I booked a twin seaview room for £180 a night because the photos in ‘select a room’ on hotels.com showed the room had French doors onto a balcony. Beautiful. But on arrival our twin seaview room had no balcony just windows. I queried it with reception who said only ‘superior’ twin sea view rooms have balconies. I think it is unfair and misrepresentative to use photos of a superior room to illustrate what turned out to an inferior standard room option. I was very disappointed. The rest of the stay was ok. Best thing about stay was the location close to everything. But this comes with a lot of road noise and sound of a tractor cleaning the beach for an hour at 6am. Windows are single glazed so earplugs were definitely needed. Also parking was difficult.

Bar not open until 3pm so could not have coffee ☕️in the lounge bar area enjoying the sea view at 11.30am until lunchtime. Spoiled the hotel (as opposed to a b&b) experience. Was told to use coffee maker in my room which had inadequate 💺 seating (a small double plus no sea view) . Last night appreciate reception getting me this room on same floor as my friend who’s there for a week, after I booked my room on a different floor.

Location perfect, great views from the sea view rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bar lacks several drinks ie draft ale and ingredients for cocktails. Seems the menu is for all the groups hotels, but not all are stocked. Barman handled it well but I imagine takes flack over it.

Superb location next to the beach shops and restaurants. The hotel was a bit tired and dated but the room although creaky was clean and adequate. Breakfast was ok warm but considering it was included with the room price, good value. Parking was difficult to find however we found a space at the rear for £6 a day.

Great location. Very friendly staff. Easy to find the parkings around the back and it's free after 6:00 p.m. there is limited parking and possibly not the safest area. The breakfast was really nice if not a bit expensive at £10 per person. The first room I had was a double room. It was very comfortable. Very spacious, lovely, warm shower. On the second night I had a single room. This was the opposite. It was a very noisy room. The bed was uncomfortable. The shower extraction fan was very, very noisy in the shower. Cubicle itself was very small

I had read reviews so I knew it would be tired, and it was, but very comfortable and I was happy with my stay. The first night we had a 15 minute walk from the parking, but we managed to repark on day 2.

Enjoyed our weekend it was my friend’s birthday.disappointed the bar was closed at 10.30 on Saturday the 11 feb ,the bar man said he gets paid till 11 and shut the bar to cash up,he wouldn’t serve me a drink and charge my room either,was so looking forward a birthday cocktail

Managed to park directly in front of the hotel, with blue badge for disabled passenger, but not easy in June. No specific disabled parking spot near hotel. Very friendly staff; very clean and quiet.

Views from sea view room exceptional. Sea Beats restaurant next door so convenient. Friendly staff and clean rooms. The car park at rear of hotel which is two minutes walk away is an added bonus.

We had a Bay room overlooking the Esplanade. On our arrival the weather was wet with high winds and the window clearly leaked water, as there was a towel on the windowsill that was damp and stained from absorbing the incoming water. Not particularly concerned by the leak but the towel appeared to have been there for some time and clearly had not been replaced since the previous occupant had vacated the room. Despite the room being cleaned daily by the housemaid the towel was not changed during our 3 night stay. The bed was comfy, the room spacious and it was clean despite the stained towel. The rooms do not benefit from double glazing which might be something to do with it being a Grade 2 listed building so the front facing rooms will hear outside noise. The hotel is well positioned with easy access to the town and the esplanade. Breakfast is your bog standard English selection buffet breakfast and of the standard you would expect in a 3 star hotel.

We arrived early so stowed our bags around reception area. The receptionist was helpful with a dry sense of humour. When we returned there was a different receptionist on duty who was not as helpful or friendly but it didn’t spoil our first day in Weymouth. The Superior Room was spacious and on the whole, very clean. It had an en-suite with a separate toilet area. The window and blind looked like it hasn’t been cleaned for a while yet we were comfortable with the room. We had tea and coffee facilities with a coffee maker too. There was no phone in the room to contact reception but apart from requiring extra coffee pods we didn’t need anything else anyway. The breakfast was sufficient and the staff in the restaurant were very helpful indeed. The hotel itself is just a four minute walk from the train station and is perfectly placed on the promenade for nearby shops and restaurants should you require them. We will definitely be back as we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Weymouth and we would recommend this hotel too.

