Great little inn with excellent bar and restaurant on site. Parking is available on site. Very walkable to the town center, shopping and restaurants. Nice rooms.

Staff were nice and the hotel was ok but there’s not a lot going on in Axminster Also parking can be limited with the outside area of hotel sharing the same space

It isvery old building which adds to tis charm but makes access to first and second floors for over 8o's difficult. I probably would not have booked the stay had I know about the incredibly steep and narrow stairs to our room. The staff in the main were friendly and helpful

What an absolute gem. Lovely hotel well located and easy parking too. Great beer. The staff are excellent too they went out of their way for us.

Excellent central to the town good locatio Small car park. So limited spaces. But there is a town centre car park across the street, good fresh cooked breakfast. Bedrooms clean and fresh renovated, no big deal for me but if you need a lift, no lift! Stairs only

Where to start? Very friendly welcome from lovely lady. Room really clean but very small and stuffy (window opens a few inches but road noise awful). No WIFI which we asked about and were told it was being 'upgraded' and connection was 'fragile' so 'keep trying'. We tried for a couple of hours as we needed it due to there also being no phone signal. It didn't connect. Breakfast was a shambles. Choose from continental OR cooked but continental was missing advertised cheese and cooked meats. I asked if what was on the small table was the entire continental and was told 'yes, it's all there'. So I asked, if I choose a cooked breakfast, can I have a croissant, given that the continental had so little on it. Answer 'no, it's one or the other'. Hospitality at it's finest 🙄 Two types of croissant on offer. Burnt ones which appeared to be reheated from previous day and others which were lovely. They were the only 'bread' option on offer. Otherwise, cereal, juices, yogurts and apples so the poorest continental I have ever seen. Overall, this is a very overpriced hotel with little in the way of actual hospitality.

The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Our room and bathroom were very clean . Food served was great and atmosphere friendly. Our only issue was that the hotel is on a busy road and as the building is old it has sash windows with single glazing so road traffic noise was a problem to start with but that is something that cannot be helped.

Everything about our stay was excellent, including the location. One thing I particularly noticed was how thorough the staff were with the cleaning as we passed through the bar area for breakfast.

A historic hotel with lovely staff. The only downside was the previous occupant of the bedroom had left towels hanging behind a door and they didn’t get removed.

Really nice overnight stay, close to the train station. Clean and tidy room. Lovely breakfast to start the day. Staff were lovely and welcoming. One tiny bit of feedback no toilet brush! 😂

I loved my room and the tram weee great. However some of my party complained their rooms were cold. Also unfortunately on the night we stayed there was a big Christmas Party and it was very noisy. With all that being said I would stay at the George again because the staff were great.

When booking through Expedia i put in bank details which confirmed the booking. I was booking for staff members and on arrival they were told they needed to pay. Expedia doesn't make this clear that even though you give bank details payment is not taken at the time and you will need to pay at the hotel. Very frustrating when booking on behalf of others.

Car parking was good when we arrived with parking for about 8 cars. The hotel was very clean and decorated brilliantly for halloween. Check in went very smoothly and the room we were allocated was excellent and spotlessly clean. Facilities were good with tea, coffee and biscuits, more than most other hotels. The evening meal we had was excellent and the service was great. All in all a great stay and will go again if in the area.

Great little inn with excellent bar and restaurant on site. Parking is available on site. Very walkable to the town center, shopping and restaurants. Nice rooms.

Staff were nice and the hotel was ok but there’s not a lot going on in Axminster Also parking can be limited with the outside area of hotel sharing the same space

The hotel sits in a traffic island surrounded by narrow, busy roads on all sides which makes it tricky to access at times. I expected it to be noisy as it is a pub as well as a hotel but it was OK. There was a lot of seagull noise - they do not seem to sleep at night. Overall, it was a fairly good experience.

We enjoyed our stay at the George. Highlights were the staff, quality of breakfast and value for money. Our room was a little noisy due to traffic, which would be the only downside to our stay.

Everything about our stay was excellent, including the location. One thing I particularly noticed was how thorough the staff were with the cleaning as we passed through the bar area for breakfast.

Really nice overnight stay, close to the train station. Clean and tidy room. Lovely breakfast to start the day. Staff were lovely and welcoming. One tiny bit of feedback no toilet brush! 😂

Excellent central to the town good locatio Small car park. So limited spaces. But there is a town centre car park across the street, good fresh cooked breakfast. Bedrooms clean and fresh renovated, no big deal for me but if you need a lift, no lift! Stairs only

Where to start? Very friendly welcome from lovely lady. Room really clean but very small and stuffy (window opens a few inches but road noise awful). No WIFI which we asked about and were told it was being 'upgraded' and connection was 'fragile' so 'keep trying'. We tried for a couple of hours as we needed it due to there also being no phone signal. It didn't connect. Breakfast was a shambles. Choose from continental OR cooked but continental was missing advertised cheese and cooked meats. I asked if what was on the small table was the entire continental and was told 'yes, it's all there'. So I asked, if I choose a cooked breakfast, can I have a croissant, given that the continental had so little on it. Answer 'no, it's one or the other'. Hospitality at it's finest 🙄 Two types of croissant on offer. Burnt ones which appeared to be reheated from previous day and others which were lovely. They were the only 'bread' option on offer. Otherwise, cereal, juices, yogurts and apples so the poorest continental I have ever seen. Overall, this is a very overpriced hotel with little in the way of actual hospitality.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our stay was from Boxing Day and a few food items had run out but generally the breakfasts and the one evening meal we had were very good. A very narrow space to get pasr the bed end to the bathroom in our bedroom (104). Generally a very pleasant stay in a good location in the town and handy for nearby coastal towns. Nice to have oat milk available for breakfast.

Car parking was good when we arrived with parking for about 8 cars. The hotel was very clean and decorated brilliantly for halloween. Check in went very smoothly and the room we were allocated was excellent and spotlessly clean. Facilities were good with tea, coffee and biscuits, more than most other hotels. The evening meal we had was excellent and the service was great. All in all a great stay and will go again if in the area.

Had a lovely stay at The George Hotel in Axminster. The staff are very warm and welcoming, lovely decor and comfy room which was spotlessly clean. Enjoyed the Chicken Supreme and Orange Cheesecake for dinner and a very hearty breakfast.

We stayed here as a one night stop over on the way to St Ives. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was available. The King bed room was a good size and clean. The mattress and pillows could need replacing in the near future. Good choices for breakfast. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed on a Sunday evening but was given a great recommendation for an Italian place down the road.

Lovely room and great hospitality with good food. Sloping floors and stairs only in this old building but centrally situated close to the minster and independent shops -a wonderful bookshop and hardware store especially.
