This is a quaint place. The stairs are a little tricky with luggage but the room was delightful. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a great stay and we would definitely come back.

No parking available on day 1. I was told an email would be sent on the day of our arrival to give us instructions for accessing the room but never received it. Had to wait for someone to take us to the room and give me the passkey. Pub was very busy and noisy on our first night which kept us awake. Second night we didn’t hear anything in the pub. Breakfast was really good and the cooks were excellent at catering for my dairy and egg allergies. Bed mattress was not good.

A good place to stay when visiting Dover. Lots of people use it for the port. We used it to visit the castle and Battke of Britain memorial. Parking is a bit tight in the car park so we used the road. Breakfast is good and food options in the evening also good. Room has everything you need and is cosy.

The rooms were above a pub. There is no elevator and the stairs were steep. Once upstairs and in the room it was comfortable. The pub below served food for a cost. The food was very good. Breakfast was amazing.

We chose to stay at the Royal Oak prior to our cruise. The hotel is situated away from the city centre in a quiet residential area steeped in history a short cab ride or 40 min walk to town. The staff exceeded our expectations with their kindness and hospitality. The pub downstairs frequented by locals and travellers was a lot of fun to have a pint, meal and watch a football match. The room met our requirements only the unseasonably warm weather made it more challenging, thankfully a fan was provided in the room. Complimentary breakfast was the perfect way to start the day.

Room was clean and tidy and looked to have been recently renovated to a good standard. Nice big shower and lots of hot water, always the sign of a good hotel room. Plenty of nice fluffy towels, but lacking a towel rail next to the hand basin (a cheap and quick fix there). Bed was comfortable, however a nice bed topper would be a lovely touch. Room was missing a small waste bin, a couple of coat hooks on the hanging rail would be especially useful. (again a cheap and quick fix). Having twin USB points on both sides of the bed with twin 13amp sockets and good free Wfi was a nice touch. We had room 5 and from the little we saw of other rooms, I think it was the best one. As mentioned, we could not fault the cleanliness of the bedroom or the bathroom and towels and bedlinen perfect (well done there). one small niggle, the kettle and coffee maker were on one of the bedside tables and took up most of the table top. A small console table, like the one in the hallway with the visitors comments book on it, would have been great placed under the TV and the kettle etc could have been placed on there and a socket could have been taken from the TV supply socket above. Again a fairly small outlay for a big gain in the room. All the staff we met, were very friendly and always willing to do what they good to help, another reason our stay was so pleasant. The restaurant severed good pub food and good sized portions. There is also 2 EV charging points on site. Would I recommend, yes 100%

We were greeted with a big smile and enjoyed friendly service throughout our stay. Our room was clean, warm and very comfortable. Both our dinner and breakfast at Royal Oak were delicious and served with a smile :) I warmly welcome Royal Oak for any length of stay and will definitely visit again.

Nettes kleines Hotel mit angrenzenden Pub. Das Zimmer war sauber und hat alles für ein Paar Nächte geboten. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Hotel ist der perfekt Urlaubseinstieg nach der Fährüberfahrt.

We loved Royal Oak and the thoughtfully designed spaces. Our room was extremely clean and also had a very nice bathroom accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the area, Kearsney Gardens and quick train to Dover area. The pub was fun and great food. We felt like locals by partaking in the Easter trivia night!! We knew this ahead of time and had no issues, but for your planning purposes-- the rooms are on the second floor above the pub area. Breakfast was very generous servings and great food. Staff assisted us with travel advice. We hope to visit again in the future.

Really helpful and friendly staff. Prepared me a grab bag for breakfast as had to leave earlier than breakfast was served. My room was a little on the small side but was very beautifully presented. (And would be fine for any one of average hight and build. As I am over 6’5 and of large build.)

Arrived on a Tuesday to find the kitchen was closed but thankfully you could do me a Pizza. My room was lovely but would benefit from a new mattresses and a tv would be a welcome addition. None of the above detracts from it being a lively cosy little pub and i would happily stay again.

Ideal if you arrive in the UK late or are leaving the next morning. Entrance to room via a code given before arrival. Room very basic, but even my wife (who often complains about rooms being too small or uncomfortable) thought this a nice local hotel to stay. Pub below is a nice place to have dinner/breakfast. Personnel very friendly. We’ll go there again in the future

Very pleasant and helpful, we arrived earlier than the assigned check-in and Heidi was very helpful and let us leave our bags so we could venture out for the afternoon. Highly recommend, and also the pub down stairs.

