Lovely old inn, very charming, nice clean room, we stayed in the double deluxe room, bed was incredible comfortable. Car park on site a plus, staff were very welcoming.

Unfortunately even though its a pub the bar was closed before 9pm. The room was very tired with creaky floors. Impossible to get up in the night and not wake your bed mate. Water went cold whilst having a shower. Won't visit again!

Cant fault the manager's or staff 10/10 for service and friendliness. The bar areas were clean and had character with the odd bit of quirkiness thrown in. We had two breakfasts and evening meals. Both had great choices and were a few notches up on the usual pub grub. Quality local produce, cooked and presented well. There is a chef in the kitchen. Unfortunately the accommodation wasn,t up to the same standard. The room was spacious and clean but the quality of the furniture was very poor. The en-suite was tiny with a very small hand basin with a glass shelf above so that you can crack your head on when attempting to lean over the basin. If the other rooms was the same as ours i would suggest some investment is required to bring it up to reasonable standards. Would i stay there again ?....Yes, when refurbishment has been carried out

Good onsite parking within a very short walk to Battle high street and abbey but unfortunately the abbey park grounds were closed but none the less had a lovely pre Christmas one night stay at the Chequers, the food was of good quality both evening and breakfast, staff friendly and helpful, the room spacious and mattress very comfortable but could all do with refreshing but bear in mind it is a very old Inn circa 1478 but what is really needed are blackout blinds on the windows as our room was street side and despite comfortable mattress the constant street lights and frequent headlights made room bright and not conducive to sleep maybe pick a rear room next time.

On arrival we were booked in, then told the place was closing at 6 that day and the following day due to staffing issues. We were the only ones there and were looking forward to a nice relaxing evening just sitting in the pub and having dinner as we'd had a long day. As it was we had to go out for something to eat and drink and, buy our own drinks for the evenings. They should have pre warned us of this as we could have looked for somewhere else to stay as this was a break for our wedding anniversary. No atmosphere, no people around. On the Wednesday service resumed as normal but that was half of our break away gone. Breakfasts were lovely as were the dinners we had on our last couple of days. The gardens were unkempt with dead plants and trees and broken pots. Staff were friendly and apologetic but we had paid for a service that for 2 days we didn't receive. We were very disappointed.

The property is well located, on a main road,with its own car park. Everything was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and attentive. Good choice of breakfast options. However, standard tea or or coffee could have vlbeen included in the breakfast options for the price paid. we booked the hotel rooms as we were attending a wedding locally. The inn is full of character and well placed to explore the town centre which is amazing. The inn only has 4/5 rooms so we occupied the whole hotel. check in was ok we had to pay before we went upstairs to our rooms. On reflection we may of moved on elsewhere I think I had the best room of the lot but the shower was so hot I was unable to get any cold water to cool it down on the day we left so had to have a strip wash it was 30 degrees outside. The cleanliness of the room was poor and it looked tired. The tea and coffee provision was good with fresh ground coffee available would I stay again sadly not my friends had issues with the cleanliness of their rooms with used make up wipes, earings and fake eylashes laid around the room it was generally very scruffy and unclean. We ate in the inn and the food was poor wished we had gone into the town to eat out

The room was clean and tidy. although facing a busy road and I am used to a quiet environment there was little traffic noise due to the secondary double glazing. This is an extremely old building and the room and its location reflected that.

Lovely old pub in Battle with great food. I have stayed here before with no problems. My room this time - room 4 was not the best. I am 6’ tall and the bathroom ceiling was so low that I couldn’t stand up in it. This made showering particularly difficult. I would stay here again but not in this room

The room did NOT have a king bed as advertised on the Orbitz listing. And read the small print as there was no shower just a bathtub with a handheld faucet, water sprays everywhere. Staff was great. Breakfast and lunch in the restaurant were delicious

Rooms are reasonably priced. Bear in mind rooms are adjacent to a busy road so open windows is not an option. Not noisy though. Both evening meals were excellent & staff - Chris the chef, Evie & Sue - were great.

The WiFi did not work, the room needs to come with a warning about the uneven floor and not suitable for people not steady on there feet, needs a new mattress on the bed very lumpy not good night's sleep

Wouldn’t go back again. Only 4 rooms yet we were in room 5? Clearly marked as private so suspect we were put in a staff room. Floor so uneven that we had to sleep with our feet on the headboard end as our feet were above our head otherwise. Shower pretty much did what it wanted and was so small that I had to kneel down to have a shower or my head was against the ceiling ( I’m 6ft). Sink in kitchen area tap was falling out the sink and hot water didn’t even work. The floor boards were all loose and creaked and moved you walked round the room. Please read the other comments. It looks like room 4 is not much better

Stayed at Chequers Inn, Battle, for three nights and we were very happy with the Inn and its location. We had a very comfortable stay and the staff were friendly. Would stay again if I was in Battle. About equal distance from the railway station and the town centre.

Generally positive except for one member of staff who has just no idea of hospitality . unhelpful to the point of rudeness. Also difficult to use shower as I have mobility issues and climbing into and out of bathtub was very problematic.

