Great family friendly location. We really enjoyed the cozy feeling of the home and furnishings. The house has a neat layout that added to the unique characteristics. Loved the view of the River from the living room. The fire pit location was a bonus! Cannot wait to come back!

It’s clear someone took a lot of time to restore this older home. The inside was very clean and comfortable. We wish there was a book with some details on the house as some things weren’t as straightforward (e.g. no check out instructions). We enjoyed the location of this house from town and proximity to other cities (~35 minutes from Traverse City). The outside of the property needed a little TLC and didn’t seem like it received much attention for our visit - paint was chipping on the back deck, the trash can seemed like it had been sitting near the roadway for a while, there was a deceased animal in the middle of the driveway that we had to dispose of that had been sitting there a while, the grill wasn’t clean and had been sitting without a cover, and the grass was really long/hadn’t been cut in a while. Overall, it was a comfortable stay for our party of 4 and we would return if ever in the area again.

We loved staying here for a week with our young kids. A room for them to share with toys, a kitchen table as well as a large dining room table was wonderful for our board game loving group. A wonderful find! It was in close proximity to great local restaurants like “Rosie’s” which we frequented. We loved that there was laundry on the first floor and Adirondack chairs overlooking the river to enjoy our afternoons and morning coffee. An overall fantastic stay.

Warning: the property is a gem, but Vacasa, the management company, is AWFUL. First, they sent us the wrong Wi-Fi password. After leaving a message with the local Vacasa manager (never got a response) and texting with Vacasa, we finally figured it out ourselves--it was on the router. Then, it got gradually hotter as we stayed there, and we finally figured out the AC was not working. Called the local manager, who never called me back. It was finally fixed our last day--no one called to tell us that someone was coming to fix it. Communication was horrible. And then they offered us a mere $20 a day refund for AC not working, which is what they offer if the TV doesn't work. I suggest the owners find a new management company, because this one does not treat their customers well at all, and the local person is a ghost. The property itself is gorgeous, and the house is so well-equipped. My rating would have been a 5 star, if Vacasa hadn't ruined the experience.

4 of us friends stayed here 4 nights for a ski trip in January. The home was so nicely decorated and had plenty of room! The large kitchen had all the pans and utensils we needed. The living room was cozy, large and had enough seating for a big group. The fireplace was beautiful, although the wood was snow covered and wet, they had 3 hour logs all ready to burn. The Betsie River is right out the door and so pretty. Crystal Mt is a mile away, so we downhill skied, cross country skied, and enjoyed the pool and hottub over there. We snowshoed in the park/campground next door. We can’t wait to stay here when it’s warmer and can kayak the river and bike/hike the nearby trails.

The house was very clean and tidy, and in a quiet location. There are lots of attractions nearby (within 20 min drive). All the appliances were new-ish, and fully functional. Overall, a good place to stay with a few quirks that we ran into. First, the good. The location is great with Crystal Mountain just down the road and Frankfort only 20 minutes away. We loved being next to the river! Our boys found bugs and little fish to catch and it wasn't too deep near the dock. Yes, it is next to a campground and road but overall was pretty quiet the weekend we were there. The firepit is a nice touch too.Now the not so great, the bedroom with two twin beds was unusable as there was a strong odor in that room. Vacasa offered to have someone come out but I don't want to deal with that on my vacation so we just slept elsewhere. Also, the internet and TV worked when it wanted to and the A/C was a bit of a mystery. It's good to "unplug" on vacation but those things should work if it is listed as an amenity. We were away from the cabin most days so probably would have casued more disruption if we had stayed more in the cabin. Fix those issues and we would be back.

House was great. Right on river kids were able to have a blast in the river. Had small issue with bathroom vanity drain and maintenance came over and fixed it right up. Definitely staying again. Right across the street from Thompsonville airport. Small airport but perfect for flying in to and walking to this house.

8 of us enjoyed the weekend at this cozy home on the river. The house provided everything we needed for our stay and was very clean. The property does border a campground and is near the road, which neither were super noisy but it wasn't as quiet and secluded as we hoped. The beautiful view with a fire pit that sits on top of the river was the best part.

