We had an amazing stay right on the water . Rooms are basic but bathrooms renovated . The balcony with water views and the grotto dining area are an extra bonus . Quaint hotel wrapped in history with modernity blended in . Breakfast was good albeit limited . Coffee was 👍👍👍. Great bar and sitting area .

Fantastiskt läge precis vid Luganosjön. Fint trädäck där man kunde sola och bada och man fick låna badlakan av hotellet. Vid badet fanns en bra dusch. God middag på kvällen till ok pris. Frukosten var tråkig och spartansk. Rummet var tråkigt men ok sängar och det var bra städat. Trevlig personal.

Having stayed here some years ago we were a bit dissapointed. We stayed in a standard room for this one night stay, it was basic with few furnishings but it did have a lovely balcony. And the terrace overlooking the lake was wonderful, a great place to sit with a drink. As it was the end of the season dinner was served indoors. Service was good but too busy for the staff. Food too was only ok. Car parking under cover was chargable and car charging payable to.

Wonderful and charming hotel by the lake, with an amazing history. Our room had a private balcony with a view to the lake and courtyard. Breathtaking! Service was excellent. Breakfast was simple but good, but if you want a real cappuccino, you have to pay and order at the bar, which we didn’t mind. Otherwise you have the automatic machine next to the breakfast buffet which we didn’t like. There’s parking on the premises, however, be advised that it’s €15 per day. Worth it. The hotel is in Valsolda, a short drive from Lugano. Would definitely stay at Stella D’ Italia again.

Hotel op leuke locatie, rustig aan het meer en niet hypertoeristisch, parkeergarage aangeraden want zeer weinig parkeergelegenheid in de omgeving van het hotel. Kamers aan renovatie toe. Wij hadden een vroeg vertrek gepland, en hadden hiervoor een ontbijtpakket aangevraagd. Echter kregen we enkel een zakje met warme yoghurt, wat crackers en yoghurt mee terwijl bij overhandiging de verse croissants ons toelachten, en de nachtreceptie zelf een koek at en geen woord Engels verstond. Geen aanrader qua service wel qua ligging/locatie

Lovely comfortable room in old world charm for family of four but no air conditioning. Our own minifan worked well. Views from room of Lake Lugano were outstanding and sunset was magnificent. Their lakeside Italian restaurant and free breakfast was outstanding. Wish we could have stayed longer. Parked our car in their garage. Loved swimming off their private dock and lounging under the trees.

Very nice hotel on the water. It is old but we enjoyed our stay very much. The area is very quiet and tranquil and the hotel gardens are beautiful and right on the water. Only negative was some of the furnishings are quite old.

We stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed the location and hotel. The views from the room are absolutely stunning. The food for dinner was good, we didn’t like the menu and they made us something custom. A few things they could improve on - a smaller room key, coffee in the room, and a refrigerator in the room. The grounds are so pretty! Loved the pizza at the bar across the street.

Set right on Lake Lugano, with amazing views of Lake Lugano. The rooms were nice with a balcony and the bathrooms were very nice. The staff was super friendly and professional. We had dinner both nights in the restaurant and the food was amazing.

Having stayed here some years ago we were a bit dissapointed. We stayed in a standard room for this one night stay, it was basic with few furnishings but it did have a lovely balcony. And the terrace overlooking the lake was wonderful, a great place to sit with a drink. As it was the end of the season dinner was served indoors. Service was good but too busy for the staff. Food too was only ok. Car parking under cover was chargable and car charging payable to.

Wonderful and charming hotel by the lake, with an amazing history. Our room had a private balcony with a view to the lake and courtyard. Breathtaking! Service was excellent. Breakfast was simple but good, but if you want a real cappuccino, you have to pay and order at the bar, which we didn’t mind. Otherwise you have the automatic machine next to the breakfast buffet which we didn’t like. There’s parking on the premises, however, be advised that it’s €15 per day. Worth it. The hotel is in Valsolda, a short drive from Lugano. Would definitely stay at Stella D’ Italia again.

The food for dinner was good, we didn’t like the menu and they made us something custom. A few things they could improve on - a smaller room key, coffee in the room, and a refrigerator in the room. The grounds are so pretty! Loved the pizza at the bar across the street.

Fantastiskt läge precis vid Luganosjön. Fint trädäck där man kunde sola och bada och man fick låna badlakan av hotellet. Vid badet fanns en bra dusch. God middag på kvällen till ok pris. Frukosten var tråkig och spartansk. Rummet var tråkigt men ok sängar och det var bra städat. Trevlig personal.

Well, what can I say!! The last time I visited, I was 15 years old back in 1989 with family. I returned with much anticipation worried that I may not have as wonderful time as I remember all those years ago but Stella did not fail to disappoint. After the hustle and bustle of Lake Como, Stella d’Italia on the absolutely stunning Lake Lugano was like a breath of fresh air. Gorgeous sleepy little village of San Mamete is nestled up within the glorious back drop of the mountains and Stella is perched right in front of the lake.
