Complicated check in process. No staff on sight. No ice.

Parking slots in parking area are too small. They need to be a little bigger.

Very charming Victorian centrally located to everything in Pacific Grove. Pacific Grove is an extremely safe community but extra safe when you're across the street from the Police Department! Check-in was a breeze, room was spacious and clean. We stayed in a premium Queen which had a small seperate room with a single twin bed that gave everyone a bit more privacy. Perfect for working late on my computer while my kid slept. This hotel only had about 6 units, so it was really quiet and peaceful in a beautiful area. Loved the shared full size refrigerator in common area where you leave a post-it with your room # on your items :)

Loved the place and room. It was the executive room with an ocean view, only trouble was there was no ocean view. The windows in the room were located right on the corner of a 4 way. Had room 107 and it's barely a partial view of the ocean. I mentioned it and response was room was on second floor and I could see it from there. Not even. However, the building and room itself was very pleasant. I would stay again just not pay extra for a view. Honestly, I can't see how any room would give one. And parking is tight in the driveway, but there is plenty of street parking that is safe. You have to call before checking in and you are given the code to enter into front lobby and you are given your room number and electronic code there. There was a coffee maker in room, and if you have food there is a community fridge in the "kitchenette", which also has coffee and water for the guests.

Great location and easy parking with walkable options for dining. So much to do! The only negative was there was no fan or air conditioning, so the room was stuffy at night.

Did not like two flights of stairs to carry a heavy suitcase up and down. Site should list stairs. I was there for a week, leaving most mornings around 5:00 am. No refrigerator in rooms so difficult to have ready access to milk or yogurt. Would be great for 1 or 2 nights.

A wonderful hotel similar to a BnB with large rooms and excellent staff. Greatly appreciated the common room refrigerator and utensils being available. Water, ice, and coffee were very nice to have.

We spent two nights at Pacific Grove Inn during our trip to California. The room was spacious, well equipped and was very clean. The location is fantastic, lots of restaurants within walking distance, grocery stores and a really good coffee shop down the road. Lovers point is a short walk, the Pacific Grove entrance gate to the 17-mil drive is only three mins away and the Monterey Bay aquarium is 5mins away. The house is located opposite to the police station and that also makes you feel extra safe. The only downside is there is no fridge in the room, there is a communal fridge in the main house. It was an hassle as we were travelling with a toddler who needs milk early in the morning. Another point to note is that there is no one on site to help with check-in etc. All messages were replied to really quickly so not a big deal.

My wife and I had a great stay. Other than one other guest, everyone was nice and quiet. The parking situation is not great, but there was plenty of parking on the street around the property.

The Inn contacted us for a 5-star review. I will be disappointing them. We have stayed here once before in room 105 and loved our stay. This time we were in room 104 and it was just not a good room. There was a funny smell in the sitting room and something in that room was getting my wife's asthma going. The chairs in that room were old, dirty, and worn. The carpet was dirty and ripped in one place. The only good thing in that room was the gas fireplace, which didn't put off much heat, but looked nice. The bedroom was a different story. The bed was the second worst bed I have ever attempted to sleep on in a hotel/inn. It was hard, uncomfortable, and really loud when rolling over or getting up. There is an armoire is the room that houses the TV. We were wanting to watch a playoff football game but the TV didn't work. Even if it did it would have been difficult to watch from the bed as the armoire door wouldn't stay open. The bathroom was OK but the pipe the shower head is attached too was really rusty. The worst part of the bathroom though was that the mini blinds would not go all the way down, so the bottom 6-8 inches were open to the window, meaning anybody who wanted to look into the bathroom from the street could see you as you are getting into or out of the shower. On the positive side, the access to the inn and rooms is pretty solid. They text a 4 digit code to you that opens the front door and the last 4 digits of your cell phone opens the bedroom door.

This property was very nice, very quiet, and just overall comfy. The bed was very comfortable and it’s exactly what it looks like in the pictures! Highly recommend if you want a nice, clean, place to stay.

It was good. Would stay again but they could invest in updated mattresses, pillows and linens. Daily housekeeping was great but the overall cleanliness could be improved with some deep cleaning like washing walls and vacuuming heater vents.