The room was absolutely appalling. Dust covered every surface, and it seemed like the floor hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner in ages. Trash and sand were scattered across the floor, with a snail shell adding to the unsightly mess. The state of the toilet was disgraceful, lacking even a fresh tissue roll or a replacement bin bag. Opening the closet revealed an overwhelming amount of dust, making it repulsive to store my clothes there. To make matters worse, the mugs and spoons had tea marks, while the drawers were filled with a combination of dust and trash. The windows were so smudged and filthy that any attempt to look outside was futile. Adding to our disappointment, the photos on the website were misleading and failed to accurately represent the abhorrent condition of the room we had booked. It was a shock to arrive and discover the true state of affairs. Unfortunately, we had no alternative but to stay in this dreadful room, as all nearby hotels were fully booked and we had travelled a long way from Oxford. With an event scheduled for the following day, returning home was not a viable option. We requested to speak to the manager, expressing our dissatisfaction with the room and insisting that it was completely unacceptable, especially considering the high price we had paid. However, instead of offering an apology or cleaning the room, the manager merely suggested that we leave the room and receive a refund.

This historic hotel is an amazing building in a prime location. But like most Victorian seaside hotels, it needs work inside to bring it back to its hey day. The hallways have peeling wallpaper and damp spots, and some floorboards are a bit spongey. But never the less, it's charming, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was a little disappointing, pretty standard fare, but the breakfast room itself was beautiful - overlooking the sea front. The staff were all charming and terribly helpful. We will be back!

The room was cramped, no resemblance of the online hotel picture of the room, broken bath panel, electric towel rail held on with tape & the electric overhead light shade had not been cleaned out for ages. Mentioned all the issues when checking out but no response or acknowledgement.

Nice friendly staff. Location very good right on the beach. Cleaning not so good. I found a big black long hair by the bedside table lamp. Found a hair by the taps in the shower. I found some old packing from a tooth brush behind the chest of drawers. I had a sea view room, I had a great view, there was plenty of heating through out the hotel. It's just 4 minuets walk from the train station. The bathroom needs updating, very slow water pressure was very slow and the bathroom very small. The sink was in the bedroom. The bed was comfy with nice clean fresh bedding.

I booked a twin room with sea view because no doubles were available. The beds weren’t fixed so we were able to push the beds together. The room was huge and the views are fantastic. Located right on the sea front, so handy for all amenities.

An old once classic Victorian hotel in superb location but alas now a sad faded relic of it's past. The sea view balcony room still evoke a scence of what it must have been like in it's hayday.
An old once classic Victorian hotel in superb location but alas now a sad faded relic of it's past. The sea view balcony room still evoke a scence of what it must have been like in it's hayday.

Superb location next to the beach shops and restaurants. The hotel was a bit tired and dated but the room although creaky was clean and adequate. Breakfast was ok warm but considering it was included with the room price, good value. Parking was difficult to find however we found a space at the rear for £6 a day.

We enjoyed our stay but we found our room cold as there was a major draft from the victorian window . Not sure if anything can be done about that . I was concerned that our room door did not shut properly . Just needs a minor adjustment and also the fire door on the top of the stairs did not shut fully. Just a couple of small things that need adressing . Other than that we had a brilliant stay . We love weymouth and often come for the day .lots to keep u busy in Weymouth but also surrounding area.lots to visit...... The hotel is lovely and we enjoyed it.Think the breakfast should include croissants and pastries .

Nice hotel. Stayed in a twin room with a sea view. The sea view was definitely worth it as it was a picturesque view from our room. Hotel is dated with wallpaper peeling in some places, but the room and bathroom were both clean. Staff were friendly. Only issue is that the hotel is lacking a storage room for bag drops. We were told to put our bags in the restaurant, which didn’t feel very safe. An allocated locked room would have felt more secure.

Stay was for in-laws, who have stayed here several times before, and this hotel is always their first choice. The rooms are lovely, the food is very good, and the staff are incredibly welcoming & helpful. Plus, you cannot beat the location!! I have no doubt they will be back again in the near future!!

We arrived early so stowed our bags around reception area. The receptionist was helpful with a dry sense of humour. When we returned there was a different receptionist on duty who was not as helpful or friendly but it didn’t spoil our first day in Weymouth. The Superior Room was spacious and on the whole, very clean. It had an en-suite with a separate toilet area. The window and blind looked like it hasn’t been cleaned for a while yet we were comfortable with the room. We had tea and coffee facilities with a coffee maker too. There was no phone in the room to contact reception but apart from requiring extra coffee pods we didn’t need anything else anyway. The breakfast was sufficient and the staff in the restaurant were very helpful indeed. The hotel itself is just a four minute walk from the train station and is perfectly placed on the promenade for nearby shops and restaurants should you require them. We will definitely be back as we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Weymouth and we would recommend this hotel too.

