I stayed two nights in the Kilmartin Hotel to walk the pre-historic sites in the area. Because I was on foot and there's not much else in town, I ended up eating 5 meals in a row at the hotel. Every one of them was good: two Scottish breakfasts, steak and ale pie, curry of the day, and smoked salmon salad. I loved this place and the people. The owner, Richard, is a truly good hard-working local guy and his staff are very friendly and attentive. In the bar at night, the locals are super nice and it's great not to be surrounded by other tourists. The hotel is 360 years old. If you're looking for modern and sparkling, this isn't your place, but if you're looking for warmth and authenticity, this is it. I was worried the noise from the bar might keep me up, but upstairs in my room I couldn't hear a thing and slept well in the comfy bed. I was on the 3rd floor (no lift) and up there were no showers (don't know about 2nd floor) but after a day of hiking in the mist a hot bath was just the ticket! The bus from Oban stops directly at the hotel. Highly recommend!

Food was good & offered great flexibility. However, this did not outweigh the shabbiness of the place. Entering through a very tired pub door, parking was not great & being on a main road, it was very noisy. No shower & wallpaper in bedroom looked like it was from 1960’s!

My room was nice and clean and there was a bar down stairs so one can have a beer and dinner as well. So all in all , after a long day on the road on my motorcycle it was a great place to stay

I loved this hotel! The rooms are huge and very quiet. There is a lively pub below that serves great food and has wonderful people in it. There is parking for guests or free parking accross the street. There are some cool Bronze Age cairns and stones that are within easy walking distance. The breakfast was fantastic as well. I recommend everyone stop here on their way to the highlands or to invarary castle especially if it’s a weekend. Well worth it! I will be back

We spent three weeks touring the UK, and never stayed in the same place twice. This was absolutely one of our favorite stays. Nice friendly pub, we had a delicious supper, and full English breakfast. This could easily be a destination stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Kilmartin Hotel. It is a charming older hotel with good food,delightful pub and totally outstanding service. Would gladly stay there again!

Chambres confortables dans un lieu hors du temps. Petit déjeuner complet. Repas d’un excellent rapport qualité prix pour l’Ecosse. Pub sympa ou touristes et locaux se retrouvent. Accueil chaleureux. La seule petite réserve concerne l’insonorisation des chambres.

Very friendly staff and great food and room was spotless with a comfy bed and and a powerfull shower Richard was flexible with breakfast time but as I've stayed before he makes sure if you are leaving before breakfast starts there is a really good packed lunch ready for you when you leave

Staff were very helpful and friendly I arrived late due to bad weather after kitchen closed but Tony did me a meal was very grateful for that The place itself However is very tired and run down quite scruffy really does definitely not warrant the room rate

Een hele leuke uitstraling die helaas niet meer als hotel van deze tijd is. Ondanks dat het bed perfect was en het sanitair schoon is de afwerking in de badkamer en slaapkamer onder peil. De hotelkamers en in mindere mate de overige ruimten van het hotel zijn aan een rigoureuze opknapbeurt toe. Als pub en ook eet gelegenheid is het erg gezellig met prima gastheren en -vrouwen, maar de accomodatie verdiend echt een grote facelift!

The location is stunning. The large size of our room was very good. However, although this is a very old property it is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment and update from the 1970's to modernise and refresh. Breakfast was ok but limited choice. We didn't eat an evening meal but our first impressions when walking into the small bar, we were pleased to be eating elsewhere that evening

This is a very old, quaint building in Kilmartin. The lady who runs it is very nice. The room was tiny - definitely very tight for two. I was solo, so it was fine. The bead was clean and comfy and that’s all I cared about that night. The bathroom is also very small but it all worked as needed. Kilmartin itself is amazing and worth a visit. So, this hotel suits the bill very nicely. Next time I would go down to the bar and hang out with the locals, Seemed like a very interesting bunch.

The hospitality, food and service were all excellent. The hotel desperately needs redecoration. The outside looks quite shabby. The All Seasons room which we stayed in was also in need of redecoration. There was no shower, just a bath and no way to wash your hair. The hot water was very slow to arrive. Even so we really enjoyed our stay and would happily go back. The staff were ultra efficient and very friendly.

This was just what we needed for our night in Kilmartin - good food, good ambiance, and directly across the street from the Kilmartin museum and an old church with medieval grave slabs. We stayed in the Winter Room - it might be helpful to know that this room has 2 bedrooms - one with two twin beds, and another room with a double and a single. The room was somewhat dated but was perfectly cozy and we enjoyed our stay.

The property is situated overlooking Kilmartin glen, which couldn’t be any better. Both the exterior and interior are in need of TLC ,but this can be forgiven by the warmth of the staff , and the good food that is available. I would certainly visit again.

