Cool property, very safe with cams and code-locked door. No issues with noise, had a pretty quiet peaceful stay. Good parking situation, that’s something I was worried about but we never had problems parking. Unit is very close to transit lines. My girlfriend and I were out walking very late and never felt unsafe in this area.

I liked the shared space idea with keys to the rooms. This was our first time in a shared space and it was not a problem at all. Very unique but fun experience.

The room was clean and cute. It had a comfortable bed and a desk and that’s all we really needed. The area was fairly quiet and a great location to catch a bus or take a quick drive to the parts of city we visited (The Loop and Hyde Park). We had access to street parking directly in front of the property. The shared common areas were a fun aesthetic and very tidy. Online communication with the property managers was timely and direct. We definitely enjoyed our brief stay :)

The Description on Hotels.com should have noted that this is more of a Hostel with group sharing of bathrooms and a $300 deposit to be paid via Zelle. We did not discover either component until we made a non-refundable one night payment. At our age (early 70s), sharing a bathroom with strangers was a no-go. We stayed elsewhere and swallowed the loss. But this experience left us very skeptical about any future bookings we'll do with Hotels.com. These two elements should have been front and center on the Hotels.com website, not buried 30-40 items deep in the customer reviews.

So, here’s the deal. The place is essentially a youth hostel which would’ve been fine if I were a youth….loll! Otherwise, it’s not bad at all.

Villa Dubois is just 10 minutes from UChicago Hospital, which was the reason for our two day stay. Easy access, super clean, comfortable, safe and secure. There is a full kitchen with all the necessary items and a comfortable dining and relaxing area for reading or television viewing. We were the only guests on the ground floor of the three available rooms that share the common space. This is a guest house and not a full service hotel. Look at the amenities that are provided so you have no surprises. Be sure you bring your own personal items such as shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Very tidy and clean. There is no front desk but the self check in is easy. Be sure to know the procedure before you arrive. I forgot to contact them 24 hrs before arrival to be prepared for the checkin. They were very accommodating and got me all the information I needed via email and text in a very short time. Very easy to access your own personal entrance. Great value for the budget conscious.

the guest house is no of a series of attached houses. the room was spartan. no soap, or any other amenity. the shower door would not stay closed. the room was clean and roomy. the owners, nor anyone else to talk to , are not there. they are remotely handing the place. because of this they send the lock information the day before they stay. would have liked to know this earlier.

I was expecting an email with specify arrival instructions, but that did not happen until I called. We made it work for us, but it wasn't exactly what we expected.

Luckily the owners responded really quickly when telling them.about the rotten produce left behind. All in all it worked for the night. Would be great for a group to rent each room, commons are nice but awkward for strangers.

The outer and inside of the property was clesn and accommodating. What I didn't like was going thru a third party and checking in wasnt comprehensive right off top. The other guest were very helpful and welcoming

I booked on hotels.com because I did NOT want an airBNB situation. Yet, an airbnb situation is exactly what I got. The pictures made the listing look like it was a boutique hotel - it is NOT. It's a very poorly done house, with no attention to details, no insulation, and the worst of each furnishing type. When I arrived, there was a number on the door to text - it was cold and rainy. I waited 10 minutes and got no reply, so I called and they gave me information that should have been emailed with the listing. Had that been done, I'd have already known what I was getting, and I would have canceled the listing and gone somewhere else. The furniture in the living room was stained and not in good condition. It all reeked of cleaning products, and not in a good way. The doors were flimsy and if I were a younger person, I would not have felt at all safe staying there. You could hear EVERYTHING though the walls. At first, I thought other guests were being loud, but they’re not. I heard them unzipping luggage! I heard them using the restroom - not just a flush sound either. YIKES. They sent me an email I saw on the last day after checkout telling me I had to take me shoes off to enter the property - sorry, but absolutely not. Get a door mat! This is beyond wild. I wish there had known what this was, and had checked reviews first. People are not being unreasonable here - every review 100% checks out in the few hours I’ve been here. Avoid this place at all costs.

It’s basically a house line air bnb. Middle floor with 3 rooms for different guests. My bedroom at first appeared fine until I lifted the blanket and found dirt and blood stain on the sheet. The floor was incredibly dirty. Very little amenities. Creaky floors and no level of comfort at all. It felt like a old hostel for back packers. Kitchen was poorly furnished and cabinets were disorganized and filty

I’m not going to list everything- 1. Not quiet, other guests tromping around after midnight 1st night, walls seem like they are paper thin- you can hear everything. 2. Toilet in Rm 203- I had to use the plumber’s helper multiple times- finally gave up. Refilled reservoir twice- nothing helped- sorry for leaving that mess. 3. Mattress was like sleeping on a sack of potatoes. 4. Would it hurt to provide a simple wash cloth?

I was in Chicago for a trade show at McCormick Place. It was close by so catching a Lyft of Uber was easy and affordable. The neighborhood feels safe, although it is a little older, you still don't feel unsafe there. It is very quiet. For me, there was no issue with sharing the bathroom or having other people there. No shoes worn in the home also was fantastic because not only did it cut down on the mess it also makes it quieter. The pillows are great and the bed is comfortable.

The room I was given was on the third floor. Building entry vestibule for second and third floors is small but manageable if you don't have much luggage. The room itself is a good size. The location is great for events at McCormick place, a short walk from a major bus route. The lightrail is easy to reach by walking or a short bus ride to the White Sox baseball stadium.

Nice residence but the mattress wasn’t of good quality.

This was easily one of the worse experiences I've ever had with a hotel/ guest house. I had an issue with a flight so I paid for a room with a private bathroom an hour before I arrived. Upon entry there was an entire family there smoking and being extremely loud. I asked where was the room I paid to stay in and the family informed me they just took the room. When I contacted property manager and they asked me to receive the names of the other tenets (pretty dangerous given these people were strangers and it was 4 of them and just me.) I told the property manager that I was uncomfortable and was leaving the property to book a hotel somewhere else. They REFUSED to give me a refund even though I left roughly an hour after I arrived. Expedia called them and they still rufused refund. This place is money hungry, unsafe, and very unhelpful. They do not have secured locks on the room to protect the space you paid for. Please NEVER book here.

The property was clean and well maintained. But if you happen to lock your key in your room, they will charge you $50 to give you directions on how to go downstairs to get another key.
