Such a nice little gem outside of London as a stop if you’re travelling through or a base if you’re exploring the eastern countryside. The food was particularly delicious and the generous portion sizes will not leave anyone disappointed. We endeavour to return :)

Food was fantastic, real home cooked food, service was great, staff great, lovely old fire place, very welcoming. The bed very comfortable, the only thing that let it down was the internet was a bit hit and miss.

Our was ideal for 4 day stay. The room was clean and large enough for the kids on the sofa and my wife and I in the master. There was plenty of parking. The Pub is nice and the service for breakfast, lunch and dinner was very nice. Everyone was super friendly.

Our Family Stayed for 3 nights! What a pleasure to stay somewhere so friendly and accommodating! Family room was ideal for us and our 2 young boys! There were toys available to keep them busy whilst we got settled in, rooms were clean and a lot of things were considered for comfort and practicality! We appreciated how laid back everything was, there was lots of space for the kids to move around and their play/sandpit area was a massive hit! Staff were so friendly and happy to help! There was lots of choice at breakfast and standard of ingredients and meals overall was fantastic! :) will be staying again! And would recommend for other families! :)

The Kings Arms in Coggeshall was lovely - as were the staff. Breakfast was very good in the morning. Note that there is significant traffic noise from the busy main road that it is on.

The rooms above the pub face an extremely busy main road with no sound proofing. We were awake for most of the night with the constant traffic noise. Breakfast stops being served at 8.50am which we were not told about at check-in. We arrived at 9am and no exception was made even though someone received their breakfast at 9.15am

First night there was a lot of noise from busy road and bar below (although it was mainly our wedding crew) but when we asked to move the 2 nd night they were VERY obliging and that room (8) was amazing. Food very good. (Dinner and breakfast) staff very friendly and all pleasant.

My stay at this hotel was awful. I stayed here on business and had many problems. I stay in 70/80 hotels per year and have never had to complain like this. I was aware just before arrival that they weren’t offering Breakfast or any Evening Meals which was less than ideal in the location. However I had several other issues but to name a few: No milk available for tea or coffee on request Room freezing, no radiators in room and wall unit not on before arrival so I spent 4 hrs having to wear my coat in my room. I left the heater on over night on 28 degrees to get it warm. Exit/Fire Safety lights in room. Large green lights that lit up the room all night so I was unable to sleep. I have never seen this before in any hotel so this needs to be corrected. On checkout the lady I spoke to couldn’t have cared less and didn’t take any of my feedback on board. Hotels.com shouldn’t currently be advertising this hotel as it is not fit for purpose with all the renovations taking place.

Room was very cold but once oil heater turned on got warmer. Food service at breakfast was so slow had to leave before it arrived. Burgers served at the eve meal were burned hard and dry.

Arrived for breakfast this morning to find that no one was there and it was after 7am. I have stayed before and normally it’s really good but there was no one at all in the restaurant bar area , curtains drawn. If a service is offered please make sure that staff are there as it’s not the first time.

Such a nice little gem outside of London as a stop if you’re travelling through or a base if you’re exploring the eastern countryside. The food was particularly delicious and the generous portion sizes will not leave anyone disappointed. We endeavour to return :)

Nice place, lovely rooms, would stay here again. The dinner menu was limited, especially for veggies, only one starter and one main course.

We stayed for one night in the family room which was spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Breakfat in the morning is highly recommended.

The rooms above the pub face an extremely busy main road with no sound proofing. We were awake for most of the night with the constant traffic noise. Breakfast stops being served at 8.50am which we were not told about at check-in. We arrived at 9am and no exception was made even though someone received their breakfast at 9.15am

A really nice hotel rooms are modern large and clean with nice views. Staff are all very nice. The menu was a bit limited but beautiful food.

Room was very cold but once oil heater turned on got warmer. Food service at breakfast was so slow had to leave before it arrived. Burgers served at the eve meal were burned hard and dry.

The rooms were perfectly clean and a decent size, the air conditioning rooms are just perfect for this heat wave. Breakfast is cooked to order and will do almost anything. Perfect stay will definitely return

Breakfast still needs a lot of work to bring it up to an acceptable standard. Slow service and powdered egg for scrambled egg is not good enough

Really good staff but I got out in room 1. Very very small, the boiler for the whole building was literally in my room and very noisy. Room faced onto the main road which was about 4 meters away so noise of traffic going past all night. Shower was absolutely tiny to the point I could barely fit in it. No eardrop just a rail that was placed across the room. Really not adequate unless you need to find somewhere to stay desperately.

Everything good apart from a ridiculously long wait for breakfast. Unsure why, when the breakfast room is virtually empty, it takes 35-45 minutes to serve scrambled eggs and smoked salmon? Shame as such great accommodation but breakfast service really needs urgent attention.

The double bed matress was really bad, probably the worst I have slept in. It has lots of potential but missed the mark on a few things. We had a double room but only 1 cup was in the room and 1 coat hanger. It had a mini fridge but wasn't working. It did have air con. Breakfast could be extended until at least 10.30 as a couple when we were there arrived at 10am to be told breakfast had finished. So as an urgent task replace all mattresses or at least Room 8
