Central location was good Parking was not easy

I had a wonderful experience considering there was a 3 day music festival right outside the Inn. I had a slight issue with parking and luggage but the whole experience had been wonderful. The Hotel Manager upgraded my room.

Stay was ok. Parking was only available for 12 or so cars so was full although I did arrive after 7pm and found a space about 8.30 when a couple of diners left. Food was good, but when I made a slight complaint about the toughness of the £35 rib eye I didn't receive much of an apology or offer to change. The icing on the cake was at breakfast. I chose not to pay in advance with the room just in case I had to leave early, however it stated on hotels.com breakfast was £15. The breakfast menu stated, guests staying with us get to choose the following breakfast choices, along with a choice of tea or coffee and a glass of apple or orange juice'. I was advised the evening before breakfast was £15 for guests. When I settled the room bill, I was charged £15, plus £3.50 for filter coffee and £3.00 for concentrated orange juice. I tried to politely argue that must be incorrect, but apparently no, breakfast was only inclusive of drinks if prepaid. I said this was not made clear and suggested it was taken off and he bill. It wasn't and I felt awkward and annoyed having to pay. The lady at breakfast would not budge on this..I tried to call during the day and received no reply at first. When I called at lunchtime to ask if this was correct I was promised a call back which was not received. Overall disappointing as the hotel had plenty of character and the evening stuff were friendly and had great beer. I just basically felt ripped off.

Hidden Gem. Nice old authentic pub annex inn. Courtyard beer garden and several bars in different levels in different styles. Really nice rooms and very pleasant staff. 10/10 recommandations

A great property with a great owner/manager. One of the best places we stayed at during a 15 night road trip. We also had the added bonus of arriving on Folly Festival day and enjoying the courtyard DJs. We had an excellent evening amongst the locals. Rather sadly though, the owner was let down by his young bar staff who couldn’t care less or find it in them to offer meaningful assistance when we arrived to find roads closed and no parking. Having seemingly been blamed for not knowing and been spoken to as though we knew the area, it was left to us to find somewhere before we paid to park and lugged our baggage across town in 30 degrees heat. The two barmaids do not seem to have accepted the validity of our disappointment because later that evening in the bar we were pointedly made to wait to be served as they continued their conversations and then when we were served we were overcharged. £5:50 for a pint is acceptable, but £7 for half pint of apple juice straight out the carton? Really? Feeling unwelcome we avoided the bar for the rest of the evening rather than expose ourselves to the rest of their repertoire.

We stayed two nights b&b in a dog friendly room. It was as we expected, an old coaching inn and busy bars. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good and the staff were attentive. Good value for money

It therefore meant we couldn’t drop our luggage off at the hotel/pub entrance or park the car, so we had to make do parking around 1/4 of a mile away. We were told the festival was due to finish at 6pm as we checked in at 6.20pm! However the party continued in the courtyard of the hotel until 12.30 in the evening. I did go down just before midnight to enquire what time the music would stop and was told 11pm. I asked if I could have a word with the manager but after 10 minutes the young man returned to tell me the music would stop in 5 minutes… I think the music festival is a great community activity but I just wish I’d been warned about it so that I had a choice about paying for a night of sleep deprivation! I’m still awaiting a satisfactory response from the manager about my feedback but I don’t feel confident …

Plenty of secure parking available, which was really convenient. I’ve eaten here before and the food is always amazing, though I didn’t dine in this time. My room was lovely and had a quaint charm, with what felt like centuries of history built into it. I was given an upgrade, which was very comfortable, but unfortunately it was right on the road and could be quite noisy. The bathroom was a little dated, but still functional. Overall, a characterful stay with great facilities—I’d happily return.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, nice hot shower, very clean room. Interesting very old building going back to 1629 so the building is crooked but that added to its vibe. Parking was a little bit tight.

The room was poor. Not well set up, uncomfortable bed, mould in shower, no glasses for water.. and other annoying things. Certainly would not recommend. The restaurant food was very good and the restaurant staff were very good - would recommend eating here.. just not sleeping here.

There was an unpleasant smell on the landing which led to the room. The room was small and very basic, the shower was lukewarm at best and produced a slow trickle of water It was not worth the amount of money we paid , maybe if the cost of the room was around £60 the standard and quality of the room may have been more acceptable

Great hotel. Historically quirky! Pristine bedding and towels. Need blackout curtains in bedroom. Would stay there again.

