Hyatt House Chicago Medical/University District

The hotel was lovely and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was VERY convenient for getting to the Rush Surgi-Center which was our purpose in being in Chicago. They provided free LYFT service to there and would have gotten us back had we needed it. Also, the parking is extremely convenient. We were there early enough to park in the lot immediately behind the hotel. There is a bar/restaurant, but the food menu is limited. We did eat there for convenience though. I thought my wings were very good. Also, very cool to look out and see the Black Hawks stadium (even though we are Blues fans).We would stay there again.

Overall a great stay and easy walk to the show at the United Center. At times the elevators were really backed up and very slow. Took me 20 minutes to get down to the car and back this morning from the 6th floor.

Very clean, beautiful hotel. Great workout facility! Breakfast was delicious.

No parking. Had to park in hospital parking deck. Giving a map and basically told to find my own parking. Giving a map instead of person at desk saying you can park in deck across the parking lot.

The parking was difficult. The parking spaces are too narrow, not leaving enough space to get out of your vehicle. There are not enough parking spaces for guests.

When I checked into my room it had not been cleaned - complete with dirty plates.

Room was unclean there was toothpaste in the shower. A bottle of spray sticking out from under the couch, some sort of toy and candy wrappers as well. Also there was dirty/muddy looking hand print streaks on the inside of the bathroom door. Hairs stuck to the wall by the bathroom sink and around. Sticky spot on the counter/dining table. Reception staff was very pleasant though.

The deep cleaning was not done. Windowsills, top of beds, microwave, mirror, shelving, was not dusted. I had to DUST properly due to asthma/ allergies. ALSO there was no COFFEE supplies . My in room phone did not work so I went down to front desk to ask for coffee supplies , which I NEVER received. We didn’t even have coffee cups !

The hotel was so clean and the staff were extremely friendly. You could not hear anyone in the room next to you or walking down the halls. It was very nice.

Room was not clean. Surface is not wiped, hair still on the floor in the bathroom, kitchen sink still had some kind of food in it.

Had ants all over the room floor when we came back from a night on the town. No good was left in the room but the ants took over. Not happy

When we arrived, the room that we paid for wasn't available.And they would not refund the difference in the rooms. When we arrive to our room, there was food in storage containers.Left in the refrigerator and a vape device beside the bed in the bedside table. When I called to ask them to come remove and clean. They said they would and a maintenance man walked into my room without knocking. And just took the food out of the fridge, did not clean it. Very disappointing.

Pleasant hotel. Front desk is accommodating and friendly. Upon arrival we were informed hot water was out. No estimate of when it might be fixed. We were comped parking, one meal and drinks. Breakfast was very good. By the end of the second night hot water was restored. The following morning as we packed to leave we noticed ants in the bathroom and kitchen. We reported it as we checked out.

The room was never cleaned during my 3-day stay. The noise from motorcycle races beneath my window made it impossible to sleep, but the staff refused to move me across the hall, because they said Hyatt House customers could not move because the property across the hall had different owners. Worst hotel stay I've had in more than ten years.

Great location for United Center and very clean/modern. However, the walls are paper thin. We couldn\'t sleep due to music and even talking in the room next to us. I let the front desk know and they just said, "they had heard that before".

The shower wasn’t good. Very little water pressure. Hallways were dusty. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the location.

We could hear the rooms next to us quite easily, especially the room that we had an adjoining door with, we could hear their conversations quite clearly and what they were watching on TV as well. Really a horrible experience when you dont know the people in the next room over, but can hear them as if they were in the same room as you.

Enjoyed my stay. Location was great! My only complaint was the window, it was located too high. I was not able to look out unless I was standing on something. I am not sure if all rooms are set up this way, hopefully not.

This hotel was one of the best places I've ever stayed. It was very peaceful and quiet with a helpful staff. The hallways are spacious and the rooms have cathedral ceilings. I would definitely recommend it.

Good size room with pull out couch. The tv and stand serves as a divider, but one big room. The Room was a bit dim. Needed more light. The phone did not work. Central located to many things in Chicago, but not really near anything in particular and no restaurants or stores are close. The Hotel is very attractive and historic.

This room was so freaking quaint I'm really sad we weren't able to have experienced more time in it. The view was nice even for being on the 6th floor. I was able to see Malcolm X College which was my destination the following morning. The room had a great scent, it was spacious with it's kitchenette and table top counter. I loved the way the tv could swivel to be watched either in bed or from the couch on the other side. The bathroom was incredibly spacious with a beautiful walk-in shower that was just as spacious. The entire suite had a variety of ways to lighten any area you were in. The king size bed was nice. I slept soundly until the alarm went off. The blinds did a great job of blocking out the city lights. The pillows were really soft yet they kept their shape. Now that's just magic! We'll be back for a longer stay without question!

We had a room for 6, two queens and a pull out sofa. The sofa only pulled out a twin and it was a very uncomfortable bed. Fortunately, the 6th person was a child so he was able to sleep on the chaise side of the sofa. Other than that it is a nice hotel and everyone was very helpful and kind.

We were staying at this hotel to be part of a conference and the hotel was oversold so they sent us downtown to a partner hotel. I don’t understand how they can do that!

Awesome experience overall. Second time staying here and it was so great. DJ checked us in and was so wonderful. He was bery personable and made it very easy. The room had a beautiful view of the city and was very close walk to the event we were going to. Would absolute recommend staying here

First room I was assigned was occupied. I walked in on a gentleman who was not expecting this. Front desk staff reacted to this by assigning me a different room. No apologies, however. They did offer me a free drink and snack. I said that an apology should go out to the person whose room I walked into.