We were the only ones there and were looking forward to a nice relaxing evening just sitting in the pub and having dinner as we'd had a long day. As it was we had to go out for something to eat and drink and, buy our own drinks for the evenings. They should have pre warned us of this as we could have looked for somewhere else to stay as this was a break for our wedding anniversary. No atmosphere, no people around. On the Wednesday service resumed as normal but that was half of our break away gone. Breakfasts were lovely as were the dinners we had on our last couple of days. The gardens were unkempt with dead plants and trees and broken pots. Staff were friendly and apologetic but we had paid for a service that for 2 days we didn't receive. We were very disappointed.

The property is well located, on a main road,with its own car park. Everything was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and attentive. Good choice of breakfast options. However, standard tea or or coffee could have vlbeen included in the breakfast options for the price paid. On the negative side, my room was rather cold,as it was either easterly or northerly orientated. I had to request the heating to be put on arrivall. It aldo gives onto a rather busy road ,so the passing traffic woke me up acfew times during the night.

Despite being on a corner, the streets were quiet at night. All the staff I dealt with were smiling and helpful. Very easy to walk to castle and shops. Evening meal good and hot. If any fault to be mentioned it was that it was hard to know which way to turn on the hot water and which shower head. A note in the Information booklet would be helpful.

Stayed at Chequers Inn, Battle, for three nights and we were very happy with the Inn and its location. We had a very comfortable stay and the staff were friendly. Would stay again if I was in Battle. About equal distance from the railway station and the town centre.

Good onsite parking within a very short walk to Battle high street and abbey but unfortunately the abbey park grounds were closed but none the less had a lovely pre Christmas one night stay at the Chequers, the food was of good quality both evening and breakfast, staff friendly and helpful, the room spacious and mattress very comfortable but could all do with refreshing but bear in mind it is a very old Inn circa 1478 but what is really needed are blackout blinds on the windows as our room was street side and despite comfortable mattress the constant street lights and frequent headlights made room bright and not conducive to sleep maybe pick a rear room next time.

The room did NOT have a king bed as advertised on the Orbitz listing. And read the small print as there was no shower just a bathtub with a handheld faucet, water sprays everywhere. Staff was great. Breakfast and lunch in the restaurant were delicious

we booked the hotel rooms as we were attending a wedding locally. The inn is full of character and well placed to explore the town centre which is amazing. The inn only has 4/5 rooms so we occupied the whole hotel. check in was ok we had to pay before we went upstairs to our rooms. On reflection we may of moved on elsewhere I think I had the best room of the lot but the shower was so hot I was unable to get any cold water to cool it down on the day we left so had to have a strip wash it was 30 degrees outside. The cleanliness of the room was poor and it looked tired. The tea and coffee provision was good with fresh ground coffee available would I stay again sadly not my friends had issues with the cleanliness of their rooms with used make up wipes, earings and fake eylashes laid around the room it was generally very scruffy and unclean. We ate in the inn and the food was poor wished we had gone into the town to eat out

Rooms are reasonably priced. Bear in mind rooms are adjacent to a busy road so open windows is not an option. Not noisy though. Both evening meals were excellent & staff - Chris the chef, Evie & Sue - were great.

Cant fault the manager's or staff 10/10 for service and friendliness. The bar areas were clean and had character with the odd bit of quirkiness thrown in. We had two breakfasts and evening meals. Both had great choices and were a few notches up on the usual pub grub. Quality local produce, cooked and presented well. There is a chef in the kitchen. Unfortunately the accommodation wasn,t up to the same standard. The room was spacious and clean but the quality of the furniture was very poor. The en-suite was tiny with a very small hand basin with a glass shelf above so that you can crack your head on when attempting to lean over the basin. If the other rooms was the same as ours i would suggest some investment is required to bring it up to reasonable standards. Would i stay there again ?....Yes, when refurbishment has been carried out

Check in was quick and easy. Lady was very friendly and helpful. The Inn is around 500 yrs old so very quirky, but lovely. Very clean and tidy. We were in room 3, which was facing the main road - very noisy. Very small bathroom. Noisy macerator, no air con, but fans provided. Bed was OK, nothing great. Thought it was pricey for Bed only rate (£90). Breakfast was very pricey. Bowl of home made granola £9! A cooked breakfast (and I have to say small) £14! Would we stay again, probs not.

Booked a “luxury” room but wasn’t. Awkward access to room, standing on narrow stairs to open door. No wardrobe - just a hanging rack with 5 mis-matched hangers, no drawers, nowhere to put unpacked clothes. Only cupboard space full of maintenance equipment. Tap in the sink was loose and only connected to cold water - rectified by owner on complaint. Broken angle poise lamp - replaced on complaint. 24-hour security light outside window wasn’t blocked out by blind over window. Decor was a bit tired looking. Cleanliness in room was okay, cups were stained and coffee was awful. Pleased to say bed was very clean. Good to have parking onsite although there are serious potholes in the car park. Staff friendly and helpful.

The bed was comfortable and the bedding was lovely. The en-suite bathroom smelt of mould, was extremely tiny, as was the hand basin. Also the shower door kept jamming. The heating would not work, despite the temperature being only 15 degrees, although staff rectified very quickly. We lost Netfix and despite request, this was not rectified. On a more positive note, the food was lovely, the staff friendly and the pub was well located.