Terrific location on the Betsie River and beautiful home. We were very comfortable with a group of 6 and had no trouble getting back and forth to Crystal Mountain. The house was very clean and ready early, and management was easy to reach for additional information. Would highly recommend for a ski trip at Crystal and also imagine that it would be a beautiful location for a warm weather visit as well.

The inside of the home was very clean and comfortable for our party of 4. The location to town was great and was a good landing spot for some of our itinerary to Traverse City. Check-in was also easy. The outside needed a little TLC, but we were able to enjoy a fire with a view of the river. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Property was as advertised. It was very clean and well appointed. Easy to find though its not close to any large city. Once we figured out that we needed to put the access code in rather quickly instead of slow and deliberately we had no issues getting in. The only other small issue we had was the wifi info we recieved via notification was not correct, but we found it on the modem and had no issues after that. The only other suggestion would be a small packet pointing out local stores or restaurants, sites of interest and activities. Overall both my guest and i had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the house and the beautiful river view immensely.

We returned for a second time booking this little piece of heaven. My family just loves it here. The little river and bonfire pit are our favorite. The home is always clean and neat. Comfy beds, its just what you think a cute little cottage should be. The home has every accommodation needed. The property itself is large and beautiful. Great location. Great location near Crystal Mountain ski resort, and a short drive to everything the Sleeping Bear area has to offer. Approximately equidistant from Traverse City, Manistee, and Cadillac. Betsie River is in the backyard, a firepit for s'mores, and great night sky views from the deck. Lots of comfortable seating in the living room, kitchen includes plenty of pots and pans. We would stay here again.

As the title states, the house was very clean and there was plenty of room for our two families to enjoy a trip up north. The seating was ample and the outside was great as well. However, there were some issues with it that make me not want to recommend it to other guests, at least with circumstances aligned with ours. The downstairs bathroom's lock was completely broken on arrival, and given it's a double sliding door, the privacy was poor. This same bathroom's soap dispenser was also empty when we arrived. The property does have central heating and cooling, but the upstairs bedroom is not included in this. If you're staying in the summer, prepare for the first floor to be cold and the upstairs bedroom to be 10 degrees warmer or more. It was very uncomfortable and hard to sleep. There is a tiny fan up there that wouldn't turn on (just the light worked), and the windows being open didn't help much when it was muggy outside at night. Also, the pillows included on the king bed upstairs were the thinnest pillows I've ever seen, and provided no support. We had to go to the store to buy new pillows to use on our trip. The upstairs is also a loft with very weird ceilings following the contours of the roof, which I understand is probably unavoidable, but as a 6'4" person, I hit my head on the slanted walls a lot at night trying to find my way to the bathroom. This loft area also has no door, so there is zero privacy upstairs.

Vacasa offered to have someone come out but I don't want to deal with that on my vacation so we just slept elsewhere. Also, the internet and TV worked when it wanted to and the A/C was a bit of a mystery. It's good to "unplug" on vacation but those things should work if it is listed as an amenity. We were away from the cabin most days so probably would have casued more disruption if we had stayed more in the cabin. Fix those issues and we would be back.

We loved the home, despite days and days of cold wind and rain. We enjoyed our stay! The home was cozy and the weather cleared 12 hours before our departure, to at least somewhat be able to enjoy the natural beauty of this home. We found the beds very comfortable, the internet worked great! Strong enough to accommodate a remote office location for the week.

The house was very cozy and comfortable. We had plenty of room to spread out. The river in the backyard was a lot of fun for the kids, they fished and played in the water in the shallow areas. Very nice place.

It’s clear someone took a lot of time to restore this older home. The inside was very clean and comfortable. We wish there was a book with some details on the house as some things weren’t as straightforward (e.g. no check out instructions). We enjoyed the location of this house from town and proximity to other cities (~35 minutes from Traverse City). The outside of the property needed a little TLC and didn’t seem like it received much attention for our visit - paint was chipping on the back deck, the trash can seemed like it had been sitting near the roadway for a while, there was a deceased animal in the middle of the driveway that we had to dispose of that had been sitting there a while, the grill wasn’t clean and had been sitting without a cover, and the grass was really long/hadn’t been cut in a while. Overall, it was a comfortable stay for our party of 4 and we would return if ever in the area again.

