Wander through the French Quarter from a Treme Shotgun Home

The location is very good and easy to get around. If you like soft, cushy beds you will love these beds! My dogs we very comfortable there as well, parking was easy. The house is cute and had everything we needed for a four night stay. This is a duplex and both sides are rented out. You can hear the people on the other side talking and walking around. (no different than a hotel) We had a group of girls who came home around 3am feeling good and being loud! OK, it's New Orleans, that is to be expected and you have to just go with the flow. And I am sure they heard us when we got up around 7am as well. Our side of the house has a shared laundry room off of one of the bedrooms. It is shared by a few of the houses on the street and people come in from the back yard entrance. that means if someone wants to laundry at 6:30am on a Sunday morning they can (and they did) and you will hear them. If you are a sound sleeper, you will be just fine. Overall a great experience and there just are not a lot of owners that will take TWO dogs over 60 pounds so I am really grateful for that!

This was one of the best VRBO properties we have stayed at. The house was so beautiful. We did get a workout as we were about 8 blocks to Bourbon Street, but well worth it. 3 outside deck areas to enjoy. washer/dryer onsite, just outside back door. unit was stocked with everything we needed. All you have to do is bring your drinks and personal items.... and food if you don't plan to try all the local eateries. The owners live right next door and they were the nicest people. Dan and John answered all our questions right away, made suggestions and even hung out and chatted for a while. We give this 10+ stars!!! Loved our stay!

Comment vivre la vraie aventure de la Nouvelle-Orleans ailleurs que un logement typique de la ville? Maison traditionnelle divisée en deux logements. L’organisation est en enfilade, avec chambres traversantes chacunes ayant sa salle de bain. Le logement a une jolie décoration un peu masculine et festive. Nous y avons trouvé tout le nécessaire. A proximité : le parc Armstrong (5 minutes à pied), le quartier français 8-10 minutes), la ligne verte du tramway (10 minutes). Le parking est aisé juste devant le domicile. Dan a été très attentif et charmant. La ville reste marquée par quelques stigmates des ouragans mais on peut voir le courage et l’abnégation de ses habitants. Côté festif je n’ai entendu nos voisines qu’une fois rentrer assez tardivement très enthousiastes de leur soirée. Le wifi a été capricieux a deux ou trois reprises.

We loved this property! It is in the absolute perfect walking distance to everything. The property itself is in perfect condition, with lots of room to sit and relax or sit on the front or back porch. The kitchen has everything needed. The house is historic and well maintained, we had zero issues. Wifi worked without issue. Shared laundry if needed. The host was awesome.The interaction for check in and out were spot on, and the list of restaurants and suggestions were all valued. We loved it here and will return to it!

Overall, we loved the place. Super simple check-in and check-out. Had no issues finding the place, and the area seemed to be pretty safe. I wish the listing had more photos, because the house is smaller than I expected, nor did I know it was such a close duplex. You may encounter the people staying in the other side, and the backyard and laundry room are shared. I would've liked to know that prior to booking, since we were there for a bachelor trip and certainly weren’t quiet.(I think we irritated the family staying in the other side) Walking to the french quarter, and other new orleans neighborhoods was easy. Its not too far, so every walk is enjoyable. The area was beautiful. Also, the owner was also pretty chill, so that was also cool. 5/5 excellent place overall.

Lovely home with comfortable furniture, easy to find and loved the private courtyard out back! The clawfoot tubs were the best part, though!

We, unfortunately, had several issues with this listing. One of which forced us to leave. The issue that made us depart early was, unfortunately, related to the hosts themselves. They had friends over and music playing until 1:30 AM on the side patio connected to our bedroom. We texted 3 times asking them to quiet down. We received no response. This occurred 10 nights into our stay. As of now, we are still working to get a refund for the remaining 8 nights. Communication with the hosts had been good until we told them that we checked out and requested a refund for the remaining nights. Their response was to take it up with VRBO and to not call or text them again. VRBO of course wanted us to work out a refund with the hosts. Additional areas of concern: The listing does not mention that the rental property is actually a duplex. Both sides are rented by the hosts as short term rentals. The sides have their own entrance and are separated by a wall. In one room there is a locked door that separates them so the noise traveled very easily in this location. Even if you weren’t loud it was easy to hear people walking from one side of the rental to the other. The back patio and a laundry room is shared with the other STR. We had planned to work during the week and found the noise distracting for us. If you are bringing your dog(s), note that there are 6 Oleander Trees in the back patio. The hosts let us know the day before we arrived that these trees were in the patio and that the leaves are poisonous to dogs. This was a big concern for us and when we were there the patio was covered in the leaves and flowers of the Oleander Trees. The property was very dusty and dirty. We reached out to the hosts about this and they were very responsive. They organized a deep clean the next day. We did have to find another place to be with our dogs for half a day, but we appreciated the responsiveness. They did a good job but did not clean the dusty air vents. Probably because they are very high on the ceiling. In terms of general condition (at the time of our rental), the property has had some significant wear and tear since the photos in the listing in terms of chips and dents in the walls. There was a safety incident of concern. While we were in the property, the host was having a tense encounter with a woman who was on the porch or very close to the property. The host later texted that the woman was from the french quarter and on drugs and he had her arrested.

