The location of the property was great; The pool and jacuzzi were the highlights of our stay. The buildings, and rooms are very outdated and run down. The heat was not so easy to navigate... there was no fitness center. and the shuttle to town was not available on Saturday.

The hotel has the best sunsets & provides a calmness after a busy day. The restaurant is very convenient as well, as is the kitchen in the room. As multiple reviews stated, the rooms need an upgrade. The hot tub didn’t work for us, and the pool was in a hot & muggy greenhouse. Would still stay here again, just know it’s not a resort.

Staff is attentive. My "ocean-view" room had a huge air conditioning unit outside the window. Did not see any ocean. Heat is not controlled by customer...how inane is that? No handicap accessibilty, and no indications of same. Very , very harmful for handcap customers. No vending machines, no ice. TV so small, cannot see clearly from bed. Not a good experience.

Can be found charming for a wedding venue, but best to stay elsewhere for anything else. No shuttle, no pool, no vending machines, no mini fridge, A/C makes a lot of noise, pillows are too hard. 5 out of 5 for clean rooms. Didn't try the restaurant.

If you love and appreciate history, you’ll enjoy this property. The main house, setting and views, in particular, are spectacular. It’s mainly used for wedding and group events and we could see why - the views from the main dining room are “Wow”. It’s doesn’t have an elevator which wasn’t a problem for us. Some of the later additions could have been more sensitive to the original house in terms of finishes and HVAC placement, but maybe that’s what was available at the time. Some updates could really make the building sing again. Our room was spotless. We thought it was very good value. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We would definitely visit again.

Unbelievable that the wifi service was sooo weak and spotty for the amount that this hotel charges - it seems they take for granted that most guests are there for a wedding - and therefore have no choice but to stay there regardless of the inconveniences … For everyone else, they should stay elsewhere

It’s a historic hotel, so it does not feel like a new or updated hotel, which is not a bad thing! Very clean and has a beautiful view. Bed was comfortable. There is only 21 rooms or so, so it is very quiet but the walls are thin - easy to hear people in the hallway. The restaurant was closed while we were there (which is odd since we were there on season). About a 10 - 15 minute drive to downtown Newport.

This is a historic building so your room may not be perfect. We appreciated how this made the hotel unique. Our room was on the third floor. We had windows on both sides of the room giving us sea, sunrise, and sunset views which was so unexpected! Our room had two closets with built-in drawers and shelves. Breakfast was sufficient for continental (bagels, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, granola, orange juice, coffee). The housekeeping services were great; our room was so carefully tended when we returned. The views from this property are spectacular.

The property is old and tired. We had an infestation of ants in one of the bathrooms as well as issues with televisions. Interesting when you check in there are small pass holes with attendants behind Plexiglass? Maybe they haven't gotten word Covid crisis has ended? The property needs some TLC

This hotel is beautiful on the outside, overlooking the oceanfront. First steps in the front door promise charm. However, there are some aspects that I found disappointing, starting with the musty smell that stays with you throughout the building and your stay. It could use an air freshener throughout. The hallways and room were musty and you never get used to the smell. But the worst of the stay was that the room was lit all night long. Light came in the windows (the shades were not room darkening); the television outlet, cable box and smoke detector all emitted an in-your-face blue light; AND the door had at least a quarter inch gap on top, bottom and both sides letting bright light in from the hallway. All these combined made the room light enough that it seemed like daytime -- all night long. At the every least, you should provide guests with sleep masks. Lastly, Beware - Food and drinks are served only Thu-Sun (with the exception of continental breakfast between 8-9:30am) The nearest restaurant/food service is at least a 10-15 minute drive. This is stated at the bottom of the dining page on the website. Unfortunately, I missed that. My bad. The property location is remote and beautiful. But, manage your expectations once inside. Hotel manager, I suggest you spend 1 night in your guest rooms to gain a buyer's perspective.

