Tru by Hilton Richmond

This appears to be a new state of the art hotel. I would highly recommend it. There was coffee and hot drinks available 24hrs. Places to work in the room and in the lobby. The staff was friendly and personable.

We liked how friendly the staff was. The gentleman that checked us in made it very simple & quick. He also offered us a coupon for a free appetizer when we said we were going to get dinner later. The lobby looked great my husband even challenged me to a pool game after dinner. Our room was a bit disappointing though. After such a great first impression we were let down quite a bit. We’ve stayed at several different brand of hotels. The only way I can think of to describe this room is it was a BEDroom. Yes the bed was comfortable. But the room itself was smaller than any hotel room we’ve been in. I realize it was more of a modern minimalist look. In regards to instead of closets there were hooks or hangers on a pipe. Which is and was totally fine. What we did not care for was the loud constant noise from the air conditioning unit. And whenever someone flushed the toilet. We had to close the bathroom door because of the noise it made for approximately 5 minutes. Luckily my wife had brought air freshener with us. Because the exhaust fan didn’t work in our bathroom. In the morning not only did the water leak all over the bathroom floor. We had to leave the door open to allow the steam to escape. My husband almost fell in the shower. His foot had stepped on a corner of a panel that was covering the drain. If he hadn’t caught himself on the safety bar his head would have hit the shower glass door. Most Tru properties are new but you can tell this was a older hotel made to look new.

The property is fairly new and is in good condition. Cleanliness was ok not great. The hotel is pet friendly but their pet fee is normally $75 per night (they discounted it to $40 for us) which is totally unacceptable. We won’t be staying there again.

nice hotel, staff was kind to my dog and understanding about him barking for few minutes after i left him in the room.

Always the best IMO clean efficient and great comfortable beds!! Dogs are happy there too!!

Quiet, well-maintained facility and clean. I like its simplicity and humor. Also, the breakfast is very good. We plan on staying Tru as often as we can.

This was a good facility, it was quiet and super clean! It is fine for a single traveller but if there is more than one in your party - note that there is ONE chair in the room - no where else for anyone to sit except on the bed! No dresser, no closet, bare minimum - very European in this aspect. I do NOT like to socialize with people randomly so going down to the lobby where there is an overabundance of chairs and furniture was not in the cards for us. The one ice machine - on the first floor and they had plastic buckets! Which did nothing to keep the ice cold or covered. Price was fine, but for what the room had - expensive.

it was clean and staff was friendly. There was a great bowling alley/Arcade/restaurant across the street.

Requested a room on top floor, which turned out to be a mistake. Apparently the AC units are on roof above top floor rooms. It was very noisy, even the walls vibrated from the sound. We were able to move to third floor. Girl at front desk was very accomadating.

It was good. Very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the air conditioning is so loud and noisy in room 310. And there’s nothing to eat for breakfast for some fun with celiac except for boiled eggs.

The room had poor lighting and no closet space, only hooks. The bed pillows were flat and uncomfortable. There were no bedside tables and only 1 chair. I would not recommend this hotel.

Overall a nice hotel...but definitely high traffic wear. Wallpaper was coming off the wall in the bathroom, towel hooks falling out of wall. My only other complaint was the noise of the room doors....they would automatically slam shut behind you, so anytime someone returned to their room it would be super loud!

room as small as a camper ... if I wanted a room so small, I would have rented a boat or camper! No desk to work at, no place to open and use the portable ironing board... not able to hang clothes as clothes hanger right over microwave, refrigerator. No bed light to turn on ... use a cpap and no place to place device. Should I continue?

Nice and clean room with comfortable bed and minimal furniture. Excellent for a short stay. Housekeeping is upon request and we didn't need it. Most probably we will stay again next time in town.

Okay but thought it a bit small space

We were in Richmond for the EKU graduation. The hotel was full but you wouldn’t know it as staff was friendly, unhurried and hotel was exceptional. Second time staying here. Both times the stay was perfect.

Upon arrival, the lady at the check-in attempted checking us in to a double queen room when our reservation was for a single king bed. My bank statement shows a charge $90 dollars more than the amount shown upon booking. I am unsure of why the amount was different. All that aside it was a nice hotel.

The room I was initially given clearly was occupied so I had to immediately turn around and go back to the front desk. Second room was fine aside from loose faucet fixture on counter and loose shower head from wall. Breakfast was barely average... expected better at this price point. Only chose this hotel since relatives were staying here too.

The design of the hotel is really good. This was our first stay at TRU by Hilton. The breakfast was excellent. There was a casual but efficient attitude about the staff throughout the facility. The room was comfortable and nice, the bathroom needed better care: the wallpaper was lifting at the edges, the sink's faucet was loose at the base.

This in my opinion is good for 1 night stay, breakfast was good. Coffee was really good.
