Wow! They have everything you need with in the large property. Natural hot springs, waterfalls, horse riding, zip lining and tubing. The property is well maintained and the grounds are beautiful. I saw so many birds and parrots in the trees right by my room. I will definitely stay their again. Things to know: It’s far from any outside restaurants or supermarkets so be prepared to rate at the two restaurants, bar and cafe.

Our stay was great. The property is beautiful. Service friendly and helpful. One area of improvement would be the free shuttle - it needs to be updated. It was an old school bus and a very long bumpy ride to attractions. I did appreciate that the adventure centre could arrange for private cars but it costed additional $15usd to get to each place on the property or national park (then $15 usd back).

Un peu isolé, l'hôtel est idéalement placé au départ des randonnées du parc Rincón de la Vieja. Très calme, bien équipé -piscine, jacuzzi- et avec un personnel attentif, il est aussi très étendu. Pour certaines chambres, il faut repartir de la réception en voiture. Le spa est à 3km. Les bains chauds à 5km. La restauration est copieuse mais assez chère.

Beautiful spot. It’s full of forests, wildlife, trails, and swimming holes. There are also many adventure tour options to choose from. The road to get there is paved and gentle, which is nice. You’ll want to have a WhatsApp account to communicate with the hotel. The grounds are HUGE and the hotel map misleading. You’ll be happy to have your own car here. The hot springs, spa, national park, and trailhead to the tallest waterfall are all a 10 minute drive away from the rooms. You can arrange rides with the hotel, but that would get old really quickly. The hot springs also are a 5 minute walk from the parking area, and they stop letting people in at 6pm, so plan ahead. It’s a shame you can’t soak after dinner. A great time to soak is after breakfast. Afternoon is the worst time to soak. We did a thermal circuit spa treatment, and it felt great. The rooms are nice. The food is great. Breakfast is buffet style with a lot of options. The main restaurant requires a dinner reservation, so we had dinner at the cafe instead, and the food was great. The staff is very friendly. Overall, it’s a great choice for the area.

Beautiful huge property, modern clean rooms, good restaurants and fantastic activities (we did canyoning, rafting, canopying: this is actually thru a river canyon, incredibly beautiful, hot baths). The highest quality activities we have experienced on our many trips. Also close to national park Rincon de la Vieja, for great hiking. Can't say enough good things.

The trails are real singletrack mountain biking trails. We went out for 3 hours and barely covered a quarter of the terrain. The waterfalls on the grounds are amazing. The variety of birds was amazing! It's best to have a car here because the best waterfall and the hot springs are a drive away. And the breakfast buffet was phenomenal: omelets made to order, pastries, fresh orange juice, fesh fruit, yogurt, granola, and hot food like fried plantains, stewed chicken, roasted yams etc. And everything is gluten-free - celiac heaven :-)

We strongly recommend this property for families looking to experience a bit of forest resort life in Costa Rica. Regarding the hotel itself, the bathroom was excellent - strong water pressure and high-quality toiletries. The staff were very responsive; they immediately fixed the wifi after we let them know it wasn't working and delivered blankets after reception hours. Breakfast was outstanding with a buffet of hot, cold, sweet, and savory options (there was also an omelette bar). There was a fridge but no microwave (we booked a superior room). This resort shines in its waterfalls and thermal springs. The trails to the waterfalls were impeccably maintained with attendants on hand to keep an eye on cars, take family pictures, and monitor belongings if you would like to take a dip. The thermal pools (10 pools, volcanic mud, 2 cold showers) were outstanding; there are towels and lockers available at the trailhead and attendants watching over your belongings at the actual pools. The locker rooms to change into swimsuits were well-maintained and appointed. You can book all kinds of activities at reception, but we found the included ones to be sufficient.

This was the final leg of our trip to Northern West Costa Rica. It was nice to settle down at Hacienda Guachepelin knowing we could just stay put for a bit. The Hotel is right next to the entry to Ricón de la Vieja National Park. It is on extensive grounds and has beautiful views and many activities including tubing, horseback riding, zip-lining, hiking and relaxing in hot springs and waterfalls. We took an easy guided horse back ride to La Oropendola Waterfall which is an impressive 25 meters. We also visited the hot springs, but were less impressed, the pools were somewhat murky and too hot for the day so we did not stay long. We took a short hike to additional waterfalls near the hot springs, which was nice. Breakfast was included in our stay which was good and appreciated. We also had dinner at the main restaurant which was fine. Our hotel room was basic but very comfortable.

