The Spires Serviced Apartments Cardiff

The apartment was lovely. Great view of the park. Good area to be in. Car parking let it down. Very cramped and some bays impossible to use if other guests didn’t park very well.

Clean and convenient for city centre. Parking is very tricky due to space - but we managed. The light by the door which I think is for the fire alarm is so bright it's like trying to sleep with a light on - not great for me but might not bother some people. Other than that I couldnt fault it

I was looking forward to staying here having seen great reviews & a great score. I visit Cardiff often and have stayed in many of the hotels, so thought this would be somewhere good to try, to possibly make my regular chosen place to stay on future visits. I tried to book parking from the moment I booked (a week before our stay). It took 5 days to finally get a response about the parking! I was allocated the worst possible parking spot at the place when we arrived. Incredibly difficult to get in and out of, and can’t believe that cost £15 for 1 night! And I was parked in on the morning I wanted to leave (photo attached). The apartment was nicely decorated and welcoming, but reeked of curry. The windows had been left open (to help with this clearly), but this was seriously not ok. And it wasn’t from a takeaway from the previous guests (as we were told) from the night before, this was engrained in the place. Wasn’t the cleanest of rooms with old tissues and hairbands visible in the floor by the bed, cobwebs very visible and mildew in the basin. We had to request towels as well as there were none. There seems to be double glazing, but in old window frames, so it is very noisy. In general, I think it could be a nice place, but certainly not worth the money charged, the parking was a joke and shouldn’t have been charged for, and I’m not sure why they’re scored a 9.2 in reviews on here. But it’s an ok choice if you’re stuck with no other availability nearby.

Great location and easy to get into town. Parking was £15 a night which was fine and lovely little apartment for a nights stay in cardiff!

Easily our best-value stay on a budget, three-week, new-place-every-night trip - our room was large, well equipped and very reasonable, walking distance from lovely downtown Cardiff, and in the other direction, a brewpub that came by recommendation of the very friendly and welcoming staff at the Spires. Parking is limited but we parked a couple of blocks away for free - inquire ahead for parking if you need it. It is a little tricky to spot and access from the road if it's busy...took us a couple of tries.

Perfect location! Would have been good to have been told about pre booking the parking. But apart from that was a lovely stay 5 minutes walk to the castle and stadium.

Parking was fully booked but I managed to find parking elsewhere for free. Nice room, cosy

Two lovely apartments booked. Clean and tidy. Perfect location. Parking can be a squeeze depending on vehicle. Second time of booking and would book again.

Lovely apartment- perfect location for centre of Cardiff and accessing the castle, the Taff trail and Bute Park. Super clean, well equipped kitchen - all we could need. Only thing was the parking is an extra charge and was a little tight for space.

A nice enough place to stay. Not a four star accommodation, however. Arrived to find a used bath towel and some crumbs and debris on the table and chairs left by previous guest(s). Charged us to check out at 11 am.

My family and I traveled to Cardiff for my work. It was our first time using a serviced apartment and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. My son is a year old and enjoyed pottering around the apartment which was child friendly except for the bin cupboards which we couldn’t expect to be anywhere else. The rooms were comfortable and I had a good night’s sleep for the week. My only complaint would be that the apartment wasn’t as clean as it could have been. Dead bugs have been left smeared on walls or stuck in the blinds and my son found old remnants of food under the bed which I had to wrestle out of his grip. It would also have been appreciated to get additional towels/a clean during the week but I don’t know if I should have requested that. Overall a lovely stay and I would visit again! The parking in the hotel is quite tight but we got there in the end!

Richard contacted me a few days before to discuss the booking & when we arrived was on hand to greet us. The apartments were spacious and well planned out and have everything you could need for a short or longer stay. The beds were comfy and the rooms were very clean. It was nice to have a fan in the room as it was a muggy weekend. A few minor points were that it was very hot in the corridors, adding to the heat in the rooms from the muggy weather, the beds were a little short and the hallways weren't super clean. Having said that none of this spoilt what was a very good stay.

The property location is fantastic, it's a lovely walk into the city and at the right end of the city for eating etc. The property is spacious and well laid out and you get a lot of amenities. However we walked into the property and there were dirty towels on the floor, the beds were twins put together when it was advertised as a double and it was incredibly uncomfortable. The shower tray didn't drain making it extremely difficult to have a shower, we complained about this via email and whatsapp and the only response was on the sunday 15 minuets check out on the Sunday. They do say no one mans reception on the weekend which is fine, but the correspondence does say emails and whatsapp will be monitored. The parking, there are 7 spaces we were in space 7. This was without a doubt the most difficult car park I have ever had to navigate. It's so tight its a joke the only way we could get in our space was due to thankfully no one being in space 5 and 6. If I didn't use these spaces I would not have been able to get in at all.

Generally a nice apartment with a good bathroom. The problem is that the service is not good. We ran out of toilet paper, shower soap, the mini safe didn’t work and one of the laundry washer/driers seemed to have a defective drier function. Summary: nice place near to Bute Park and Cardiff Castle too bad there’s issues with customer service.

