Excellent location. The room was smallish but pleasant, the bar is charming, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The elevator kept breaking down, but that is minor. A great place to stay In Amsterdam.

Nice hotel in good location but bar service not great and bedroom cold. I contacted reception who had someone check this but I then couldn't slow air speed. Some instructions for heating and coffee machine would have been useful in rooms

The hotel was excellent. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant were very nice. Enjoyed our stay and will stay again if we return to Amsterdam.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Mercier for 4 nights (as part of a 12-day Europe trip from Toronto), and it ended up being one of our favourite stops. We stayed in a Comfort Double Room, which was a great size, perfect for unpacking and feeling settled. I loved that we could put everything away, even our luggage cases, which kept the space uncluttered. The room was super quiet, which was amazing for rest, and the robes and slippers were so great to have. Another highlight was being able to check in early after our long overnight flight. We loved having access to the Double Shift gym for a reduced fee—it’s a great gym and such a bonus to have while traveling. The location couldn’t be better either: right in the heart of Jordaan, so close to everything, but the hotel itself felt calm and tucked away. A few small negatives: there was no fridge in the room, housekeeping usually came around 5pm (a bit awkward timing when you’re getting ready for dinner), and our room window didn’t look outside but into an interior hallway. That made the space darker than we would have liked. Overall, though, the hotel was charming, comfortable, and perfectly located. We’d definitely recommend it and would happily stay again!

Sehr gute Wahl, sehr zentral gelegen. Konnten alles zu Fuß erreichen, was wir wollten. Einziger Punkt der sehr schade war: Eine wunderschöne Bar mit allem, was das Herz begeht - leider kein Barkeeper vorhanden, deswegen Bar geschlossen. Das war sehr, sehr schade. Aber der einzige Punkt, den wir schade fanden. Aber das kommt halt heutzuage auch mal vor. Gerne wieder !

The hotel was very nice. We got a multi-Cleveland room the first night which we did not like and they were great about changing the room for us. Service in the bar was very slow, which made it a little challenging to grab pre-dinner drinks. Overall, the experience was very good. Great location.

We had a great stay at Hotel Mercier. It is in a great location for walking around the city or taking trams, and is also close to shops and restaurants. We loved our room with the comfortable bed and breakfast was also good. The one thing is that housekeeping wasn’t very consistent and our room didn’t get cleaned every day, even when we were gone all day.

Most of things were ok except one thing, which is not acceptable by any standard, Thursday, 22nd, came back to hotel around 4pm, came in the room ( we were staying three nights), nothing was done for house cleaning, except the tips left on table was taken. It meant the house maid came in, took the $ and left without doing any cleaning job. Need to inform the staff and then supervisor was called to see the situation before she call the maid to do the job. The maid came without showing any embarrassment and ask me to stay in the room while she was doing the cleaning job and I rejected.

Had an amazing stay here! Came here with my partner for a leisure trip, expected the room to be tiny by Amsterdam standards but it was a huge room with a living room attached to it. Not sure if all the deluxe rooms are like that but the room was massive, clean, and comfortable. The location was perfect, central to everything we wanted to do. Staff was super nice and helped with everything we needed. They don’t come in to change towels or tidy the room as often as one might expect but that didn’t bother us too much. I believe of the 5 nights we were there they only came in 2 times maybe 3 but I’m sure if you ask they’d be happy to accommodate. But overall great hotel and location, friendly staff and a clean quiet room. Also loved the aesthetic of the whole place!

