Wasn't informed of non-functioning elevator until check in. Put on 3rd floor with no refund available. Terrible to operate a multiple floor hotel with no working elevator and NOT offer refunds to folks who find stairs challenging.

We were never told the elevator wasn't working until we checked in. Coming off of hip labrum repair surgery, we were placed on the 4th floor & told a storm had damaged the elevators. When ask when a storm happened we were told July. It is now mid September. Not only did everyone have to take the stairs, there was no A/C in the halls or stairwell.

Could not stay as their elevator has been out of service for over two weeks. The hotel advertised "accessibility " and an elevator , the didnt disclose the broken elevator at they reservation site. I have been stonewalled at every turn trying to get a full refund ... My husband is disabled, it was very disheartening to arrive at our destination only to find out that Best Western Plus Stephenville Inn didnt comply with ADA as they had advertised.

They were remodeling and putting in new windows. Room was updated, but bathroom not totally clean with the baseboard area needing wiping and swept. Ice machine on our floor did not work. Breakfast was just ok and in fact the second day we decided to skip the free breakfast and go eat out. Waffles and yogurt were good and staff in that area was very friendly. I asked when we registered if we could change to a two-bed queen room instead of a king bed, she said we could not it would have to go thru Expedia. It was not from availability; the hotel seemed empty if parking lot an indication. When we left, we asked for a printout of bill, and she responded that she could not print one. I was a little disappointed in the overall experience.

Front desk staff offered various conflicting reasons for this. 1 said a pipe was broken, 1 said maintenance had been notified (on the 1st day). Housekeeping (1 person) was only available a couple hours in the morning, did not speak or understand English and was the only other staff member in the hotel besides the front desk person who couldn't leave the front desk. Manager available only by email. I emailed during my stay and they never responded. Will never stay again. Contacted Expedia twice. Denied any discount or refund. Never using Expedia again.

The check was easy and staff was friendly. However, after checking in I noticed all of the exterior window lacked framing and were exposed to the elements. The elevator and hallways were extremely hot. The fridge sounded like a jet about to take off. Not to mention the dirty carpet with hair all over the bathroom and floors. Very unclean

The staff was lovely for our late arrival. We stayed here last October when the building was being renovated & nothing changed although this time, we walked into the room for a single night stay & it smelled like a musty locker room. Found out why… the carpet next to the window & AC unit was soak your feet wet - not damp - squishy, leaving your feet too wet to climb into bed which was also wet to damp so clammy all night long. Hard to rest, feeling nasty all night. I really don’t ask for much, but really? First time, shame on you; second time, shame on me. We will likely stay elsewhere when in Stephenville from now on. Sorry, sweet staff!!!

Decent hotel. Service was good and went fast. The lobby is clean and well lit. Breakfast is the normal fare. Coffee machines are a nice touch. The room was a little run down. Bathroom could use a little love. Paint missing, base board missing, stains on tub. The carpet at the threshold was worn and fraying. The TV did not get off the greeting screen. Not a game changer but a little frustrating. Even rooms face the back and field so less noise. A few fast food places within walking distance. Parking lot was well lit.

Great experience! All staff were courteous and helpful. They responded timely and professionally to requests (extra bed linens, towels, pillow). Room was clean and well maintained. We accidentally left a few items upon checkout and when I called the person who answered the phone was very helpful and called back in less than 10 minute let me know where the items were found and where they could be picked. Your attention to quality, cleanliness, and customer service were refreshing!! Thank you!

Checked in was terrible. Booked through expedia. Booking said pay at property. Checked in late and got there and the front desk could not find my booking due to they canceled my reservation without bothering calling me. Booked for amount of $164 a night but front desk charged regular price of $229. Asked why and he said that is their reugalar rate talked to manager at home working with kids noises in the background waited for a while so manager can figure out the problem. It was a long checked in and terrible specially the reason to be there is for the kids to enjoy the pool but pool was full of dust and sand. Never going back again.

The elevator was down so we had to carry our suitcases up and down the stairs. The hallways and lobby smelled really badly. The room was clean enough but one lamp wouldn’t work. Staff was not very empathetic either. Didn’t eat the breakfast because of the smell.

