we came down to eat & told tables were fully booked and were not even serving food in bar area as too busy. Room was in need of update, very sloping floor, bathroom looked dirty & tired. Definitely not worth the money we paid.

The hotel is nicely decorated and very clean. Shower took a long time to warm up but when it did it was fine. The beds ate really comfy. Sunday lunch was lovely and the staff are friendly.

Boooked a table in the restraunt and one we arrived (a 5 hour journey), we were told there was no chef. Reluctantly decided to try and find somewhere else in the town (No viable suggestions from the Hotel staff), dropped our bage before going out and found they were taking orders for other people in the Restaurant. we queeried this but they still wouldn't feed us. Also the toilet roll (the only one in the room) was wet and one cup in the room had what looked like wet ketchup on the handle. No room heating in the morning

The hotel is in the town centre but is quiet. Our room was adequately furnished, clean and comfortable. Information in the room assured me that there would be plant based milk alternatives for breakfast, so I decided to pay for breakfast in the hotel instead of going out to a cafe. In fact there was only dairy milk available, but I wasn't told until Id already started my breakfast.

I booked us in for two nights through Hotels.com, and then read the online reviews, which were far from positive... On arrival they couldn't find any trace of our booking, but did book us in. The room wasn't serviced during our stay, it was tired and needed a deep clean, the TV didn't work. All of the staff need customer care training. Lots of items werent available on the menu and it was extremely slow service. There were things missing or the food was luke warm when it came out. No, we didn't bother to complain to the staff as we knew it would be pointless, but I will be following it up with Brains and Marston HQ.

Food was absolutely amazing. Dinner and breakfast was outstanding and great of choice for everyone ( vegan and vegetarian options olso available). Rooms are big and very clean. Also nice and friendly staff. Definitely recommend and will book this hotel again .

Great hotel in center of brecon town ,ideal for walking home from local pubs ..lovely Christmas tree and nice decor through the bar and restaurant area, comfortable bed , nice rooms .had good in restaurant, was very nice ,had ribeye steak .

Did not make us aware there was no parking. Furniture and decor very tired and was told on arrival (after a long journey) that the kitchen at this “gastropub” was closing just before evening meal time because they needed to prepare for Sunday lunch. Bathroom window overlooking street was not frosted and only had a black out blind which made things very dark. Informed them that I had an early start on Sunday morning and they did not even offer to make up a breakfast bag or similar

Old coaching house/hotel, with lots of periid features. Staff we're helpful, Sunday roast tasty and breakfast satisfying. A few bits of wear and tear in the room that really should be fixed (broken toilet roll holder, holes in room wall and extraction fan in bathroom not working). However, the inclusion of a fan was an excellent addition and the bed was very comfortable.

The bar staff were unsure how to mix drinks taking 5- 10 mins. Coffee bags used to make coffee in a teapot, come on. The 'classic' full breakfast appeated to have been waiting to be served, it wasn't busy,vand you'd have got a better breakfast in a cafe for the same price. The room was fine, just what we wanted for our short stay, and we'll probably stay there again, but they need to up the game, especially with breakfast..

Room was clean staff were friendly but not sure they completely knew what they were doing at check in. Went to go for breakfast and they didn’t have a chef on which was a shame.

The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The shower room could do with some attention. Rusty soap marks down the wall by the sink where the handwash is attached to the wall. The shower hose needs replacing and the shower doors look like they haven’t been cleaned in weeks. The young lady serving breakfast was lovely, but let down by the rather poor breakfast options. Honestly-Cocoa Pops, Rice Crisies and Frosties and Crunchy nut cornflakes- not a 3 year old to be seen. No jam, no marmalade and no yoghurt. Nice staff and bedroom spoiled by grotty shower room and poor breakfast.

Har aldrig liknande inchecking och mottagning, dom vägrade lämna ut nycklarna till rummet pga sen incheckning, det var ett papper som måste fyllas i och det vägrade flunken, så polis fick tillkallas…

The Hotel is nice if a little bit dated in places. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was nice and good value and it is in a great location for exploring the town and the Brecon Beacons national park. We paid £47 for a Sunday night which was exceptional value. At this price, you can overlook the hotel being a little tired in places.

Decent helpful staff. Hotel a bit tired. Shower not powerful. Small bath. Non frosted bathroom glass looking directly out onto the Main Street! Car park not belonging to hotel, didn’t eat there.

A really lovely stay and a great warm bath, a little noise from from the town centre on a Saturday night so suggest a room on the other side if you sleep with the window open. Lovely helpful staff, and a great breakfast.

The young staff were wonderful and very helpful, the manager was boorish and snappy. I stayed with my sister in law in a twin room and although quite shabby it was clean. The car parking facility was non existent and we had to go back every two hours to put a parking ticket on until 6pm and overnight to 8am there were no charges, so no relaxing in bed with a cuppa. We didn’t eat anything there choosing to eat out was a better more favourable option. We are both in our middle 70’s and although reasonably fit it was tough our own luggage