Had a very enjoyable stay — the room was comfortable, and I slept well. The pub downstairs has a great vibe and friendly staff. I also really appreciated the helpfulness when I had some trouble getting into my room. Would definitely stay again!

Ideal if you arrive in the UK late or are leaving the next morning. Entrance to room via a code given before arrival. Room very basic, but even my wife (who often complains about rooms being too small or uncomfortable) thought this a nice local hotel to stay. Pub below is a nice place to have dinner/breakfast. Personnel very friendly. We’ll go there again in the future

Tuvimos que pasar una noche en Dover debido a la huelga en el Eurotúnel, y afortunadamente él buscador nos trajo a este sitio encantador. Ambiente cálido, hotel muy moderno, la habitación es pequeñita pero tiene todo lo necesario. Hay aparcamiento en la misma puerta, incluso con cargador para coches eléctricos, y la zona es muy bonita. Además, pudimos quedarnos a dormir con nuestra perrita. Absolutamente recomendable si no vas a estar más de una o dos noches.

A good place to stay when visiting Dover. Lots of people use it for the port. We used it to visit the castle and Battke of Britain memorial. Parking is a bit tight in the car park so we used the road. Breakfast is good and food options in the evening also good. Room has everything you need and is cosy.

We chose to stay at the Royal Oak prior to our cruise. The hotel is situated away from the city centre in a quiet residential area steeped in history a short cab ride or 40 min walk to town. The staff exceeded our expectations with their kindness and hospitality. The pub downstairs frequented by locals and travellers was a lot of fun to have a pint, meal and watch a football match. The room met our requirements only the unseasonably warm weather made it more challenging, thankfully a fan was provided in the room. Complimentary breakfast was the perfect way to start the day.

Nice location quiet out the way food is very reasonably priced. Breakfast is also nice. Wi-Fi is good free parking. The only thing for me is breakfast doesn’t start till eight and usually have to be at work by then apart from that no complaints.

We loved Royal Oak and the thoughtfully designed spaces. Our room was extremely clean and also had a very nice bathroom accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the area, Kearsney Gardens and quick train to Dover area. The pub was fun and great food. We felt like locals by partaking in the Easter trivia night!! We knew this ahead of time and had no issues, but for your planning purposes-- the rooms are on the second floor above the pub area. Breakfast was very generous servings and great food. Staff assisted us with travel advice. We hope to visit again in the future.

The location is the Hotel's biggest selling point as it is so close to the Dover Castle and the White Cliffs. The room was ok for a "base" but would not recommend it for a long stay. The food served was excellent.

Lovely little stop, shame no food was being served of an evening meant we had to drive out and find a decent pub which wasn't that easy. Room was lovely and clean mattress a little lumpy but good pillows. I did ask for a printed invoice as Hotels.com dont provide this with VAT which is a huge problem for business users. Places need to understand this and prepare VAT receipts also if you take one payment the receipt needs to be one not two.

The rooms were above a pub. There is no elevator and the stairs were steep. Once upstairs and in the room it was comfortable. The pub below served food for a cost. The food was very good. Breakfast was amazing.

Arrived on a Tuesday to find the kitchen was closed but thankfully you could do me a Pizza. My room was lovely but would benefit from a new mattresses and a tv would be a welcome addition. None of the above detracts from it being a lively cosy little pub and i would happily stay again.

Absolutely lovely place to stay very clean and welcoming. I just stayed one night but would definitely stay again if need be and would recommend. Excellent value for money.

The room was tiny and the sink was so small the water splashed over you onto the floor, I’m 5.2 and it was so low my back aches as does my husband’s who is 5.8.! Unable to open the window as it was very hot in the room, the fan was noisy! The staff were lovely but the breakfast was probably the worst I’ve had, cheap white bread no choice or healthy option, I had poached eggs which were hard and mushrooms about half a dozen which looked like tinned and were tasteless! Tea and coffee from a machine which was awful! Needless to say we didn’t have our breakfast yesterday before we left! Very disappointed as I had read reviews and booked and paid some time ago! I want to reiterate that we found the staff really lovely though