Room was comfortable, clean and warm. Issues with bathroom plumbing- I had to adjust ballcock to stop significant overspill from toilet tank, and toilet also blocked later in stay. Welcome at reception was not especially friendly. Overall, though, this was good value for money.

I liked the hotel generally and it was very convenient for town and beach. However, It was advertised as having a restaurant for evening meals which was one reason why I booked there, as, being an elderly lady, it is not so easy to enter a pub or restaurant alone. As a guest at the hotel, the restaurant therefore would have been the ideal option. Nothing was said about first come first served until I tried to book a table when my request was declined because there was a coach party staying. This was extremely disappointing, very annoying as I would have thought they could have fitted a single lady in somewhere and it put me off the hotel. I felt they didn't care at all. Also, the reception staff knew little about what was happening in the town, some of the reception staff had very strong foreign accents, difficult to decipher, and there was no information in the room with regard to sightseeing or events. The room was cramped, no resemblance of the online hotel picture of the room, broken bath panel, electric towel rail held on with tape & the electric overhead light shade had not been cleaned out for ages. Mentioned all the issues when checking out but no response or acknowledgement.

Views from sea view room exceptional. Sea Beats restaurant next door so convenient. Friendly staff and clean rooms. The car park at rear of hotel which is two minutes walk away is an added bonus.

Great location couple of minutes walk from the train station. Great breakfast - plenty of choice. Hotel has a lift which made getting around in the hotel much easier. Dog friendly hotel, mention to reception when booking if you want a room away from dogs. We had a superior room which had a great view and was a good size. Would we stay again - yes we would!

Best hotel in Weymouth. Overlooking the beach. Near the shops and restaurants. Quays a short pleasant walk away. Hotel very old but well presented for its age. I always stay here if i can, when visiting Weymouth. Reception staff are very welcoming and friendly. Always willing to help too.

All in all a pleasant stay in a well appointed hotel which clearly caters for the elderly very well. Close to the beach and to the transport hub and land train pick up and drop off points is a major benefit.

Selected this hotel as wanted to take my 82 year old mother to somewhere that had a restaurant so we could eat in if required, was shocked to find that even though we were residents that they could not serve us any evening meals in the restaurant as were fully booked with a resident coach party. This hotel should be advertised as a b&b as that is all it is and would have been cheaper to stay somewhere else with the same facilities offered. Breakfast was passable but not a great selection and buffet not replenished so had to ask for bowls, butter etc. Would not recommend or stay here again, booked an evening meal at the nearby Rex hotel which was excellent and the staff actually wanted to serve you.

We had a lovely stay at the royal hotel .Was nice and comfortable beautiful xmas decorations .Staff polite. We stayed before ,last year and was confused about how they did breakfasts and no evening meal this time .They do have offer of food in a different part of hotel my the bar .We do realise it is out of season but this was one of the reasons we were returning. Perhaps should be included in there review of hotel .but we did have a lovely time and will be back x

Pleasant one evening stopover in a single room with fabulous view over the bay. Clean comfy room. Only slight negative was the scrambled egg on the buffet breakfast. It was revolting.i assume it was powdered or something. Eughh!

Sea view room was good, we only booked room only but decided to have breakfast which was £10. When we sat down the lady came over and quite rudely pointed out that our breakfast wasn’t included and that we’d have to pay the reception the cost of the breakfast, which of course is standard when you check out. The way they made us feel was like we were going to do a bunk without paying. As for the breakfast it was by far the worst breakfast I’ve ever experienced.

This historic hotel is an amazing building in a prime location. But like most Victorian seaside hotels, it needs work inside to bring it back to its hey day. The hallways have peeling wallpaper and damp spots, and some floorboards are a bit spongey. But never the less, it's charming, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was a little disappointing, pretty standard fare, but the breakfast room itself was beautiful - overlooking the sea front. The staff were all charming and terribly helpful. We will be back!

Enjoyed our weekend it was my friend’s birthday.disappointed the bar was closed at 10.30 on Saturday the 11 feb ,the bar man said he gets paid till 11 and shut the bar to cash up,he wouldn’t serve me a drink and charge my room either,was so looking forward a birthday cocktail

Great location. Very friendly staff. Easy to find the parkings around the back and it's free after 6:00 p.m. there is limited parking and possibly not the safest area.
