What a great place to stay in Edinburgh! It's in a good location and minutes walking distance from the Royal Mile. The flat was modern, clean and spacious. There's no staff onsite but they sent me the access code and instructions in advance. I like that there's also a reception area on the ground floor where we could use before or after check in/out.

Nice apartment at the end of the Royal Mile next door to Holyrood Palace. Very clean and modern with a few caveats. 1) Check in instructions come an hour or so before the 3 pm check in. Email notes code to use to enter premises. There are two doors/gates from the street, and the code should work for both but ours only worked for the right door/gate which was the street entrance to the apt tower (walk down the little hallway tunnel then enter code again on the left at tower). The left door/gate is suppose to be the Lounge/laundry area that all guests can access but I was never able to check as our code didn’t work (I didn’t bother to ask for a new code as we had other issues to fix during our stay noted below). 2) Stairs and not accessible friendly. Just noting that the apartments are mostly in the tower which has a narrow winding staircase. 3) We stayed in Mrs Ludsmen and the one bedroom apt was very nice and clean. However pls note that the toilet was 100% not working (wouldn’t stop running and couldn’t flush until water ran its course which sometimes took a few hours). Other times, it worked fine for a few flushes then would start to run again. They did send someone out to check it out but I never received any info on the issue as we were out sightseeing. When we got back, it worked for 2 flushes and then it stopped working for a few hours. 4) If you need reliable WiFi, I would get your own or use your phone’s cell plan. The free WiFi barely worked no matter time of day.

This is quite a unique property, having the modern finish in an old style building… the location is stunning and looks out to the parliament building, Arthur’s Seat and Holyrood Palace… It was very comfortable and had everything you could need for a long or short stay … quite luxurious, but we paid a premium rate due to local events being on and high demand for accommodation… would definitely recommend and return when a better price option. Minor details… little bits of dry veg in the fridge.. details of how to use entry system were not given with booking and when we got into reception no-one there and tried calling the mobile number left, but unanswered. This delayed our entry to the property, having to call the help line again … although they were helpful and able to get us in.

A lovely apt to have as a base. Easily walked to bus stops for the hop on hop off buses. Next to Holyrood Palace and Kings Gallery. You might even see protestors at the Scottish Parliament from your window as well as Arthur's seat. Abbey Strand had everything we needed and I would stay longer if I could. They have a wonderful laundry/ common lounge area.

Location was absolutely incredible. Very comfortable and clean. Everymorning woke up overlooking Holyrood House. Stunning. Only problem was the 3 flights if spiral staircase that's one had to maneuver up and eventually down with larger suitcases. We were traveling for 15 days. Beyond that wonderful

IMPORTANT: I want to give a 4 but I can’t. The space is cute and cozy. 1. We initially had difficulty accessing the apartment and were given the wrong code.Ultimately we got in after about 20 minutes. 2 The remotes didn’t work and one tv was not functions all. We don’t watch tv much but it should work. 3. There is mold in the shower crevices near basin. 4. The bathroom floor has perma-dirt on the otherwise lovely tile. 5. THERE IS A WEEKLY FIRE ALARM on Thursdays (“per the palace”) and no one mentions this terrifying 9 am interruption of calm. Nuts. They treated this as normal. It’s not normal. The hotel is near things (nature & entertainment/food).and in a great location. The other amenities were fine. The support team is polite and swift. The housekeeper will probably smoke outside your window if you face the beautiful garden so mind the windows as she does not care about the influence of her habit upon guests. The client support is offsite so there’s a gap in services. Baggage storage is also offsite but conveniently near both castle and train station. There is no one onsite for such amenities. What’s good: comfy beds, usable kitchen space, private apartment on its own floor, a lovely courtyard, next to palace grounds and a museum, good bath supplies and a wonderful soak tub, and a bit of city view from multiple windows, nice decor and clean space beyond bathrooms.

Really lovely apartment with great views, in a beautifully-restored historic building. Also, convenient for sightseeing BUT (1) the only access to the apartments was by a narrow, spiral staircase. I understand that it's an old building so not possible to install an elevator, but there should be a very clear warning on the website that this accommodation is NOT disabled-friendly. (2) The apartment was cleaned only once in our 4 day stay. (3) There was never anyone at the Reception. Instead I had to contact another branch of Cheval Apartments in Edinburgh to get assistance.

