Excellent, modern. Great restaurant and bar

Positives: The room was clean and comfortable. The shower head/wand combo was nice. The attached gallery and miscellaneous pieces throughout were beautiful and a major plus. Everything was clean and seemed to be well maintained. Very good location with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Parking in the garage next door (though this isn't free). I don't travel a ton, so maybe this isn't a big deal, but the TV having Max for free and being able to log in to Netflix was nice for when we were just hanging out in the room. I didn't get anything from the restaurant or bar, but it looked good and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Negatives: As mentioned, parking isn't free - it's $19 per day. But the biggest issue for me was the bathroom. First of all, the shower was separated from the main area by frosted glass that still allowed a lot to be seen. I was with my wife, so this was not that big a deal, but if I was with a friend or co-worker or something it could have been very awkward. Second, the bathroom door was a sliding barn door, and there was no fan. So even the slightest noise was very audible, which again could be very uncomfortable. I don't particularly like to be heard in the bathroom. The walls in general were pretty thin - we could definitely hear another couple either above us or on one of the sides. Not sure which direction, but it was noticeable.

The best hotel in the region with the best restaurant

This is a delightful boutique hotel in a good location. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is A lively bar and very good restaurant in the hotel. A bonus is the two story glass museum with a unique collection. We’d stay again on a future visit to Norfolk.

Very cool hotel. Right next to all the Norfolk sights/sites like the historic Cannonball green path and Freemason street. Excellent restaurants and stores nearby. And the hotel restaurant is really not your usual hotel restaurant but really top flight. Also very helpful and understanding staff.

Elevators were not working - or course not the fault of the hotel itself - just a bummer being on the 6th floor! No blanket on the bed, only two sheets. It was a rainy, chilly weekend.

Only one elevator was working all weekend. No one came to fix it!

They mixed up the reservation and put us in my sister in laws room. I went down to fix it and they said I needed to physically move into the other room. The toilet did not flush. They fixed it and then it broke again. We moved to the correct room and housekeeping never came. The bed was never made, the floor was never vacuumed, the the toilet paper holder was broken and on the floor.

The hotel as a whole is gorgeous & the front desk staff was curteous & efficient. However, there were some poorly performed repairs in the bathroom (obvious water damage), our double room had only one robe, and the bottles of shampoo, conditioner, & body wash in the shower were all completely empty. These are all minor details, but they are the sort of details elevate a guest experience to the level the hotel professes to offer. All in all, our stay was satisfying, but for the expense I'll book elsewhere next time we're in Norfolk.

The property is quite beautiful from the interior design to the architecture to the elements in the room. The art gallery is spectacular. The staff seemed to be doing their best but were obviously overwhelmed. The housekeeping was spotty. Clean enough, but there wasn't enough toilet paper in the room and I had to go downstairs to ask for more because no one answered the guest services phone. On the first night, when I opened a bottle of wine from the mini-bar, it seemed to not be sealed, and when I tasted it, the liquid inside had either been watered down or replaced with something else. I took it downstairs and the person at the desk apologized and offered to replace it, but this took more than an hour. He then offered to take the cost off the bill, but when I received the bill via email, the charge was there.

Classy hotel. Decor was amazing but needed to be dusted. The deadbolt did not work in the first room I had so they moved my room as requested. No complaints. Relaxing stay. Convenient location.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights, staff was kind and friendly room was clean, but my husband needed to work from the room and there was no work area. The hotel is more setup for design than function, and there was no table, only rocking chairs to sit in, and a low lamp in the middle of the room we kept hitting our head on. All the surfaces were messy with a coffee machine, snacks to buy and a art book so no good surfaces to keep things on. There was only a small wardrobe and the drawers were small. Just not a functional place we would ever return to or recommend for anyone.

Everything was wonderful except the bed was really firm so my husband and I both couldn’t sleep well and woke up with sore backs unfortunately. That and the AC shutting off, making the room very warm overnight added to the discomfort. Everything else was a dream!

Beautiful! We had a wonderful and very relaxing stay. Gorgeous view of the harbor, and lovely art gallery next door. Illy coffee was an added bonus. Thank you for a much needed respite!

Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown Norfolk. Easy walk to great restaurants. Rooms very spacious and the shower is huge! Would definitely stay there again.

Great visual design but not great if you need to work from the hotel as there is no proper desk area with a proper chair. Better if you are traveling for fun.

For the price of this room, it was really nothing special. I booked a King room 4 months ago and was bumped to a 2 Queens because they "over booked the Kings." Location of the hotel was excellent. The sink was neat with a built in night light, but it did not drain well at all. Sink water flow was really slow. There was no extra facial tissue or toilet paper. Ice had to be ordered from housekeeping. The view was rooftops. Storage was rather small for the room. Wifi did not reach our room. Drinks at the bar were rather expensive. But most offputting was the general feel from the front desk staff. It was not what I would expect from this brand. I doubt that I would stay at this property again.

