2nd visit here, the lady at check in recognised me from previous stay. There's an Indian restaurant attached to this hotel and the food is dynamite!! Room clean, decor lovely

Stayed here twice on a recent visit to Yorkshire. Property is clean and central. We loved the bar down stairs and the close proximity to everything in town. Also loved that it is historical and the river Leven is a must see behind hotel. Beautiful place. Enjoyed this special town and hotel.

Amazingly friendly welcome. Heading up to the room through a fog of cigarette smoke did not bode well, but, happily, the room was immaculate. Service was second to none. Free parking in market square roght outside the hotel was a great bonus. Will definitely return to The Leven.

The price was good but the rooms are being slowly upgraded, the room we had was a bit tired but clean and comfortable. Service downstairs was patchy, new staff getting to grips with the job so no issue really. Food was very good, curry sharer was a long time coming but was very good.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location in the center of town with parking available. The hotel was under renovations which it was in desperate need of. Our room was clean but the shower had a great deal of mildew in the grout.

The hotel was in a excellent position with plenty of parking. Lots shops and pubs nearby. The room was clean and comfortable with a TV and tea and water provided. For the price it was good value. However the wash basin had cracks and a massive chip on the side. Never seen anything like it in all my stays in hotels I've been. Really unacceptable but because it was one night I let it go.
The hotel was in a excellent position with plenty of parking. Lots shops and pubs nearby. The room was clean and comfortable with a TV and tea and water provided. For the price it was good value. The Leven served our purpose for a 2 night stay to attend a family gathering. The bed in our room was very comfortable however the bathroom was very dated. The shower in the bath was difficult to get in & out of with nothing to hold onto to avoid slipping. The other amenities were sufficient but also dated. We had 3 rooms and they all seemed to be in different stages of refurbishment. The corridor to the rooms was very uneven and drab. The carpet was faded, rucked up and in places threadbare. The banister on the first flight of stairs was coming out of the wall and very unsafe. We did try and eat in the restaurant when we arrived on the Friday evening but were told they stopped serving at 9pm which we thought was quite early for the weekend. There was also a very strong smell of weed coming from the passage drifting up to all the bedrooms around 10:30pm. I did try to use the hairdryer in our room but it made a terrible noise and smell when I turned it on so turned it off immediately. I left it out on the side intending to inform the receptionist when we checked out but unfortunately there was no one on the desk when we left. We would stay again as it’s convenient for us but hope to get one of the updated rooms.

Hotel is undergoing 'light renovations' which it does need and you can clearly see some of the improvements already. The bed was very uncomfortable though.. wooden frames it felt like through the mattress. It was perfectly located, good wifi and no issues with service whatsoever. Good value.

good clean room. lovely shower room ensuite. no lift. very pleasant staff. easy check-in. pity no breakfast but plenty of good eateries nearby. overall a good basic hotel and would stay here again

I can’t complain at the price last minute. On arrival it looked very nice, ample of parking when the markets aren’t on. The ‘bar’ downstairs looked nice and refurbished. The hotel has signed on doors and says sorry for the inconvenience for light renovation and tbh it needs a lot more than a little refurbishment. The corridor was tired carpet fraying walls not been painted old doors for entering rooms The room we stayed in was good size and had been refurbished apart from the moldy The shower head was black and mould all in the bath and tiles, and there was a massive crack in the sink! Amenities were lovely so that was nice even a bottle of water which was surprising. Curtains would’ve been a better choice the blind didn’t block the light. I also wanted to comment about returning to the property after the wedding we attended. We were greater at 11pm with around 20 people intoxicated outside the back saying you won’t sleep tonight here were here all night. Must have been 3am when we got to sleep. The windows could do with an update, it didn’t block out any noise at all!

Had a very nice overnight stay. Just 2 points to note though, our room bathroom sink had small hole in it, and water leaking on floor when used. Also shower should have a non slip mat on bath floor as i have recently broke my wrist due to slipping.

