Heart of Hillsdale 1 Bdrm, arbejde, kog, slappe af wifi

Didn't receive checkin by email but got quick response from Rebecca when I called. Excellent free parking options. Kitchen - Kureg didn't work but was quickly replaced. Coin washing machine did not work... The 16 stairs to the apartment did not bother us but might be a challenge for some. VRBO connection to host Nancy was slow but appropriate. Absolutely loved the location just off the courthouse square...we walked all over; to Hillsdale College, Ethans Donuts, Hunt Club Restaurant, Mrs. Stock's Park, the county Fairgrounds, Library...

This was not a pleasant experience. The mattresses were awful. The place was cluttered and poorly arranged for a two person stay. The parking lot was sloppy and muddy. The outside was a mess. The storm door had no glass or screen in the top and you could put your had through the bottom so you couldn't open it for extra light.The light switches didn't work. There was one very dim light in each room and you had to find your way in the dark to turn it on.There was one comfortable chair in the sitting area for two people. We left after two nights. Both of us had backaches from bad mattresses.

I was looking for a good location, access to a kitchen at an affordable price, and that's what I got. Having said that, this wasn't the most comfortable stay ever. No couch or oversized chair to relax in (a daybed in the living room serves double-duty as couch and extra sleeping space). The shower was very run-down, though the water pressure and temp were good. The decor was more shabby than chic and there was a lot of kid noise from next door. Again, it was very reasonably priced, and I got what I paid for.

Overall, our stay was comfortable. The apartment inside was clean and cozy. The area around the apartment left a lot to be desired. Had the police and fire departments not been across the street, we would not have felt as safe there. The property manager was easy to communicate with, and the apartment was very affordable. It was also very cold inside with the AC units, which we appreciated. It was close to downtown and Hillsdale College as well, which is why we were there. The apartment served the purpose that we needed it to.

Nancy communicated well and was available. There was an issue upon check in and it was handled quickly. The description of the property was pretty accurate so I can't say there was any false advertising. The area is safe, though as others have mentioned, it may 'feel' a bit off. It was quiet. If you are looking for something cost effective, this might be your place. For us personally, I don't think I would stay again, but it is not a reflection of the manager or location. It's just a very unique property.
