Great location to see the Cotswolds tho parking could be difficult at busy times. Comfortable rooms tho size of ours was compromised by huge dimensions of bathroom - would prefer more space in the bedroom itself with perhaps a table and/or sofa. A few breakages in bathroom that really should have been fixed beforehand. Food was really delicious with generous portions. Service was excellent. Was put off tho by the cleaners who were sitting on the landing browsing through their phones so we had to step around them to get to our room on day of arrival! They really should be either working or have a designated area where they can take a break.

Staff: World class service. From entering the reception to leaving out the door, everyone was incredibly polite and helpful. Impressive effort and attention to detail to make sure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. Room: Very well decorated, great bathroom, powerful shower and nice soap. The bed was huge and also very comfortable. I was also impressed at the homemade shortbread and lovely coffee from the Nespresso machine. However the only negative is that there was no desk (only a chair and seating on the window sill) - but this may have been due to the lack of space in the room. Food: On the first night I had the pie of the day (chicken, ham hock and leek) in the restaurant which was absolutely incredible - However next time I would order extra gravy and a side of broccoli. I also had the homemade scotch egg which again was lovely. Night two I ordered room service for the prawn cocktail, which was good, and the burger being incredible - Although I had just been on a long run and was famished! Reception/Inn: Unfortunately they were re-decorating part of the bar area so was limited on space, but the restaurant was at normal operation. The parts that were open were all nicely decorated and felt homely - although the couch seat, as comfortable as it was, felt a little too low for eating. Overall a wonderful stay and I will certainly be returning when I am in the area next.

Perhaps my expectations are unreasonable, but when I asked if there was an elevator to the room, the person that checked us in explained that in hotel as old as the Wheatsheaf, that was not possible. Ok then, I wrongly assumed that someone younger than us (I’m 68 and my husband is 73) would give us a hand with our bags. We’re both in very good shape and quite capable, but just out of a sense of good hospitality, that would be offered. It was entirely up to us to get our bags to the last room on the 2nd floor. We tried breakfast the next morning as the dinner the night before was ok. I asked for soft boiled eggs and while not on the menu, I didn’t think I’d have to be worried about what I’d get. They brought out 2 super hot unpeeled eggs and the eggs were completely hard and cooked through when I athe the And the server never came back to see if everything was ok. The bed was comfortable enough, the room was supposed to be rustically quaint, and the plumbing was modern. However, the shower stall was so small and the shower head so large that there was no where to stay out of the spray to lather up. There was a very deep claw footed bath tub with a handheld sprayer, but no way to really keep the spray from straying outside of the tub when you washed your hair. And the tub was so deep, it was difficult to get into and out of. We felt so unwelcome in the Wheatsheaf, that we left a day early. I definitely did not find it romantic, charming or welcoming.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Wheatsheaf !!! The hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was so comfortable. The staff were so lovely and the food was absolutely delicious! The stunning garden was peaceful and enjoyable as was the cosy snug after a long day !! Highly recommend a stay here !

Can’t say enough about this place! Posh English Inn with dog friendly pub with many of the locals coming in to dine. Food was excellent for foodies, easily managed food allergies in group, and very courteous. Want a true English experience stay here! The town was lovely, steeped in history and great to walk around for some exercise.

Relaxing afternoon in the beer garden followed by a lovely meal in the evening. Room was small but very comfortable. Nice to see it was dog friendly. We will bring our dog if we ever stay again.

Hotel in general had a cosy feel about it and the staff were delightful. We didn't like the new extension (looked cheap) and spoilt the overall ambience. We initially checked into room 10 which was dark and cold and adjacent to a staff thoroughfare and kitchen. We were moved to room 7 which was far better but unfortunately, the bathroom had a nasty odour from the drains. Also, the bathroom door handle was faulty and my husband got locked in there temporarily. We reported this to the manager and she said she would look into it.

Lovely Friendly staff. Accommodating with room change. Good very good and nice size portions. Gluten free fish and chips was amazing. Only minor downs, No gluten free biscuit in room as promised. No exchange of gluten free bread with starter (wasn’t hungry enough to ask, I’m sure they would have brought if asked) Bathroom, walls looked very wet and paint peeling off.

I can confidently say it was an absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a seamless check-in process. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was immaculate—spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I was also impressed with the cleanliness and attention to detail in every aspect of the room. The food was absolutely delicious and we would definitely return.

Lovely inn and restaurant with cosy seats and nice selection of drinks. The food was absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. The braised beef was fenomenal. The reason for my lower ratings on the accommodation is that the room was absolutely freezing when we arrived. The staff didn’t think to check when outside was -3C. The bathroom also had no heating so we couldn’t even shower till next day in the morning because it was too cold. Also the heating was stopped during the night so again we woke up in cold. The room whilst decent enough was way too expensive for what was on offer. We were hoping to get the superior room with bathtub as advertised in pictures instead we go a very small room with only shower for the same price. It’s misleading. I would definitely come again for dinner but not to stay. The staff were nice and friendly.