Terrific location on the Betsie River and beautiful home. We were very comfortable with a group of 6 and had no trouble getting back and forth to Crystal Mountain. The house was very clean and ready early, and management was easy to reach for additional information. Would highly recommend for a ski trip at Crystal and also imagine that it would be a beautiful location for a warm weather visit as well.

Warning: the property is a gem, but Vacasa, the management company, is AWFUL. First, they sent us the wrong Wi-Fi password. After leaving a message with the local Vacasa manager (never got a response) and texting with Vacasa, we finally figured it out ourselves--it was on the router. Then, it got gradually hotter as we stayed there, and we finally figured out the AC was not working. Called the local manager, who never called me back. It was finally fixed our last day--no one called to tell us that someone was coming to fix it. Communication was horrible. And then they offered us a mere $20 a day refund for AC not working, which is what they offer if the TV doesn't work. I suggest the owners find a new management company, because this one does not treat their customers well at all, and the local person is a ghost. The property itself is gorgeous, and the house is so well-equipped. My rating would have been a 5 star, if Vacasa hadn't ruined the experience.

The inside of the home was very clean and comfortable for our party of 4. The location to town was great and was a good landing spot for some of our itinerary to Traverse City. Check-in was also easy. The outside needed a little TLC, but we were able to enjoy a fire with a view of the river. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Property was as advertised. It was very clean and well appointed. Easy to find though its not close to any large city. Once we figured out that we needed to put the access code in rather quickly instead of slow and deliberately we had no issues getting in. The only other small issue we had was the wifi info we recieved via notification was not correct, but we found it on the modem and had no issues after that. The only other suggestion would be a small packet pointing out local stores or restaurants, sites of interest and activities. Overall both my guest and i had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the house and the beautiful river view immensely.

We pulled up to an overflowing trash can that had been raided by racoons, the furnace required service during our stay, and I'm not quite sure how this is listed to sleep 8. Otherwise, the view of the river is awesome, the Vacasa representatives were able to help us through a few issues, and the interior of the house was nice. With a few of the kinks worked out this was an enjoyable stay.

House was great. Right on river kids were able to have a blast in the river. Had small issue with bathroom vanity drain and maintenance came over and fixed it right up. Definitely staying again. Right across the street from Thompsonville airport. Small airport but perfect for flying in to and walking to this house.

Due to extreme Michigan weather, ice, wind, no electricity, we were unable to travel to our VRBO site. Called 800 number - English is second language. No help. Would be better to deal with personal owner than large rental company who uses VRBO for advertising and is unresponsive.

Betsie River is in the backyard, a firepit for s'mores, and great night sky views from the deck. Lots of comfortable seating in the living room, kitchen includes plenty of pots and pans. We would stay here again.

Nice place for our group. Comfortable and clean. Neat house and easy drive to area attractions. A little noisy sometimes being close to a well traveled road but it wasn't all that noticeable. Good value compared to many other properties we considered.

The house was very clean and tidy, and in a quiet location. There are lots of attractions nearby (within 20 min drive). All the appliances were new-ish, and fully functional. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, enough for 8-10 people. There were plenty of knives, although they were not sharp enough, and I couldn't find a sharpener. The river runs right next to the house, with stairs down to it. Altogether a beautiful location, and a carefree stay.

Thanks so much for a great stay. We really enjoyed the home and it is close to so many places in northwest Michigan (Interlochen, Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Platte River). We had a lot of fun!

Great house for a group. Comfortable, and had everything we needed for cooking and being together with friends for a week. Location is perfect for Basecamp for adventures on the Betsie and Platte Rivers, and all the towns in between.

Just down the road from Crystal, so it was super convenient going back and forth for lunch and dinner breaks. Furniture was comfortable for relaxing after skiing and the kitchen had what we needed. The house has charm and character, and we would certainly stay here again.
