Location was fabulous—very walkable to shops, restaurants and bars. The property was as described in the listing but it’s important to know there is no free on-site parking. And while the free public lot is quite convenient there is a max stay of 72 hours. For a long stay (ours was five nights) it becomes iffy since that free lot was full or maybe one/two spots open anytime we’d go by. Had to make sure to move the car around after certain amounts of time. At the property some of the bathroom finishes needed work: both toilet seat covers were old and the plastic was peeling off. The toilet paper holder in one is installed upside down so the roll would fall off to the floor each time. Kitchen was missing some items I’d expect, like tongs and cheese grater so had to improvise the night we cooked at home. Was also missing wipes or a counter cleaner for cleaning up after cooking so just went with paper towels and water. Would rebook for a short stay but not for a longer stay with the parking issue.

I was in town for 5 days for my brother’s wedding. After traveling all day I arrived in Portsmouth at 9:30pm, tired and hungry. I parked right in front of the apt, stashed my bags, walked next door to The Pressroom for a quick dinner, slept soundly on the comfortable bed, then rolled downstairs for delicious espresso and pastry the next morning at Kaffee Vonsolln. This would epitomize my stay-convenience and comfort. All of Portsmouth proper is at your fingertips There is some noise at night from the businesses nearby, but I found it appealing rather than intrusive. I had concerns about parking, but this was a non issue. I parked in the free lot on Parrot Ave for much of my stay (72 hr limit) and street parking is free overnight. Great stay! Location couldn't have been better. We had everything we needed & as advertised. The deck was a bonus. It was great to relax out there after walking around all day. We dropped out bags off first and then parked in the free lot which was just a few minutes walk away. Definitely would stay here again the next time we visit.

The 3 flights of stairs was a little hard on my mother-in-law and we also had heavy luggage. But, the location was superb and we loved the condo! Would definitely stay again when it’s just me and my husband.

Darry has a wonderfully located loft apartment in walking distance to great dining and shopping. It was clean and had everything we needed to make this "home" during our stay. The noise level till 1:00 am the first night was bothersome but expected because of the location. I would personally bring a mattress pad for comfort if I stayed again. Recommend if you don\'t mind 3 flights of stairs. Overall a very nice place to stay.

Nice condo in a good location. Very much central walking distance to all shops and restaurants in downtown Portsmouth. Lots of stairs, so it could be a little tricky with luggage and also the spiral staircase going up to the bedroom on the second floor. There is a bar down below that plays live music and it can get pretty lively until kind of late but other than that it is a great place to stay

Great place! The only thing that wasn’t clear to me is that one of the beds was a futon. It was tough for two adults to sleep on it. It was not very comfortable. Other than that the location was amazing and the place was very clean. I would consider renting it again.

Our stay in the Downtown Escape was perfect! After a 7-hour drive, we were delighted to see how clean, cozy, and well equipped our accommodations were. The location was perfect, upstairs from a fantastic coffee shop and within walking distance of all the sights and sounds Downtown Portsmouth has to offer. I am so glad we chose to stay here.

What an incredible treat to stay in the heart of our hometown! The property felt like a home, was clean and spacious, and offered the perfect balance of privacy and experience. We will return as often as possible. I highly recommend making this your home away from home in Portsmouth.

I enjoyed a weekend away here with a few girlfriends and we were beyond impressed with this property! We immediately noticed how clean it was upon check-in. It looks even better than the pictures and the location is walkable to numerous shops and restaurants. An added bonus was enjoying coffee at the cafe that was right below us. I can’t say enough good things about our weekend here and I would absolutely stay here again!

We came to Portsmouth for a long weekend to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday! Our stay in Darryl’s place was absolutely amazing! It was extremely clean and comfortable! You couldn’t ask for a better absolute location! Everything is in walking distance! Darryl is the best host ever! We were so happy to to have such a perfect trip! Definitely recommend this place and the host Darryl is absolutely amazing! We can’t wait to come back and stay here again! 5 star all the way!

I traveled to Portsmouth with my adult daughter for some much needed girl time. This property was in the perfect location in beautiful Portsmouth. The apartment is lovely and the beds very comfortable. The host was amazing and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely stay here during my next visit to Portsmouth.

My cousin and I enjoyed a girls' weekend in Portsmouth. The property was within a mile of all the spots we wanted to check out, and the condo was appointed with nice furniture and art, upscale appliances, and some extra treats! The owner was friendly, helpful, and communicative, and he went out of his way to offer tips and suggestions for our stay!