This apartment was beautiful, location superb. The decoration of a very high standard like a luxury hotel. The 2 bedrooms and bathrooms absolutely stunning! We loved this beautiful apartment and wished it had not been a flying visit! The cleanliness is immaculate and the overall feel is very warm and inviting! We will return one day’ if you want a location with views and just off the Royal Mile this is wonderfully place! Beautiful, highly recommended

We had a lovely stay at Abbey Strand Apartments. The apartment was very clean and was very well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. Although the apartment is quite small it was a perfect size for us as a couple. The only negative was that the information regarding check-in wasn’t very clear as to which doors we had to use. We ended up going round by the side of the building through a gate and we were stopped by a woman in a security uniform. She was very pleasant and helped us but this was not ideal and we had to help another party who were checking-in while we were there.

Very comfortable apartment with well done amenities. Spotless. Would definitely stay there again. Right next to Holyrood House, Parliament and Dynamic Earth. Less conveniently located for other areas although the #35 bus is steps away.

We loved this apartment, but if WiFi is at all important to you, be warned that although it is billed as including WiFi, it only worked for us in the building lounge and not in our apartment at all. Beautiful building in beautiful location—nearest neighbor seemed to be the king? It’s right by the palace and across from the parliament building. Very quiet at night but it’s a walk to groceries. Housekeeping every day. Excellent bed but bed in fold out couch could have been better (but we have had worse). Check-in process was a little mysterious because our email with instructions didnt get send until very late morning that day and we had already left our previous accommodation and had no access to email

Cheval exceeded our expectations! It was clean, quiet, large, comfortable, and recently renovated. There is a lot to do nearby and everything is walkable. However, it is at the end of the Royal Mile at the bottom of a gentle hill. The good thing is it provides a peaceful night's sleep. The not-so-good thing is that is at one end of the town so you have to walk towards the center of town to do everything.

The apartment was beautiful!! Clean, decorated lovely and functional. The bathrobes provided were an extra nice. The location was just perfect. We went to breakfast about a quarter of a mile away. Quiet, tucked away by the Holyrood house gardens, it was the perfect place to stay.

Incredibly comfortable and luxurious with meticulous attention to detail and conscious efforts made to supply local products. The location is ideal for city access yet safe and quiet in the grounds of Holyrood Palace. Loved staying at Abbey Strand! Very historic building but with all modern conveniences. Quiet part of Royal Mile away from noise & traffic but easy walk to anywhere. No air conditioning but temps are generally cooler. Definitely recommend a stay when in Edinburgh.

We loved this apartment, but if WiFi is at all important to you, be warned that although it is billed as including WiFi, it only worked for us in the building lounge and not in our apartment at all. Beautiful building in beautiful location—nearest neighbor seemed to be the king? It’s right by the palace and across from the parliament building. Very quiet at night but it’s a walk to groceries. Housekeeping every day. Excellent bed but bed in fold out couch could have been better (but we have had worse). Really lovely apartment with great views, in a beautifully-restored historic building. Also, convenient for sightseeing BUT (1) the only access to the apartments was by a narrow, spiral staircase. I understand that it's an old building so not possible to install an elevator, but there should be a very clear warning on the website that this accommodation is NOT disabled-friendly. (2) The apartment was cleaned only once in our 4 day stay. (3) There was never anyone at the Reception. Instead I had to contact another branch of Cheval Apartments in Edinburgh to get assistance.

We thought the room was really amazing and in just about the best location you could imagine. We had a lot of trouble with instructions such as we received a map for parking and the map had nothing to do with where parking actually would be. We were told there was a common room where we could do laundry, but we never discovered where that common room might be so there were definitely some communications issues With a mysterious person who we would communicate with via messages . We ended up parking very expensively in one place the day we rented a car. We never got the laundry done.

