Motel 6-Tampa, FL - Fairgrounds

Stayed there for a couple of days. The staff was OK and helped to solve some problems. But through the stay, there was almost non Wifi available. The cleanness was not very good.

Date of March 7th 2025. Expedia had different pictures of room on web page. The room had no dressers, no chair, no closet, ice machine was broke, old urine stains on bed spreads and sheets were dingy. The hall smelled like smoke and urine. I told the lady at front desk and she had no comment. Room was in a back lot building. My two grandkids and I left the same night. We had to go to another hotel.

Not particularly clean, and they had IT issues. I was there on business, and unloading/loading was smooth. However, I did not have internet service in my room. They said it was in the process of being resolved, but it was very inconvenient. Also, my key card didn't work on the first try, and they had to fix it at the front desk. This happened with multiple other guests too because everyone was complaining at the front counter.

TV didn’t have all the channels advertised, TV signal weak and glitchy, sound would go in and out. Couldn’t connect to WiFi. Safe covered with rust, broken floor boards.

There was a puppy mill in one of the rooms. There was only one ice maker available on the entire property...several buildings away. There were unsupervised teens doing drugs at night outside the buidlings..The place was filthy..the maitenance staff was VERY busy watching TV in the lobby when the buildings, if you slammed the front door hard enough the entire building would collapse in a dramatic cloud of dust....A liberal application of dynamite would be a vast improvement...then you could sell the property and make an honest buck...It wasone of the worst experiernces I have ever had and I have been traveling for about 40 years....

After getting there, I can tell Corporate doesn’t Control this property and just let them use the name. Got to my room, TV didn’t work. Tried to log in to use the Wi-Fi, that didn’t work also. Everyday I had to go to the front counter for them to turn my key card back on which was annoying. I left a day earlier then I was supposed to, at this point. I don’t care about wasting money for a unused day. On the plus side. I didn’t see any bugs.

This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I've ever had. We reserved two rooms in a back building that resembled a neglected military barrack—far removed from anything shown in the online photos. The pool was crowded with non-guests blasting loud music, and the parking lot felt unsafe, with homeless individuals lingering nearby. Both rooms were filthy: the beds were heavily stained and rock-hard, and the only furniture consisted of a battered round table and two mismatched chairs that looked like they’d been salvaged from a school dumpster. One toilet was missing its tank lid and sprayed water when flushed. A sliding glass door in one room wouldn't close properly, compromising both safety and privacy. We were so uncomfortable and appalled that we left immediately to book another hotel. When we requested a refund, we were directed to email the manager. Her response? No refund, claiming the rooms had been "used"—despite our clear explanation that we hadn’t stayed due to the conditions. We then reached out to the corporate office but received no support. Even direct outreach to corporate leadership was met with silence. ⚠️ Believe the negative reviews. Any positive feedback must be from staff or from guests with extremely low expectations. This property is a total misrepresentation—and a serious safety concern.

This property is located in a high crime area. I had my rental car's registration tag stolen while it was parked. There was a domestic assault incident down the hall from my room. I called the cops! The police did NOT intervene! The motel has no internal security guards. It is NOT a safe place to stay.

No ice machine inside. WiFi and cable doesn’t work well. Other than that it is a place to lay your head for a short trip.

They put me in a separate building from the main hotel part, when I got up into the hallway, it smelled. I get in the room. The Safe is broken and not working, the door is nasty and looks like it’s gonna fall apart, the toilet wouldn’t flush properly, when you turn the water on it came out brown at first. You took the covers off the bed and there was dark black stains all over it for the sheets. The window wasn’t shut and would not lock on the second floor. The TV wouldn’t turn on didn’t work at all. There was people running up and down the hallway off and on all night, and then a couple was loud fighting in the hallway. Called the front desk to let them know and no one picked up the phone.The room was nasty looking and I had to pay 80 some dollars for this. No I’m not happy. I had talked to Customer Service this morning at hotels.com to see if they can get me a refund but that hotel would not pick up. When I mentioned it to the front desk when I got to where I checked out in the morning, she said oh I’m just so sorry there’s not much I can do about that but I’ll make sure they go and fix it like she dismissed completely. Not happy with my stay and I am not happy with the fact that I had to pay for that and I want a refund. It’s going on Google review that it was horrible.

The room was dirty, hair stuck in the towels and on bed sheets. Toilet did not flush and no toilet paper was provided.

Room in disrepair, paint peeled off in several places, floor molding not attached for a long stretch. Hairs in the sink, hotel hallway smelled like marijuana, bugs, stained sheets. I checked out early because I couldn’t tolerate the conditions. I reported the conditions to the front desk and contacted hotels.com. The front desk could not be reached by phone. The reservation line did not reflect my early checkout. The customer service of the hotel generated a complaint to reflect early departure for refund of remaining days. My review has been rejected three times in 24 hours and I suspect it may have been because it included information that I wish hotel.com did more to help me. If it is rejected again, this will confirm my thoughts…my review did not have the common reasons (personal information, profanity, rate or room # information). If it is rejected again, please tell me why.