Everything was amazing. The room was outstanding, beautiful, comfortable, spacious with great attention to detail. The bath was the focal point of the room and I didn’t want to get out of it. Even provided locally sourced luxury toiletries, perfect for a relaxing bath. The rest of the hotel had a cozy atmosphere with lovely decor. Staff were friendly with a relaxed yet still professional service. Just what we love, a quality establishment but without any pretentiousness! The food was another story altogether, well presented, generous and generally yummy. Breakfast was the same, lovely food and a great selection on the buffet table. Would definitely stay again if visiting this area

Alarm kept going off intermittently for over 10 hours therefor we couldn’t sleep and had to leave! Windows not able to open, but even if I could there was kitchen fan’s making an awful racket outside. I would like to add that it wasn’t the managers fault but not a good experience.

We returned to The Wheatsheaf for a night stay for my birthday after 8 years. The food and service is still very good and we have fond memories of coming here. However, we were put into room 2 which is the top of the stairs, right next to the store cupboard and were constantly disturbed with stomping and loud noise from staff getting stock. This was especially noisy in the morning when we’re trying to sleep. We returned to The Wheatsheaf for a night stay for my birthday after 8 years. The food and service is still very good and we have fond memories of coming here. However, we were put into room 2 which is the top of the stairs, right next to the store cupboard and were constantly disturbed with stomping and loud noise from staff getting stock. This was especially noisy in the morning when we’re trying to sleep. Staff: World class service. From entering the reception to leaving out the door, everyone was incredibly polite and helpful. Impressive effort and attention to detail to make sure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. Room: Very well decorated, great bathroom, powerful shower and nice soap. The bed was huge and also very comfortable. I was also impressed at the homemade shortbread and lovely coffee from the Nespresso machine. However the only negative is that there was no desk (only a chair and seating on the window sill) - but this may have been due to the lack of space in the room. Food: On the first night I had the pie of the day (chicken, ham hock and leek) in the restaurant which was absolutely incredible - However next time I would order extra gravy and a side of broccoli. I also had the homemade scotch egg which again was lovely. Night two I ordered room service for the prawn cocktail, which was good, and the burger being incredible - Although I had just been on a long run and was famished! Reception/Inn: Unfortunately they were re-decorating part of the bar area so was limited on space, but the restaurant was at normal operation. The parts that were open were all nicely decorated and felt homely - although the couch seat, as comfortable as it was, felt a little too low for eating. Overall a wonderful stay and I will certainly be returning when I am in the area next.

Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Bedroom and bed were very nice, however the bathroom was very small, if your a big guy you would fine it a squeeze. I highly recommend the Wheatsheaf Inn, it's location is perfect for visiting , Broadway, Stow-on-the Wold and Burton-on the water if you have a car.

Everything was amazing. The room was outstanding, beautiful, comfortable, spacious with great attention to detail. The bath was the focal point of the room and I didn’t want to get out of it. Even provided locally sourced luxury toiletries, perfect for a relaxing bath. The rest of the hotel had a cozy atmosphere with lovely decor. Staff were friendly with a relaxed yet still professional service. Just what we love, a quality establishment but without any pretentiousness! The food was another story altogether, well presented, generous and generally yummy. Breakfast was the same, lovely food and a great selection on the buffet table. Would definitely stay again if visiting this area

Had a few small issues regarding payment for our rooms but this was sorted at check out. This is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are beautiful and very well equipped with everything you would want. The staff are great. Harriet looked after us very well as did Dale. We stay in the Cotswolds quite a bit but have never stayed here before. We will definitely be staying again. In the restaurant we ordered a roast and it was extremely good. It was also a very generous plate of food. Breakfast was also superb. We highly recommend the Wheatsheaf.

Perhaps my expectations are unreasonable, but when I asked if there was an elevator to the room, the person that checked us in explained that in hotel as old as the Wheatsheaf, that was not possible. Ok then, I wrongly assumed that someone younger than us (I’m 68 and my husband is 73) would give us a hand with our bags. We’re both in very good shape and quite capable, but just out of a sense of good hospitality, that would be offered. It was entirely up to us to get our bags to the last room on the 2nd floor. We tried breakfast the next morning as the dinner the night before was ok. I asked for soft boiled eggs and while not on the menu, I didn’t think I’d have to be worried about what I’d get. They brought out 2 super hot unpeeled eggs and the eggs were completely hard and cooked through when I athe the And the server never came back to see if everything was ok. The bed was comfortable enough, the room was supposed to be rustically quaint, and the plumbing was modern. However, the shower stall was so small and the shower head so large that there was no where to stay out of the spray to lather up. There was a very deep claw footed bath tub with a handheld sprayer, but no way to really keep the spray from straying outside of the tub when you washed your hair. And the tub was so deep, it was difficult to get into and out of. We felt so unwelcome in the Wheatsheaf, that we left a day early. I definitely did not find it romantic, charming or welcoming.