Hi. My wife and I and our adult son stayed here for a few days of exploring the Portsmouth area. What a perfect spot! The unit was exactly as advertised and in an excellent location downtown. Walkable to all shops and restaurants. We had one minor issue with one of the toilets and the host response was quick and the matter resolved. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it!

This home was perfect. It met all our needs and it's located in the center of Portsmouth with immediate access to restaurants and shops. It's also located just a short 5-minutes’ walk to Portsmouth Harbor Cruises, if you'd like to take a nice sunset cruise around the harbor. The host kept in touch via email and made sure we knew how to contact him if we needed anything. We didn't! I highly recommend you stay at this hidden Portsmouth gem.

We came to Portsmouth for a long weekend to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday! Our stay in Darryl’s place was absolutely amazing! It was extremely clean and comfortable! You couldn’t ask for a better absolute location! Everything is in walking distance! Darryl is the best host ever! We were so happy to to have such a perfect trip! Definitely recommend this place and the host Darryl is absolutely amazing! We can’t wait to come back and stay here again! 5 star all the way!

Great place! The only thing that wasn’t clear to me is that one of the beds was a futon. It was tough for two adults to sleep on it. It was not very comfortable. Other than that the location was amazing and the place was very clean. I would consider renting it again.

Great location and the condo had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Communication with Darryl was an easy and he was very responsive. Definitely a five star experience and place. I would absolutely book again!

Great stay! Location couldn't have been better. We had everything we needed & as advertised. The deck was a bonus. It was great to relax out there after walking around all day. We dropped out bags off first and then parked in the free lot which was just a few minutes walk away. Definitely would stay here again the next time we visit.

Nice condo in a good location. Very much central walking distance to all shops and restaurants in downtown Portsmouth. Lots of stairs, so it could be a little tricky with luggage and also the spiral staircase going up to the bedroom on the second floor. There is a bar down below that plays live music and it can get pretty lively until kind of late but other than that it is a great place to stay

Our stay in the Downtown Escape was perfect! After a 7-hour drive, we were delighted to see how clean, cozy, and well equipped our accommodations were. The location was perfect, upstairs from a fantastic coffee shop and within walking distance of all the sights and sounds Downtown Portsmouth has to offer. I am so glad we chose to stay here.
Our stay in the Downtown Escape was perfect! After a 7-hour drive, we were delighted to see how clean, cozy, and well equipped our accommodations were. Stayed with some friends to enjoy the local shops and restaurants. This place was perfect for the four of us, convenient walk to everywhere we wanted to go. The apartment was clean, well appointed, and the host was extremely communicative and gave us great suggestions of places to check out in town. 10/10 recommend!

I enjoyed a weekend away here with a few girlfriends and we were beyond impressed with this property! We immediately noticed how clean it was upon check-in. It looks even better than the pictures and the location is walkable to numerous shops and restaurants. An added bonus was enjoying coffee at the cafe that was right below us. I can’t say enough good things about our weekend here and I would absolutely stay here again!

This is a beautiful condo in downtown Portsmouth. Walking distance to just about everything. There is a nice coffee shop downstairs and so many restaurants within minutes. We could hear the music from the Press Room both Friday and Saturday nights, but that's part of the charm of being downtown. Laurie C.

This space was impeccably clean and exactly as described. So close to everything and metered on street parking was easy with long term free parking just a short distance away(cars come and go constantly so finding a spot only took a few min each time). Darryl responded in a professional, timely manner. The listing only showed a washer as the dryer was inoperable(def my oversight). We washed clothes anyway and draped them over the deck furniture. Being on the top floor there's plenty of sunshine and breezes. The early morning sun is bright in the loft bedroom. The view across the historic district roofs was beautiful. We enjoyed the sound of in-town bustling(the nightlife is accurately described) and early morning smells from bakeries. Thank you Darryl. We'll definitely be back!

Great stay, would book again. Centrally located and walkable to shops and restaurants. It is on the 3rd floor so pack luggage that you can carry up two flights of stairs. Free parking was a few blocks away. We really enjoyed sitting out on the deck listening to the live music next door.

Even though we had a few hiccups with the temperature of the unit and the function of the gas stove, things were resolvedvery quickly and we had a fabulous time. The location is perfect for shopping and touring of downtown Portsmouth..