My apartment was perfect. Comfy bed, great shower, plenty of space. Everything you could need including iron, coffee, tea etc. Only a 10 minute walk into the city centre. I will definitely stay here again Only two things meant this wasn't a 5 star review. Hotels.com did not advise that the car park had to be booked separately. And the communal areas didn't smell very nice.

The overall building is a little old but it is worth the money. Do not go in expecting a five star stay as it’s basically a three star experience. They do not have basic items such as tissue papers or toiletries. But I will commend the front desk guy Richard. He was extremely helpful and did provide me with extra towels and offered cleaning during my stay. But I don’t hold anything against him it’s just that the property needs a slight upgrade.

Property was great and would happily stay again. My only issue was the lack of toilet paper within the room. It wasn’t adequate enough and by the time I had noticed reception was shut.

Wouldn’t usually stay in an apartment but it was a nice change, very spacious and had everything we needed. Cleanliness could have been improved in certain areas, had a couple of stained towels, lots of cob webs and the bins outside were overflowing. it offers parking for an additional charge but we were never sent the documentation to book this and thought we could pay on arrival. There is no cheap parking near by and was a nightmare to find alternative parking However it was in a Great location, within walking distance of the castle and a short drive from the town centre.

Easy hassle-free access to building in a great area ( just past Cardiff Castle near Sophie Gardens nearby). The 2 bed apartment ( with en-suites) was very clean with good decor. Very comfortable beds. Good sized rooms. We had a very quiet and chilled stay. Kitchen/community room was very well equipped. Would definitely try and book again in the future.

Thanks for a great stay. Richard at reception was very welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean. The only thing for us was the heat. The weather was very hot and the room got extremely hot as well. As there is no air con, perhaps fan would have helped. We had to sleep with the windows wide open and as the building is on a very busy road and can be noisy especially at the weekend, the noise did wake the dog a few times. Something to consider if you bring your dog with you. But overall our stay was great, and I would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Room was like an absolute furnace (baby monitor showed 26 degrees in November, despite windows being open, radiators off and a fan on, almost impossible to sleep, especially when combined with what I can only presume was Usain Bolt training in the corridors most of the night and what felt like a floodlight shining in from outside. The accommodation itself was nice and well equipped but I would struggle to recommend after having one of the worst nights sleep I have ever had

A wonderful apartment with everything you need right in the city centre (10 minute walk to the central hub!). Everything is modern and spotless- the bed isn't the most comfortable and the location of the room (I was in the front of the building) meant it was fairly loud- all nit picking and easily fixable. Would stay again thanks to the seamless communication!

The apartment itself was very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable, with little to no outside noise to disrupt sleep. Reception isn’t open on weekends but there was great communication from staff giving me information of how to access anything I needed. It’s a walkable distance into the town centre, Castle and Cardiff Central station, therefore offering places nearby to get any food, shopping etc.

Great studio room a short walk from the city centre or there was a bus stop right outside. Good facilities with everything we needed. A really good size for two people and the beds were converted into twins. The room was lovely and clean - so much nicer than a hotel room. Nice they provided tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and washing up things including dishwasher tablets. Found it a little hot but we could open windows and there was a fan but unfortunately it was a muggy day so room still a bit too warm. Richard on reception was friendly and helpful.

Great size room, close to the centre. Lovely shower. Good kitchen facilities.

I have stayed at the spires 3 times in the past month. On two occasions the room has been great/.modern with ensuite and kitchen lounge . One occasion was not so great with the bedroom straight off the main corridor door. Noise untill the early hours. Would I stay again yes

Was a really nice place. For the price of a small hotel room you can get a whole apartment. We didn't use the kitchen but looked like good quality. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean. We did self check in so the codes to access the building and the room key was sent via WhatsApp. Communication from the Spires team was great. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

states you get a hairdryer - wasnt provided states there is an out of hours manager to help if anything is wrong. THERE ISNT. Just a woman in Glasgow who can do nothing. No hot water in the morning either and luke warm the previous day. complained and was in other words told i was a liar... charming.

Excellent! Great communication from Richard. Phone call to check we were happy with the entry instructions. Everything was left for us to access the property with our emailed instructions. The apartment had a great location, easy walk into town but in a quiet street so away from the noise. Not far from the castle and park also. The apartment was spotlessly clean with lovely towels and bedding. We were very impressed and will definitely recommend it to others and will come back to stay again!

Communication from Ewelina was fanatastic. We missed some communication and I contacted her out of hours and went over an above on a Friday evening - fantastic customer service .

We checked into the property at the weekend when there wasn’t anyone manning reception. We rang ahead and were able to drop our bags off at the apartment before we could check in as we had an event to go to. The staff were really accommodating in arranging this for us and even put the bags up in our apartment when it was ready so that they were there when we checked in. Rooms were clean and relaxing. Bed was very comfy and bathroom was spotless.

Great location, friendly staff, only stayed one night. Daughter has dietary needs so kitchen was a bonus

Perfect location for exploring the City Center and easy access to multiple bus routes. Easy to see the city without a car. Apartment was nice and easy to cool down with good cross breezes. Check in and check out was contactless and flawless.