Great stay at the Glass Light Hotel. This was our first stay at the Glass Light Hotel in Norfolk, Virginia. Great location, easy walk to plenty of museums, dining + drinks, etc. Staff was excellent, rooms are big and well pointed with large walk-in showers. Highly recommend!!!!

Check in was delayed by 45 minutes and front desk was not nice about it, refused to escalate the situation or offer different options, and told me to just deal with the inconvenience. However, executive housekeeping lady was so nice, property was very clean and spacious, and neighborhood was so cute.

I stayed at the Glass Light Hotel and Gallery and it was truly phenomenal. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the staff was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere made the entire stay memorable. I can’t wait to come back again!

Glass Light… where do I begin. Before I even arrived at the hotel, a huge red flag popped up. I came in from Philadelphia, I have never been to Norfolk in my life. When I arrived it was around 930pm and raining buckets. I called the front desk to obtain a landmarks near the hotel because my Uber driver could not find the hotel at all. I asked the front desk attendant was there a federal building near the hotel. She responded “Yes, there are several federal buildings in our area”. I asked, can I have a name of the one Glass Light, she just didn’t answer my question. I hung up, with literal steam rising for my head. My Uber driver and I drove around for another 10 to 15 minutes and I just got out and walked in until I was able to find the hotel. So, this hotel does not have self service ice machines or stocked ice bags in common areas for guests to grab at their convenience. Therefore, the procedure is the request given a bucket of ice at the front desk or a bucket of ice is bought to the room. Everything was going smoothly when they were mailed at the front desk. On my second or third morning there I walked into the lobby after exercising and asked a female front desk attendant for a bucket of ice. She looked me dead’s in my eyes and stayed, “Do you need that now or can someone bring it up to your room?” I was taken back by her response and I said bring it up to my room. My eyes never came in the attendant told me to walk back to the kitchen and ask someone for it.

Rooms were not ready when we arrived. We had to wait 3 hours until 7pm before getting into a room. Many others were waiting and only after complaining several time some got vouchers for the bar or a deduction on the room. No compensation was offered as a service.

The staff here was phenomenal. Very kind, helpful, and professional. Went above and beyond. I would definitely recommend staying here!

I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel. We received top notch guest service desk experience and awesome valet service. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, very spacious and great views. Restaurants and shopping within walking distance with beautiful surroundings. 10/10

I was un-able to check in - never made it into the lobby. It's not that I didn't want to check in, I couldn't. The only parking at the front was for valet. I drive a top end, high performance, sports car and NEVER use valet parking, anywhere, ever. I drove around the side of the hotel and found the entrance to an unattached garage, entered, and although the hotel did have reserved parking there for guests, they were all taken by the general public as there was some event for Christmas happening near by (families with young children all over the very narrow streets). So, after driving through the entire 7 story parking garage, I was un-able to find even one open spot, a problem several other cars obviously had in front of me. After having to PAY to get our of a parking garage that I was unable to park in, I stopped and called the front desk and was told there was another public lot several blocks away. At that point I told the person at the front desk that I would NOT be staying there. Drove out of Norfolk to Franklin (45 min away) and got a different hotel for the night.

This is a beautiful hotel. We were in town for a Norfolk Tides game and the light rail line is a three minute walk from the hotel. Lots of amenities within walking distance.

Just a quick stopover for us on our way south but loved walking along the water, seeing the Navy ships and mermaid statues. Lots of places to eat near the hotel

This is my favorite hotel. Service and Curtis is the best!! It is clean and perfect. The restaurant is fabulous!!

Would highly recommend. Great kitchen, however much of what I ordered was too salty. The hamachi crude and the veloute were excellent. Top notch bar.

We love coming to the glass house. The rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast is always good but understaffed today. It took 1.5 hrs to get food. No hot coffee refills due to the guy had all the tables to himself. We went up front to pay . I did ask ahead of time for a corner room but they were unable to accommodate. We will still continue to use this hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel. At three years young, the interior design if fresh and modern. There is a glass light museum attached to the hotel that is well worth a 30-minute tour. Front desk associates will validate your parking ticket from an adjoining covered parking facility. Employees wear masks. Breakfast options are spectacular. Be sure to taste the pancakes with ricotta cheese and candied walnuts. OMGosh delicious. This facility is associated with Marriott Hotels.

What a fun and fabulous stay! Staff was so awesome!!!! They appear to love their job. Restaurant served the best meal of my life. TRULY.

My second time staying at this beautiful property and just as great as the first time. Great downtown location near everything and I love the Lavazza coffee in the rooms. The beds are on the firm side but not uncomfortable. Also the bar has the best Old Fashioneds. I will definitely be back again.
