Older motel, very clean and friendly staff and dining room and bar staff welcoming and friendly. Laundry was nice and clean and reasonably priced.

Great place to stay while waiting for ferry to Nfld. Bar closes early is a bit of a negative, but you can carry back to room.

The hotel has seen renovations and is very clean. The hotel has an in house restaurant. The food was really good an reasonably priced. Minutes away from the Newfoundland ferry.

The hotel is definitely older, but has been well maintained overall. Staff: 5/5 Amenities: 3/5 (No ATM, no change machine for vending machines, only one bank of machines broke 5/10/20 bills. No spa or gym, etc.) Location: 3/5 or 5/5 depending on your destination. (Easy access to the NL ferry, not geeat if you're doing something in Sydney proper) Cleanliness: 5/5 Price:4.75/5(Stellar) Other notes: Hotel Restaurant is good, but hours vary based on season (11 a.m. open during off season.) No ATM onsite, no cards for vending machines. Noise level varies based on where you're at (room-to-room noise buffering seems decent, hallway-to-room is not well buffered.) If you're here for business, ask for a king room (the single and double occupancy rooms are separate and the doubles are cheaper, catering toward families it seemed.) There ARE accessible rooms available at check-in, despite not seeing any online. They're at the far end of the hotel (looks like an addition or a renovated suites section), but there is an elevator there. The accessible door buttons at the end of the hotel did -not- work however, even after keying in (also the card reader being so far from the button isn't great, something to consider.) Beds are older coil-spring types, but didn't feel worn out. Room heating systems are floor heat pumps, they work well. Curtains are older style as well, good material but fails to fully blackout the room if you're light sensitive. Oh, and don't mind the Shining vibes.

On site, coin laundry was very convenient.

The staff are incredible at this location, and the food is awesome. Its the closest to home cooked meals that I have experienced in hotel restaurants in the area. They are also reasonably priced. The only thing that I miss at this hotel is a fitness room.

The food from the dining room is exceptional, and the hotel staff are second to none. Something that would improve my stay would be a fitness room.

Easy access to ferry terminal just down the road. Great views!! Great staff. Local restaurant attached. Picnic table out front!! Sweet!!

For a hotel that is an independent, not a chain, we were very impressed. Very clean, large room, quiet and nice and close to the boat. The view was very nice as well.

I always believe in giving an honest review. While the staff at Hotel North were fabulous and the location near the ferry was super convenient, that’s about all I can say this hotel had going for it. We had a room on the first floor, and right away when I saw all of the dehumidifiers in the hallways I knew it wasn’t going to be good. The rooms were “clean”, but there was no hiding the musty smell in the halls and the room. I unfortunately am allergic to mould and very sensitive to smells and I had a very hard time sleeping there. I left the next day with a horrible sinus headache. Even my husband who is oblivious to those things, said it smelled musty. It was extremely expensive and I just think it’s an old building that needs some serious cleaning and TLC. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Left over pretzel from previous occupant on floor, tiny piece of tissue ledt by toilet with what appeared to be blood on it, one of the beds did not have clean linen on bottom sheet, and coffee maker was covered in dust.

Very convenient for ferry. Room could be greatly improved by more lighting. It is a large room with a single light near the door and 2 table lamps. The area by the window, with the easy chair, is too dark for reading with the curtains closed. Easy to remedy with a floor lamp.

Overall stay was good. Owners should look at replacing mattresses and flooring. Carpeting isn’t very sanitary over time.

The bed pillows were the worst I have ever seen or used for a nights sleep! However the room was very clean.

Very nice hotel. Great view at the top of the hill. Clean room, with comfortable beds. Access to Netflix was a hit with the kids. Easy check-in and check-out.

The heater in our room was noisy, it had to be shut down to sleep, the television wasn’t located well, there wasn’t any coffee creamers for the coffee and the wifi signal was very weak in our room. These items may not be an issue with a future stay in a different room. The overall cleanliness of the hotel and the staff were very well.

It convenience of it being right next to the NL ferry is nice, but it’s not at all worth the price. Although I’m not surprised greed would be a factor where it is so convenient. The beds are hard and they monitor how many pillows you have to charge you if you take one. I thought that was strange but would understand more if the pillows weren’t flat and hard. The bed was also not comfortable at all. Shower was nice though. No microwave in the room as well and had to ask front desk to warm a bottle.

Liked room, access. It is in an industrial area, must drive to most venues. Roomneeds towel racks,no place to hang up items in bathroom, no bedside lights or night stands.

Room 250 has a beautiful water view to watch the ferries come and go. Updated clean room. Queen beds and pillows were very comfortable. The restaurant accommodated our supper request for an 8 person seating easily. Food was delicious.Service was grest!

Our check-in was great. Very friendly, helpful staff. They were very informative and pleasant. We called ahead to let them know we would be late checking in and they were so polite and assured us our room would be there for us.

Staff was very friendly and very helpful. I was traveling alone for the first time and they were all very welcoming. I will definitely stay here again and bring family next time!

We came from the boat and weren’t able to get the bus to Halifax until the next day so the staff allowed us to check in early so we could get some much needed R and R! Friendly staff the whole time and very helpful!! Will stay here again when we come back through for sure 🙂

Clean room, quiet, easy access to the parking lot (most rooms are close to an entrance), secure (external doors protected by room key cards). Closest hotel to the Newfoundland ferry terminal.

Comfortable bed, working wifi and tv, good size room and super friendly staff. If you are taking the ferry either to or from Newfoundland and need a convenient location to stay this hotel is far and away the best option. Literally minutes to get to the ferry terminal.

We chose this hotel because it was very close to the ferry. Our crossing got pushed ahead and it was very convenient to be able to be so close.

Lovely stay in hotel close to North Sydney ferry. Beautiful views over the port, short walk to the ferry (up a hill to the hotel) and really friendly, helpful staff. Great for an overnight stay

Stayed 1 night after crossing from Port aux Basque. Awesome service at front desk , the room was super clean . Had dinner & breakfast at the restaurant, the food and staff were awesome. Would definitely stay again at this hotel .

Great restaurant

The room was great and the staff was awesome, but the best thing was that the restaurant was right there, so we didnt have to venture out after a long day. Food was really good and the waitress was the best!
