Lovely accommodation, the bed was very firm. Good location, close to buses that go into the city centre. Only two car parks but there's parking on the street behind.

It served our needs. We got a good nights rest and the beds were very comfortable. Wish there was better parking but we made do. Signage was hard to locate as the sign was in green and writing in gold and hard to see. Maybe sign needed to be bigger or backlit too. We will be staying here again in a week so now we will know where it is!

No personel wellcome. No one available in person at all. No breakfast available since year 2020 despite advertising and specific pricing for breakfast option by EXPEDIA. Garden not usable as in renovation. Ony 1 parking place at premises available. 2 places plocked by building material. Cleanliness poor. Dirty carpet, which needs replacement. Did not see any staff. Book in was by door bell and could not understand person. Television did not work. No facilitiies for food or breakfast. Only one cafe in area, the earl grey cafe, which was very good and we would recommend Room was clean and bed sheets were clean. Managed to get one of two parking spaces.

We stayed here for a night during the Edinburgh Festival and it was well located - 5 min taxi ride, and on bus route. Parking advertised but after enquiring via email, and trying to phone for days, I only received an email on the day of arrival to say only 2 spaces, first come, first served (and they were both busy). Room small and basic as expected, but bathroom pipes made extremely loud noise upon flushing, and also sporadically through the night keeping us awake. Curtains not great at keeping light out and busy road was noisy through the night / early morning. Shower started ok, before also making loud noise and cutting out. Defo had more comfortable stays but not terrible and we were maybe just unlucky with room...

Room was cozy and spotlessly clean. Bathroom looked newly redone, everything worked perfectly. Good location within walking distance of shops, restaurants, bus line. Parking is mostly street parking a block away. Property is self-check-in, very easy!

It was impossible to stay with the window closed because of the odor, but when I opened the window, it was very cold. The property was well cared for. My room was very clean with tea and coffee and useful items such as hand soap and hairdryer. I could have ironed a shirt too. Check in process very easy, just felt a bit odd that I saw no-one at all either staff or other guests! Would stay there again as very convenient.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was inside the room itself, which is great. The shower head had a problem causing some of the water to spray in the wrong direction (my face). I hope that this is fixed because it wastes water and could be solved rather easily . We had no contact with the any staff members, but we received enough information to do the check-in and check-out without having any issues.

The property was very clean and allowed us in our room early. The only thing I was missing was a fan in the room. There wasn’t a lot of circulation in the room and having to keep curtains closed due to sunlight, it would become hot in room. A small fan would help this. Overall, the room is very nice and right along the bus line to catch into town. Very convenient for traveling.

Room was very clean, except for dirty spot on the carpet, which might have been gum or a cigarette burn. The extractor fan was very noisy but i fixed that by removing a wad of dust. The shower door wasn't attached at the top, but was still functional. The lever to adjust shower temp was broken. Snoring from next room was annoying.

The beds were comfortable and check in and check out were hassle free. We were able to drop off our luggage before check in so we could see Edinburgh without worrying about bags. Transportation is right out the front door making it easy to jump on and off the bus to get to and from the Royal Mile.

Quaint stone house converted in to a 10 room hotel. These are quite common in Edinburgh, and there are quite a few of them in the same area. Recently renovated and clean. The other guests were all quite which was nice. A short distance from the action of the Royal Mile, about 10 min by buses that run ever few minutes. WiFi was very slow, but other then that it was a great place to stay and I would stay here again.

Beautiful old building. Great area. Rooms were quite nice and clean. Just no staff were ever present in our three night stay. An elderly couple who couldn’t speak English sat in the front lobby, often. I’m not sure if they worked there cleaning rooms or were a guest but if the worked there they made no attempt to communicate or help out, which was an issue because the front door to the building on a busy street was always left open

Everything was good except one thing. At 6 am the fire alarm went off. All the guests gathered outside the building in the dark. This is not the fault of the hotel. What is a problem though is that, when we (the hotel guests) tried to call the hotel's two emergency numbers, neither was working. Both went straight to voice email. (Eventually we figured out another way to contact the hotel staff - and they came after half an hour or so.) But to not answer your own emergency numbers strikes me as quite serious.