Was clean and tidy and in a good place to enjoy the town

A lovely place to stay and would highly recommend. Historic building, friendly helpful staff and great food. Housekeeping is excellent too. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. I stayed in Room 5 and my only complaint was it was a bit chilly at night, I had to sleep with a cardigan on! Also, if you are tall and/or elderly you might find sitting on the toilet challenging with it being so close to the shower door! There is no heating in the bathroom so might be chilly in the winter time. Single glazing due to it being a listed building. If you book meals ahead make sure you get a confirmation. I booked an evening meal for a Monday with friends, only to find on arrival, that there is no chef on Monday nights. This meant me changing plans at very short notice which caused disappointment.

Stayed in this lovely accommodation for a couple of nights with our 3 year old son. Our family room was spacious, clean, tidy and comfortable. Just a tiny issue with the size of our bed only because of my partner being 6'2", maybe it's just something that the inn can consider looking at. The area was really good in terms of shops if you need some basic supplies, café and some good options for food. Not too far to drive to other villages in Cotswolds and nearby areas. Our breakfast here at The Old Crown Coaching Inn was brilliant. We all enjoyed the quality of the food. The staff were lovely and friendly. Will definitely recommend this place..

We were unfortunate to arrive on the day of a music festival in the hotel’s central courtyard so no parking available for my disabled husband and deafening noise. The manager was helpful in offering us a quieter room although the noise still penetrated and the smell of bad drains in the bathroom was very unpleasant. The pub across the road was permanently closed and we couldn’t find anywhere nearby open for dinner so ended up with scones and cake (very good) from bakery. The following morning, coffee & granola in the small cafe/gift shop across the road was very good - but our stay in Faringdon was certainly not we had expected!

Breakfast was fabulous. Room needed updating and bed was very uncomfortable and very noisy when turning over. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here this weekend. We booked to stay in the Superior Double Room (also called the Junior Suite) and the hotel very kindly upgraded us to the Honeymoon Double Room (the Master Suite). This is a lovely spacious and tastefully decorated room with an excellent en-suite and a super comfortable bed. It is above the main public bar of the hotel but, unless you want to go to bed really early, this is not a problem, even on a busy Saturday, as it closes at 11pm and not much of the noise makes it up through the floor anyway. We certainly did not hear anything after that and enjoyed a perfect night's sleep. Breakfast is menu style rather than buffet and was delicious. All in all the hotel definitely exceeded our expectations. Thank you.

We enjoyed the evening meal. The staff were great. The room (room 1) was OK but it was at the front of the property and didn't have double glazing so we got a lot of noise from the market place and a busy bus stop right outside. The breakfast choice was disappointing - no cereals, fruit, yoghurt or croissants - the only choice was the hot, cooked option. Not enough parking. Couldn't get the TV in the room to show any terrestrial channels.

We booked a Standard Double Room and it was clear on investigation on our return home that we had been allocated an Economy Room, which was disappointing. The property and room were spotlessly clean. The view from the window was over a dirty back yard and it might be worth considering making the lower half of the window all opaque, as a couple of the panes already were. It would benefit from a comfortable seating area, as when the wine bar closed, mid afternoon, there was nowhere to sit other than the public bar. Breakfast was good, but no extras such as cereal, toast etc. It was a shame not to be able to sample the hotels other food as the reastaurant wasn't open. which was disappointing on a Bank Holiday weekend when all else in Faringdon was closed.

In-room drinks included bottled water, teas, and a coffee machine including pods. 5. The employees were friendly and helpful. 6. The location was perfect with amenities on the doorstep. 7. On-site parking great. 8. A lovely, old, characterful Inn, which I would highly recommend.

Real shame, the room was fantastic but the whole point of a room is to sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sleep before 12.30 due to the noise of the drinkers on a Tuesday night. No real pressure for them to be quiet despite me asking. Wasn’t asked how my stay was as I checked out to this review may be a surprise to them.

Nice location and atmosphere, nice room and good service. But the outside street was very noisy due to a buss stopp right outside the window, and no sound insulated glass. There could also have been more cover for light entering the room.