This hotel needs some updates. Hours after checkin we were woke by a knock on the door at 10:40 pm by a manager asking our last name and letting us know he booked us in the wrong room. When we asked if there was a problem he said no he was just verifying. We needed to be up early the next day and had a difficult time falling back to sleep. Very strange when he checked us in, took our drivers license and was the person who assigned our room to us. We wont stay here again. Thank you.

Stayed 3 nights, no maintenance available the entire stay. No ice machines working on any floors the entire stays, nonice in the hotel the entire stay. Front desk staff offered various conflicting reasons for this. 1 said a pipe was broken, 1 said maintenance had been notified (on the 1st day). Housekeeping (1 person) was only available a couple hours in the morning, did not speak or understand English and was the only other staff member in the hotel besides the front desk person who couldn't leave the front desk. Had an issue with wet carpet under the AC unit, and the front desk attendant said “I can give you towels, or move you rooms. I will do whatever you want me to to make this convenient for you!” Zero hassle, moved rooms with no other issues.

Horrible staff. Very rude. Someone else underwear in our bathroom. Elevator didn't work even though they promised it would be fixed. Tried to move rooms for a few when we were supposed to stay in same room. Promised chocolate covered strawberries and surprises for my daughter going to college. NOTHING. Will not stay here again

Perfect location for visiting our daughter at Tarleton State University. Convenient to shopping and dining in town. Staff was very friendly. We’ve stayed here twice, and enjoyed the view. Set off the road just enough to be quiet, but convenient. Will come again!

The elevators were out. I have a bad knee. I asked to be on the first floor. They said that’s not going to happen. The carpet is dirty. The baseboards are dirty. Several lightbulbs were out in the hallways and the stairwells. The towels are very thin and have threads hanging off of them. The breakfast quality was very poor and was warm not hot. This is a very poor choice I made when it’s supposed to be one of the nicest hotels in the city. They have signs up, saying they will do a partial refund for the elevators. I expect to see a partial or full refund..

Overall we had a good stay. The room felt clean and updated. Renovations were still being completed but they were not disruptive to our stay. The complimentary breakfast was really bad. The eggs and sausage were inedible, the bread for toast was stale. The only decent options were the prepackaged items.

The staff was very helpful providing blankets and sheets for the pullout. The carpet is worn but ok. Recommend cleaning behind the sofa pullout, my son found toys from previous guests along with other paper trash. Overall breakfast was ok, but the highlight the coffee machine that makes lates and cappuccino.. its open all night.

Decent hotel. Service was good and went fast. The lobby is clean and well lit. Breakfast is the normal fare. Coffee machines are a nice touch. The room was a little run down. Bathroom could use a little love. Paint missing, base board missing, stains on tub. The carpet at the threshold was worn and fraying. The TV did not get off the greeting screen. Not a game changer but a little frustrating. Even rooms face the back and field so less noise. A few fast food places within walking distance. Parking lot was well lit.

The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel in general seemed to need a few touch ups and repairs. The ice machines on the upper floors were not working, or not on, so that was inconvenient.

I wouldn't recommend that deathtrap to anyone. I have to use a walker. We were on the 4th floor. The elevator took forever to get to the 1st floor. It was so tiny that we barely fit 4 people in it. When we finally reached the top floor, none of us thought the door would open. The next day when we called to check for breakfast time, nothing was said about the elevator but it was broken. So when we tried to go down, of course we could not. When we called, we were told it wouldn't be fixed until maybe noon... checkout is at 11am... use the stairs. Its 4 flights and I'm disabled. How am I supposed to do that?? And carry luggage??? And have a Walker??? And how is housekeeping able to come up at 8:30AM?? but a Disabled person has to use the stairs??? Don't they have a special elevator? Half of the hallway lights flicker like a horror movie and the hall feels like an oven. And the downstairs bathroom has no doors. Unbelievable. And they refused to cancel my bookings later in the week after making me live thru the nightmare of their deathtrap. Don't come here. Best Western is NOT what they used to be. Not to be trusted like they used to be. I only booked here because my mom always did when we were kids. Today, 08/11/2026, I buried her. I went to Stephenville to get my son set up in his dorm then drive back for her funeral today. The last thing we needed was a bad place to stay. Some things can't be helped, I know. Its how its handled that makes the difference