We are four senior travelers who were very excited to see New Orleans. Upon our arrival, Dan came out to meet us. He told us where to go eat and was very welcoming. We had been traveling from Arizona and needed to do laundry right away. To our surprise there was a note on the door saying, shared laundry and clothes piled all over the top of dryer. The lady next door happened to come out and i asked if they were hers, she said no. My husband went next door and knocked on Dan’s door as to inquire what we should do with the clothes. Dan immediately became rude because he knocked instead of ringing doorbell. He then asked me if I had went up and down the street knocking on doors? I replied, I haven’t knocked on any doors. They were his clothes!! We were not informed about a shared laundry. His listing is very misleading. This was a very different Dan than we had originally met. The house itself is a cute shotgun house, however it was filthy. I have sent photos so you can see for yourself. The listing said dishwasher and grill, which there was neither. The back of the house, which he describes as a veranda, was a different picture than what it is. The picture was of his back yard not this back yard!! I have enclosed pictures so you can see the rotting picnic table and benches, the messy patio, and the broken down bikes that were thrown against the broken down fence. We were intrigued by this Shotgun house which is an older house but in very good condition and very clean. We loved learning about the history of the quiet neighborhood from the owner himself. We even got to experience part of a jazz funeral at a nearby church! Coffee shops, restaurants, museums as well as the French Quarter are within walking distance. The WiFi was great for working remotely. Check-in and check-out were easy, too. Would definitely recommend this property and we plan to book it again next time we are in New Orleans.

Our neighbors got in around 10:30, argued a little, played with their large dog and did some laundry until about 1:30 in the morning, so really didnt sleep well, even with a sound machine. The backyard and laundry space is shared.

This was nice property only four blocks or so from the French Quarter, yet it was quiet and peaceful. We felt safe there. The home is in pretty good shape. When we needed certain kitchen untensils that weren't there, we told the owner and the utensils were there the same day. Very nice owner. Home is clean and comfortable. The beds are reasonably comfortable. Recommended property.

We stayed 2 nights (4 adults & 2 kids, 13 & 8 + 2 dogs!) Love pet friendly properties! We really enjoyed our time in NOLA! The house was an older property, charming, clean & well stocked with shampoo, lotion, coffee, sugar & water. The beds were super comfy and although we had issues with both the air mattresses deflating, Dan was quick to rectify the situation and deliver 2 new ones! A comfy fold out sofa bed would be the best solution for this house to comfortably sleep 6 and Dan & I discussed him getting one. It was a little bit of a walk to get to where we wanted to go (roughly about 15 minutes) but you could easily get an Uber. We would recommend leaving your car at the house. We would stay here again and highly recommend it for travelers wanting a pet friendly house for you & your pooches. Despite it being pet friendly, I didn’t see any evidence of dog hair. Highly recommended property!

Clean with ample supplies provided. Great location a walk to all that the French Quarter offers. The host Dan was great to deal with very accommodating. Parking in front is great. One bed had a spongy mattress but otherwise a perfect place to stay.

This is a lovely home set far enough away from the nightlife to catch your breath but easily accessible. We walked everywhere even home one night from Bourbon Street in the rain with kids. Nicely appointed with a blend of classics and updated decor. Streetcar is a few blocks away. Dan is lovely to work with - Very on top of things when I reached out about a small maintenance issue. Only drawback is that the back bedroom shares a door with property next door and the sound of conversations, coughs, and crying babies travels making it quite "intimate".

Deceptively spacious property but people need to be aware exactly what a shotgun house is - no corridor just one room adjoining another and therefore offering little privacy. Luckily we all know each other well!! The property gives a lovely authentic feeling of French Quarter living and overall it was fun and comfortable.

House! The host was GREAT! Gave amazing recommendations for cocktails, dinner, and entrainment! Only drawback was the shared wall neighbors fighting from 2AM to 7AM both nights. I guess we didn't drink enough to sleep through it ;0b. Life goals for next time!

We absolutely loved this place and Dan was super helpful and communicative. I would say the only thing that had not occurred to us is that you had to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the other one. But it is New Orleans, and it is a shotgun house! Otherwise, we were very comfortable, and Dan was very accommodating in every way.

The house *is* historic, so the floors are creaky and you can hear your neighbors (it's a duplex) if someone's renting the other unit, so maybe not ideal for super light sleepers, but we didn't mind. Nice location near tourist spots but in a historic residential location. Clean, neat and as advertised. One of the bedrooms also serves as the hallway from back bedroom to kitchen/living room. It was fine for us but good to know.