Superb stay. All staff were very welcoming and helped my elderly mum. Nothing was too much trouble. Very accommodating and the food was lovely. Will definitely stay there again.

When i got there early the manager was very good and gave me an upgrade room, which i was happy with. He aso sorted out a table in the restaurant for Sunday lunch early for me. So i was quite happy on first impressions. For over £100 per night i would have expected a larger bathroom i dont think they can call it a junior suite. The food was good. Breakfast is very important to me and i look forward to it when im in a hotel, unfortunately the was no choice of cold options like cereal, yogurt or fruit. There was a good choice of cooked food and the food was tasty. Unfortunately when i asked about cereal the waitress said there was some but i would have to pay extra, when i asked her about marmalade she said it was included and i only had to ask and she was a bit rude maybe it was because i had asked her to wipe down my table earlier as it had stains on. This unfortunately spoilt my stay a bit. The marmalade was on the table the next morning though. They did have the added bonus of Netflix so was able to watch a couple of films. So a very good start to my stay but went a bit downhill afterwards.

Stayed for a couple of nights to meet up with family. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Had an evening meal with the family and was blown away by the flavour and exceptional cooking techniques on display.....highly recommended so dont mias the opportunity to sample. The icing on the cake, showing excellence in customer service, was when I tried and failed to book a taxi, a member of staff gave a lift to my wife and I to our destination without blinking an eye...superb. Will definitely stay when I'm visiting the area in the future

We stayed one night with our little pooch, running late we rang ahead to see what time they finished food, it was after we would arrive but they put us up 2 roasts for when we arrived!! Great service, pleasant prices and one of THE best roast dinners I’ve had, and I’ve had a few! Goode wine selection and not overpriced, lovely friendly very helpful staff, nothing seemed too much trouble!! Will 100% stay again!

What a gem, a great one night stopover at a fantastic old coaching house in the Cotswolds. Great host and staff, fabulous food, special mention to the chef and a great wine list to compliment .

Great hotel with brilliant customer service. Needed an early check in due to attending wedding and the hotel were very understanding and supportive of this.

This is an ancient inn so won't be perfect but the pub and garden and bar are charming. My ensuite room was very comfortable with tea and coffee and nice soaps and linens. Inn is in the middle of Faringdon and a good place from which to explore.

Great place to stay. The accommodation is full of character, the staff are really friendly and welcoming, good food and the town is really nice. Excellent little coffe shop opposite. Give it a try.

The Breakfast was decent, but a bit overpriced. We had Fish and Chips on the Friday night, it was certainty grossly overpriced, and the Fish was disgusting. The batter was so thick, it was unbelievable. When I went to pay the bill, which was £40 for our 2 meals, the guy behind the Bar attempted to charge me a 10% Service Charge!! I didn't pay the Service Charge. The meal certainty wasn't worth the money. Hence I doubt very much that we will returning there.

excellent restuarant and food. Breakfast was excellent interms of quality and freshness of produce. e.g eggs free range with bright orange yolks, backon looked dry cured and no white foam, everything exceptionally done. Also dined for evening in Ballroom resturant we had Crispy belly pork and summer salad with flank steak, again exceptional.

Wanted to go to Diddly Squat so stay nearby at The Old Crown because it looked the best in the are without being in 'The Wolds' too much. From the outset everyone was helpful friendly and this never changed the whole visit. The room was fresh, clean and comfortable with a great TV and coffee/tea supplied. We didn't stay for dinner but wish we did, we had the BEST EVER full english breakfast in the morning in their beautifully decorated dining room where the friendly service continued. But the service didn't stop there. I left my prescription Ray Ban sunglasses in the room and the hotel sent them next day special delivery without expecting recompense. That is exactly what you want and need when touring around, great service even after you have left! Well done to all the staff and the management team for such high standards!

The hotel was lovely. Room very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful however we had as we thought booked for breakfast,this was shown on our confirmation from Hotels.com but discovered on check in that the kitchen closes from 3pm on a Sunday until a Wednesday so as our stay was during that time there were no meals available. The staff looked to see where was open on a Sunday for food , only a burger place a few miles away then we had to go in search of breakfast the next morning before our onward journey. The staff were apologetic but there wasn’t anything they could do. A shame because otherwise our stay would of been faultless as the hotel was ideal as a stop on our route
