Our room was on the 3rd floor. NO ELEVATOR! Decent Pool and hot tub. Beach was small, but ok. Breakfast was good. Room was pretty clean.

BEACH SIDE VERY POOR MAINTAIN.ALSO THE POOL& JACKUZY WATER VERY DIRTY.

The room was big and beds were comfortable. The bathroom fan was loud, the A/C had a mildew odor from it (I understand being by water that it may hold humidity), the rug in the gym needs to be replaced, the washer/dryers were all out of order, and the breakfast was poor...with coffee creamers being bad. The price was good and located conveniently to the town. This place has potential and with some TLC it would be great. Overall, the place served the purpose, but would have liked to have better breakfast choices and a nicer gym. Also, the main building does not have an elevator, so if you cannot climb steps, you need to ask for a main floor or a place in the building with the breakfast room, as it has an elevator.

Pool was closed, but after asking they told us how to enjoy the indoor water park at a sister property. That facility was great but chlorine was a bit too strong.

The pool was green with a layer floating on top. The third day they finally posted closed for maintenance signs on the doors. The wifi worked just long enough to connect when we first got there, then we were never able to connect again. Overall the property is old and run down.

Pool and hot tub was very unclean.

Bed bugs!!!! Beware! My kids were bit by bed bugs while staying here. Absolutely disgusting. Hotel is not clean, everything is run down, old and disappointing. They should be ashamed of themselves! Pool was freezing, breakfast was bizarre, breakfast room upstairs covered in dust. The whole place looked like a haunted house. Cobwebs everywhere.

Room was sufficient and suited our needs. We were grateful for the two bathrooms. Hotel is convenient for the ferry. Continental breakfast left a lot to be desired. It consisted of boiled eggs, toast, pancakes and ham. My biggest issue was the parking. The lot is too small for the amount of rooms and it can be hard to maneuver a large vehicle. If you arrive back from a day out later in the evening it’s difficult to find a spot. I’m not sure if there was overflow across the street or if people were just using another lot.

The room worked pretty well for the 4 of us, but my son was looking forward to being able to soak in the hot tub after his football game and there was literally a hole in the ceiling with water leaking into the pool, and the hot tub was super murky.

I liked the area and that we had a lake view but the building needs a lot of maintenance our screen door the screen was pulled away from the frame the baseboards needed painting or washing the light in the bathroom was making noise every time it was on and there was laundry baskets outside everywhere with dirty laundry and the grounds and beach were littered with garbage nothing was done to clean up the beach each morning towels were left everywhere.

It's decent for the cost. The rooms really need a deep clean. The large trash cans in hallways, stairways, lower level outside by the elevator were always overflowing. We stayed for 3 days. Maybe they are short on workers.

I wonder how this hotel has got 3 star ratings when the building was way poor in cleaning and the whole room was totally smelly like a weed smell. There were cob webs and room was smelly at all time. There is no provision for setting the room temperature also. It’s totally not recommendable

I have stayed here in the past, about 12 years ago at this specific hotel. We come to the area every year and typically try a new hotel. The owner of the Clarion also owns most the other hotels in Mackinaw City, which shows as they are all run down. This hotel has not had a thing changed since the last time we stayed here. The building exterior was extremely dirty, a simple pressure was would do wonders. The room was disgusting, an inch off the wall all around the perimeter and furniture was a buildup of dust/dirt. The room had a very strong mildew/mold smell and the bathroom exhaust fan did not operate. The bathtub shower was so worn out that the bottom of the tub has cracks and moves as you stand on it, I'm certain its leaking and water is leaking out. It's overall just dated from the 90s, and has not been maintained well at all. Go stay in a mom and pop hotel in Mackinaw city or surronding area, i would avoid any of these hotels and restaurants owned by this family.

The room was not clean. Dirty Qtip under sink and filthy behind, bed by the wall. The walls were very thin, thus lots of noise. The showers were fine the first morning, but were cold the next. Lady at the desk upon checout was rude and acted as though i was making it up. Will not be back.

Bathroom had the fridge and microwave stuffed in a corner with wires awkwardly exposed. Bathroom fan fixture lights had no covers so you could see into the fixture. Same fixture fan didn't work. Air conditioner grille was pretty dirty as was the carpet. Staff was business like, but not exactly cordial. Breakfast was pretty mundane. Ice machine in the stairwell was growing algea.

Found room to be smelly, like urine, towels & bedding stained. Took pictures of everything it was so gross. Took a shower and air dried it was so bad. Killed three spiders. Dust and hair covered coffee pot. Pubic hairs in the tub and sink. Every pop machine at the facility was sold out or out of order, told to go to the gas station if we wanted something to drink. went to go check out 2 days early (wanted to go to another hotel) and was told we could not becasue we used a 3rd party servicer-Expedia- so we left anyway. Hotel would not check us out, would not give us a bill, would not give refund for the 2 unused days. Worst experience with a hotel to date. Both reception and magment said there was nothing they could do. So disappointed we left for home. Said they could put a note in the computer to send the checkout receipt.Clerk smiled and chuckled the whole time. Extremely rude. Brought her one of the towels to show her and didn't even look at it.