A decent location, but place felt like a boarding house. The room had ancient furniture and carpet, not very clean. The TV remote was sticky and disgusting, had to use it with a washcloth wrapped around. The shower was ridiculously outdated and barely useable, with a trickle of water - don't blame the CA low-flow regs! Building needs some serious TLC and updating. It's Pacific Grove, a year-round tourist destination, they aren't hurting for income, invest and improve!

Clean room. Walking distance to the shore

Quiet and clean. Would stay there again. They cleaned our room every day. It is centrally located and within walking distance of downtown Pacific Grove. We stayed during the AT&T ProAm and was able to walk to the shuttle that takes you to the tournament. Easy self check in - great communication from staff

The place seems abandoned with no staff to welcome guests. The rugs are dirty and need major cleaning. The kitchen area is dingy and needs an overhaul. It seems sticky with residue and not exactly clean.

Good room, really clean

I chose this property despite the reviews because of its low price and convenient location. My room was nice with a small balcony. However, it had a very musty/moldy smell which was unpleasant. The day of my trip I received an email with a room number and had to call to get the entry code. Because I booked thru Expedia, I also had to give them a credit card over the phone which left me standing in the hallway giving my credit card details over the phone in order to get the door code to my room. Our phone connection was bad which led to a longer phone call than needed. However, the location was excellent and it was quiet and restful.

Our room was adorable! really private, VERY clean, and the bed / sheets were so comfortable. Pacific Grove very much exceeded expectations. Also, the walk to nearby restaurants and the aquarium was easy and beautiful. Thank you Pacific Grove Inn! Will certainly be returning in the future.

Beautifully renovated so that the historic character was preserved. Comfy beds and complimentary coffee. Gorgeous neighborhood! It’s and old house, so sound proofing isn’t great and we could hear our upstair neighbors. Didn’t bother us, though. Check-in was a little tricky for us because no one was on-site and a phone call was required. we don’t have American phone contracts and our call didn’t go through on our phones or the landline in the lobby. We found another guest who helped us.

Everything in the house was fine, but it is a very noisy street and it did affect my sleeping and would definitely impact staying here any other time. It was nothing wrong with the house is very adequate. We really enjoyed eating at Peppers outside.

This property is a great value. It is a bit worn, but clean, comfortable, and well located just a few blocks from restaurants and shops in Pacific Grove. Our spacious rooms were on the second floor of the back building and each room had its own balcony with views of the bay. We plan to return.

Overall, quite nice. Great location, very friendly staff, clean. We stayed in room 110 which was frankly a very small room, too small.he double paned windows werw not ver efficient, lors of excess noise filtered in from the street.

I didn’t know the room I was given had low ceilings so I could not stand up straight in part of my room. Low water pressure. No closet for. Clothes. Stairs only. Parking are too narrow for one car. They use key codes to enter the building and room when I called for my room code they wouldn’t give it too me until I verbally gave them a credit card number while standing in the hallway outside the room I paid for in advance so anyone could have heard me. Not a fan. I water in the room they have a kitchen downstairs where you can fill your water bottle before climbing the stairs so you have in your room to drink.

I had a wonderful stay at Pacific Grove Inn. The place is very quaint. I love the ambiance. The only thing is that there is no AC, but they will offer you an electric fan.

Place a bit run down. Second floor room very stuffy. Could get one window open only. Nice sitting area in second room with two chairs that felt like could break at any time. For off weekend price ok value. If had paid more would have been greatly disappointed.

The bed was badly deformed. There is one side to watch TV from and that part of the mattress was squashed making the whole thing in even. There is no direct contact with staff so it's hard to rate. Had trouble finding the ice machine cause the book says it's in the lobby but it is outside the back door and I only used the front door.

This is a self-serve property. You have to call, however, to get your room key code. The two men that we spoke to had thick accents and were difficult to understand. Access to the property means you have to carry your luggage up one, two or three sets of stairs. There is a ramp in the rear of the building but we were not allowed to use it (it would have eliminated one set of stairs). The facility offers a shared refrigerator, no freezer. We saw ice cream in the crisper drawer. The sheets are yellowed and the blinds are tattered and the cords are unsafe for kids. At night the cars driving by can be pretty noisy. Throughout the day and night you can hear doors shutting and the keyless locks going off. We could hear a cell phone going off next door, people coughing and talking. So not peaceful. Just not my jam. The thick plastic on the dining tables is a bit eye popping. I wish them the best but we would not choose it again.

