This is a lovely hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast room has a fabulous view of the Thames. It is easy to walk to the centre of Richmond or there is a bus stop close by. We were not seeking any spa facilities, which this hotel does not have on its premises but had a very enjoyable stay.

Fabulous hotel in a quiet area within walking distance of the main downtown area. Has a lovely restaurant on sight, the most amazing staircase and the staff are tremendous help! Absolutely loved my stay here, would return in a heartbeat.

Very comfortable room, posh hotel in a beautiful setting with Thames River walks just 2 minutes away. Rates were surprisingly reasonable given the location. Will definitely stay here next time we are in town. Restaurant was a little pricey and had limited selections for dinner, but the food was great and the view from the dining room is unsurpassed.

It was our second time at the Petersham and we loved it as much this time as last time. We love that it is privately owned and not part of a chain. Our room was exactly as we expected - well decorated, clean and welcoming. The breakfast is great and it’s nice to have table service instead of a buffet for a change. Lovely location and free parking too! Our only complaint was not enough water pressure in the shower. We’ll definitely return.

The hotel was easy to find and had good parking. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. Reception staff were a bit hard work. I stayed 2 nights which I booked separately. The first night was room 151 on the ground floor. Accessible with great facilities and a really nice modern bathroom, with a great power shower. I stayed in 32degree heat which the UK isn’t designed for! The window didn’t open but it had air con (clicks all night) and two fans and we were comfortable. The second night I stayed alone, so had a cosy single (it lived up to its name!) in room 320. 3rd floor, more traditional, pathetic shower over a bath that took a good 5 minutes for the water to warm up. No air con but a big sash window that opened wide… onto scaffolding. So a fan with a closed window felt safest and it was hot. Workmen outside my window at 8am made me glad I’d shut it though. Breakfast is delicious. Evening meals are limited choice on the club menu but also good. They do add a 13.5% service charge to your bill. The August offer of dinner, bed and breakfast for 2 is good value for money. The hotel is in easy walking distance of Richmond, with nice walks along the Thames and meadows on your doorstep. Overall I’d stay again but maybe not in a heatwave.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Petersham Hotel, located just 25 minutes from central London. Beautiful place with stylish rooms at a very reasonable price. I cut my foot on a glass shard left in the bathroom which is not expected and the only issue I had with the hotel was the female Spanish receptionist was a little less apologetic than expected. Not her fault of course, said the right words but gave the impression she did not believe me. I wasn’t fishing for compensation but a gesture would have been appreciated. Nothing crazy like a free room, but a glass of Champagne on next visit or an upgrade, perhaps. Apart from that - great place.

This is lovely historic hotel in the charming town of Richmond. The staff, including the gracious maitre’d at breakfast, were attentive and did their utmost to ensure a comfortable stay. I stayed in both a single room (cozy with a full-sized bed) and a larger king room and was pleased with the amenities, bathrooms, linens and beds in both. Breakfast in the dining room overlooking the river was a delight with starched white linen, china, friendly servers, and excellent food. (Tried the vegan breakfast, though, and think it can be much improved upon. More spice and a bit of veggie meat will do wonders.) And speaking of Petersham, I highly recommend a visit to Petersham Nursery and café just short walk away from the property. Overall, I (we) had a wonderful stay and will be back!

Beautiful location and building. Clean, comfortable, quiet room with plenty of space and good bathroom. Walking distance to Richmond Riverside and town with straightforward access via car & public transport to Central London. It was great to take a city-break and have woodland outside the window (complete with Tawny owls).

A lovely stay at The Petersham. Would have easily given 5 stars if some sort of air conditioning was available. Mini heatwave whilst we were there and unfortunately the fan available was not adequate for overnight. I understand it is most probably a listed building and regular air conditions would not be appropriate, but free standing units are available, ie Dyson

Building is amazing room 212 has views over looking the park and river you either stand on the balcony and look out of you have a big bay window to look out off was fantastic especially as it was our 1st wedding anniversary we wanted somewhere special and this lived up to expectations the bar was quite but the the barman was attentive to getting our drinks and bringing them over

Rooms were very comfortable and food was excellent. Breakfast was super tasty and parking was plenty. Staff exceptionally friendly and accommodating. One thing they need to install is air conditioning in the rooms - it was not yet peak summer and the rooms were already over-heating. Thanks for the great stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others. The views the hotel has over the estate and river are also unmatched - great for special events.

A very small room, one of the smallest I have ever stayed in. The heat was unbearable with no air conditioning or temperature control. I had to keep the windows fully open every night which meant constant noise because the hotel sits on the Heathrow flight path.

The staff and property were extremely professional and very well maintained. It maintained many of its historic charm while it appears they have had a recent modernization. Unfortunately our room was unsatisfactory; I had purchased a Jr Suite. The suite was awkwardly built. It had a very small seating area and a bedroom that held a king size bed, but there was little space around it. The room (121) is immediately on top of reception, and faces the parking lot, with no view of the river. We heard conversations from reception until 10pm, drunken returns to the hotel until 1am, and the gentle ring of the flag halyard banging against the flag pole in the wind all night Our room had NO AIR CONDITIONING. Fortunately, it was a cool night, and we had to keep the windows open all night, exacerbating to noise issue further. The hotel is beautiful, staff incredible, and location ideal. Simply make sure you get a suite on the second floor or above.

The location is superb and the entrance to the hotel is very beautiful. I am not sure why but I didn't love my stay and probably wouldnt stay again. I found the staff were aloof, possibly snobbish and not very friendly. The breakfast was lovely.

