The Esquire Hotel Downtown Gastonia, an Ascend Collection Hotel

My room was so hot when I arrived, probably 80+ degrees. I turned the AC as far down as it could go to 64 and put the fan on high and closed all the blackout curtains but several hours later, it was still at least 73 degrees in the room.

Cute boutique hotel in what was originally an art deco bank building. I loved the hardwood floors, art deco bedside sconce, antique security glass in the window and bathroom tile in my room. I booked the smallest type of room and it was indeed small, but it was plenty of room for me. Room amenities include a Keurig machine and small fridge. There’s no closet but there is a luggage rack and places to hang a few pieces of clothing. Free parking is in the lot next to the hotel. Webb Custom Kitchen is just a 5 minute walk. There are several other bars, restaurants and convenience stores right nearby as well. Be sure to check out the view from the rooftop lounge at sunset!

Lovely historic building with a great restaurant and patio area and a roof top area. Friendly staff - clean and comfy rooms. Nice location and easy parking. Would definitely stay again.

Small rooms converted bank building. No breakfast offered or available on site. General area of hotel is littered with empty business. We stayed as it was walking distance to an upscale dinner venue. Otherwise it offers very little.