During my four-night stay, I spoke to the front desk on two successive mornings about the filth and dust in my room and politely asked to please direct Housekeeping to thoroughly clean my room and remedy the situation. On both occasions, the front desk apologized and assured me it would be rectified right away. The second time I even invited the front desk staff to my room to see the dirt for herself; she was shocked and agreed it was unacceptable (see images for sample areas). If the front desk in fact did anything, their intervention with Housekeeping on either morning was wholly ineffective. Nothing was cleaned. The Front desk did give me a lame drinks voucher "for my inconvenience". It was not just a mere "inconvenience", but a gross and unacceptable room. When I returned from work to the room on my last night and discovered nothing was cleaned again, after 60 hours after my first visit to the Frontdesk, I complained to the duty manager. She apologized sincerely, but there was nothing left to be done, she said. As a bonus, I found a very smelly cleaning cloth left next to my sink and on my dental floss packet (which I had to throw away). The housecleaning crew in this hotel obviously cares neither about guests and their comfort nor about basic hygienic standards. The hotel looks pretty swanky, breakfast is ok, but the staff's responsiveness was horrible, and the housekeeping staff should all be fired. Avoid this hotel at all costs. You can do a lot better for this rate.

Staff was warm and courteous. Hotel was clean. Lovely little breakfast. Great location for walking around the central city. Highly recommend this hotel. We had two rooms. One had plenty of room. The other was a little small, but it was quiet.

The only thing we did not like was the flight of stairs inside our room (107). They are inconvenient with luggage and a safety hazard . The carpet color is very dark and the last step blends into the floor making if hard to see. The staff did offer to come to our room to carry our bags which was nice.

WiFi was provided but was unusable it was so slow, everything just timed out. Room was ok but shower leaked and floorboards by shower floor were starting to rot from being soaked all the time. The window opened but the curtains prevented it from being closed again without climbing on furniture ( luckily we like the windows open). There is no clothes storage just a few coat hangers on a free standing mirror, we had to ask for suitcase stands to prevent us having to grovel in the floor all the time. The strange reception set up left an unwelcoming vibe really. Spent less money in hotels which had a much friendlier more luxurious feel to them. Definitely not worth the premium pricing!

This hotel was very nice. The beds were extremely comfortable. There were two twins together for a king size bed. The room was very small which is the only negative. Our suitcases fit on the bench at the end of the bed. No closet available.

There was no door to the shower. I was sharing the room with my daughter so that was not good. Front desk operation is odd. The staff was very friendly but not able to solve our problems. Room temperature was a bit uneven. Elevator was always freezing. Beds were comfortable and room was very quiet. Nespresso and kettle in the room were very welcome.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful in a lovely neighborhood filled with restaurants and cafés, and within walking distance to many local attractions. The staff was lovely and helpful, the property was well-maintained, and in an area that felt very safe. Just be prepared for much smaller rooms than you’re accustomed to (we were prepared for that, but still, it was pretty tight ), as well as having no closet space to hang things, or drawers to put belongings away. They did make an effort with a corner folding screen that had some hooks, but nowhere near enough to hang clothing if you’re there more than a day or two. In addition, our room had a shower in the bedroom itself with a glass door so it was awkward trying to maintain a little privacy. I would absolutely still recommend this hotel, and definitely enjoyed my stay there As a reference point, we booked the Comfort twin room

Awesome location and beautiful decor. Would definitely stay here again. Only complaint was that the room was smaller than expected and didn’t have a ton of hangers, or areas to hang clothes for both my partner and I. There was no closet… just a couple hooks on a decorative divider.

Staff was great. Restaurant and bar area were nice, but limited. Rooms were pretty, but do not have any place to store clothing. There’s no closet, dresser, or shelves…only 6 hangers on a privacy screen.

The lobby and restaurant area looked nice, but the general vibe of the room corridors and my room was so offputting that I cut my stay short by two nights even though I wouldn’t get my money back. The bed in my room was comfortable but the dark decor and hard floors made the room feel cold and unwelcoming. Better lighting, a lighter paint color and a rug would make the room more welcoming. There was nowhere to hang my coat or put anything. A little hook and floating shelf would have been an easy fix (I ended up hanging my coat and clothes in the bathroom.) It was very sparsely furnished which made my brief stay inconvenient. The toilet was also weirdly very high. I’ve been in worse hotels, and the location is good, but I would not stay here again as it doesn’t offer a very welcoming or comfortable space to rest while on vacation.

