Sorry for taking so long to post a review. I was staying here when Zermatt experienced the late season heavy snow, power outage l, and rail suspension in April 2025. It was a very unpleasant experience for the village, but I can say the staff at Alpenlodge went above and beyond. They had great compassion, professionalism, and empathy for all guests during this time. The only reason I’m leaving the review is because their extraordinary efforts during that time deserve commendation. Please keep in mind they also were trapped and without power in their private lives as they also reside in Zermatt. They kept the facility open as best able; updated the guests with recovery assistance news, and kept the facility accommodating. Aside from the problem; they operated with excellence in their normal operation. Very helpful with advice (esp hiking trails!) and where to eat or explore. I’d recommend alpenlodge to anyone wanting to stay in zermatt and not be in the overly crowded downtown corridor. Their spa facilities were a welcome retreat, and the hotel had great views. Again, my sincerely gratitude to the entire staff who assisted us for our stay. Thank you!

Tout est parfait dans cet hôtel : l’accueil, il fait bon chaud, on apprécie le chauffage au sol, le parquet par terre dans les chambres, l’absence totale de bruit, la structure familiale (12 chambres seulement !). C’est la 3ème fois qu’on y vient, cette fois-ci, dans un duplex de 45 m2 pour nous 2, le rêve ! On y reviendra !

sehr stilvolle Unterkunft, mit allem ausgestattet was es braucht, sehr nettes Personal. Ist sehr schön gelegen, etwas weg vom Rummel. Super Frühstück in angenehmer Atmosphäre. Sonnige Terrasse mit Lounge. Ich kann das Hotel nur empfehlen!

This property was very nice the amenities were great. Really enjoyed the spa with the sauna and steam room. The heated bathroom floors were also really nice. Staff were very kind and generous and provided an excellent stay. Highly recommend this place any time of year!

10 minute walk from the main Zermatt shopping area this small luxury hotel is definitely one to consider when visiting and skiing Zermatt. Breakfast included with appetizing options and great service every morning. Ski equipment storage, spa and hamam where well enjoyed after a ski day in these magnificent alps. Salon with fireplace with all day beverages and snacks made the stay even more enjoyable. We had the family room with our 2 young adults and all where comfortable. Much to enjoy at the Alpenlodge.

Tudo parece que foi milimetricamente pensado para que tivéssemos a melhor experiência da vida! Café da manhã impecável e com músicas lindas como som ambiente. Todos do hot foram extremamente educados e atenciosos. O melhor: a vista perfeita para o Matterhorn!

We had a wonderful stay at the alpenlodge. The room was spacious and clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast and service was also excellent. The whole lodge was beautiful and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again

The lodge staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. This included doing laundry for us while we were out for the day. The charge was 10 euros for wash, dry, and fold. This was very much worth it as we were able to spend our time doing what we wanted to do without worrying about laundry. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We had an excellent view of the Matterhorn both evenings and mornings from our room. Having bunk beds for the kids was a bonus versus having one bed for them to share. The breakfast buffet had a variety of options to choose from, and they will also prepare eggs for you. Definitely would recommend, and make sure you book a room with a view of the Matterhorn. If you book a room for more than one night they will arrange transportation from the train depot to the lodge for you.