Beautiful property surrounded by nature. Staff was friendly. It’s a very quiet area and you have walking access to easy trails and just a short drive to other spots like the national park (fee required). The Oropendola waterfall was free to access with your hotel stay - highly recommend, short drive. The hot springs is also included in your stay which is a must. We took the latest free shuttle bus over (5:30PM) because we didn’t want to drive in the dark and it was perfect - there was nobody there. Free breakfast was wonderful, enjoyed the food and fresh fruits. They have three restaurants onsite which was good but pricey. There’s nothing else in the area for dining options and the resort is quite secluded so I guess that’s a factor. The rooms were clean, nothing fancy, felt like I was staying in an older cottage. We saw a lot of different species of birds and monkeys in the national park, it was incredible. I would recommend this property if you want to check out the national park and want easy access

This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I loved the upgraded superior room we stayed in. The room had everything we could ask for-- a private yard with hammock, room safe, espresso machine, tv, ice-cold a/c, wonderful smelling hand soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner, blow dryer, hand mirror, closet with hangers, bedside reading lamps, and stocked refridge. Anytime we called the front desk for something, the staff attended to our needs in record time. I fell and scraped my knee during our visit and the attendant was right there to help. Later, my knee was cleaned and bandaged a second time by a nurse on the property. We did their horseback riding and tubing excursion. I was very impressed by how many tour guides there were to make sure we had a safe experience. The food was awesome-- plenty of options and the buffet breakfast was the best I've ever had in Costa Rica and I've been four times. You've got to try the granola! The highlight of the property is Oropendola Waterfall! Absolutely exhilarating!

Ranch-lile setting on edge of Vincon de la Vieja park. Pool is small but nice - great view of volcano. Room with 2 king beds was huge and clean. Would have liked more towels. Air conditioning was powerful. Not supposed to out toilet paper in toilet. Saw a ton of awesome birds off our back porch. Unfortunately, the staff building was behind us so we had to listen to their tv/radio. Food was passable at best. Staff service at meals was ok. Before you book one of their adventure tours, ask for details. We thought wed signed up for a driving tour of local waterfalls. The guide didn't mention that we'd be crossing 3 rivers barefoot, or that we'd be walking 6 miles on rough terrain in 95 degree weather. And that is ending our tour quite early because we were exhausted. When we asked him about the rest of the tour, he grossly downplayed the distance/time remaining. This may be right up your alley - just be clear on the specifocs because their website description wasn't accurate in our case.

This was a beautiful and very peaceful property. The foliage, vegetation, hummingbirds, and butterflies were extraordinary. Rooms were comfortable and just what you'd expect at an ecolodge. Adventures were top notch. It was enjoyable hiking to the hot springs and waterfalls. We had a blast on the horseback tour and white water tubing adventures.

The hotel was close to many different activities such as hikes to waterfalls, national park, eco adventures, etc. The buffet was very tasty along with the other dinner meals we had. Rooms were a little out dated and the walls were thin, but nonetheless a nice presentation. Pillows were a little thick and the bed was decent.

An der Unterkunft führt aufgrund der Lage eigentlich kein Weg vorbei, wenn man Aktivitäten im Nationalpark Rincon de la Vieja unternehmen will. Zudem hat man als Gast kostenlosen Zugang zu den Hotpools, die sich ebenfalls auf den mehreren Hektar großen Grundstück, das zu den Hotel gehört befinden und für die ansonsten rund 30 Euro pro Personen zu zahlen sind. Schöner warmer Pool und schön angelegte Anlage. Ausstattung der Zimmer ist hingegen eher zweckmäßig und die Doppelbetten sind mit ca 1,40 Breite eher für frisch verliebte geeignet. Das Standardrestaurant ist nichts tolles aber das a la carte Restaurant und die dazugehörigen Feuerstellen sind sehr zu empfehlen.

Very convenient with lots of activities to do. Super safe and clean. Also close to national park and La Leona (by car). Included activities are cool. Tubing is the best everdone anywhere! (Not included but worth it) A bit lack of intimacy as neighbours are very close and you can ear them talk in their room. Food is good but a bit expensive and no other choice around.

VIP access? Did not receive anything. Room was old - early 2000s, only stayed at the hotel for about 10 hours. Nothing special - 3 stars at most. The surrounding areas are nice but pale in comparison to Yellowstone or even the Azores.

We enjoyed our stay at Hacienda Guachipellin. It was a great value for the price and had wonderful amenities. We thought the staff was a little inattentive and the restaurant was bland at best. The tours were a blast but a little disorganized. Definitely do the tubing which was super fun.

Had the feel of a 3 star Mexican resort. Lots of potential, but something was off. Stayed for two nights at the end of three weeks in Costa Rica. Family of five, with kids aged 6-7. We chose this hotel due to proximity to the airport. Pros- enjoyed the mud bath, hot springs, mountain biking and waterfall hikes. Nice that it was included with the hotel stay. Breakfast was good with lots of fresh fruit. Cons- rooms were basic, restaurant service was extremely slow (ex. 35 minutes for nachos), it seemed like we were inconveniencing the staff whenever we ordered food or drinks, pool bar only had one waiter for tons of people, food was reasonably priced but the cocktails were extremely expensive. Lots of day trippers here and the place seems to cater to them, making it lack something special for hotel guests. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or stay there again.

