My room was clean and comfortable. The common areas were a bit run down and lounge a/c was not working. I liked the all day access to coffee, hot water, and filtered water bottle refilling station. The location is close to the airport and light rail but awful otherwise (but most San Jose hotels are not in great areas). I would stay there again for a short trip—it was well priced.

This is a Holiday Inn, so I had reasonably high expectations- especially since it wasn't cheap. The negatives: Well, initially, I had to change rooms 3 times due to the disgusting floors and the bathroom sink not draining. Then, I found that the room really wasn't clean. There were leftover particles everywhere. I also did not like that you could not even open a window to let some fresh air in. Also, the parking situation was horrible. They share a parking lot with the hotel next to them and it still isn't enough. The positives were: The front desk. The guys at the front desk were very nice. Some of the most helpful and courteous front desk that I have ever dealt with. When I initially wanted to switch rooms they were extremely accomodating. Also, the rooms are quiet. The beds are nice. But again, for the amount I paid, I would have expected the rooms to be spotless and clean and they were not. I have stayed at lesser hotels that were cleaner than this.

Entrance is dull and drab. Room 108 was dull and drab. Stripped bedding sat outside in the hallway floor for two hours. HI Express looks like the poorer cousin of the Hilton Hampton, right across the parking lot. No “grab and go” breakfast bags offered for early departures. Mini muffin bin was empty at our departure at 7 am. Airport shuttle is way too small— carries only 4 passengers with luggage. It also should start departures at 5 a.m.