Very friendly staff and great food and room was spotless with a comfy bed and and a powerfull shower Richard was flexible with breakfast time but as I've stayed before he makes sure if you are leaving before breakfast starts there is a really good packed lunch ready for you when you leave

This hotel does need some love and care. It is a quaint sweet little town with some incredible ancient history. I hope the hotel can continue to thrive with the new museum going in across the road. But it definitely needs updating and refurbishments. The staff is excellent and the food (both dinner and breakfast) were very good.

Staff were very helpful and friendly I arrived late due to bad weather after kitchen closed but Tony did me a meal was very grateful for that The place itself However is very tired and run down quite scruffy really does definitely not warrant the room rate

Great place in Kilmartin to stop for the night on your way to your next stop. Right by a free museum. Excellent food at the hotel, both breakfast and dinner. Staff is super friendly, showing the hospitality of the Scottish people.

We had a wonderful stay at Kilmartin Hotel. It is a charming older hotel with good food,delightful pub and totally outstanding service. Would gladly stay there again!

I stayed two nights in the Kilmartin Hotel to walk the pre-historic sites in the area. Because I was on foot and there's not much else in town, I ended up eating 5 meals in a row at the hotel. Every one of them was good: two Scottish breakfasts, steak and ale pie, curry of the day, and smoked salmon salad. I loved this place and the people. The owner, Richard, is a truly good hard-working local guy and his staff are very friendly and attentive. In the bar at night, the locals are super nice and it's great not to be surrounded by other tourists. The hotel is 360 years old. If you're looking for modern and sparkling, this isn't your place, but if you're looking for warmth and authenticity, this is it. I was worried the noise from the bar might keep me up, but upstairs in my room I couldn't hear a thing and slept well in the comfy bed. I was on the 3rd floor (no lift) and up there were no showers (don't know about 2nd floor) but after a day of hiking in the mist a hot bath was just the ticket! The Inn has been around for a couple hundred years, so it's bound to show a little wear, but the staff and food were excellent and the location fabulous, with a lot of Scottish history nearby.

Food was good & offered great flexibility. However, this did not outweigh the shabbiness of the place. Entering through a very tired pub door, parking was not great & being on a main road, it was very noisy. No shower & wallpaper in bedroom looked like it was from 1960’s!

I loved this hotel! The rooms are huge and very quiet. There is a lively pub below that serves great food and has wonderful people in it. There is parking for guests or free parking accross the street. There are some cool Bronze Age cairns and stones that are within easy walking distance. The breakfast was fantastic as well. I recommend everyone stop here on their way to the highlands or to invarary castle especially if it’s a weekend. Well worth it! I will be back

This was just what we needed for our night in Kilmartin - good food, good ambiance, and directly across the street from the Kilmartin museum and an old church with medieval grave slabs. We stayed in the Winter Room - it might be helpful to know that this room has 2 bedrooms - one with two twin beds, and another room with a double and a single. The room was somewhat dated but was perfectly cozy and we enjoyed our stay.
This was just what we needed for our night in Kilmartin - good food, good ambiance, and directly across the street from the Kilmartin museum and an old church with medieval grave slabs. The location is stunning. The large size of our room was very good. However, although this is a very old property it is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment and update from the 1970's to modernise and refresh. Breakfast was ok but limited choice. We didn't eat an evening meal but our first impressions when walking into the small bar, we were pleased to be eating elsewhere that evening

Everything was fine except the bed sides were too soft that you would be afraid of falling down when you are close to the sides. The breakfast was ok which served with a lot crispy toasts but the others was a bit oily.

Richard and the team were great. The food was excellent and the Scottish breakfast was fabulous. The room (All-seasons) is in desperate need of an over-haul. Struggled with the lock on the door at first but got the gist of it in the end. The bed was very comfortable and a good nights sleep was had.

Had dinner while staying and the macaroni cheese i got served was the best thing i came across in West of Scotland. Properly baked with a crispy top and really creamy inside easily one of the best I’ve had.

The property has a commanding view down the facing valley and is super conveniently placed on the main road. Walked into hotel (bar entrance) and straight into a busy bar area with people chatting, laughing, eating and clearly having a happy time. Room basic but clean, everything worked, super good night's sleep after a couple of pints of Jarl and a tasty hot salmon pasta. Breakfast generous and spot on. Very welcoming and friendly place!

Vill man se landsbygden är Kilmartin rätta stället. Hotellet ligger välkomnande vid infarten och man har en egen bakväg in på puben om man vill. Välkomnande personal som var väldigt hjälpsam. Frukosten var inkluderad och vi kunde beställa från en hel frukostmeny. Allt ifrån en enkel toast till en komplett skottsk frukost, och kocken lagade till på beställning. Puben var supermysig och ger en chans att prata med både personal och bybor. Badrummet var nyrenoverat, rummet rent och sängen bra.

As a bikepacker, I arrived at the Kilmartin hotel with my bike and bags after a long day riding off-road. The room was excellent. All the facilities I need. The staff was very kind and helpful. The local pub in this beautiful and ancient town was situated in the hotel itself. Perfect for having a well deserved pint! Restaurant was excellent! Same goes for breakfast in the morning.
