This is an old hotel in a gritty area of Tonalá. It is well run and the staff are great. There is some secure parking at no charge. The rooms are a little tired, thin sheets in ours. The bed was good. Certainly acceptable for a short stay. It’s close to the shopping streets and Centro. Really nice garden seating areas for coffee or a night cap.

El lugar está increíble!!! Me gustó mucho tiene un toque muy especial. Su estacionamiento es muy limitado por lo que tuve que dejar mi auto fuera. Y ojalá que muy pronto puedan tener servicio de alimentos, sería agradable desayunar ahí!

Buscamos un lugar para pasar una noche de camino y estuvo bien para ese fin, pero los colchones están bastante viejos y se sienten los resortes además de que rechinan. Una de las habitaciones que nos asignaron solo tiene cortinas para tapar el excusado y la regadera, literalmente no hay pared entre el baño y la habitación. El estacionamiento es muy limitado (me parece que es para 2 autos únicamente) por lo que tuvimos que dejar el auto en la calle. Los puntos a favor son que la decoración es linda, un estilo colonial y la atención de la recepcionista fue muy buena.

Charming place, with a quaint courtyard, was the perfect location for the Tianguis. This hotel doesn’t have any amenities so it was just a place to shower and sleep. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful. I will definitely stay again.

Cobran comisión si pagas con tarjeta. Solo hay 4 espacios de estacionamiento, si lo necesitas, apartarlo. Los colchones no son cómodos. Las cortinas no cubren las ventanas, a penas amanece, el cuarto está totalmente iluminado. El hotel es bonito en sus patios

Nice boutique hotel, with pleasant garden area. Staff is very nice. My only significant complaint is the hotel parking. They list free parking, but in reality they only have a garage with space for one or two cars. We ended up parking on the street.

Staff is incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. Location is also fantastic for shopping in Tonala. We did have a small problem with some mosquitos in the room, possibly due to a few windows overlooking the bar that could not seal tightly

Muchas arañas y moscos en la habitación, dije bueno tiene mucha vegetación a lado debe ser normal, compré un raid casa y jardín y le pongo un poco, uta se alboroto todo el cochinero, salieron unas cucarachas enormes, lo reporte a recepción y me dijeron si es normal????? Whaaaatttt ?? Normal??? En su casa seguramente!

Mi reciente experiencia en esta boutique fue sumamente satisfactoria. El personal, demostró una cordialidad excepcional durante toda mi estancia. Durante mi estadía de 11 noches, la ubicación resultó ser muy conveniente, y la limpieza del hotel impecable. Por lo anterior, asigno una calificación de 5 estrellas. El café matutino fue de mi agrado, y las habitaciones se mantuvieron en óptimas condiciones. En mi próxima visita a Guadalajara, consideraré nuevamente hospedarme en este establecimiento. Altamente recomendable.

The bathroom is terrible and a death trap. Average size room, very dark, unable to open the window because lack of screen and a multitude of mosquitos in the area. A glass shower stall in a corner just 3 feet from one of the beds forcing one of us (sisters) to leave the room so the one taking a shower could have some privacy. The toilet is located on a lower level. To access the toilet one must go down three very steep, very dark narrow steps with nothing to hold on. Once in the toilet area about three feet wide by five feet long (estimated, not measured) I was not able to put on contacts or even makeup because lack of light. The only light was a very low voltage single light above the tiny sink. The room also had a staled smell, almost moldy. With no car and not knowing the town our only consolation was that it was a one night stay. Service was excellent! Very friendly and accommodating. Will never go back even if some of the rooms are better, none of them have screens on the windows. Elisa plascencia

Jamás volvería a ese hotel… El concepto es muy bueno pero muchos detalles a los que deberían poner atención pero lo peor fue que no pudimos descansar por la música tan fuerte de algún antro cercano y que las conversaciones desde la recepción se escucharon todo el tiempo… además había una fuga de agua en el lavabo y muchos otros detalles que me hacen entender porque el precio es tan bajo… de todos modos el edificio es una belleza

As other reviews have said, the staff is wonderful and the restaurant across the street is very good. I visited in late June and it was very quiet. I stayed longer in Tonala in part because I enjoyed the hospitality at the hotel. Thank you. I’ll be back. If you’re going to use the buses when you’re in town, download Moovit app, it’s very good. And whatsapp is commonly used.

Staff is incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. Location is also fantastic for shopping in Tonala. We did have a small problem with some mosquitos in the room, possibly due to a few windows overlooking the bar that could not seal tightly

This is an old hotel in a gritty area of Tonalá. It is well run and the staff are great. There is some secure parking at no charge. The rooms are a little tired, thin sheets in ours. The bed was good. Certainly acceptable for a short stay. It’s close to the shopping streets and Centro. Really nice garden seating areas for coffee or a night cap.

Great quiet location. Friendly helpful staff and economical. The room was smaller than expected, but having the balcony doors open made a difference. A good choice for a two night stay.

Charming place, with a quaint courtyard, was the perfect location for the Tianguis. This hotel doesn’t have any amenities so it was just a place to shower and sleep. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful. I will definitely stay again.

Mi reciente experiencia en esta boutique fue sumamente satisfactoria. El personal, demostró una cordialidad excepcional durante toda mi estancia. Durante mi estadía de 11 noches, la ubicación resultó ser muy conveniente, y la limpieza del hotel impecable. Por lo anterior, asigno una calificación de 5 estrellas. El café matutino fue de mi agrado, y las habitaciones se mantuvieron en óptimas condiciones. En mi próxima visita a Guadalajara, consideraré nuevamente hospedarme en este establecimiento. Altamente recomendable.

El lugar está increíble!!! Me gustó mucho tiene un toque muy especial. Su estacionamiento es muy limitado por lo que tuve que dejar mi auto fuera. Y ojalá que muy pronto puedan tener servicio de alimentos, sería agradable desayunar ahí!

Very nice and comfortable small hotel. Very friendly and caring staff . Clean, hot/cold water, tea, coffee provided. All necessary amenities in room. Three blocks away from Main Street but safe walking. Many restaurants to choose. Will recommend this hotel to stay.

I lived in Mexico in the 70’s and have stayed in dozens of Mexican hotels . The Santo Santiago rates among the best ever . The hotel was a “Casona” , grand old house , and has been meticulously restored as a 20 room hotel. The staff is beyond friendly and the hotel is spotless. If you are a 5 star hotel type of person , this hotel is probably not for you . But if you want a5 star experience and truly want to experience genuine Mexican hospitality , book this hotel ASAP

A wonderful stay at Santo Santiago Hotel. I met Brenda and Maria Luz, who were sensational managers at this beautiful Santo Santiago boutique hotel. They were welcoming, attentive, and they went above and beyond to assist me in my stay. The breakfast was lovely, and I used their spa services with Karla, who was adorable and excellent at her skill.
