Our rooms were very clean, the service by the staff was excellent - personal phone call before our stay to see if we had any questions, and texts before and after we got there to make sure everything was okay. We needed an extra blanket and they were there within two minutes! We liked the location right across from the lake and the walking/biking path. Great perks of the available bikes and fire pit/corn hole in the yard! We will definitely stay there again.

Nice clean comfortable room, and all we needed for an overnight stay on our motorcycle tour around Lake Superior. Definitely a no-frills motel, but was fine for what we needed. Laundry area was a plus. Had no contact with staff as everything was done via e-mail or text. Glad that there was no issues or concerns with the room or reservation as no one to talk to.

This refurbed property is a great place to stay. The decor and room facilities were perfect. Comfy beds. The Balcony with view of the lake was a lovely place to relax. There was space on site to BBQ or have a fire pit.

Loved that we could bring our dog on our adventure without worries. Use common sense, if your dog isn’t good alone/around strangers and other pets don’t bring them! Affordable, clean, friendly neighbors, and good accommodations. Recommend requesting 1st floor room for seniors and/or handicapped. Highly recommend this place!

Nice place. Clean. Odd because there's no human contact. Not what I'm used to in the U.P. Also, if the establishment says it has a pool, it should be in working order. (Not sure I would have stayed had I known it wasn't even filled with water. Annoying, and false advertising.) Other than that, a really decent place,if not a little overpriced for what you get....more like a hostel. Good to know it's in Marquette for future stays. Fix the pool, or take it off your ads. 5 yr old wasn't happy

The pool is empty and not being repaired. No beach access, either. I told them it was a problem becase we would have picked a different motel. She said. "Sorry." Most rooms have a balcony or patio. Ours had neither.

This lodging has no one on site, and check-in is all done by email. In the past this has been an issue for us when something goes wrong, because contacting help can be difficult, and addressing problems remotely is not always easy or even possible. However, in this case all went well. The pre-provided key combination worked well for our preassigned room, and we had no problems. The room itself was clean and modern. The hotel was right off the highway, which made being outside unpleasantly loud, but the room itself was reasonably soundproofed.

The Birchy is located just a few minutes drive from Marquette and is across the road from the lake. Our room was ground floor and opened out to a deck that faced the water. In the yard in front of the room were a burn pit and deck chairs. Bikes were available, and although we did not use them, it would be easy to access the town this way, once across the rather busy street. The pool was not yet open. Our room had been redone and had a nice decor, with a larger than usual fridge that actually kept our cold packs frozen. There was almost no one else there, so it was very quiet except for the road traffic. Although it seems like it might be hard to cross the road, it really isn't because of the "no man's land" in the middle. The hotel has a no contact check in and out, providing detailed texts on what to do. This went seamlessly for us. My only issue with the room was a strong mildew smell in the room. Otherwise, the room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable and fresh. We absolutely loved Marquette!

The bed was amazing -by far the most comfortable of our vacation. But, we a had an issue with the lock system and noticed mold on the bathroom.

This is a really nice place to stay. I was by myself and had my two little dogs. I felt very safe, the area was well lit at night, was able to park right in front of my room door. The room was very clean and the bathroom was immaculate. And I loved how they communicate with updates on the room pre arrival via text with door codes, etc. No need to stand in a check in line which was great after a full day of driving! Highly recommend!

The bed was too high, had to stand on a chair to get on it. The electronic key pad malfunctioned, took the staff over an hour to rectify the problem. The hair dryer was missing, and we had the only room in the entire hotel that didn't have a balcony or deck. There were weeds knee high in front of our door. This place did not live up to it's web site description. The only saving grace was that it was extremely clean and the bed was comfortable once I got in it. I would likely not stay there again.

We stayed at The Birchy for two nights, the very first thing we noticed when we walked in was a musty, wet sort of smell. We were upstairs and the water pressure was poor. The room was clean except for; a couple of little stains on the comforter, some stray hairs, and urine under the toilet seat. Nothing horribly noticeable or "disgusting" though. Per other reviews, yes traffic noise is existent and a little loud at times, but the motel is located on a four-lane highway so it is to be expected. The white noise machine helped. We appreciated the modern, clean aesthetic the room had. The text-able concierge was very responsive and friendly. The views of beautiful Lake Superior from the Motel are nice, and the Motel is just a short drive from downtown Marquette and Presque Isle.

Booked this hotel specifically for the view of Lake Superior. Room booked said,king room with patio or balcony, perfect spot for my morning coffee, the room we were given was adjacent to the building with patios and balconies and our room has neither. We booked 3 nights and the parking lot was never full so not sure the downgraded room. The room was clean and newly renovated. The bed was way too tall and the chairs were very uncomfortable. The bathroom looked nice but had no place in the shower for amenities, a Corner shelf is needed. We got 2 each… towels,washcloths and hand towels for a 3 night stay, mind you there is not staff on sight so you can’t go to the desk for extra. If your guest is staying for three nights, leave the appropriate amount of towels. Overall. The room was clean but the room comforts for more than one night were lacking.

Pretty updated space. Love the waterview. Nice easy check-in process. Wish there was vending and more shower pressure. The window air-conditioner was a little loud, but all and all pretty much a perfect night for tge price point

The bed was incredibly comfortable. The lake view room had a better view of the highway than the lake. The highway and the air conditioner were loud. The birches in the picture are only visible from the parking area. Very clean and comfortable.