Stayed Feb/March 2025. No heat coming out, unit 45 deteriorated, all website pictures the big old hotel next to it which leads you to believe that’s where your staying, hole in the siding with squirrels running on and out . Was repaired on the inside with a piece of wood,black mold on the window , pool out of order , spiral staircase to go to second floor bedroom very dangerous!

The view was beautiful, and the room was huge, but it’s listed as a hotel so we were expecting the usual amenities (all actually listed on Expedia) - like shampoo and extra toilet paper - however it turns out this is more of a timeshare, so that was not provided. The hot tub was out of order, and we had a small ant problem at night - the ants would disappear during the day, but in the early morning we found a line of ants (luckily all our food was covered and sealed).

Very disappointed in room. Located at the end of a very distant hallway next to a fire exit that was always open and could easily be accessed from the outside of the building. A potentially dangerous situation. Hotel’s dirty linen was staged outside the door to the room and in front of the emergency exit. We were put in a room that adjoined with another random guest and could hear every little thing even when they weren’t being particularly loud. We were kept up all hours of the night because you can hear every single thing. Even them peeing in the bathroom sounded like they were in our room. Past midnight and up at 6 it was terrible.

This is definitely a wedding hotel. If you're not staying for a wedding it's beautiful but it's not the best option. The mattress was terrible, there wasn't anything in the room to sit on to put your shoes on. The staff wasn't in the front desk for 15 mins when I was trying to check in. The views in the back are wonderful, but I wouldn't stay there again.
This is definitely a wedding hotel. If you're not staying for a wedding it's beautiful but it's not the best option. Location was great, felt like it was getting run down. Had a couple tennis courts in back, completely over grown. The shower water pressure was terrible, the bed were little firm. Over all it worked for our needs, but it it needs a renovation of it's to continue. The room was dated. I am not sure I'd book again.

OceanCliff is a beautiful property with stunning views of the Newport Bridge—that’s the highlight. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short. Our Queen room was very basic, reminiscent of a college dorm, and located directly above the kitchen. By 7 AM, loud music coming from the kitchen made it impossible to sleep in. We also had a poor experience at the on-site restaurant. After a polite greeting, the hostess Rae seemed annoyed with us for no reason. Though we asked to sit outside on a beautiful, empty evening at 5 PM, we were told the tables were reserved. Eventually, we were moved outside, but when we left around 6:30, the outdoor tables were still unoccupied—clearly, they were never actually reserved. To top it off, one of us got food poisoning. And at checkout, no one even asked how our stay was—which is usually standard. It just reinforced the feeling that OceanCliff doesn’t care about guest experience. Between the rude service, early morning noise, and questionable food, we won’t be returning. A pretty view isn’t enough to make up for poor hospitality.

The room was extremely outdated, no thermostat to control temp (it was freezing from the AC), uncomfortable bed and pillows, and the sink water never ran warm/hot! They only had a continental breakfast available with no options for hot breakfast food. For the amount this was nightly, it was far below expectations especially for a 4 star hotel. Views were the only good thing.

This is a lovely property in a lovely setting. We enjoyed our two-day stay very much. We know Newport well and found this a perfect location, a pleasant and pretty drive from everything we wanted to see and do. The staff were great. On a return visit we would request a different room; room 5 looks out on a huge air conditioning unit that almost completely blocks the view. Most of the electrical outlets in the room were too loose to hold a plug, but a couple worked, and that was fine. We would definitely stay again.

Wedding party was from 5:30 to 8:30 pm but the loud noises and music continued until after 11:00 pm. No response from staff or management. Had to resort to calling the police.

Checked in New Year’s Eve, the bar and dining closed at 8pm! And there’s no room service either. It was not communicated to us during check in. We were hoping to stay at resort and have nice time but had to drive out to town for dinner. When we returned we asked front desk for more water guy said no! Didn’t offer to sell or call house keeping, offered no assistance. Will not return. One positive was the bathroom was clean.