Overall, the place was fine. The carpets are disgusting though. Anyone can clearly see the floors all need a good scrubbing. Do not walk in the rooms barefoot!! Management needs to put in a cleaning order asap.

Not very clean. Hotel staff barely spoke English. Parking is terrible.

I have mixed feelings about our stay at the Clarion after my family stayed there for 6 nights, but the fact is, there aren't a lot of great options in Mackinaw City. You're going to overpay no matter where you stay. We booked a two-bedroom deluxe suite with a lakefront balcony. It’s a bizarre layout. In hindsight, we should have just booked 2 smaller rooms to have 2 bathrooms for the same price. My biggest gripe: this was advertised as "soundproofed rooms" but we heard **everything and everyone** outside our door. Kids stomping/yelling/screaming, doors slamming shut, luggage slamming on the stairs because there was no elevator, and even conversations in a low tone within a few doors. When we first arrived, our assigned room had 0 bedside tables or accessible power outlets in the front bedroom, where my wife and I were supposed to sleep. I require a breathing machine (CPAP) to sleep, so that was going to be a hard pass. The front desk staff were very confused by why this was a problem, but eventually moved us to the floor above us to a room that would work. File this under weird: the coffee makers in this hotel live on the bathroom counter, a few feet away from the toilet. Do with that what you will. Light switches control wall outlets here, and some idiot had plugged in the refrigerator and microwave power strip to the switch-controlled outlet, so we had water everywhere to start. There weren't enough plugs for the TV, cable box, and lamp in the front room, so choose 2.

WiFi didn’t work. Terrible parking and not very clean

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel was not clean and the beach/outdoor area was not well maintained. The WiFi never worked and the room was dirty. We had to have the linens changed because they looked they hadn’t been before we got there. The breakfast was ok but didn’t have a good selection and only one person trying to keep up with refilling the stations. The location was super convenient for the ferry and my kids loved being on the beach.

We had a beautiful room with a great balcony facing Lake Huron. We got to see fireworks Saturday night from our balcony. The only thing that was disappointing was their free continental breakfast. It was not fit to eat!

You could view the lake from the hotel which was very nice but the floor needed vacuumed and there were a couple different things not working upon arrival.

The pool was cold however the hot tub was hot. The rooms are clean but starting to show age. Beach was nice. They have chairs and fire pits. Breakfast was good with a hot selection and cold

The room itself with 2 bedrooms was great, it’s starting to show a little wear and tear, needs updating. Breakfast, not so good. Cereal container not working, couldn’t get cereal out. Get a waffle machine in there, sausage or bacon would be nice.great room Pool area needed help.

We booked a last minute room here for one night and it was excellent for our needs. Very nice staff, convenient location. Would stay here again.

The hotel from the outside is perfect! The room and cleanliness was decent due to the room is dated as well as some parts of the wallpaper was peeling off. The customer service was unacceptable because the front desk employee practically did not know anything. We asked about the free breakfast that was advertised and immediately answered that there is no breakfast then he said he text messaged the manager regarding it. We later got the response from the manager sending us to another hotel for their free breakfast. We were disappointed on how the front desk employee responded with us due to he seemed like he did not know how to answer several of our questions and always answering with a state of confusion.

The room was great, roomy and clean. The breakfast was not that great and the breakfast attendant would rather be on her phone than tending to her job. We constantly ran out of things, like coffee & eggs and it would be 10 minutes or more before they were refilled.

Arrive to check-in at 3:15. Was told that my room would be ready in about 30 minutes. Okay no problem- i knew i was early. I came back in 30 minutes (at 3:45, which is only 15 minutes prior to check in time) and the front desk employee began to get extremely rude with me, telling me that my room might not be ready at 4, and i may have to wait even later, when I asked questions about What time the room would be ready? He got increasingly rude and told me that I would need to come back and it may not be ready at 4. It was so disarming it felt like they didn't even have the room I reserved. when I came back at 4, the same rude employee had keys waiting for me. I asked the employee what time breakfast was and instead of simply answering me, he rudely stated i could read the information on the keys. So I i went to my room, and lo and behold, there were two people ALREADY IN THE ROOM ! They were fortunately very kind, but expressed that their room was extremely dirty at check in and the employee had also been super rude to them when they had checked in. When i went back to the front desk, the employee again was very rude and refused to apologize /offer anything to make up for the fact he had sent me into someone else room. I asked for him to write down a request for management to call me. He ignored my request and refused to write down for his manager to call me. I got new keys and went to the room, which yes, was filthy and had dirt/black/mold marks all over the walls

We traveled with our family ( two young adults ) ,had a two bedroom suite #334 We loved the location ferry to the island was only 3 minutes walk! The hotel price was very reasonable for three nights! Loved the beach front it was very convenient to chill on the beach after a long day ! But this hotel definitely need some updates !! Room was not clean , smelled bad and had a mold in the bathroom!!! But reading all the other reviews we didn’t have a high expectation!! Did not used any house cleaning or breakfasts!! Again we just stayed in to shower and sleep!! Before you book this hotel you should know what you will get for the price!! Overall it was an ok place to stay but definitely I would not book this Clarion hotel again!!! Front desk guy was extremely helpful and super friendly by check is !!!!