Everything was really quite perfect. The only criticism that I can offer is that the TV though it’s a huge TV and it’s beautiful. It doesn’t have reception good enough that when you’re trying to watch something every couple of minutes it has to stop and reboot so I would only say that the TV service you either take it out or you get a service that people can watch full movies and TV shows without waiting Every two minutes to see or hear what you were watching thank you you

On the pro side: decent beds updated big picture window and deck facing the lake. Modern crisp esthetic. My 20’s kids would love it! The electric blind, the fancy lit bathroom mirror, the white sound machine ( useful for loud highway noise) On the Con side: There is no lighting in the place except the overhead light in the doorway and bathroom. The bedroom has no lamps or lights and no bedside table to put a book or your glasses. The big con even for my kids is that there are no plugs to charge your devices by the beds. A few lamps, a couple of power bars and a few small bedside tables or even stools would bring the scores up to a 5!! I hope the owners ( I’m thinking they are young entrepreneurs) can add these few essentials to create a winner motel

The Birchy is a renovated motel that sits right on U.S. 41. As their literature states all their rooms face Lake Superior, true, but U.S. 41 is a very busy highway, and the sound proofing the room is not the best. I had to use earplugs and put a pillow on my head to shut out the noise. Otherwise, the room is very contemporary, sparse, but neat and clean. Very good accommodations. There is no front desk, so you let yourself in by an entry code, and leave by using an exit code. Very efficient. Except for the road noise the room was updated and very well appointed though bare. For two travelers, there needs to be at least a 2nd luggage rack. Having some coat hooks would have helped, and a night stand on both sides of the bed, rather than one would have been nice as well.

Amazing room with a view. Very modern. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Even a balcony! Looking forward to stay again. Also quick to respond to txting number which made not having a front desk a non issue. Two thumbs up for that 👍👍

Our rooms were very clean, the service by the staff was excellent - personal phone call before our stay to see if we had any questions, and texts before and after we got there to make sure everything was okay. We needed an extra blanket and they were there within two minutes! We liked the location right across from the lake and the walking/biking path. Great perks of the available bikes and fire pit/corn hole in the yard! We will definitely stay there again.

Property is neat and clean, no staff, all information comes by text. Answered quickly while I was there, but have a question about billing and that is taking longer. If you request a late check out there is a $25/fee. Just a heads up.

Customer service was fantastic! We requested a later checkout time because we were in town for a marathon and we were uncertain when we would finish. They responded immediately and accommodated our request. They had a no contact check in and check out and they communicated all the information to make that smooth experience.

The property has been spruced up recently, and everything was squeaky clean, attractive. The are no "front desk" staff at the facility. You have to reserve online and then I received an email with instructions on how to check in and a code for the door to our unit. Actually there was a barrage of text and email messages about how to check in and check out. The system worked, but I find it off-putting to not have staff available to welcome you, answer questions, etc. We are no longer living with pandemic restrictions, so why act like it? Why this emphasis on doing as much as possible electronically and minimizing human interaction? Part of the pleasure of travelling is interacting with and learning from local hosts.

This is a really nice place to stay. I was by myself and had my two little dogs. I felt very safe, the area was well lit at night, was able to park right in front of my room door. The room was very clean and the bathroom was immaculate. And I loved how they communicate with updates on the room pre arrival via text with door codes, etc. No need to stand in a check in line which was great after a full day of driving! Highly recommend!

I was never given access the booking was inncorect. When I called for help I was given access to someone else room by my surprise. The contact just ignored this happened. They were no help and messed up my whole trip. Causing a terrible experience to me by intrupting someone’s space. I demand a refund.

We enjoyed our stay very much! Someone was in frequent contact to make sure that our needs were being met and also to give instructions on how to access our room, because it’s more of a personal space with no front desk. It was a simple procedure with no problems at all.

This lodging has no one on site, and check-in is all done by email. In the past this has been an issue for us when something goes wrong, because contacting help can be difficult, and addressing problems remotely is not always easy or even possible. However, in this case all went well. The pre-provided key combination worked well for our preassigned room, and we had no problems. The room itself was clean and modern. The hotel was right off the highway, which made being outside unpleasantly loud, but the room itself was reasonably soundproofed.

The Birchy is located just a few minutes drive from Marquette and is across the road from the lake. Our room was ground floor and opened out to a deck that faced the water. In the yard in front of the room were a burn pit and deck chairs. Bikes were available, and although we did not use them, it would be easy to access the town this way, once across the rather busy street. The pool was not yet open. Our room had been redone and had a nice decor, with a larger than usual fridge that actually kept our cold packs frozen. There was almost no one else there, so it was very quiet except for the road traffic. Although it seems like it might be hard to cross the road, it really isn't because of the "no man's land" in the middle. The hotel has a no contact check in and out, providing detailed texts on what to do. This went seamlessly for us. My only issue with the room was a strong mildew smell in the room. Otherwise, the room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable and fresh. We absolutely loved Marquette!

Recently renovated, clean and not too far from town. The noise from the highway wasn't too bad with the windows closed but you are on the highway. Easy check in/out. Would stay again.

Really beautiful view and a great value for the location. We enjoyed the patio a lot. Two notes I would add, if you are hoping to view the northern lights you may want to go off premise as the property is very well lit. Great from a safety perspective, but less so for night sky viewing. There is some degree of road noise on the patio, but that comes with the territory of such a conveniently located roadside stay.

Growing up in Marquette, it was nice to try a newly remodeled hotel. With so many new ones popping up in the downtown area, I was happy to see it being pet friendly. Many people are traveling with their pets now and that is a nice bonus. Beautiful, wooded lot with a gorgeous view of Mother Superior. Nicely remodeled, clean interior room. Plenty of room for pet walking. T.V. was a bit hard to figure out, for some people that are not so tech savvy. US- 41 is loud, as the property is close, so I wore earplugs to help me sleep. The window A/C unit was a little loud, too. A quiet portable fan would have been helpful during the night. Overall, it was a nice place to stay while visiting family in the area.