OceanCliff is a beautiful property with stunning views of the Newport Bridge—that’s the highlight. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short. Our Queen room was very basic, reminiscent of a college dorm, and located directly above the kitchen. By 7 AM, loud music coming from the kitchen made it impossible to sleep in. We also had a poor experience at the on-site restaurant. After a polite greeting, the hostess Rae seemed annoyed with us for no reason. Though we asked to sit outside on a beautiful, empty evening at 5 PM, we were told the tables were reserved. Eventually, we were moved outside, but when we left around 6:30, the outdoor tables were still unoccupied—clearly, they were never actually reserved. To top it off, one of us got food poisoning. And at checkout, no one even asked how our stay was—which is usually standard. It just reinforced the feeling that OceanCliff doesn’t care about guest experience. It was very disappointing the first night there was a wedding and it was so loud and filled with people who had too much to drink, we couldnt sleep. The next night it was too quiet the bar and the restaurant was closed. Staff never said hello or good evening.

Despite some of the reviews I’ve seen, we had a great stay. We had issues with check in as they said they didn’t see my reservation but I had proof I booked through Orbitz. The night guy gave us a key with the proof and by morning during check out it was found that my reservation was still actually there and there was a mix up, they just didn’t print a card that was needed to be signed. Regardless, every one was super nice. We stayed one night and the room was nice, clean and the bed was comfortable. We had no issues with “noise” BUT we also went in March and not during peak booking times. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful location outside of town. Easy self parking, with gorgeous views of the harbor. There were weddings there both nights we stayed, so was a little noisy. They offered to switch our room for us, which was nice. Breakfast is continental, but we enjoyed eating it with the beautiful view!

Ocean Cliff is a beautiful hotel sitting atop a cliff away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The room was spacious and bed comfortable with a mini fridge, coffee maker and safe. We loved the restaurant and the views.

It’s a historic hotel, so it does not feel like a new or updated hotel, which is not a bad thing! Very clean and has a beautiful view. Bed was comfortable. There is only 21 rooms or so, so it is very quiet but the walls are thin - easy to hear people in the hallway. The restaurant was closed while we were there (which is odd since we were there on season). About a 10 - 15 minute drive to downtown Newport.

Just got back from a girl's getaway with my daughter. The property is lovely, our room was clean, and bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the continental breakfast and dinner at the Safari Room. There was a wedding going on and it did get loud so that would be my only negative. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

Ocean Cliff Hotel was a gem of a find! We absolutely loved it! The views were spectacular!! It’s a very short drive to the lighthouse / another gem of a find! And the sunset there was magnificent!! We ended up having dinner there - which was delicious! Breakfast was included, lots of options, and you couldn’t beat the views of Narragansett Bay! We will definitely be going back!!!

Amazing location and views, comfortable bed but small room with no chairs. Keurig capsules but no creamer or half and half, even when asked for. Cold Continental breakfast with some stale pastries. Something warm (even instant oatmeal!) would have been nice on a cool morning. But the lawn was amazing.

The room was a small studio space and the fridge was stored in the closet. The staff was friendly and helpful besides the woman in the restaurant. They informed us that they didn't have a reservation at 5:30 for my son and I but we could sit at the bar. We order take out because I did not want my son eating at the bar. We went down to get our food and they was no one in the restaurant. Our room did not have AC and we had to use the screen that was provided to have the window open. Not worth the price.

This property has potential to be incredible. But walking in to smell a noticeable gas/propane leak was not ideal. The property is breathtaking. Overall, it seemed overpriced for what the property actually had to offer.

What breakfast lunch or dinner . Unknown until we got there that the restaurant was closed for two days. Our room was a flight and a half up with little effort to help with luggage . Day two they served a continental breakfast. For booking at such a beautiful place by way of pictures,it was a total disgrace especially with what you paid . And it was about 20 minutes from downtown. Staff was 1 person front desk,2 cleaning ladies 1 guy doing general things. No bar nothing .Tell me what were we paying for ,other then an empty catering hall.