Been staying here for years under different management. It is being refurbished for a while. But you cannot excuse some basic things. Wifi not working The Leven guest. On business you need to connect and work. Only on leaving i see a small chalk board connect to staff wifi. In bathroom crack in sink, a foot long mould on the seal, can’t miss it. Toiletries, half full and used little bottle. Basic simple fixes.

The location was ideal. Whilst food was not served there were several pubs/restaurants/takeaways within close proximity. The whole experience was marred by the fact that there was blood on the bedclothes which I only discovered late evening when already over tired. Hence I did not raise this with staff and in the morning there were no staff on check out. Ver disappointed and I would welcome feedback

Lovely looking room with newly fitted bathroom suite including bath and decent walk-in shower which unfortunately didn't work. Room could have been cleaner - cobwebs dotted about, Radiator didn't work so had to use the portable heater, went to open the window and the handle fell off, kettle needs to be held onto the base otherwise it doesn't work - in summary this looks good but quality is not great, bed was relatively comfy though and room was quiet so had a good nights sleep - I'm by no means complaining as only paid £17 thanks to some hotel vouchers but would have been really disappointed if I'd paid normal price. No breakfast option, which we knew when booking and plenty of places in town to grab a decent bite to eat. This is the only hotel option in Stokesley as far as we know and could be great if there was more attention to detail and maintenance.

The room, radiator not working, the thermostat was on the floor. I put is back on, didn't work. They new this as they left a heater in the room, also the towel rail on full blast to heat the room. We had to change rooms at 10pm that night. The room they put us in was excellent, newly refurbed. I travel for leisure and business twice a month, these are shocking. The company's method of data gathering when booking, they bombard you by text and emails to register before arrival, ok, but then they want to you to scan you ID, passport or driving licence. I have never been asked for ID in the UK. When I arrived, I was not asked for ID. this is Data harvesting. Don't upload.

No breakfast option, which we knew when booking and plenty of places in town to grab a decent bite to eat. Hotel is undergoing 'light renovations' which it does need and you can clearly see some of the improvements already. The bed was very uncomfortable though.. wooden frames it felt like through the mattress. It was perfectly located, good wifi and no issues with service whatsoever. Good value.

I can’t complain at the price last minute. On arrival it looked very nice, ample of parking when the markets aren’t on. The ‘bar’ downstairs looked nice and refurbished. The hotel has signed on doors and says sorry for the inconvenience for light renovation and tbh it needs a lot more than a little refurbishment. The corridor was tired carpet fraying walls not been painted old doors for entering rooms The room we stayed in was good size and had been refurbished apart from the moldy The shower head was black and mould all in the bath and tiles, and there was a massive crack in the sink! Amenities were lovely so that was nice even a bottle of water which was surprising. Curtains would’ve been a better choice the blind didn’t block the light. I also wanted to comment about returning to the property after the wedding we attended. We were greater at 11pm with around 20 people intoxicated outside the back saying you won’t sleep tonight here were here all night. Must have been 3am when we got to sleep. The windows could do with an update, it didn’t block out any noise at all!

The Leven served our purpose for a 2 night stay to attend a family gathering. The bed in our room was very comfortable however the bathroom was very dated. The shower in the bath was difficult to get in & out of with nothing to hold onto to avoid slipping. The other amenities were sufficient but also dated. We had 3 rooms and they all seemed to be in different stages of refurbishment. The corridor to the rooms was very uneven and drab. The carpet was faded, rucked up and in places threadbare. The banister on the first flight of stairs was coming out of the wall and very unsafe. We did try and eat in the restaurant when we arrived on the Friday evening but were told they stopped serving at 9pm which we thought was quite early for the weekend. There was also a very strong smell of weed coming from the passage drifting up to all the bedrooms around 10:30pm. I did try to use the hairdryer in our room but it made a terrible noise and smell when I turned it on so turned it off immediately. I left it out on the side intending to inform the receptionist when we checked out but unfortunately there was no one on the desk when we left. We would stay again as it’s convenient for us but hope to get one of the updated rooms.

