The Red Lion Hotel

I was displaced from staying at Stratford due to a European Game at the Stadium. This room was nearer where I wanted to go, brilliant comfy on a great high street of shops near the tube. The mini fridge had chilled water, there was a nespresso and a huge amount of pillows. Far better than the big chains… excellent. Turkish breakfast up the road and a great cake shop next door

Air con didn’t work in one of the bedrooms and had to leave to find somewhere else to stay. A shame as otherwise the hotel was nice. It was the hottest day recorded in London so in fairness it was hard for aircon anywhere!

We only spent 1 night here so it was very brief - however…..our room was beautiful (Mary on the top floor) and well appreciated after the previous 2 nights spent in another property! We were there during the heatwave and despite our room being amazing unfortunately it was like an oven. No air-con so a large fan was provided but it barely took the edge off. I’ve never had such a hot nights sleep in my whole life - almost unbearable and needed frequent trips to the bathroom to wet flannels to lay all over me! Being on the top floor probably heightened the heat as well. Not sure what the answer is but something needs to be improved for situations like this again. Only other whinge is that the WiFi wasn’t working - just kept saying ERROR. Moaning aside, this was a beautiful property in a nice little area and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Exceeded expectations, comfortable, good area, very nice coffee!

What a fantastic find this was ! Next to the tube so easy to get to theatre and King’s Cross station. The pub is huge, taking the bottom floor with a mixture of indoor and outdoor bars. We were in the Charles room on the third floor. We had kettle and coffee machine, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, windows that opened and an extremely quiet fan, tv with every channel available. The bed was a king and extremely comfy Plug sockets and usb and usb c ports next to the bed. Our first day was a rush as we had theatre tickets but the following day we didn’t move. We stayed in Leytonstone and the pub. We hadn’t realised but they offer entertainment each evening in the pub. Friday was “drag bingo “. What a brilliant night we had. We had an evening meal there before playing bingo. The food was brilliant. Highly recommend the focaccia with feta and sun-dried tomatoes and the battered haddock. The chips were sooo good ! Plus as a resident you get 20% off food and drinks purchased as the bar. Staff were so friendly and kind and we would stay here again without hesitation. Highly recommended.