The Petersham was a perfect stop on our longer journey. The hotel is in a beautiful and walkable area of Richmond, close to the river, shops, pubs and restaurants. The hotel itself clearly has a lot of history and as such is an older building. When we visited it was incredibly hot and the hotel has no air-conditioning except in the restaurant. The staff were wonderful and the restaurant staff in particular helped us navigate our gluten free dietary requirements safely. I would definitely stay again, but may choose somewhere with a.c in the summer.

I love staying at the Petersham and always stay here when I come to London. The service is excellent and all the rooms are unique and charming. The views of the river are gorgeous. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk to get into the town of Richmond with plenty of restaurants and shops, but you can easily walk along the river and enjoy the views. I will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This is lovely historic hotel in the charming town of Richmond. The staff, including the gracious maitre’d at breakfast, were attentive and did their utmost to ensure a comfortable stay. I stayed in both a single room (cozy with a full-sized bed) and a larger king room and was pleased with the amenities, bathrooms, linens and beds in both. Breakfast in the dining room overlooking the river was a delight with starched white linen, china, friendly servers, and excellent food. (Tried the vegan breakfast, though, and think it can be much improved upon. More spice and a bit of veggie meat will do wonders.) And speaking of Petersham, I highly recommend a visit to Petersham Nursery and café just short walk away from the property. Overall, I (we) had a wonderful stay and will be back!

This is a lovely hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast room has a fabulous view of the Thames. It is easy to walk to the centre of Richmond or there is a bus stop close by. We were not seeking any spa facilities, which this hotel does not have on its premises but had a very enjoyable stay.

Although the Petersham is not really within easy walking distance of the train station, the view was superlative; the surrounding area was beautiful, and the hotel was classy. The staff were impeccably helpful and friendly. Because of a rail strike, we had to leave early, but I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat. Gorgeous!

Fantastic property, accommodations and service. Set along the River Thames, you can walk to all the shopping and dining Richmond has to offer, or take the Bus which stops directly in front of the hotel driveway.

Fabulous hotel in a quiet area within walking distance of the main downtown area. Has a lovely restaurant on sight, the most amazing staircase and the staff are tremendous help! Absolutely loved my stay here, would return in a heartbeat.

Convenient location to visit Kew gardens ( the reason we choose Richmond) as it was only a ten min. bus ride right from near the hotel. Nice views from property and a 5min walk to Richmond Park and 10 min walk to the lively scene in "downtown" Richmond with it's many restaurants and bars.Great walking paths nearby not just in Richmond Park but also along the Thames which you can access from the Hotel in 5min. Only ate breakfast in the dining room which had an overly fancy, bit stuffy vibe to it mostly do to the incessant, awful, super mellow Hotel music in the background! Classic English breakfast was fine.

Excellent hotel, have stayed numerous times when I don’t want to be in central London. Short stroll to the station and into London quickly, and then back to tranquility and a lovely hotel afterwards. Lovely views of the river.

Beautiful location and building. Clean, comfortable, quiet room with plenty of space and good bathroom. Walking distance to Richmond Riverside and town with straightforward access via car & public transport to Central London. It was great to take a city-break and have woodland outside the window (complete with Tawny owls).

I booked a Deluxe Room which has a balcony and a stunning view. The best thing about the hotel was the view - it is unrivalled. However, the quality of the food, both in range of options and quality of breakfast, was sub standard. Breakfast was £24 - the quality of the food used was not great, pastries were hard, toast was cold. The continental breakfast was below standard - there were two slices of cheese, two chunks of brie, and some jamon serrano as the "meat and cheese selection". The bathroom suite was a good size but a little dated in its decor. We had to eat out for dinner as the restaurant options were very limited. The staff were very friendly to their credit.

Lovely property (with a price tag that reflects it!) But very disappointed that they add a service charge without telling you on your room bill. We ordered no food and had no additional services (didnt even call reception!) So was confused what this was for. Turns out the hotel is trying to add a tip for a room stay to supplement wages. Just pay your staff properly and don't try and push it on to the customer to make that decision. Left a sour taste and wouldnt come back as aresult.

Very comfortable room, posh hotel in a beautiful setting with Thames River walks just 2 minutes away. Rates were surprisingly reasonable given the location. Will definitely stay here next time we are in town. Restaurant was a little pricey and had limited selections for dinner, but the food was great and the view from the dining room is unsurpassed.

I booked dinner for 7:30 but after checking in found out that the restaurant was only serving a limited menu with just a commi chef. This was very disappointing be use I could have been told when I booked the room and then another opportunity missed when I booked dinner…. All reception staff hid the factvtheir restaurant was effectively closed.

Unfortunately only able to stay for one night but the location was excellent. Staff were very helpful and our room was ready ahead of time. Didn’t eat in the hotel and had to leave early for a pick up at Heathrow so missed breakfast. Visited the bar and had drinks on the terrace which was excellent. Will visit again as soon as we are able!

The hotel is beautifully situated, overlooking the Thames - hard to believe youre in a busy area. Great for visiting Richmond. No air conditioning however, and in high summer, in the heat London endures, you don't want to stay here. Staff are good, but there are service charges added for much on the bill, apart from the overall optional service charge. One other thing. Breakfast is £34, £31 if ordered the night before. Dont bother with it. Its not anything special, and its same price for a mediocre continental breakfast OR a mediocre cooked.