I would give negative stars if I could. I wasn’t expecting much from a motel 6, especially for the price. BUT…the exceeded my expectations of nothing. Check in was at 3pm. I arrived at 5pm. Room#1 - looked like some one started to clean it but never finished. Room#2 was trashed still. Asked for my money back and was told the do. It so that for the first nights stay they have to accommodate me. Room#3. Looked better. We were running late for our event so we dropped and left. When we got back I pulled the blankets down to lay down and the bed was filthy. Like actually dirt from the yard. And a clean sheet was places to make it look better. I crawled in bed with my daughter - her sheets has foot prints on them. When we first arrived at the room for the evening we could not figure out the tv- well it was unplugged. Plugged it in and on it went. The volume was set to decimal a million. We could not change the volume or the channel and quickly understood why the tv was unplugged. Everything v probably was about 45 mins before we just decided we were going to drive home or sleep in the car at midnight. When I gave the girl my room key, she asked why I was checking out- she knew. And then explained the room 3 was not much better just better at hiding the mess. She told me to have a good night and we left. I’m pretty sure most of the people on property leave there. That did not bother me but people act different in a motel/hotel than home so it was more like a dorm feel.

The motel is nasty and smelly. The rooms are unclean with severe dirty linen on the bed with brown and black spots. The motel is a scam on all fronts with staff at front desk untruthful about phone not working when Expedia was calling regarding my cancellation. I watched the phone line light up until I made the staff pick up the phone and it was Expedia. Need not be on Expedia for hotel stay.

The halls smell, roaches in the rooms, got to leave on lights so the roaches don't move in to your personal belongings. The only thing good about this place is the staff. The mattress has a huge dip in it, my husband had to get 2 of our couch throw pillows to fill in the dip so he can sleep comfortably. Room 206 has a hole in the window that was never fixed. The poor housekeeping is short staffed. There is a lot of things that is wrong with this motel.

Not clean at all Roaches everywhere

Roof had mold shower was rusting apart no clean towels dirty towels, bed sheets had stains no trash bins

They want a 100.00 Cash deposit after you already booked on hotel.com the place is in very poor condition. Hallways are extremely dirty. The rooms are not much better than the hallway.

This place sucked so bad that I checked out early! Where do I even start??? Let’s see…..There was mold in the bathroom, no blankets, what looked like a poop stain on the door, a large gap in the entry door, the beds were hard as a rock, trash on the ground outside, the secure door to the 2nd floor didn’t shut all the way so any random person could just walk in off the street, shady characters hanging around outside and in stairwells, and the parking was terrible. This place was ok pre-covid, but it shouldn’t even be operating anymore in its current state!

Not to thrilled with this one. Dining table installed at an angle that wont even keep a drink upright, bed was basically a matress with a two person sized hole in the middle. Doubt if i would ever choose this location again. Its convenient to the major roads in Brandon Fl, but thats really all it has going for it....

Room was clean, the hallway not so much. Bed was hard, but comfortable.

Staff members great, location is convenient and the rooms are spacious.

It had a comfortable bed and the air conditioning worked well. I slept and left happy!

Had issue with billing. They charged me on my credit card before arrival. The later in the late evening they came to knock my door to check my reservation claiming I having paid. The place is a little run down questionable cleanliness. The floor is sticky. And smell of weeds outside. But the bed is comfortable and fairly quiet.

Positives first. The air in room was cold and the water was hot. Room was quiet. Negatives The girl at desk was more interested in her cell phone than checking guests in. Maybe she was working on her phone but I feel that guests need to be properly addressed upon arrival and at least told she would get with us shortly. There was a duct taped hole in our room’s window. Maybe that’s how the cockroach that I killed got in. Curtain was partially hanging and there was sticky goo on floor. Tub stopper was missing and shower didn’t drain properly. Walls had splatters. Walls are textured so maybe they’re just hard to clean. Smelled weed the entire stay. I think it got in our AC unit somehow and scented our room the whole time. If you like weed this is the place for you! We DO NOT like it. There is no coffee maker, no hair dryer and no iron. VERY basic. You do have a bed with rattling plastic wrapped mattress, a shower, a toilet and tv. I have this hotel booked for another trip in May. DEFINITELY canceling. I hope this honest review will address some areas that need improvement and help other guests who are considering this hotel.

Entryway light in the room didn’t work. It was very dark checking in the first night. Only one bath towel it the room.

Very noisy area. People were up and out smoking all night long. Garbage piled up a bit by the pails. Virtually a bare room.

Super noisy, barely any privacy. Critters in the bathroom.

