While the room was clean and the registration clerk was friendly, the property is on the shabby side. It was a very bare bones experience. Water pressure was a trickle. Fine for a quick stop for budget travelers. We appreciated the free parking!

Great place to stay. Chinese restaurant in the same building. Some parking out back. We were just passing through. Many restaurants and shopping mall just down the street.

Great location, 15 min walk from Cambridge central station and Addenbrookes Hospital with numerous buses in between. Doesn't do breakfast but there are places nearby. Would be an improvement if a light snack box was available. A Chinese restaurant is open on site for lunch and dinner. Staff were lovely and so helpful and informative. Hotel price was very reasonable, limited hours reception with other hrs phone contact details provided.

I wanted a low cost bed for the night within easy walking distance of the city centre and that what I got. Nothing fancy but I didnt pay fancy money. An option for breakfast would have been good.

The good points - parking, lovely welcome at reception and the hotel was clean. Bad points - badly patched up hole in the ceiling of my room, some damp and peeling wallpaper in a top corner and very few tv channels available.

Receptionist was helpful and swopped our room for a groundfloor accessible room. Room was a bit dated, but clean and tidy. There is an onsite Chinese restaurant, we had prebooked elsewhere, but it looked (& smelt) good. Very handy for Addenbrookes & good parking.

Positives - a welcoming reception, comfortable bed, parking, everywhere spotless, decent kettle and good shower. Negatives - the small tv only receives a few channels - very few. It still seems tuned in to Freeview as it was when it first came out. The system probably just needs retuning. And there was a bit of rust on a grab rail in the shower. I reckon that these are tiny negatives and on balance I feel the hotel was good value.

Lovely welcome. Efficient check in. The room was immaculate and looked newly refurbished. Quiet. Very comfortable bed. And with the benefit of delicious food in the Chinese restaurant below, with excellent staff. Thank you! Near Addenbrookes hospital and also near city centre, on a good bus route for both. Parking at the rear.

Quite smelly, generally unclean with mouldy bathroom. Didn’t want to touch anything and couldn’t wait to get out. Very strong smell of food too. Not for me and I won’t be starting ever again. Only plus is the free parking.

We were given a handicap room not what we asked for. The shower was open to the rest of the bathroom & the drain was slow so water came far into the bathroom. We took the comforter out of the closet to use and you could tell it had not been cleaned in a long time. Big black mark on it. The curtain under the drapes had a big hole in the middle of it. Would not recommend this hotel.

On arriving it didn’t look inviting and I was a bit disappointed, but my room was bright clean and very nice and quiet, staff were very helpful to my needs, would stay again.

Location good. My room downstairs 216 terrible. Very dirty with sellotape holding lampshade and basin shelf together. Smells of oil and filters so blocked with dirt. Linen and towels v clean. Bed comfortable. TV dreadful.

The staff very lovely. The hotel was clean and quiet despite being near the road. The hotel needs general updating. It was nice to have a garden area but we could not sit out there as there were nettles and the chairs needed cleaning. It would be good to have a breakfast option. The restaurant that was advertised nearby was a bit disappointing if you are looking for a full English type breakfast but got free hot drinks if you mention the hotel! The hotel is generally fine if you are only there for a day or two. The lovely staff make the hotel.

I thought the room was in poor condition. The bathroom in particular was disappointing and many floor tiles were cracked and loose. The room carpet doesn’t quite meet the carpet runner at the bathroom door so the spikes of the runner aren’t fully covered - I found that out the hard way. While the restaurant is open, the room smells of oil which gave a bad first impression that is impossible to get past and has contributed to my overall negative opinion. The curtains in the room do give privacy but don’t block out light in the slightest. To be fair the bed was comfortable and it didn’t feel unclean. And the room was spacious. But I wished I’d booked somewhere else and even paused for a few minutes upon arrival to consider whether I could afford to write off the booking and find somewhere else (I couldn’t and didn’t). I thought this place was quite expensive for what it was offering. Perhaps other rooms in the hotel aren’t quite as disappointing so don’t just rely on this review, please do check out the others.

Room was cold on arrival, turned the radiator to maximum but only heated up to a tepid temperature over night, resulting in feeling very cold getting out of the shower the next morning. The fan in the ‘bathroom’ was very noisy. The curtains were difficult to close providing no or very little privacy while getting undressed. I guess for the price you shouldn’t expect too much.

My scores are because are room was very cold had no heating on we nearly moved hotel but was told heating went on twice a day in the morning and evening it did get better and resided to stay. Room was small and needs a upgrade but the bathroom was very nice sorry did not take photos.

Because it's an older building there is no lift. That did not lessen my pleasure during the stay. Staff were courteous and welcoming. The room was clean and quiet. The water pressure was a little low, but I still had a good shower. Overall an enjoyable experience.