Front desk very un professional and rude. It's was a terrible stay I did not got room upgrade cause it's was hotel was full. I had extra a guess I had to pay for other room across building. Would I stay again no would I recommend to some else no. It's all about the Money. Expedia should not have this hotel top rate it. That was my ipionon and and experience.

NEVER AGAIN !!! WHAT A SHAME Hotel is pricey. Dinner at their restaurant ( super expensive) not that good but service pretty nice. then comes the time of the check out. They asked me to pay the restaurant a second time, i litteraly paid right after the meal, but in cash so no proof. After close to one hour , 6 ppl and checking the cameras they found out that yes, we paid. I had a flight to take , lost one hour for nothing. Didn't spend a nice honeymoon there. Servers tought it was a tip, but we gave a little bit more that the amount. I am fuming and i will say to everyone no to go there.

We strongly recommend this property for families looking to experience a bit of forest resort life in Costa Rica. Regarding the hotel itself, the bathroom was excellent - strong water pressure and high-quality toiletries. The staff were very responsive; they immediately fixed the wifi after we let them know it wasn't working and delivered blankets after reception hours. Breakfast was outstanding with a buffet of hot, cold, sweet, and savory options (there was also an omelette bar). There was a fridge but no microwave (we booked a superior room). This resort shines in its waterfalls and thermal springs. The trails to the waterfalls were impeccably maintained with attendants on hand to keep an eye on cars, take family pictures, and monitor belongings if you would like to take a dip. The thermal pools (10 pools, volcanic mud, 2 cold showers) were outstanding; there are towels and lockers available at the trailhead and attendants watching over your belongings at the actual pools. The locker rooms to change into swimsuits were well-maintained and appointed. You can book all kinds of activities at reception, but we found the included ones to be sufficient.

This was the final leg of our trip to Northern West Costa Rica. It was nice to settle down at Hacienda Guachepelin knowing we could just stay put for a bit. The Hotel is right next to the entry to Ricón de la Vieja National Park. It is on extensive grounds and has beautiful views and many activities including tubing, horseback riding, zip-lining, hiking and relaxing in hot springs and waterfalls. We took an easy guided horse back ride to La Oropendola Waterfall which is an impressive 25 meters. We also visited the hot springs, but were less impressed, the pools were somewhat murky and too hot for the day so we did not stay long. We took a short hike to additional waterfalls near the hot springs, which was nice. Breakfast was included in our stay which was good and appreciated. We also had dinner at the main restaurant which was fine. Our hotel room was basic but very comfortable.

Un peu isolé, l'hôtel est idéalement placé au départ des randonnées du parc Rincón de la Vieja. Très calme, bien équipé -piscine, jacuzzi- et avec un personnel attentif, il est aussi très étendu. Pour certaines chambres, il faut repartir de la réception en voiture. Le spa est à 3km. Les bains chauds à 5km. La restauration est copieuse mais assez chère.

Beautiful spot. It’s full of forests, wildlife, trails, and swimming holes. There are also many adventure tour options to choose from. The road to get there is paved and gentle, which is nice. You’ll want to have a WhatsApp account to communicate with the hotel. The grounds are HUGE and the hotel map misleading. You’ll be happy to have your own car here. The hot springs, spa, national park, and trailhead to the tallest waterfall are all a 10 minute drive away from the rooms. You can arrange rides with the hotel, but that would get old really quickly. The hot springs also are a 5 minute walk from the parking area, and they stop letting people in at 6pm, so plan ahead. It’s a shame you can’t soak after dinner. A great time to soak is after breakfast. Afternoon is the worst time to soak. We did a thermal circuit spa treatment, and it felt great. The rooms are nice. The food is great. Breakfast is buffet style with a lot of options. The main restaurant requires a dinner reservation, so we had dinner at the cafe instead, and the food was great. The staff is very friendly. Overall, it’s a great choice for the area.

Charming, beautiful grounds, close to the volcano, waterfalls, hot springs, pretty pool area with volcano views. Drawbacks were that it was remote enough to make it hard to dine elsewhere and even though all of the food is grown and cooked on the grounds, we really liked some dishes and really didn’t prefer others.

Amazing property with a great lake view and beautiful plants. Was able to see lots of animals including toucans, monkeys, iguanas, horses, cows, pigs, and a dog with a mohawk! Restaurant serves farm to table food that is exceptional. It also has on onsite brewery, and well located for day excursions. Staff are very warm and friendly.

Beautiful property with a lot of activities to enjoy and magical sites to explore. This includes a pool, hiking trails, several waterfalls and natural pools in the river, and the hot springs and mineral mud. Nice variety of tours too- the horseback riding/ tubing combo trip was fantastic! We loved the convenience of everything on the property! The breakfast buffet was very good, beds were comfortable, and service was helpful. We liked it so much, we extended our stay.

This felt like a luxury resort because so many things around the hotel are included in the price...the natural hot springs, the walking trails to waterfalls, etc. The restaurant on the property was nice. The breakfast had made to order omelets and a buffet of great options. The property grounds are well-maintained and beautiful. This place had a luxury feel without the price.