Pacific Grove Inn is a non-staffed hotel within a Victorian house setting. Each room is accessible by keypad. Even though the room is paid in full prior to your stay, you are required to call a number to gain access to your room and only after giving your credit card information for incidentals. Bed is comfortable, but room is very basic and there is only a portable fan to cool the room on a warm day.

Price was good, beautiful historic style hotel. Would probably not stay here again since there aren't attendants onsite, and that isn't exactly made clear in the listing for the hotel. A bit freaky to stay at a hotel with other people where there's not a person of authority to go to in case of emergency or altercation (I worked in hospitality so I know this from experience. People can be interesting to say the least.). I get staying at an AirBnb where you're the only guest and the owners offsite, but a situation like this just didn't make me feel quite comfortable. No breakfast as well, just tea and coffee. Might be a good situation for some, but I would be much likelier to come back if there were onsite attendants.

The property was nice, but there was no front desk. All by phone. Makes for impersonal customer service. There was room in my suite, but no chair or table/desk in the room, so i had to eat dinner on the bed. Would i stay again? Not unless it was last place.

The building was old and interesting in appearance. It was near the Monterey Aquarium. Room check-in was easy, although you will need to call to get the code to enter the room due to non-reception. Because the sound is not clear, you must say all your credit card information loudly and other guests can hear it, which is not good. Limited facilities such as no refrigerator in the room. The TV wasnot working in our room. The toilet fan didnot work great. Due to the old building, you can easily hear the sound of walking or any movement from the upstairs room or the stairs. Having a damp smell. In general, it is not suitable for families with toddlers or babies, as using the refrigerator in general to store milk or baby food. it is not hygienic, safe and reliable, at least for me. Overall, we were not happy in this place , and there is zero chance that we would like to stay here again.

Not a problem if you don’t need to work from the room and enjoy no service when you check in. Last night had a tough check in. I called to self-check during the staffed hours in afternoon, want given the direct number to the staff, and got building code. However, the foreign call center rep didn’t ask for credit card for incidentals (room was pre-paid) and after hauling my three bags up 3 flights of stairs, had to to back down to call them again, then go back upstairs again with all my bags. I got to the inn by 10 pm and had to figure it where the room was, poor signage, and why the code wasn’t working out on my own. Then got up early (loud seagulls at 6 am) only to find out that coffee isn’t served until 8 am. No desk in room to set up my computer either. This is a bed n breakfast, not an inn. Recommend if you are older and have good knees, plan on just sleeping there and leaving early since check out is 10 am. Overall a frustrating, isolating experience that allows the owners to enjoy passive income.

Beautiful inn. Excellent customer service. I had lots of questions and they were very patient, available, and thorough. I was at the top level, so lots of stairs.

This was a perfect place to stay. Remember, you are in a 120 year old house, so you can hear the other people moving about but that's what you get in an old house. Location is perfect for walking to shops and restaurants in town. Less than 5 minutes away. The aquarium is a 20 minute walk, but enjoyable along the coast or through the neighborhood looking at all the old homes.

Very nice stay in an historic property. No staff on site and parking is free and available but very tight spaces. The police and fire station are across the street so get ready for sirens in the middle of the night.

Beautiful Victorian boutique hotel. Close enough to everything. But without the hustle, bustle and noise.

The property was very convenient and very close to downtown Pafific Grove and Lover's Point. The 2 bedroom of the property was amazing and very clean. I would recommend this property to everybody. My wife loves the old victorian look atmosphere. We walked over 10,000 steps everyday. You can also get picked up by an uber for a reasonable price.

Great location and classic charm!

Simple and quiet. Easy walking access to my favorite coffee shop - Captain and Stocker - and straight down to an easy walking path to the beach and while admiring the local architect and colorful houses…

Elegant turn of the century decor in dining/game room, parlor & guest rooms w/fireplaces was lovely and comfortable. Will be a plus when evening social hour and continental breakfast added to amenities. Easily walkable to a variety of coffee/pastry shops & casual or fancier dining & lots of quaint shops.
