Our hosts were very kind and welcoming. The room was good, clean and comfortable. The ensuite was spotless and the towels soft and pure white. Tea making facilities well provided for. Beakfast was excellent. Lots of parking in the driveway. I would stay here again without any hesitation.

Stayed for 3 nights. Very nice, friendly and helpful owners, Spotlessly clean comfortable room with beautiful spacious en suite. Breakfast always included yoghurts, fresh fruit, cereals, selection of juices plus a full cooked option. Plenty of tea, coffee, toasts and jams 😊. Well located, plenty of parking. Would definitely stay again.

Surprisingly nice little bed and breakfast in Bathgate. We chose it because it was not far from Glasgow and about 20 minutes from Edinburgh airport. But it was very clean and had everything we needed. Mary met us at the door and settled us in. The room was slightly small for 4 people, but it worked. Not far from restaurants and other amenities in downtown Bathgate. Parking and breakfast included.

Mary and her husband were very kind and extremely helpful hosts. There was ample breakfast available. There was enough room for 3 adults in our room. Being able to Park on the premises was great.

Cosy clean room, good breakfast, good friendly host. Host communicates about checkin, breakfast time. There is a bustop in 2 minutes walk though Good if you are driving with onsite parking. I would recommend for others.

The style was really beautiful and it felt really like a home. The room was really spacious and so was the bathroom. The shower was easy to work and the toilet was clean. It was nice also that you could make yourself a cup of tea or coffee in the room. The breakfast table every morning looked amazing it was very delicious and the variety was big. Mary and Donald are very friendly people and so is their daughter Louise who was there for us in the first days of our stay. Stayed with my 2 children of 17 and 14. It's really a place that is suitable for any age. As long as you keep quite from 11 pm. Which is logic cause all the people need to sleep in the b&b/ house. And that you can walk up the stairs. ( are the more easy ones) The bus stop is nearby and if you are coming with a car it is easy to park. I am glad that i chose to stay at the Gables and i would really recommend it to others. The location is really good cause its also not far from the bigger cities and beautiful nature is nearby as well. And not to forget that the wifi was working really well.

Staff was wonderful. I stayed in the family room with 1 double and 2 single beds. Breakfast was delightful every morning. As most reviewers stated it is an old building. basin taps takes 3 minutes for hot water - Yes really! the power shower is nice, water flow is slightly low but does the job. Soft mattresses so ideal for those used to it I prefer hard but each to their own. Overall 8/10 as I stayed in October and felt the wind and roof tiles during the night, felt it could be slightly better insulated.

The home is absolutely charming! Mary and Donald were so sweet and helpful, we felt very warmly welcomed. The room was a bit small, but the bathroom was large and comfortable! Breakfast was filling and fresh, it’s clear lots of love and care go into it. The only issue we ran into was frequency of buses and trains, but if you’re willing to walk for 20 minutes to the train station you can get into Edinburgh within an hour.

Spent an overnight as attending a family wedding nearby. The Gables was a great B and B, room was very clean and comfortable and capped off with a lovely breakfast in the morning. I would definitely use The Gables again if in the area.

Hosts were very helpful and understanding. Early checkin: No problem! This morning when I asked my waterbottles (bidon) to be filled for my bikeride to Glasgow, they put in especially icecubes! This helped through the day!

Stayed at The Gables for a weekend in August 2025. Had a wonderful experience, and the convenient location of The Gables made our lives easy. The hostess, Mary, was an absolute diamond. She greeted us warmly and provided us with a wonderful cooked breakfast each morning. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Would highly recommend a stay at The Gables for anyone looking for somewhere homely and welcoming within a short drive to Edinburgh.

Stayed at The Gables for a weekend in August 2025. Had a wonderful experience, and the convenient location of The Gables made our lives easy. The hostess, Mary, was an absolute diamond. She greeted us warmly and provided us with a wonderful cooked breakfast each morning. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Lovely breakfast - quiet neighbourhood not far from station to Edinburgh

The place was just as described and had everything we needed. The real highlight was the excellent breakfast, and the service was outstanding. The location is also very convenient if you’re visiting Edinburgh or traveling to other parts of the Highlands. The only downside was that the sink tap didn’t have hot water

Great B and B. Welcoming hosts. Very clean. Excellent breakfast. Handy for Edinburgh either by car or public transport. Will certainly stay again when next in the area.

A good location if you are driving and visiting Edinburgh, Glasgow and surrounding area on day trips. Room was clean, comfortable and good size for our family of three. Dining places are 10mins walk away.

The house was built in the 1870's. It has lovely charm. They are so very kind and accommodating. My room was nice and clean and comfortable. There's bus stops near by that you can catch to the middle of town and a train station to take you to Edinburgh that's 20 minutes from the house. Everything is convenient. Highly recommend!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Very clean. Spacious twin room. Lovely white soft towels. Water and biscuits, tea and coffee making in the room.lovely fresh breakfast cooked to order. Owners very friendly and hospitable . Would recommend.

The owner was very friendly. We wanted to check outside the timeframe. She was very cooperative and solution driven. The breakfast was very good. Also for people with een glutenallergy. We had nice stay.

This place was amazing! Would definitely come back to stay here again. Great staff! She let us check in early due to us flying in earlier. The breakfast was so delicious and was ALOT of food which was so so nice. Price point really good too.

Would stay again if in the area but need ear plugs if in the family room with the busy road out the front. Lovely breakfast but no options given, all were served cooked breakfast. Lovely selection of yoghurts and fresh fruit. Very friendly and attentive.

The style was really beautiful and it felt really like a home. The room was really spacious and so was the bathroom. The shower was easy to work and the toilet was clean. It was nice also that you could make yourself a cup of tea or coffee in the room. The breakfast table every morning looked amazing it was very delicious and the variety was big. Mary and Donald are very friendly people and so is their daughter Louise who was there for us in the first days of our stay. Stayed with my 2 children of 17 and 14. It's really a place that is suitable for any age. As long as you keep quite from 11 pm. Which is logic cause all the people need to sleep in the b&b/ house. And that you can walk up the stairs. ( are the more easy ones) The bus stop is nearby and if you are coming with a car it is easy to park. I am glad that i chose to stay at the Gables and i would really recommend it to others. The location is really good cause its also not far from the bigger cities and beautiful nature is nearby as well. And not to forget that the wifi was working really well.

Lovely welcoming host who was very accommodating about an early check in to suit our needs. Clean, comfortable room and in a great location. Made us a special early breakfast so we could have something substantial before we headed off.

Siamo stati accolti come se fossimo a casa, nonostante siamo arrivati tardi. La camera è davvero graziosa e abbiamo apprezzato gli snack e l’acqua di benvenuto. Abbiamo dormito molto bene e la colazione è stata davvero strepitosa! Grazie!

Everything was excellent with my stay from the room being really clean, the breakfast was great and plenty of parking space I felt Mary went the extra mile so definitely is a great place to stay

I booked the gables b&b as it was close to were my friends was getting married.There is a car park on site The host Mary was very welcoming and friendly and always making sure i had everything. felt like a home from home The bed was comfortable and slept well, Good choices for breakfast including cooked breakfast. I cant thank mary enough and i would stay here again also as a solo traveller i felt safe here. highly recommend 😀