I asked the staff for a printed receipt at the end of my stay . They said No ! I was told I booked with Expedia so I couldn't have a printed receipt with them . The room was clean , but they are very old they could use a update on everything.

Booked 2 beachfront rooms. On arrival we were told we did not and we could have a 2 regular rooms. We were locked in and could not get a refund. The desk attendant was abrupt and not friendly. No screen door on the balcony. Shower head had hard water crust and mold. Faucet was changed and you could see stains where the old one was. Holes in wall from old towel rack. Air conditioner was loud and very dirty. AC in adjoining room didn't work. Hole in ceiling above shower in both rooms. Old, faded, worn and dirty carpet in both rooms. Bathroom floors, taps, shower head, bathtub, sink had mold. Mold on wall handle in shower. Safety latch on door was installed wrong and was useless. Closet was dirty and had mold. Toilet bowl had gouges in the bowl. Bathroom door handle had rubber encrusted on it from deteriorating stopper behind the door. Pool had murky, bad smelling water. We were given these rooms after we complained that the rooms we were initially given smelled like sewage and mold.

The staff was the best. I highly recommend staying and will again if I ever have the chance.

The staff was incredibly rude. I made last minute reservations for my 85 yr old mom n i for the following day. I awoke with the most horrendous migraine, we couldnt go. That evening when i felt a bit better i contacted hotel.com they were amazing and tried to help me. I knew it was a long shot to transfer reservation to next day but i tried. Hotel.com was willing. Clarion staff was just incredibly rude. No reason. Simply state you cant. Dont be rude or snide. And manager Ashley, take your own calls.

This hotel is older, but it is well maintained and clean. The one suggestion I would make is to let people know when you check in that house keeping has to be requested.

Our room made up for everything else! We had a lakefront room and the sunrise was way worth the price. Breakfast was a bonus, right next to Arnold ferry, and close to the shops!

Great location. Easy access to freeway and also short drive to the heart of Mackinaw City. Also very close walking distance to Mackinac Island Ferry Dock #1.

Loved the location. Right next to Star ferry and my kids loved watching the ferries come and go. Not too loud for bedtime. Facility is out of date, which could be viewed as charming. No real issues, could be leaner outside of the room. Rooms were sufficiently clean. Breakfast options were good. Walkable to downtown, though a bike would make getting to the heart faster for those not apt to a mile or so one way.

Great location. On beach, and close to downtown strip and ferries to Island!

The staff was friendly. We arrived around 11pm and when I checked in I was greeted by two clerks. They both said welcome at the same time. The property is on the water there are noticable upkeep issues that comes with this environment. We had a balcony room and loved it. We slept with the sliding door open to enjoy the sound of the water. The breakfast was thankfully more than a grab and go like most places are these days. We have two teenagers and they said they would like to stay again.

Breakfast could have been better, Coffee was a no go no flavored creamer, pillows were small. Otherwise, everything else was good.

Great view of beach. Breakfast was very basic, not great, and only served till 9:00. Vacationers enjoy sleeping a little later. 10:00 would be better.

We stayed for 4 days and our room was never cleaned. I'm sure this is part of being "eco-friendly". Two small garbage cans (in bathroom next to toilet and under the sink) are not enough for 4 days. We had to request fresh bath towels and toilet paper on the 3rd day and had to go to the office to get the items requested. The breakfast consisted of pancakes and ham for hot options. then rolls and cereal. It was the same every morning. The mattresses are FIRM. I had a backache from them. I don't much like Firm, I prefer a mattress that softer. I was diagnosed with cancer 6 month ago, so I am trying to plan trips with my family to make memories. I love Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island and enjoyed both. The hotel, not as much. There could be some improvements.

The breakfast room had no heat, all breakfast items on one single row towards the wall at the entrance of the room. This caused long lines. Warm items got quickly cold by the time we settled on the table due to un-heated rooms and warmers were not efficient. Quite disappointing

Hotel is in grwat location, easily walkable to most of the downtown area. Breakfast is lacking, so you may want to nake other plans

The property has a lovely beachfront located conveniently next to the island ferry service. It is walking distance to the downtown shops. The room was good-sized though the overall appearance was dated. Arrive early to breakfast as it is meager for those who come within the last hour.