Boutique room was fantastic, but the service in the restaurant really let this place down. Booked a table outside, was told to find the outside waiter and was stood waiting for 10 minutes with no sight of anyone other than others dining. When someone finally arrived I was told there was no space outside, despite booking a table an hour earlier. Thankfully the waiter managed to squeeze us in at the back of the outside dining area, but then proceeded to forget drinks/sides that we had ordered and left us waiting for our deserts for an hour in a then empty restaurant. After an hour we were then told that they didnt have what we ordered, so we ordered an alternative and waited a further 20 minutes for luke-warm deserts to arrive, one of which (crumble) was inedible. Severely overcooked and resembled concrete rather than crumble. At a cost of over £100 for a meal for two with a couple of drinks each it left a lot to be desired and I certainly wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Had a lovely stay at the Wheatsheaf for my partners birthday. The food in the resultant was delicious and really enjoyed the breakfast set up too. The room was perfect, huge comfy bed! Location was perfect for a weekend of exploring the Cotswolds, would definitely recommend.

Beautiful property with super cozy rooms and restaurant area. Adriana was very helpful and friendly, welcoming us and providing all the necessary assistance with crib and checking into our room. Location is perfect as it’s very close to several other villages and towns. Walking distance to a convenient store and a coffee shop. We very much enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant two nights in a row. The meals were delicious, we tried the chicken supreme, beef liver and pork belly.

Can’t say enough about this place! Posh English Inn with dog friendly pub with many of the locals coming in to dine. Food was excellent for foodies, easily managed food allergies in group, and very courteous. Want a true English experience stay here! The town was lovely, steeped in history and great to walk around for some exercise.

The Wheatsheaf was an incredible experience! Our room was luxurious, from the king bed, quality linens, and the bath products. The food and bar service was also top notch. We particularly loved the chicken pie!

Perhaps my expectations are unreasonable, but when I asked if there was an elevator to the room, the person that checked us in explained that in hotel as old as the Wheatsheaf, that was not possible. Ok then, I wrongly assumed that someone younger than us (I’m 68 and my husband is 73) would give us a hand with our bags. We’re both in very good shape and quite capable, but just out of a sense of good hospitality, that would be offered. It was entirely up to us to get our bags to the last room on the 2nd floor. We tried breakfast the next morning as the dinner the night before was ok. I asked for soft boiled eggs and while not on the menu, I didn’t think I’d have to be worried about what I’d get. They brought out 2 super hot unpeeled eggs and the eggs were completely hard and cooked through when I athe the And the server never came back to see if everything was ok. The bed was comfortable enough, the room was supposed to be rustically quaint, and the plumbing was modern. However, the shower stall was so small and the shower head so large that there was no where to stay out of the spray to lather up. There was a very deep claw footed bath tub with a handheld sprayer, but no way to really keep the spray from straying outside of the tub when you washed your hair. And the tub was so deep, it was difficult to get into and out of. We felt so unwelcome in the Wheatsheaf, that we left a day early. I definitely did not find it romantic, charming or welcoming.

I can confidently say it was an absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a seamless check-in process. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was immaculate—spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. I was also impressed with the cleanliness and attention to detail in every aspect of the room. The food was absolutely delicious and we would definitely return.

We really loved the room, the bed was super comfortable and the bath was great at the end of a busy day sightseeing, it’s location was not what I expected however it was a very quaint little village. We were disappointed that we were advised on checking in that dinner was not available due to staff shortages, we had selected this hotel based on reviews for the restaurant however we had a great meal and fantastic service at the pub down the road. On arriving back at the hotel there were a couple of people dining and didn’t appear to be busy.

Boutique room was fantastic, but the service in the restaurant really let this place down. Booked a table outside, was told to find the outside waiter and was stood waiting for 10 minutes with no sight of anyone other than others dining. When someone finally arrived I was told there was no space outside, despite booking a table an hour earlier. Thankfully the waiter managed to squeeze us in at the back of the outside dining area, but then proceeded to forget drinks/sides that we had ordered and left us waiting for our deserts for an hour in a then empty restaurant. After an hour we were then told that they didnt have what we ordered, so we ordered an alternative and waited a further 20 minutes for luke-warm deserts to arrive, one of which (crumble) was inedible. Severely overcooked and resembled concrete rather than crumble. At a cost of over £100 for a meal for two with a couple of drinks each it left a lot to be desired and I certainly wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Pros: food (evening meal and breakfast) was great and highlight of stay and restaurant team were excellent. Room decoration was gorgeous. Bed was inviting and the room had all the amenities needed including a fan for warm weather. Great garden set up and enough parking. Cons: rude bar staff. Ignored at the bar towards the end of the evening despite 3 bar staff behind the counter and then had eye roll when we ordered a final drink. Within ten minutes we were told to “drink faster and get out”. Hotel room smelt damp/musty, shower was a hand held over the bath, bed base was much bigger than the mattress so stuck out by almost a foot on one side, and the bed kept sliding across the room when you sat on it. Some elements of the room were tired - bath taps and broken blinds.

Room (number 1)was beautiful with lots of extra touches. Period Cotswolds style.Bathroom gorgeous with free standing bath in centre and modern large shower. Comfortable bed and quiet. It was a very hot day (28degrees) and there was a freestanding fan on when we arrived which kept us cool all night. We arrived early for a wedding and they turned the room around for us to change. Delightful staff delicious breakfast and lunch. Would stay here again.