The hotel was in a excellent position with plenty of parking. Lots shops and pubs nearby. The room was clean and comfortable with a TV and tea and water provided. For the price it was good value. However the wash basin had cracks and a massive chip on the side. Never seen anything like it in all my stays in hotels I've been. Really unacceptable but because it was one night I let it go.

The location was ideal. Whilst food was not served there were several pubs/restaurants/takeaways within close proximity. The whole experience was marred by the fact that there was blood on the bedclothes which I only discovered late evening when already over tired. Hence I did not raise this with staff and in the morning there were no staff on check out. Ver disappointed and I would welcome feedback

The Leven is superbly situated in a lovely Yorkshire market town. The river Leven runs close behind the hotel with beautiful walks. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was bright and cheerful.

The price was good but the rooms are being slowly upgraded, the room we had was a bit tired but clean and comfortable. Service downstairs was patchy, new staff getting to grips with the job so no issue really. Food was very good, curry sharer was a long time coming but was very good.

Lovely looking room with newly fitted bathroom suite including bath and decent walk-in shower which unfortunately didn't work. Room could have been cleaner - cobwebs dotted about, Radiator didn't work so had to use the portable heater, went to open the window and the handle fell off, kettle needs to be held onto the base otherwise it doesn't work - in summary this looks good but quality is not great, bed was relatively comfy though and room was quiet so had a good nights sleep - I'm by no means complaining as only paid £17 thanks to some hotel vouchers but would have been really disappointed if I'd paid normal price. It was a very pleasant stay. With a possible difficulty with parking due to the fair. ( Expedia did not inform us about this) As it happened we had to park on the outskirts of the town and had a10 minute walk. Free continental breakfast a pleasant surprise.

We paid £113 for an overnight stay and we were really disappointed. The windows wouldn’t close properly and it was freezing. The carpets had no runners so were all loose and unsecure. The door to our room had a gap of about 3 inches one end down to nothing at the other end. The door handle had been swapped to the other side and a block of wood had been put in the hole where the handle had originally been it wasn’t filled or painted over .We had been at a family wedding and other people stayed in better hotels with breakfast included for less money. I would expect more for the money and would not book here again or recommend to others.

I was not expecting much from this stay above a bar, but I would not stay there again. Pros: I was surprised by how nice the room was - spacious, well-equipped and clean. The receptionist offered to swap my room when she saw that I was using a walking stick and realised we were on the top floor. Cons: Very noisy! Thumping music until 12:45am, then an hour of drunken shouting while people left the premises. Also woken before 7am by market traders setting up their stalls. My husband, who was out for an evening in Stokesley, forgot to lock the door when he came in, and I was disturbed by a man entering our room sometime around 11pm-midnight. Luckily he was scared away by me shouting at him, but it was quite a scary experience! The hotel corridors are undergoing 'limited renovation' and are a bit grim, with damp patches, torn carpets and paint flakes. There are lots of narrow stairs up to the rooms.

My husband, who was out for an evening in Stokesley, forgot to lock the door when he came in, and I was disturbed by a man entering our room sometime around 11pm-midnight. Luckily he was scared away by me shouting at him, but it was quite a scary experience! The hotel corridors are undergoing 'limited renovation' and are a bit grim, with damp patches, torn carpets and paint flakes. There are lots of narrow stairs up to the rooms.

Me and my partner stayed over in the Leven for just one night and were amazed by how gorgeous the room was. It was spotless, the bathroom was spacious and had both a bath and a shower and there was a kettle to make tea or coffee. The bed was incredibly comfortable and it was an overall lovely experience. The only downside was music being played into the night but that’s what you get for staying in a town on a Friday night I suppose so I don’t blame the hotel. The room definitely gave a cottage-y vibe which was nice as it went with the scenic background of Stokesley and the village itself. We would definitely stay here again.