This is a cute house in the Marigny. It was clean and everything was working. It is very close to the freeway underpass, which isn't ideal but still okay. My main complaint is that the walls are paper thin (it's a house that has been divided into two) and you can hear the people next door as though they're in the room with you. The next door guests had two crying babies; so that wasn't ideal. I've stayed in the Marigny quite a few times and think you can do much better for the price.

The owners were super nice, and responded to my messages quickly! The house is about a 15 minute walk to Bourbon Street, the bedrooms are spacious, but it’s a shotgun house, so you have to walk through a bedroom to get to the second room. The second room is much warmer than the front room. There are two bathrooms, my only problem was the mattress. It was sunken on each side, so you sleep in a divet. Other than that we had a very nice stay!

This place is gorgeous! So much character, thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable. Dan was a brilliant host - responsive and gave loads of top tips about New Orleans which made our stay very memorable. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely first time visiting New Orleans thanks to Dan and his home and hospitality! We were fortunate enough to meet him in person after messaging back and forth. He is as kind and personable face to face as he is online. We enjoyed many of his recommendations of sight seeing and eating locations. He gave us historical background information on the spot which we enjoyed immensely! His home is conveniently located - we walked everywhere we went (except on one rainy morning) when we went to Cafe DuMonde's for beignets. So much architecture and color and texture to soak in! One of our top three visits in a Vrbo!

The residence itself exceeded our expectations. It is roomy, well appointed, and well maintained and compared to other places in the area reasonably priced. Check in and out is straightforward, but there's nobody on site for questions or help. Location is not so good. It's a pretty good walk to get to the French Quarter. Few restaurants, stores, activities nearby, except for the WWII Museum, which is very good.

The home was very quaint, clean and decorated eclectically exactly like the pictures. The backyard does not have any grass and there is a shared laundry room and front and back patio to the next door neighbors. The home is amongst a gentrification area that has rehab homes but still some sketchy homes and locals. We contacted the host to ask about safety in the area and he was very responsive to assure us in his experience he had not had any issues. In our experience we saw several homeless people near the street corner, lots of foot traffic late into the night and homeless and riff raff in the vacant lot and boarded house across the street. We also heard gun shots late at night about 2 streets over. Even though we traveled with our dog there wasn’t really an area to walk her to use the restroom and my husband didn’t feel safe taking her out at night very long. The home is easy to get to and off the highway about 1 block, we were able to find street parking in front of the home each time we left. We enjoyed the home overall and it looks exactly like the pictures, I just wish I researched the area more so we felt safer having our young child with us. The host is extremely responsive and kind.

This small duplex home was very cute and typical New Orleans style. Everything was comfortable and well-equipped. The host was very helpful and communicative during our stay. Location was convenient but it did take a little while to walk to and from the water front. The French Market is a 20 minute walk - very scenic. The Jackson Square area takes a bit longer to walk to. The benefit of being a little bit removed is that it is quieter.

The Treme shotgun cottage location is walkable to the Fairground (Jazz Fest), and the French Quarter what more do you need when you are in New Orleans? The Treme Coffee House and Li'l Dizzy's are around the corner, so it makes for a pleasant morning with coffee on the porch and satisfies lunch hunger for catfish Po Boys. The back yard is a great place to hang after a long day of sight-seeing and taking in all New Orleans has to offer. Recommendation, Yes!

The house was just as described in the listing, and the hosts thought of little extras that just made the stay that much better. Simple things like shampoo/conditioner and bandaids were thoughtful. Especially true after my daughter got a blister the first evening there, and we didn't have to run out for a bandaid! We had a short stay, and it was HOT, so we could not enjoy the outside patio, but it was adorable. The hosts provided great suggestions for restaurants and activities nearby. Very helpful for our first trip to NOLA! Enjoyed breakfast at Fatima's Cafe. Overall, a great trip, and we would gladly return again!

Great location. About a 20 minute walk into the French Quarter and 30 minute walk into the Bywater area. Dan and John were wonderful hosts who gave us excellent suggestions for restaurants and things to do. Loved the shotgun apartment

The house is absolutely gorgeous and filled with New Orleans charm, it was the perfect place to stay. The owner was super accommodating and easy to communicate with, the house was very well stocked with essentials, including shampoo/conditioner/body wash/cream. The beds were extremely comfortable with lots of great pillows. The house has a great patio for outside enjoyment and the set up inside was perfect for 4 adults to play cards, hang out. It’s a quick 10 min walk straight down the road to Bourbon st. The location was excellent for quick trips back and forth, however, we did get Ubers in the wee hours (approx $15-20 Canadian for 4 adults). We went to Fatima’s cafe (literally around the corner) twice for her delicious breakfast, the family running it was SO lovely and the cappuccinos & breakfast sandwiches were amazing! We would absolutely stay at this home again and highly recommend it.