The hotel is in the same location as a Chinese restaurant. Every part of the hotel smelt as if it was in the restaurant, it was unbearable. The shower leaked out of the bathroom onto the carpet, meaning the bedroom carpet was wet when we arrived. We managed to guard against this while taking a shower but the whole bathroom and room felt damp. Decor is dated but not in itself an issue, that’s just visuals. Easy to walk into Cambridge centre, 30 mins down a straight road, and plenty of small supermarkets in the near for snacks etc,. I’d say this place is good as a last resort.

Cons: This is a shabby old hotel. Holes in the walls, rips in the wallpaper. It's clean. They say they will provide housekeeping every three days, but I had to ask on day 4, and all they did was provide new towels and empty the trash. They did not clean the toilet or sink or provide new bed sheets or vacuum. There is rarely someone working at the front desk, so I found it impossible to get them to address this issue. Pros: It's clean, at least, and the staff are friendly - when you can find them. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station, and about 20 minutes by bus to the center of town.

This was a good comfortable hotel. However service was below average. I stayed for 3 nights. No service of room after first night. The next day I specifically rang the hotel during the day twice but got no reply. I left a message specifically asking for the room to be serviced. Still no service the next day. I also requested some ice to take to the room for a drink. None available the first night. Small cup the next night. Smaller cup the next night and then no more when I asked. Considering there is a restaurant on site, seems odd.

Stay was ok. Would have liked some water in the room or even vending machine downstairs. Kind of hands off reception/service. Close proximity to the hospital which is good. And helped in late check out today. That's it really

We made a late self check in but it was so easy. The directions for self check in were so clear , no difficulties. Very responsive and helpful! There were kind to save our luggages after checking out until we leave the town. It was a nice stay.

I was looking for a place, close to the train station - without paying premium prices, for a short one night stay...and I told the young lady as I was leaving, that I would definitely stay there again one day soon...as it fitted the bill, in terms of expectations against price. In an incredibly expensive city, it gives great value for money - and the service of the staff, including Laksh(?) in the evening who ordered a taxi and knocked my door when it arrived, shows great customer service, regardless of price paid. Thank you.

Convenient location to walk into Cambridge with car parking facilities. The lights in the bathroom didn’t work and because there was no window it was very dark making it difficult to use the facilities. The bed was hard, the room was cold with no heating that worked, and the condition of the room was poor. There was no one on reception until 11:00 and we had to check out by 10:00.

Cons: This is a shabby old hotel. Holes in the walls, rips in the wallpaper. It's clean. They say they will provide housekeeping every three days, but I had to ask on day 4, and all they did was provide new towels and empty the trash. They did not clean the toilet or sink or provide new bed sheets or vacuum. There is rarely someone working at the front desk, so I found it impossible to get them to address this issue. Pros: It's clean, at least, and the staff are friendly - when you can find them. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station, and about 20 minutes by bus to the center of town.

Great location, 15 min walk from Cambridge central station and Addenbrookes Hospital with numerous buses in between. Doesn't do breakfast but there are places nearby. Would be an improvement if a light snack box was available. A Chinese restaurant is open on site for lunch and dinner. Staff were lovely and so helpful and informative. Hotel price was very reasonable, limited hours reception with other hrs phone contact details provided.

Room was small but perfectly adaquate. Bed was clean and comfortable. Ensuite was compact but clean and well cared for. Usual facilities in room. Free wifi. Would have been nice to have a box of tissues. One of the bedside lights didnt work but had been replaced by a lamp. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Good location. Half hour walk to centre. Parking available.

The staff very lovely. The hotel was clean and quiet despite being near the road. The hotel needs general updating. It was nice to have a garden area but we could not sit out there as there were nettles and the chairs needed cleaning. It would be good to have a breakfast option. The restaurant that was advertised nearby was a bit disappointing if you are looking for a full English type breakfast but got free hot drinks if you mention the hotel! The hotel is generally fine if you are only there for a day or two. The lovely staff make the hotel.

Fantastic welcome and comfortable room. An ideal stopover for enjoying a gig at Cambridge junction (2 minute walk away). The food in the restaurant downstairs was delicious and service great too. Tip - swipe the room keycards really fast or they don’t work. Lovely wooden staircases (lots of them).

I wanted a low cost bed for the night within easy walking distance of the city centre and that what I got. Nothing fancy but I didnt pay fancy money. An option for breakfast would have been good.

The facilities are a bit dated - as is to be expected - but everything was very clean and attractive. The restaurant downstairs was really good for dinner; they offer breakfast for an additional fee but I didn't try it. Checkout time is a little earlier than I would like - 10 am - but that was really the biggest negative of the stay. Staff was very quick to accommodate any special requests.

This was a good comfortable hotel. However service was below average. I stayed for 3 nights. No service of room after first night. The next day I specifically rang the hotel during the day twice but got no reply. I left a message specifically asking for the room to be serviced. Still no service the next day. I also requested some ice to take to the room for a drink. None available the first night. Small cup the next night. Smaller cup the next night and then no more when I asked. Considering there is a restaurant on site, seems odd.