I had paid for a 4-night stay (4/17-4/21) about a month ago. When I arrived, I was told that the hotel was overbooked and was sent to the Hyatt in the Loop area. I left the security deposit on my credit card ($75, which I haven't received back yet) and I went back to the hotel the next day. I was then told that the 1-bedroom suite that I requested wasn't available and I was placed in a studio (3 people) for the night. I was told that I would get 30% off of my stay for the inconvenience. And I have not received anything. Highly disappointed with the service & promises unkept by Hyatt.

I waited FOREVER (over 5 hours) for my room to be available and had to demand for a MANAGER to get it. No one offered me water!!! I watched other guests being offered right before my eyes…Lovely. I would highly NOT recommend this hotel. Poor customer service from staff (maybe that’s why they don’t wear name tags!) and quality was not great for a highly rated hotel. Don’t let the good reviews fool you!!!

Definitely needed more staff at front desk. Room wasn’t ready at the check in time. Had to wait 1/2 hour. Aside from that all was good.

There was only a sheet left on the pull out bed which was old when the bed was pulled out and unfolded. It had fake eyelashes stuck to the sheets. When I called the front desk to ask for new linens I was told that I need to come get them and change them myself because they only have one staff member working and they cannot leave the area. Additionally I called about parking in the morning and they told me it was $30 a day and just let them know when I got there. So I let them know when I got there the only problem was they said they were already sold out of parking and it was first come first serve. Something that was clearly not mentioned during my first call and there was no parking anywhere near close and it's not the safest of areas. Very bad Hotel and every single person I interacted with had horrible customer service. Do yourself a favor and never stay here

If was really accessible to the United Center! Then the Blue Line is about a 5 min walk to you can get anywhere. Definitely 10/10.

The hotel is close to 2 subway stations making it really easy and fast to get downtown. no worries about walking around at night. We walked to the United Center for a hockey game. It is in a safe area...The hotel has a good breakfast, is spacious and clean.

The hotel was very convenient located close to pink and blue line station. At night, the location is pretty quiet and could be unsafe to walk by yourself.

Very friendly staff. Good hot breakfast. Very clean. Easy to park and not expensive. Very large room with great amenities. Location is safe and quiet, but there isn't anything nearby except hospital. The hockey/basketball arena is walking distance. The train is also walking distance but is under maintenance so large portion is closed and you have to do a bus transfer.

My Sister and I have DEFINITELY placed Hyatt House Chicago/Medical District on the top of our Chicago places to stay!!! Everything from the room layout to the staff was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! We had to come to Chicago to be with our dad who is hospitalized at Cook County/John Stroger’s hospital, so we searched for places near. Hyatt House is literally across the parking lot from the hospital, so location wise was perfect. We entered our room which was VERY clean and spacious for two. There was plenty of storage space and a small kitchen area that included a sink and stove top. We are a little germ cautious so we usually bring our own cleaning supplies. We didn’t need to use them (we still ran a bleach wipe on the knob’s and toilet for peace of mind), this room was very clean. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They showed us how to get to the hospital, and when we came back they were very caring about how our visit went. The restaurant and bar on the 2nd floor are nice additions. You don’t have to just sit in your room if you don’t want to leave out. D.J you were one of our favorite parts of our stay if not our favorite part!!! He greeted us every time he saw us, he was attentive and helpful. We simply mentioned towels and he had them ready for us when we returned. He asked about our father’s health and his concern for our current mind state every time and it truly felt genuine. We are truly grateful for you and hope to see you out next stay!!

This is a great property choice for its close proximity to Rush Medical and United Center.

Terrible experience at Hyatt. The bar staff was unfriendly, and it was the only dining option, shutting down rudely at 9:30 PM. Breakfast was awful, overcrowded, and poorly managed. Staff overall was dismissive and unprofessional. I will never stay here again—absolutely not worth the hassle or the money.

The hotel was clean, staff was nice, and it was so easy to walk to the United Center! The breakfast was also very good!

Everything was great, except for two things: Firstly, when we booked the room in July, we were told that there was free parking. When we checked in, we were told that parking is $30 a day. Very very disappointing. The only other feature that could’ve made our stay better, is if there was a regular little restaurant with a standard menu of dining options, that was open for dinner. The food at the bar left a lot to be desired, and there was not a big selection either. For someone who needed to have vegan options, there were none to be found, and it wasn’t pleasant eating at a bar either. Nothing to do with the actual hotel, but there was no other place to eat or even get a cup of coffee in the immediate area that we could walk to either, which is why the hotel should consider having a little restaurant in the actual hotel! Driving into the city was difficult to say the least, and after a long, exhausting travel day, with just about no parking options in the city, we just wanted to sit, have a nice hot meal at the hotel and go to sleep.

Only thing negative was breakfast not the greatest. Coffee ran out twice and had to find workers to re stock. Scrambled eggs were tasteless and cold .

Stunning property! Old hospital beautiful building completely remodeled. Very quiet, parking is only $30 - the cheapest in Chicago. 15 min drive from the Magnificent mile. It’s in the Chicago medical district, safe&clean neighborhood. Huge rooms with lots of light, comfortable beds. Breakfast is top notch. Take time and visit their museum/surgery room.

This place rocketed to the top of our places to stay in Chicago. The building itself is a piece of history (loved the museum that provides details) and is gorgeous. The rooms are clean, modern, and well appointed. The free breakfast was better than most. Highly recommended!

Breakfast is 1 star. They ran out of food and did not restock. Tortillas ran out at 7:30am and breakfast ends at 10. The entire hotel didn’t have hot water all morning. Saturday night, homeless sitting in the front lobby