I enjoyed my stay at the Alexander guest house. For a cheap price for 2 nights in Edinburgh city, this was a perfect place to stay. The owner was friendly and helped with any issues I encountered. The other staff was also extremely helpful and helped me get back into my room after i locked my key inside in the middle of the night

A good location and felt safe. The check in process was difficult in that we had to ring an intercom twice and were told our passcode number to obtain our key through this intercom. There was no phone number on the Expedia app or online to ring in advance to confirm any booking, etc.

Stayed for Oasis, and convenient for the Fringe. Unfortunately the shower was either plentiful and boiling, or dripping and cold. Pretty dangerous actually! No staff, and no ability to store keys safely as we went out.

Lovely accommodation, the bed was very firm. Good location, close to buses that go into the city centre. Only two car parks but there's parking on the street behind.

I loved my room here (number 7). Bigger than other single rooms I had on my trip, beautiful wallpaper, window seat, lovely view of Arthurs Seat. Bathroom was small and the water pressure wasn't great. Bus stop to town just across the road. Be aware it's at least 10 mins walk to the nearest shop.

The beds were comfortable and check in and check out were hassle free. We were able to drop off our luggage before check in so we could see Edinburgh without worrying about bags. Transportation is right out the front door making it easy to jump on and off the bus to get to and from the Royal Mile.

No personel wellcome. No one available in person at all. No breakfast available since year 2020 despite advertising and specific pricing for breakfast option by EXPEDIA. Garden not usable as in renovation. Ony 1 parking place at premises available. 2 places plocked by building material. Cleanliness poor. Dirty carpet, which needs replacement. No room cleaning at all during 3 days stay. Only 2 trash bins were emptied. In general modern facilities, but: Only one small towel beneth two larger ones for shower. No WC brush for cleaning.

Did not see any staff. Book in was by door bell and could not understand person. Television did not work. No facilitiies for food or breakfast. Only one cafe in area, the earl grey cafe, which was very good and we would recommend Room was clean and bed sheets were clean. Managed to get one of two parking spaces.

Very clean and tidy, with a very comfy bed and good shower. Only met the staff very briefly and check in hence the 4 staffs but everything was fine with enough tea and coffee. Would be great if they did breakfasts

We really enjoyed our stay at the Alexander Guest House. It was clean and well upkept with large rooms - 12ft ceiling, even! It's in a beautiful and green part of Edinburgh and is nearby several bus routes, a 15 minute walk from some shops, restaurants and tourism attractions. It is also a 30ish minute walk to Old Town. We didn't see anyone else there during our stay, so I can't comment on the staff. There was a kettle provided but it was difficult to fill from the bathroom sink. Maybe there was a kitchen elsewhere in the building but I didn't explore. The bathroom was nice, clean, and well appointed and the beds comfortable.

Prédio histórico, mas com o interior renovado. Ótimo atendimento, localização, café da manhã e instalações. O único problema que encontrei foi que, na luminária do banheiro, em alguns momentos, pingava água. Acredito que era um problema pontual, só do meu quarto.

Das Zimmer war im Keller, so dass die Aussicht eine Treppe war. Die Ausstattung des Zimmers war auch sehr schlecht. Es gab zwar einen Wasserkocher für Tee und Kaffee aber die Tassen wurden nicht gewechselt. Die in der Anzeige angegebene tägliche Reinigung der Zimmer belief sich auf Mülleimer leeren. Die Betten wurden nicht gemacht, das Bad wurde nicht gereinigt. Die Ausstattung des Bads war auch nicht gut, die Toilette war lose, es gab keine Toilettenbürste, keine Ablage für Kosmetika und eine Steckdose für den Fön war ebenfalls nicht vorhanden, so dass man sich im Zimmer ohne Spiegel die Haare föhnen konnte.
