On 9/18 we arrived at the hotel early after catching a 6am flight to Raleigh. After a few hours we went to the hotel and asked for early admission. We offered to pay if necessary The receptionist said no rooms were available and if any rooms did not open up “they were being cleaned” perhaps by 2:30 pm she could give us early check even though 3;00 pm was the actual check in time. Meanwhile the parking lot had very few cars in it when we arrived and it continued to empty out over the next few hours. My husband and grandson waited in the lobby for a room to open up as did I after doing some local shopping. At 2:50 pm the head of housekeeping approached us and asked if she could help? In a nut shell she said she had no idea we were waiting for so long in the lobby and plenty of rooms were available, and had been available for quite awhile, if only she had known she would have accommodated us! I told her that her coworker knew our situation. The housekeeper apologized profusely. The woman in charge of checking in guests barely spoke, or acknowledged her coworker and was taciturn while we were checking in. I have relations in Smithfield whom I plan to visit on occasion, however I will never book at that hotel again …also, the swimming pool is the size of a postage stamp. Lastly, this is the one and only time I have written a negative review on any platform.

Hotel is in need of updating. It is time. Everything felt wet and unclean. Some of the towels had tears in them. Thermostat was set at 58 degrees when we arrived to our room. Tough stay and night sleep.

Hotel could use a lot of cleaning, breakfast was not anything to write home about.

I recommend this place for a very well-maintained stay. 👍
