Super hotel - really old, in the nicest possible way - this place dates to the mid 1700s. Have stayed here a few times and it's the full Highland experience - great warm hospitality, lovely bars, good food and live music if you're lucky to be there on a Friday evening. Love the George.

Loved it. Beautiful hotel, with an even amazing staff. Everyone who helped us was genuinely kind. And our 20 month old basked in the attention of all the “aunties” - staff was helpful in managing our requests. Our room was a lot more spacious than we were expecting which we loved! My only comments for improvement were regarding the WiFi- it was spotty and I gave up using it after a while. Also the hot water reserve is quite low and we barely add any hot water in our unit. It warmed up but only after running the shower for quite sometime which I found wasteful.

This property is 160 years old so you have to expect that not everything will be great. There is a small parking lot which was full. Your parking choices are on the street or at a historic jail which is in back of the hotel. There is no elevator. Our room was spacious with a king bed and a sofa and chair. The bathroom was very large with a jacuzzi tub and shower. It is located in a very small village which closes down around 5 so there was little noise at night. Breakfast was included and it was wonderful. Inveraray Castle is 5 minutes away and a must see if you like to tour castles.

Very unique hotel that is a few different properties. We stayed in a room off the main hotel they was right next to the outdoor bar. Thankfully the live music stops at 7:30pm because it was very loud and even rattled the room. Highly recommend paying a little extra for the breakfast. The food was amazing. You can choose from a small buffet as well as a few breakfast meal options that were delicious. Unfortunately we didn’t get to ear dinner in their restaurant, but we heard great things about it. The room was very clean and very comfortable. Great use of space.

Excellent stay for 2 nights as a base to mooch about, eat tasty foods, drink and relax. Staff were brilliant and super friendly, and a nod the manager too for being very observant and attentive (to needs we didn’t know we had!). Nice and warm and creaky where you’d expect it. Shower was a disappointing dribble (always annoys me), but the separate jacuzzi bath was great. Dining was excellent, no faults, delicious and assuming mostly local produce, especially the seafood, mostly Loch Fyne which you are looking at! Local walks up to Dùn na Cuaiche well worth it if the weather’s fine (or Fyne!). Great base to explore the rest of the West if you want to, or just chill if you need to (we did, and we did!).

The George was very charming. Very nice location. Great restaurant and bar. Only problems. The bathroom and room looked like it had not been occupied in a while. Bugs on the bathroom floor and room smelled dusty. The was a power outage due to a storm. They staff tried to do their best. No WiFi either. So bummer but some things can’t be helped.

We’ve been coming to the George for over 10 years but sadly we won’t be back. We stayed in a Masters room that is extremely dated. The bright green bath is ancient and the taps are rusted. A new shower and WC have been installed but they are white! The mirrors were dusty, curtains hanging off the pole, threadbare carpets and an old wardrobe which doesn’t close. The dining room was very dirty and the mirrors haven’t seen a duster in months. One set of serving tongs on the buffet table fit meats, cheese, bread etc! The breakfast was disgusting. Scrambled egg looked like a mashed up omelette with grease oozing from it. Such a shame as it was always a great wee place. Don’t even get me started on the prices !

On entering our room we initially were very impressed. The size and the roll top bath looked very good but then on closer inspection things weren’t quite what they seemed. Every chair or settee was stained and/or torn, and the whole apartment needed considerable updating. On the plus side, the location was lovely, although parking could at times be a bit problematic, and staff were all very helpful and attentive.

We came here for a ‘Minimoon’ after getting married and our meal in the restaurant was better than our wedding breakfast! They also treated us to a lovely upgrade which was so appreciated! Can’t wait to come back!

An ancient coaching inn, so very quirky, but exceptionally comfortable. Quite a climb up twisty stairs to Room 21, but OK for overnight stay. Room and bathroom spacious and spotless. Reception and bar staff friendly and helpful. Waiting staff at breakfast less so. Rather limited self serve choices, including fetching your own crockery! cooked breakfast very good. Accommodation good value for cost, breakfast not so much. But overall a good experience.

Hands down our favorite hotel from the entire Scotland trip! Gorgeous rooms, all different in decor and style to make it unique and memorable. The bathrooms were newer than you’d expect, and with a massive claw foot tub in ours! Beds were so cozy too. Will absolutely be back!!

The place is adorable and charming. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The only complaint is that the bed was not very comfortable... maybe an old mattress? Quite lumpy and saggy.

Accommodation lovely, food excellent, staff friendly. Unfortunately our stay was marred by the fact that we were kept awake until 3.30am by music and chatter and laughter below us. We were in room 11. However, after speaking to a member of staff on reception in the morning, she kindly compensated us by voiding our bill from our meal the previous night which we found acceptable. We would stay again but avoid room 11 😂.

The location in on the historic high street can’t be beaten and it’s ideal for looking around the town, the staff gave us a warm reception on arrival and the room and bathroom was well appointed and comfortable. We had a few issues namely there seemed to be staff accommodation above us and we were kept awake by Banging and crashing all night until the sound of an empty bottle falling over things went quiet around 3:30am. The service in the restaurant needs a little more attention with our drinks arriving well into the meal, the food was fine but not outstanding, my plate so small they had to pile everything in a tower to get it on, breakfast service again was rather lacklustre. I would stay again but perhaps try elsewhere for food. The hotel seems to be dog friendly as we heard next doors animal barking all evening until the owners returned from the bar late on.