The room itself was clean, and the television and air conditioning were in good working order. However, I cannot recommend this establishment for a stay, as it appears that many guests are long-term residents who treat the property accordingly. The environment was highly disruptive, with excessive noise from hallway conversations, dogs barking in the early hours of the morning (3-5 AM), and individuals wandering the hallways in a manner that suggested erratic or concerning behavior, as if under the influence of substances such as meth. Additionally, I encountered a disturbing incident where a person was rummaging through the trash near my room. The noise from guests idling their cars and the constant street traffic further contributed to an unpleasant atmosphere. While the accommodations may suffice in a pinch, I would strongly advise seeking alternative lodging for a more comfortable and peaceful experience.

Check in until getting to the room was very warm that was $100 deposit and was not disposed. It was a dirty room. They had to come and change the sheets clean out the refrigerator. The room does not look like the pictures the hallway smells moldy, free, hot free Wi-Fi means you use your personal hotspot. The front desk clerk kept referring to me as ma’am instead of sir. Only reason I continue to stay was cause every hotel was booked because of the fair.

Friendly staff

Well the guy at the check in was rude. We ask for towels about 5 times. Never got them. The channel buttons on the remote did not work. Talk yo the guy at the counter 5 times. He kept saying he was coming when someone came in. We never saw him again. The second day i went down 3 times about the remote. We stayed the entire time with no tv. I actually went to the movies while the kids where at the alan jackson concert. Because i didnt wanna sit in the hotel room with nothing to do.

They REQUIRE $100 CASH deposit at checkin. When checking out I asked if anyone forgot their deposit and she said “sometimes”. I believe they require it in cash so that when someone forgets it, they pocket the money. If it were on a credit card, the traveler could block it.

Staff did not return deposit.

This property is Convenient to Day & night time Vibes outings. The staff is very helpful & willing to go beyond & over for your needs. Communication is key

I called earlier in the day yesterday to let them know we were arriving late past midnight to check in after a long 10 hour drive, when we arrived nobody was there and even called the number they had displayed and they made us wait all the way till 7 in the morning. With no compensation or anything off the room price. Then forgot we had late checkout and room service came 30 minutes early as if we didn’t even have a late checkout. Terrible service and no communication or help

The credit card machine was down for the deposit. I had to pay the deposit in cash. Had to wait for somebody to come to check out because nobody was there called the phone 10 times. Staff did not show up till 6 AM to check me out.

I enjoyed staying at this property. I haven’t stayed here since July 2024. What brought me back to this same hotel was the budget friendly cost and excellent customer service. Property was clean, staff was nice, and there’s a myriad of dining options nearby. You can’t find no better property to stay. I definitely will be returning back to this property for my future stay.

Convenient to fairgrounds

I enjoyed staying at this Motel 6 location for my one-night reservation. The staff as very accomodating. The cleaning crew worked hard to maintain cleanliness on the property. I liked how Motel 6 Tampa-Fairgrounds was in close proximity to shopping and dining. I look forward to reserving my next stay with this property.

It was a good stay, close to hard rock casino where we were going. Felt safe.

When we first checked into our room, we found it to be relatively clean but in need of work. Bathtub for showers only since I wouldn’t sit in it for a bath. Refrigerator heavily used but worked. Microwave shelf pulling from wall and metal stand with a safe was rusty. Bed was ok and sheets were clean. Sliding glass door had a brace for safety which was hanging on with a screw but did its job. The pool was clean and seamed a perfect place for my grandson to cool off after his soccer game. As for feeling safe…. Well, we left for supper and there were three police vehicles in the parking lot. When we returned they were still there and appeared to be dealing with some issues. As the wife of a retired state trooper, we did end up staying since we were there already and it was for just one night. It appears this Motel 6 has numerous families living in these rooms full time. It also appears that this brings along some activity which might require the police presence for domestic disturbances…. The noise increases the later it becomes, though with the tv on we were able to sleep pretty well. I was however awakened by loud noise in the morning, lots of yelling and kids running around in room above and hallways outside our room. I would recommend that if this Motel 6 offers rooms for long term stays, that they are in the 2nd building and keep the front building for travelers. One positive point, the staff checking us in and helping with some morning coffee were pleasant and helpful!

It's convenient location, quietness & Most importantly, It's affordable!!

It kept us safe during hurricane Milton. Not a luxurious place, but it suited our needs. Being pet friendly was a big plus. The staff was excellent and the location was convenient and close to restaurants and other important needs. The room was clean and quiet.

There was one person to check in a long line of people, it took about 40 minutes in line to check in. We were given a room without a fridge. After standing in line AGAIN, we were moved to another room that had a fridge, but the freezer needed to be defrosted so badly that it was impossible to fit anything in it. There was no coffee in the lobby, as advertised. When we pointed to the large sign advertising morning coffee, we were just told "no more". There was one towel in the room - we were given another towel upon request at the desk (nobody ever answered the phone), and were told that the new policy is one towel per room, no matter how many guests. The clincher was the cockroach we saw in the morning while packing to check out.

IT was a good value for the money plenty of places to eat and to shop.

It was no food option and the bed comfort it was not comfortable at all it was hard sockets burnt with appliances still plugged in which was dangerous dirty couch dirty floor