Nice apartment at the end of the Royal Mile next door to Holyrood Palace. Very clean and modern with a few caveats. 1) Check in instructions come an hour or so before the 3 pm check in. Email notes code to use to enter premises. There are two doors/gates from the street, and the code should work for both but ours only worked for the right door/gate which was the street entrance to the apt tower (walk down the little hallway tunnel then enter code again on the left at tower). The left door/gate is suppose to be the Lounge/laundry area that all guests can access but I was never able to check as our code didn’t work (I didn’t bother to ask for a new code as we had other issues to fix during our stay noted below). 2) Stairs and not accessible friendly. Just noting that the apartments are mostly in the tower which has a narrow winding staircase. 3) We stayed in Mrs Ludsmen and the one bedroom apt was very nice and clean. However pls note that the toilet was 100% not working (wouldn’t stop running and couldn’t flush until water ran its course which sometimes took a few hours). Other times, it worked fine for a few flushes then would start to run again. They did send someone out to check it out but I never received any info on the issue as we were out sightseeing. When we got back, it worked for 2 flushes and then it stopped working for a few hours. 4) If you need reliable WiFi, I would get your own or use your phone’s cell plan. The free WiFi barely worked no matter time of day.

Advised to down load both Expedia and Cheval app - neither could provide missing information that was in absent email. Phone number in app and in property window went to voicemail. IMPORTANT: I want to give a 4 but I can’t. The space is cute and cozy. 1. We initially had difficulty accessing the apartment and were given the wrong code.Ultimately we got in after about 20 minutes. 2 The remotes didn’t work and one tv was not functions all. We don’t watch tv much but it should work. 3. There is mold in the shower crevices near basin. 4. The bathroom floor has perma-dirt on the otherwise lovely tile. 5. THERE IS A WEEKLY FIRE ALARM on Thursdays (“per the palace”) and no one mentions this terrifying 9 am interruption of calm. Nuts. They treated this as normal. It’s not normal. The hotel is near things (nature & entertainment/food).and in a great location. The other amenities were fine. The support team is polite and swift. The housekeeper will probably smoke outside your window if you face the beautiful garden so mind the windows as she does not care about the influence of her habit upon guests. The client support is offsite so there’s a gap in services. Baggage storage is also offsite but conveniently near both castle and train station. There is no one onsite for such amenities. What’s good: comfy beds, usable kitchen space, private apartment on its own floor, a lovely courtyard, next to palace grounds and a museum, good bath supplies and a wonderful soak tub, and a bit of city view from multiple windows, nice decor and clean space beyond bathrooms.

Highly recommend this property. Has the best of both a hotel and a apartment (still had somewhere to store luggage when we check out, umbrellas, lobby to wait for taxis). Great staff (Peter), couldn't be more helpful!

Great location, right at the end of the Royal Mile so you're close to everything but still in a quiet little spot. Beautiful garden and view of the crag overlooking the city. Very well appointed apartments, very clean. Overall our favourite place to stay while on our trip to the UK.

You might even see protestors at the Scottish Parliament from your window as well as Arthur's seat. Abbey Strand had everything we needed and I would stay longer if I could. They have a wonderful laundry/ common lounge area.

Cheval exceeded our expectations! It was clean, quiet, large, comfortable, and recently renovated. There is a lot to do nearby and everything is walkable. However, it is at the end of the Royal Mile at the bottom of a gentle hill. The good thing is it provides a peaceful night's sleep. The not-so-good thing is that is at one end of the town so you have to walk towards the center of town to do everything.

The apartment was beautiful!! Clean, decorated lovely and functional. The bathrobes provided were an extra nice. The location was just perfect. We went to breakfast about a quarter of a mile away. Quiet, tucked away by the Holyrood house gardens, it was the perfect place to stay.

Fantastic location-abutting Holyrood Palace , overlooking the Parliament & at the bottom of the Royal Mile. Oh & views of Arthur’s seat - what more could you want. Comfortable accommodation, not cheap and not quite the same as it was in its previous re incarnation. To nit pick - our bathroom had no lit mirrors and was dark as well as smelling a bit damp, the bin was broken (but usable) and the door to the street didn’t lock after you went through it - frequently unlocked. I nit pick because of the cost - it was a treat for us for our daughters graduation & was an experience for an overseas relative.