Absolutely loved our stay, and we’re so happy with our room. The bar and restaurant staff were super friendly and helped us enjoy the wide selection of drinks at the bar and a lovely dinner at the restaurant. Would absolutely recommend the food, and would urge you to stay!
Absolutely loved our stay, and we’re so happy with our room. The bar and restaurant staff were super friendly and helped us enjoy the wide selection of drinks at the bar and a lovely dinner at the restaurant. Would absolutely recommend the food, and would urge you to stay!

What a fabulous hotel! We loved everything about it. The room was excellent, clean and the staff were professional and welcoming. We arrived early (flew from Canada that morning) and the wonderful reception lady checked us in! I cannot say enough about that made our day after a long flight overseas! The restaurant in the hotel served a delicious dinner, then breakfast in a super beautiful dining room full of charm and character! We absolutely loved our time at the George Hotel! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will happily return!

Accommodation lovely, food excellent, staff friendly. Unfortunately our stay was marred by the fact that we were kept awake until 3.30am by music and chatter and laughter below us. We were in room 11. However, after speaking to a member of staff on reception in the morning, she kindly compensated us by voiding our bill from our meal the previous night which we found acceptable. We would stay again but avoid room 11 😂.

Excellent stay for 2 nights as a base to mooch about, eat tasty foods, drink and relax. Staff were brilliant and super friendly, and a nod the manager too for being very observant and attentive (to needs we didn’t know we had!). Nice and warm and creaky where you’d expect it. Shower was a disappointing dribble (always annoys me), but the separate jacuzzi bath was great. Dining was excellent, no faults, delicious and assuming mostly local produce, especially the seafood, mostly Loch Fyne which you are looking at! Local walks up to Dùn na Cuaiche well worth it if the weather’s fine (or Fyne!). Great base to explore the rest of the West if you want to, or just chill if you need to (we did, and we did!).

The staff at the bar restaurant were rude not allowing us to seat at the bar for a drink unless we were having dinner there … it was thanks to the skill and kindness of receptionist Ruth that finally we got it… the place has great atmosphere but it is not matched by the whole look of it , like no owner is looking after it any longer. The recepionists were extremely kind at the accueil.

This property is 160 years old so you have to expect that not everything will be great. There is a small parking lot which was full. Your parking choices are on the street or at a historic jail which is in back of the hotel. There is no elevator. Our room was spacious with a king bed and a sofa and chair. The bathroom was very large with a jacuzzi tub and shower. It is located in a very small village which closes down around 5 so there was little noise at night. Breakfast was included and it was wonderful. Inveraray Castle is 5 minutes away and a must see if you like to tour castles.

My first visit to The George Hotel was in 1995, during my very first time in Scotland. On subsequent trips I always made it a point to come to Inverary to have an evening in the tavern, which is a wonderful experience, but had never spent the night. The room was very well-appointed and comfortable, and breakfast the next morning was very good indeed. Such a good location as well for it is only an hour or so from Glasgow, and the scenery on the way is truly beautiful. Already planning our next visit! Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

The minute we walked in there was a buzz about the hotel, not noisy, but a lively vibe. The staff were all really friendly and appeared happy in their jobs. The room was large with chairs to sit on and well laid out. When we booked they recommended we book for the restaurant which we had done and were pleased we did as it was full, and again a very nice vibe. The food was lovely. In the bar next to the restaurant there was a good live band after dinner, with plenty of people listening to them. Breakfast was self service buffet of cold food, then a good selection of freshly cooked hot options from the menu. Overall a lovely hotel, well recommended.

Beautiful hotel, so clean and wonderful room with stunning views. All staff smiled and gave impeccable customer service also. We came here for a ‘Minimoon’ after getting married and our meal in the restaurant was better than our wedding breakfast! They also treated us to a lovely upgrade which was so appreciated! Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely 1-night stay at The George on our Scotland road trip. Very friendly and helpful staff. The Loch Fyne langoustines for dinner were amazing. Breakfast was also very good, and obviously cooked fresh for each order. Would have happily stayed longer!

The Hotel was probably one of the oldest we have ever stayed at. Considering this we found everything to work adequately. The hot and cold taps in the en-suite were not per the usual, the hot tap being on the lhs? The shower head had little flow and took a little bit of twiddling to get to an adequate temperature. The food was quite expensive and did not live up to the cost.

Warm, historical feel at this property. Restaurant was excellent, easily accommodated GF diet. Room was the most spacious we had in three weeks of road tripping. We were warned of the live music on Saturday nights but even with the window cracked, we couldn’t hear it. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

The location in on the historic high street can’t be beaten and it’s ideal for looking around the town, the staff gave us a warm reception on arrival and the room and bathroom was well appointed and comfortable. We had a few issues namely there seemed to be staff accommodation above us and we were kept awake by Banging and crashing all night until the sound of an empty bottle falling over things went quiet around 3:30am. The service in the restaurant needs a little more attention with our drinks arriving well into the meal, the food was fine but not outstanding, my plate so small they had to pile everything in a tower to get it on, breakfast service again was rather lacklustre. I would stay again but perhaps try elsewhere for food. The hotel seems to be dog friendly as we heard next doors animal barking all evening until the owners returned from the bar late on.

What a picture perfect example of a classic hotel and pub in the UK. They have a great staff who were super friendly and helpful with questions about the local area. The food was outstanding and the bar - simply amazing even just to look at. Whenever we go back to Scotland we definitely plan to stay at The George again. We were in Scotland for two weeks and this was our favorite property to perfectly fit the Scottish experience.