The property was quiet and clean and felt very safe. Breakfast each day was wonderful. It was a little bit of a walk to get to the main parts of town but it was still very easy and safe. Our room had an incredible view and we really enjoyed our stay.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Alpenlodge. Not only is the hotel absolutely beautiful with stunning panoramic views of the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks, but the people are what truly make this place unforgettable. During my stay, I was traveling with a friend and, unfortunately, we weren’t getting along. It was an emotionally difficult situation to be in during a trip I had been looking forward to. When I spoke with Virginia at the front desk, she showed me such kindness, empathy, and professionalism that I instantly felt supported and reassured. She went out of her way to help me — arranging for an incredible room that gave me the space and peace I needed, with breathtaking views that felt like therapy in themselves. The room was cozy, quiet, and beautifully appointed — every detail was thoughtful and the view of the mountains from the balcony was absolutely spectacular. It gave me the clarity and calm I truly needed. Breakfast each morning was also such a treat — fresh, beautifully prepared, and served with care. Enjoying a peaceful meal while soaking in the views became one of my favorite parts of the day. Every single person I encountered at Alpenlodge was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. But Virginia stood out for how she helped me through a tough moment with such compassion — I’ll always be grateful to her. Situated on a sunny hillside, Alpenlodge offered stunning Matterhorn views from our room's balcony. The best part? We woke up to breathtaking sunrises and sunsets over the iconic peak! The village center and train station were within easy walking distance, making exploration effortless. The staff at Alpenlodge were exceptional. Friendly and helpful, they went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. They provided insider tips and recommendations on must-do activities in the area, making our trip even more enjoyable. Sorry for taking so long to post a review. I was staying here when Zermatt experienced the late season heavy snow, power outage l, and rail suspension in April 2025. It was a very unpleasant experience for the village, but I can say the staff at Alpenlodge went above and beyond. They had great compassion, professionalism, and empathy for all guests during this time. The only reason I’m leaving the review is because their extraordinary efforts during that time deserve commendation. Please keep in mind they also were trapped and without power in their private lives as they also reside in Zermatt. They kept the facility open as best able; updated the guests with recovery assistance news, and kept the facility accommodating. Aside from the problem; they operated with excellence in their normal operation. Very helpful with advice (esp hiking trails!) and where to eat or explore. I’d recommend alpenlodge to anyone wanting to stay in zermatt and not be in the overly crowded downtown corridor. Their spa facilities were a welcome retreat, and the hotel had great views. Again, my sincerely gratitude to the entire staff who assisted us for our stay. Thank you!

The Alpenlodge is truly special! It is a family run boutique hotel with attentive, friendly staff, exceptional accommodations and a breakfast that was superb. This was our first trip to Switzerland so we had many questions and every person we encountered at Alpenlodge (before and during our trip) was very patient and helpful. They even helped coordinate dessert for our son who turned 13 during our stay and decorated our room with balloons too. The location was very quiet, and while it was a bit further from town, it was still very walkable. If it’s cold or snowy, the taxis are easy to catch and the hotel provided discount vouchers which was a very nice perk! We are truly grateful for the hospitality and care we received from Alpenlodge. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Alpenlodge. Not only is the hotel absolutely beautiful with stunning panoramic views of the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks, but the people are what truly make this place unforgettable. During my stay, I was traveling with a friend and, unfortunately, we weren’t getting along. It was an emotionally difficult situation to be in during a trip I had been looking forward to. When I spoke with Virginia at the front desk, she showed me such kindness, empathy, and professionalism that I instantly felt supported and reassured. She went out of her way to help me — arranging for an incredible room that gave me the space and peace I needed, with breathtaking views that felt like therapy in themselves. The room was cozy, quiet, and beautifully appointed — every detail was thoughtful and the view of the mountains from the balcony was absolutely spectacular. It gave me the clarity and calm I truly needed. Breakfast each morning was also such a treat — fresh, beautifully prepared, and served with care. Enjoying a peaceful meal while soaking in the views became one of my favorite parts of the day. Every single person I encountered at Alpenlodge was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. 10 minute walk from the main Zermatt shopping area this small luxury hotel is definitely one to consider when visiting and skiing Zermatt. Breakfast included with appetizing options and great service every morning. Ski equipment storage, spa and hamam where well enjoyed after a ski day in these magnificent alps. Salon with fireplace with all day beverages and snacks made the stay even more enjoyable. We had the family room with our 2 young adults and all where comfortable. Much to enjoy at the Alpenlodge.

The property was quiet and clean and felt very safe. Breakfast each day was wonderful. It was a little bit of a walk to get to the main parts of town but it was still very easy and safe. Our room had an incredible view and we really enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoy our stay here. We had the room with the view of Matterhorn. Place is very clean and quiet. Staff were very helpful and kind. Staff asking us feel welcoming like come to stay with family. Breakfast is basic not a lot of selection which seems to be the norm across every hotel in Swiss that we have stayed. This hotel is situated on a hill, but the hotel provided two free pick up and drop off from train station. It is 20 CHF per trip if you want to use taxi during your stay . You can also walk up and down if you want to exercise. about 10 minutes walk up hill with a nice view.