Enjoyed my stay at Hotel Mercier, good location and very cosy rooms with comfortable bed and soft bedding. Tasteful design and great dining room. Unfortunately the hotel would not accommodate my early arrival and I was left to sit in the lounge for most of the day. I was also a little disgruntled that people who arrived after me were being checked in whilst I was left with no room. I'd emailed prior so this was not good service. Would have happier customers if it tried to accommodate them more.

Hotel Mercier was a wonderful place to stay. Room was comfortable & clean. Breakfast was excellent. But it was the excellent staff that made our stay so enjoyable. The last morning we had to leave early for the airport & had arranged for coffee & a to-go breakfast before the regular time for breakfast. When the kitchen staff didn’t arrive, the front desk agent went above & beyond to make sure that we had what we needed before we left. Excellent service from front desk agent!! All front desk staff were helpful & friendly. We are very happy with Hotel Mercier!

As seasoned travelers who have stayed in hotels across Europe, we have rarely encountered such a misleading, dishonest, and disappointing experience as we did at Hotel Mercier. First, we paid extra for a deluxe room, expecting a higher level of comfort. Instead, we were placed in a motel-style room outside the main hotel, where anyone walking by could see directly into our space. This was nowhere near the standard of a "deluxe" room and was blatantly misleading. When I requested to be moved, I was told the hotel was full and that I would have to wait until the next day—something that should have been disclosed upfront. Unfortunately, overnight, my husband became very ill, and we decided to fly home to New York a day early. I spoke with Lazlo at the front desk, who clearly assured me that the hotel would not charge us for the unused night as long as Hotels.com agreed to waive the cancellation fee. Wanting to confirm, I immediately contacted Hotels.com, and they confirmed they had no issue processing the refund—as long as the hotel honored their agreement. Lazlo had already assured me they would. However, after we checked out, Hotel Mercier blatantly denied this agreement, both to us and to Hotels.com. Hotels.com made multiple attempts to verify the information directly with the hotel, yet each time, Hotel Mercier refused to acknowledge what their own employee had promised. Instead, they dismissed the situation by saying Lazlo had made a mistake—completely disregarding the fact

Nice property in a nice area. Room was a good size. Bar was good, did not take the breakfast option. Staff was mainly polite with the exception of a rude woman. We had a few interactions with her and were not impressed. We asked for a cab to take us to the Dutch Resistance Museum and she was short with us and replied “never heard of it!” Seriously?? And she’s in the tourism industry? Made a very poor impression on our group of six. The broken elevator on our last day was not helpful either as we were on the 5th floor and had to drag our bags to the lobby for checkout. I would not stay at this hotel again.

We arrived very early in the morning and were told our room would not be ready until 3 pm since the hotel was sold out. However, I became sick later in the morning and the staff did everything they could to get me into a room right away. I really appreciate the caring and concern they showed me. Thankfully, I felt better later that day but it was so nice to be cared about especially in a foreign country. I just can’t thank them enough for going to great lengths to get us into a room so quickly.

Great location and beautiful property! They keep the front doors locked, so I felt very safe. FYI, you can hear the bells ringing from the nearby church which is nice, but also takes some getting used to during the night. I would definitely stay here again!

this hotel is in a great location across the canal from the Anne Frank house. Walkable area with many restaurants and shops. Hotel was quiet, clean and a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Loved having the water and sweets in the lobby.

The hotel is lovely and is located in a great area close to all the sites and activities I wanted to do. The staff is excellent; very professional, efficient, and helpful. I really enjoyed the pre fixe vegan dinner and wine pairing the night I arrived. I highly recommend this hotel to others.

When we invited friends visiting from London to join us for drinks, we waited approximately 15 minutes before being attended to, followed by another 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. This was disappointing, particularly when entertaining guests. Despite these two shortcomings, our overall experience was very positive. The hotel's wonderful location, atmosphere, and convenience made our stay memorable, and we would certainly consider returning on a future visit to Amsterdam.

Friendly staff. The only things I could complain about is that the lighting in the room is on the dimmer side, and there doesn’t seem to be away to get bright lighting in the room. There’s also very little storage for clothes etc so expect to live out of your suitcase.
